I bought mine because of your review. Love it. Used it to turn out some tent stakes this pst weekend. Super easy to use just needed to make a brace to set longer pieces on.
I've had my little Mr. Volcano for about a month now & I really love it! It's a great learning tool. I bought it primarily because of your reviews. I have a solid fuel forge I built that breaks down for transport & I fabricated a bracket out of scrap angle iron that fits in the hole for the fire pot & holds the Hero. It sets up super easy & fast & I can take it anywhere. Thanks for the links to the upgrades.
I have the OG 2 burner Mr volcano forge. Absolutely awesome. I am very happy with it. I have been useing it for a couple years now. It's awesome. I really just use one burner pretty much. I have only use 2 burners maybe 2 times. Can't wait to see more videos soon Roy. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work my friend. Forge On. Fab On. Weld On. Keep Making. God bless.
@Jared E. Scheidel : Make sure you remove the burner that you are not using and cap it, or the heat will "chimney" up the unused burner and melt your valve causing a catastrophic failure.
Nice to see that it is holding up so well Roy, I know you guys would have given it a fair bit of work, a lot more than most hobby makers will give it in a lifetime.
Thanks for the update. I did buy the better hose in your link. One thing I did was to put a SSteel hose clamp on the burner tube. That way I can just pull it out "quick" when I'm done. And-when I put it back in, it goes to the correct depth into the housing.
I've had mine about 6 months now and have used it a lot. I really like this little forge! I intend to add the braided wire hose and pressure gauge, but have procrastinated on that. My only issue with my Mr. Volcano is the refractory is chipping away, but that is totally my fault because I got in a hurry to use the thing and didn't put on enough refactory. I'll be adding another layer before using the forge again.
I bought this forge after your review. I started by using a center spring punch on burner flange and broke the spot weld loose. I put four bolts around the flange.
I bought mine after your review and several others…it’s fantastic! I did add some hi-locks to the burner flange just to avoid any issues with the spot welds. Also, I built a PID/thermocouple control box for it so I can maintain any temp. I need. Automatically turns the gas on and off to maintain the temp. Great forge!
@@mrmalone28 I posted a short video of it running…just click on my icon…it’s the only video posted. Send me an email address and I’ll send you the link to the Amazon parts.
The burner flange concern was well placed. I'm working on one now that the flange spot welds came loose on. I'm getting ready to attempt some TIG welding to fix the issue. Hoping it all works out.
Just got Mr Volcano 2 yesterday, Amazon order. Pretty impressed but first off will deburr rough shearing cuts and using stainless hardware to supplement tack welds. I will be getting braided fuel line(s). Thanks for video, good insights.
Just got mine in today, haven't unboxed it yet. Watched a lot of reviews even after ordering, also watched your video on gas oxygen mixture as well since you do use this forge as your example. The stand is a fantastic idea, I was actually thinking of something along those lines myself but you gave me a great example to go off of. So thank you for that as well.
I just got this forge. It works really well. The one thing that isn't great is the hose (which you've replaced). I got mine this Monday, the rubber already formed a large leak right where it connects to the burner. I contacted the customer service, and they said they can help me. It was friday when I contacted them, and heard from them once so far. I'm expecting to hear from them again and get an update until the weekend is over, but hopefully they can help me out with it.
This looks right for me, thanks! I do so little forge work that I have just been using an oxy rosebud. Not the best for hardening and tempering, and more expensive to run.
I haven't set mine up yet, I really need to as it should save a lot of propane for me. I wanted to say I really dig what you did with the treadle hammer kit. I can't afford it right now, but maybe some day soon.
Thank you for the link to mr Volcano. I got the single burner. It will be here in 6 days. I know I could have waited and hoped to get lucky with your give always but. I do t want to wait on a hope. Lol. Big fan of your work.hopefully I can push out a few blades so my wife won’t get mad at me for my investments. I think the first thing I’ll make is some tongs out of rebar. Oh yes, I have subscribed to your chanel
Just bought one of these 2 weeks ago. I got all the refractory put in it and had a bunch of stuff come up so it’s been sitting for 10 days. Hopefully it’s cured by the time I get to use it in a week or so.
