Thank you so much for this. Actually, my key fob died, so I bought a replacement off of Amazon with the plan to swap out the insides. I was able to pop out the prism chip out of the old one, pop out the new prism chip out of the new one, and then swap them out. It worked like a charm, no super glue or anything. it was a perfect fit. Then I reprogrammed the key, and everything works. But no one else on all of the instruction videos told that about the replacement of the prism chip but you. Otherwise, my car was not starting without it. You made the difference. Thanks!
Definitely if you need to replace key go to locksmith. I'm a locksmith in California and I only charge $150 for new key or $65 for a new shell, but the local Honda dealership hires me to come do it if you go through them and Doubles it
THANK YOU for this video! Been trying to get my car to start for 4 days now. The green key light has been coming on for 3 months and sometimes the green light would go away after a few tries of off and on but it stayed on completely a few days ago. After watching countless youtube videos on "green light key" and a mobile key guy today saying it was probably my key housing; I was able to figure out the problem due to your video. I broke the perfectly assembled key apart to see the chip inside, went to my car and held it against the housing while trying to start the vehicle, and WALLAH!!!!!!!! the key light disappeared and 2007 Honda Fit fired right up! Thanks for saving me a few hundred dollars and I'm a subscriber to the "key light goat" channel. lol
I'm having this same problem but am not quite able to understand what you did here. You broke apart the key and held the chip part next to the ignition? Wouldn't it have already been next to the ignition before the key was broken apart? Really trying to understand how to fix this issue without having to spend hundreds of dollars, any help would be really, really appreciated..
THANKS! I just spent 3 hours in the freezing cold fiddling with relays, fuses and figuring out if the fuel pump works. It does. Car still not starting. I just replaced the key fobs yesterday, started the car this AM with the remote starter and couldn't start it after work with the new key fob. I'll dig out the trash tomorrow and it will be all good again...
I tried using my old key that fell apart because I left my keys with my purse in my bfs car. Now I know I needed that chip which I'm pretty sure when we got it replaced they set it up with the code. I think we had to put the code in too which is on the inner outside of the glove compartment. I bought my car used so no valet key either. When you mentioned the chip it all clicked in my head lol 🤦🏻♀️😅 It all makes sense now. So thanks for the help and a little more extra knowledge that can be handy if need be. 👍🏼 SIDE NOTE: You don't have to necessarily go to the dealership to get it replaced, as I've heard it is costly. UNLESS you can find a place that will replace your key fob and set it up correctly with the code then you won't have to.
Thank you, I just replaced broken fobs for my 2004 Honda Accord w/245,000 miles on it Both keys broke. I ordered cheap crap from Amazon that didn't work real well. Car wouldn't start this morning, called AAA and they couldn't find anything wrong. I found your video and switched around old and new parts on the cheap fobs Started right up Sometimes its just the key
Alright. I came across your video while searching for a reason why my 2006 Honda Pilot would not start this morning, especially since I drove my Car yesterday with no issues. Basically, when I turned the key to start my Car, I got nothing. No clicks, no wurring, just dead silence. I know it was not the Car Battery, since everything electrical on the Car was working. Then I watched your video. When I put my Key into the ignition and did the 2 turns, the Green Key Light on the dashboard turned off, so I knew it wasn't the 15 fuse. However just to try it out, I did replace the fuse hoping that it would solve the problem. Unfortunately, it didn't. My Key Fob is pretty flimsy at the moment, so I have tape around it to keep it sturdy. Now, the C1616 battery in the Key Fob died back in October of 2023, and I never replaced the battery. However, I was still able to unlock the Car and the drive the Car with no issues for the last 7 months, until this morning of course. I went ahead and ordered a replacement C1616 battery for my Key Fob from Amazon which will arrive tomorrow. My question is do you think replacing the C1616 battery on the Key Fob will solve the issue, since it allow the Key Fob to communicate with the Car's computer better? Thanks, Neill.
Wow...I'm so very thankful for sharing this important video since I got mistake in replacing my damage key being cracked , the first thing I feel us that there is so something from the old key which is the microchip , so I decided replacing with the replacement plastic key cover but it was my mistake I never tested it by starting the car..until I confronted no crank no start problem..I buy ignition coil as advised by the technician and again buy injection pump. But after I have watched your video I quickly remember my mistake then I followed your point of bringing back the old one, alas I succeed.
Awesome video. I’m having intermittent starting issues. Noticed the battery of the key remote is dead. None of the buttons work. Could a dead key remote battery cause intermittent starting issues?
Thanks for the compliment. No, the battery in your remote shouldn’t play a part in intermittent starting issues. Sounds like the starter could go be going bad… possibly loose ground wire or corrosion causing a poor connection to the battery. Could be a lot of things, but I would start there.
