I think videos detailing how to setup a gas forge for welding and the other examples you mentioned would be stellar. It is largely lacking in detail online with setup/psi of gas to air mix etc etc. Leaves alot of new folks clueless.
I would definitely be interested in seeing a video on how to tune a gas forge properly! I don’t have access to a reasonably priced coke supply so I only have a gas forge and I haven’t been able to forge weld successfully as of yet!! Thanks for the great videos!!
Happy to see that it can weld. Getting mine sometime today and yes, would like to know how to tune the gas for optimum welding. Nice video Roy! Keep up the awesome work!!👍
Roy very Nice video today. It's very informative and nicely useful video. Can't wait to see more videos soon. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work my friend Roy. Forge on. Keep making. God bless.
Always great videos! I'd love a "tuning" class for gas burners. Through trial and error, I finally got Mr. V to burn clean and consistent, but I don't know what, specifically, did the trick.
I really wanna see more of the Mr. Volcano. My friends very kindly just bought me one and the more you can teach me on it, the better sir! Thank you for this!
I would love to see a video on how to properly tune a gas forge. I purchased this forge recently, and I am enjoying your video's about it. Keep up the great work, very much appreciated. Thank you.
That would be awesome, having more videos on the Volcano Forge. Not sure I am ready to explore gas forge yet, I really like using coal but may be forced there some day when we can no longer get coal. Thanks Roy!! Wayne
I talked a co-working into buying a mr volcano forge being he wanted to try out the art of blacksmithing. Will be leading him to this channel to help him begin and start learning. Great content as usual Roy.
gas forge knowledge is appreciated. I am amazed by this forge. I have not been able to tune my gas forge yet (keyword yet) for good forge welding. I love your content in general but I really love the educational things you do.
I'd love to see more videos about this forge, mine arrives on Monday. Just getting into blacksmithing/bladesmithing so any videos are greatly appreciated.
Please. I've welded in my solid fuel forge, but have a beastly time trying to get my gas forge to temp. I've thus far attributed it to my altitude (about 6000 feet.) Thanks for this and all videos you've done! A video about tuning the gas forge would benefit the community at large, I'm sure!
I would love to see a "tune the gas forge" video. Roy! I have a ribbon burner on my gas forge, and have no trouble attaining heat. Tuning it to control it better is definitely in my best interest! Thanks!
I would love a video on gas forge tuning and flame management with one. You hear blacksmiths talk about what PSI you should be running it around for this task or that task, and that you can tell what PSI you are running at based on what the flame looks like. I do not understand that concept whatsoever. Information on creating a “rich flame”, etc. would be amazing. Most of the books that you find on blacksmithing, while they have great information on hammer technique, tooling, and whatnot, tend to focus on flame management with coal forges, from what I’ve found - if anyone knows of a good source of information for the smith exclusively using a gas forge, I’m all ears. Thank you for another great video. Just got the replacement hose today in the mail for my Mr. Volcano, so hoping to get it fired up more. They were quite prompt in sending it.
Thank you for watching the video And just wanted to let you know I posted The video on how to tune a gas forge this evening 🙂 hopefully it will be helpful
Thank you for the video. I enjoyed watching it. I'm just starting out with blacksmithing and am looking for new resources of information. Keep up the great work sir.
This video is from before you replaced the hose and regulator, so you're still only using the 20psi that the MrV shipped with, right? Just wanting to confirm that one should be able to forge weld with the stock fittings. I think in the 10 Jan 2022 video ("Watch this before...") you mentioned the hose and regulator were on order, but the dates of shooting and posting aren't necessarily aligned.
I would love to see what this little guy can do! I used to have a Hans Peot style forge years ago that I ran on a 20lb tank, with a GAS GRILL regulator by changing out the gas tip with a nozzle off an blow nozzle. And it worked! I was pleasantly surprised! Sadly I have none of my old shop left! Everything from 20 years ago is gone....Today it's just a couple of buckets of tools and a handful tongs and hammers and where ever I can borrow some ones shop
I’d absolutely be interested in seeing this. I have the mr.V2. Amd I have forged welded 2x. Successfully. But it seemed like it was a lot harder then it should have been.
Do you think there would be any benefit in buying a recliner kit and dubbing up on the k wool I don’t need a lot of room I’m going to try to make Small Damascus billets tops for 6” knife