Greetings! Thank you for the follow-up video on the Mr. Volcano single burner forge. I just used your affiliate link to purchase one. I bought the same braided hose that you did some time ago when attempting to build my own forge. Sad thing is the wool, rigidizer and refractory would of cost more than this Mr. Volcano kit. And a big plus it's made in the USA! Thanks again!
Good advice, not a timber bench! You would think that it doesn’t need to be said but!!! My gas forge was fixed to one end of my welding bench and I recently made a mobile stand for it which is super useful to get the forge closer to where it needs to be. Didn’t really think I would move it much but I do! Thanks Roy!
I have the hero2, got it a bit over a month ago. I haven't seen this anywhere, they say to not leave the ends closed up when shutting down and to also close off the air choke. The most recent instructions now say this, but the ones that came with mine it was not. If you don't the hose will separate at the fitting (thermal fail). It was a BIG leak that I noticed pretty quickly, so disaster averted. I had done all the curing, ran it in the morning and the fail happened when I came back from lunch. I haven't had a chance to complete the repairs and fire it back up. There was a bit of back and forth with Mr. V but in the end they agreed that it was a warranty issue as there was no mention in the instructions, and other forges I've used this wasn't the case. Now that the instructions have been updated, guessing likely not the case. Maybe the stainless hose would mitigate this problem? A friend has a similar lower cost forge, though a bit more $, and he doesn't have to remove the second burner when not in use, or do any of the other shut down extras. Just turns off the gas. I think it cost a bit less than 2x, but maybe it is worth it? just FYI.
I also have one. It's a good little forge. I rushed my refractory installation and forgot to spray the fiber blanket with water before applying the cement. It caused it to crack. It says that it comes with a new type of ceramic fiber blanket that doesn't put off any crystalline silica when heated above 1800 degrees (fahrenheit). It's supposedly safe even without any refractory cement. It just helps protect it and give you a hard layer on the inside of your forge. Also, after determining that the cement would be fine with a few cracks, I cured it. I used it one time to harden a knife then that night one of my dogs somehow got caught on the hose and drug it off of my welding table. Now it looks like someone took a hammer and crushed up the cement. About 95% of it is still intact just cracked up like mosaic tile.😂 It still works great though.
hey christ, love the video and actually just bought a singer burner myself because of your review! got the steel braided hose as well but currently using the rubber hose cause i have no idea what size valve to get. so i was wondering what size valve do you use? thanks in advance!

Hi Roy...can you do a video on what type of projects you can do with a Mr. Volcano, and what the limitations are as far as size and scale? I understand your comment about scrolls, and decorative iron work.. but for a beginner what is the range of versatility with Mr. Volcano hooks, nails, etc.?
Had this forge been around 3 years ago I never would have built the venturi forge I have now. I went to the venturi because I was running a blower gas forge and it was just too loud for the location I'm in now.
I’m viewing this one late, so maybe it’s been explained. While I knew it, you can really see the spaces between the wood boards of the walls. Is that on purpose, for air flow to remove the gases from the forges, or is there some other reason? It doesn’t seem as though it would do much to keep the cold out during the winter.
I find that after lining with satanite and putting the supplied firebrick inside there's almost no room left in the forge is there any thinner fire bricks or can I just leave them out ?
Hi roy when you forge weld a circle do you rivit it shut before attempting to forge weld it together i can't seem to get the ends close enough together to stop the build up of scale in the joint are there any tricks that you might recommend to make this process any easier to achieve this is my first time at trying to achieve this particular weld thanks
Speaking of wooden bench-tops, I found it is not good to be too near a garage door with those plastic frame windows. It is a bit disconcerting, not to mention surprising and off-putting, to have a pane of glass rain down on your head in the middle of a project. 💥 🔥 😱 Now I wait for a dedicated space for forging.