Thanks! We just replaced the plastic housing on our odyssey remote. For some reason it started once but then quit starting. It was the chip missing in the new remote plastic! Beware of this!
Thank you so much. This video is very informative and helpful. I have a question if you can make the video that would be helpful. I just changed the battery on the key Fob Honda pilot 2013 but still it can’t start my car automatically I heard that you have to synchronize it after replacing the battery. Please can you make a video. Thank you so much
I throw it the original cover in the garbage then I see your video they have a chip inside, so I took from the garbage then I tried to start my car is working. Thank you so much.
For the post-battery, flashing key indicator light, is it definitely fuse ACGs15? My mechanic wants to check every single fuse and charge me a fortune, and I really want to just trust this video. My battery, starter, and alternator are all checking out ok. 2013 Honda Accord with 93K miles
Thanks I finally got it started we had a spair but it wasn't a chip got the one with the chip started right up I seen the green key light flashing but didn't know what it was for I never drove it thanks to your video explaining why it was blinking
Thanks a thousand times 😂 I changed the battery and this small piece came out of nowhere. I put in my pocket no idea it was the chip. Put it back in the fob car started amen 🙏
Thank you sir… been working on my daughter 2007 Honda for 2hrs. Saw other videos about the ACG fuse and finally got to your video that talked about the chip inside the key. Come to find out, my daughter tried to change the battery and the computer chip fell out on the living room. We found the chip, put it in and it started right up. Thank you thank you
Hello i just need your help. I lost a key fob and i still have a key blade and i bought my key fob on amazon and replace the key blade and it did not start what can i do please!!! My first key broke like you mention on method 2. I really need your help please
Great video. Somehow lost chip out of aftermarket locksmith new key…fast forward dead battery $350 for locksmith to make me new key. Weird though. Original Valet key won’t start vehicle and old broken original key w chip won’t start it either. Only the newly fabricated locksmith key. What’s up with that!
@@feniansons yes makes sense. The original valet key and old broken original key w chip won't start your car now because the locksmigy likely configured the car to only start with the newly fabricated key's chip. So if you don't have the new key's chip, sounds like you'll have to take it to the dealership or locksmith again 😭
he is EXACTLY RIGHT.. locksmith wiped the old keys while programming in new key- old keys don't work anymore because the car doesn't think they're valid transponders
I just saw your video it's one-year-old apparently. I lost my key to my 2006 Honda pilot so I got the second one that the dealership gave me 12 years ago. No valet key either. all it does is open and close the car doors I put it in the ignition the car would crank but it would not start I had no idea what was wrong so I researched and I found your video and I pulled the fuse it was not the fuse and it turned out apparently it was the second key had never been programmed. I had my first K blow open like you showed in your video and so I replaced the key fobs from Amazon not knowing anything about that chip. So when I tried to start my car with a second key it would not start I thought it was a dead battery so I replaced the batteries that did not work either high called a Honda person and they said I should have no problems with that. Well they were wrong. So fortunately I had saved the old casing from the original second key. I found it I still have not found my original key and they are enough
NOW I know why !!! just trash all the broken pieces ,,,😥😥 my plan was to get a replacement from eBay now two keys blade useless, thanks for such a really good vid.
I bought a replacement honda key on amazon for under 20 but it was a dud....would not program the door and the dealer could not program the immobilizer chip either. I got it cut anyway (22) and thought I could glue the programmed chip from my good key near the key slot so as a test I held the good key against the bad one and even this close it wouldnt start the car. Does anyone know how close the immobilizer chip has to be to the key slot to work ?
Make sure to check contacts on your battery posts! I went thru all the checks, fuses, relays etc and after few hours it turns out it was corroded wire ends going to my positive terminal...
I buy a flip key case for my civic 2008 hybrid. Now I know why it can’t start the engine. But one thing very strange, it can insert to the ignition point but not the car door. Strange.
I just replace the key housing on 2008 pilot and off course I did not know about chip location and Car won’t start I hope i saved old plastic from old key 😥😥

Dude, I had the whole neighborhood checking on my car see what was wrong Mikey was broken worse than your picture and it got stuck on the keyhole I saw your video and why the mechanics went to figure out what parts they needed I went home I got to put the fob close to the to the keys the key and it turned on. The face on all these mechanics the experts saying that that wasn't it. I kind of feel bad at the end
open the case of the new key fob and insert the chip inside it there is a chamber for the chipTake out the old chip from the old key fob and transfer it to the new one

Thank you for being so knowledgeable about Honda. 10/10

I have a 2003 Civic, and the fuse boxes have no label for ACG S…now how do I disable this immobilizer?
Consider checking each fuse one by one. It may take a while however it’s not a bad idea to do once in a while anyway.