Just bought this the other day, prior to seeing your review. Got a jeweler's steel bench block for an anvil, and some firebrick... Maybe I have confidence issues but I expect high return on investment haha. Then maybe I'll afford more to work with. Thanks bro, bout to crash course your beginner videos
I’ve been looking at getting one of these forges for tool making and other projects. I’m guessing that if it can forge weld, it can do mokume gana as well.
What should the flame look like in Mr. Volcano forge? I am new to blacksmithing and I don't know what it should look like with the right air/gas mix. I enjoyed the video!
I do wood work. I am wanting to get into blacksmithing. I have been looking at the Mr. Volcano forge. I was wondering how good it would do for a completely new beginner. It is because of you and black bear forge that I really want to get into it more. If this forge has your approval then it is worth getting. Thanks Roy for everything. Can't wait to see more videos. Chris
I've had my Mr. V forge for about 6 months now, setup takes a bit and finding the right air/fuel is a lot of trial and error. but for a beginner it will do everything you need and more. It will absolutely eat through a propane tank though, but what forge doesn't. My word isn't worth much but I'd recommend it
Being new to the craft I've had to do a lot of experimenting with my Mr. Volcano 2x Burner. I think I've got it figured out and tuned. But it would be awesome To hear someone with experience.
In another video about this forge you show a regulator and hose you had bought to replace the one that came in the kit. Can you please share where you bought it and the link to purchase it? Thank you
Great video Roy, what size propane tank were you using? I understand for some forged to get to forge welding heat you need a bigger tank than just a 20lb. When you get a chance could you share a more detailed video about forge welding in a gas forge. I know your new to gas forge welding, but I'd like to know more.
I am new to the blacksmithing world and as I continue to watch videos I have been noticing that you guys will hit the work piece a few times and tap the anvil, is there any specific reason for this?
I bought that lil forge about a month ago. Just started tinkering. Railroad spike and sime old files just hammering and making adjustments to my floor layout. Would like to see more on flame adjustment since the burner has an odd atmospheric regulator.
nice concise video, thakns for the review. i also liked that you laid out the differences in the two different forging methods, good to have that info before we make our decisions on which/what to use :) god bless o7
A video of that content would be awesome opossum! Pretty sure those with other gas forges could bennifit from this too...like an old dummhead like me! Also, if you would be so inclined, could you tell me what regulator you would buy as your personal use on a dedicated line? Mine has ceased to function so I need to buy a new one that does it all shall we say. Thank you sir and God bless n keep you Crawford out 🙏🔥⚒️🧙🏼♂️
The iron mountain flux is good for light welds and pieces that won't take a lot of force, but sometimes it can give you a false sense of security. Because of the iron in the flux you can get a bond on the surface at very low temperatures, but it might not be welded all the way through. Its a good product and you can get some good welds, but i don't like the surface it leaves on decorative work.
Hi roy nice video on forge welding in the gas forge would love to see more on this subject also do you have any way to regulate the air flowvon your solid fuel forge
Just spent two days trying to forge weld in this thing can’t even get them to stick in the forge . I’ve tried blasting the heat before putting my pieces in and then going to a gas rich environment it just won’t get to the heat it seems .
Definitely interested in a tuning video, as well as thoughts on getting 2 of these little forges and tig welding them into a single medium sized beginners forge since I haven't find one that big for the price of one of these guys

YES please!! I am a beginner, have this forge, and know next to nothing.
Mine is coming tomorrow, I already have a 2 burner but wanted a smaller one for little projects like hooks.
Hope you get credit, I used your link.
I will get credit so thank you so much for the support 🙂👍👍🔥🔥🔥🌋

Thank you Wayne for All your support Sir 👍👍🙂
I just bought one of these little forges
Awesome 👍😎
@@ChristCenteredIronworks the small ones are modular... if I want a longer forge, I just buy another one and butt it up to the first
I JUST MADE MINE AND I CANT WAIT TO TRY IT. I have nowhere to put it though I'm so glad this video came out

Tuning this forge would be a great supplement! I could certainly use it on my own forced air gas forge.
Yes please do the video on fine tuning the propane forge, I could use the tips.
By all means talk about adjusting the flame in a gas/propane forge.
We use iron mountain all the time in Upper Midwest Blacksmith Association - great stuff!
Very cool. Happy new year
Happy New year to you too 🥳
A video on tuning a gas forge would be excellent.
I have a larger gas forge but I keep seeing good things about this Mr Volcano and it might be worth picking one up for taking to vendor events.
