  • This is a clip from the full walk with just the worst (or maybe best for you) part of the ridge walk. The sound of fear" is in the title because you can hear how scared I am!

    Having done almost 100 munros I think I've got a good head for heights but this is another level. A grade 1 scramble here if ever I seen one. Great effort. There's no way I would attempt it.

    • @OutandaboutwithSpencer
      @OutandaboutwithSpencer  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The funny thing is, if it was a couple of feet off the ground you would skip over it. It's just the height and sense of exposure that makes it difficult. If you have a good head for heights I'm sure you would enjoy it. Thanks for watching. 👍

    Fair play to you mate, you have balls of steel. You had a great day for it and this is probably the clearest video I've seen of the ridge. I love a good scramble but suffer from vertigo so I could not deal with the exposure, so I really enjoyed this.

    Captures it perfectly, did it over 200 times and it was different every time. This and Tryfan North ridge were my 2 favourite North Wale walks. Severe health problems have kept me off the mountains for nearly 30 years but I still have great memories from then. Enjoy it whever you have the oppurtunity and thanks for the video much appreciated by this old man.

    I went up crib goch 30 years ago when I was a free solo climber of not great quality ( v1 max ) and had no fear. I did it again yesterday at 66 and life is more precious and fear more real and less balance and flexibility (knees especially) so I went left and traversed. I didn’t feel a wimp I felt sensible and comfortable and protected and confidence grew. Don’t ever watch others and think they set an example. It is your life and it is precious. So protect it. If you want to dance along the ridge and catch a toe or lose your balance you are dead. Brown bread. Bravado kaput. Be safe and live to tell how scary it was. Be proud of fear. It kept you alive.

    This was so entertaining to watch😂.
    I just did last week the whole ridge up to the summit all on my own, for the first time, late in the evening. Started at 5 pm and rushed through so I can catch the sunset. Had a few moments where I was shaking. But definitely, this is one thrill of a hike. I loved it so much that I will probably try to do it again this week if it stops raining. When I went up it was such a beautiful calm day, so it helped. Also, the biggest mistake I did, was to take the left turn after the Pinnacles. The left turn still got me to the summit, but it was much more treacherous with a lot of sliding sludge. Take care and enjoy.

And on the back of the Summit Picture at the Trig Point on Snowden i had handwritten "At the top of Snowden, Thank God!" i can't remember writing it but it was great to see 🙂. That's on my to do list,but it's my worst nightmare at same time. I don't mind scrambling but the exposure here is so bad,you actually see both sides at all times I think this is making even worse.I've heard the way to go is to step to the left(your back should facing the lake)and that way you can't see the drops.I'm yet to try if it works as looking on the films like yours is easier said than done lol,anyway nice video,subscribed now :)

    • @OutandaboutwithSpencer

      The only way to avoid looking at the drops is to do it with your eyes closed..and I would NOT recommend that!! 😮 seriously I just focused on each step but if you don’t like heights it is scary. Thanks for the sub. 👍
