I’m so glad that you included some of Hayaou Miyazaki’s Movies. His movies are my childhood and he is one of my inspirations and also one of the reasons that I’m an animator!
It's amazing how Disney helped evolved society into the new age. Also should have mentioned Bugs Bunny and Warner bros. That said, the japanese dominated the 1980s in animation but the 1990s were the golden age of disney.
I love how talented artists from decades and decades and decades ago have created entertainment that was soon to be watched and enjoyed by the masses of today's generation.

Man I teared up after 2015 cuz it’s so freakin amazing how something starts out as an idea n wen u put dat idea out there it’s crazy how it can progress wit technology thru out centuries so to the first person whoever thought of animation n puttin that idea out there congratulations to u cuz your idea is still alive today n prolly will be till for eternity
Shelby Mavity I understand. I am home schooled too. She is just trying to protect you. Some parents think that shutting you in protects you from the world. It isn't because she wants you to feel lonely, she wants you to feel safe.
Skimmed over everything 60s until the 90s then you showed almost every year since then. Maybe because that's what we would remember but I still grew up watching Flintstones, Tom & Jerry, etc. Soviet cartoons too.
No Roger Rabbit is kind of sad. It would have represented Richard Williams work, who is actually the first animation genius to actually teach others the professional craft.
Johnny Bravo - I greatly respect and admire Richard Williams, but it is just absurd to say he is the "the first animation genius to actually teach others the professional craft." Dick most certainly would NOT claim that ... WHO , pray tell , TAUGHT him and his studio animators ? Do the names Art Babbitt , Ken Harris, Grim Natwick ring a bell ? Dick's book is based on Art Babbitt's lectures that Art gave at the Williams studio in the 1970's (and additional wisdom gleaned from veterans like Ken Harris , Milt Kahl, Grim Natwick, Abe Levitow , all of whom Dick credits in his book and video series) Art Babbitt never lived to put all his lecture notes into book form, so Dick did it himself. Not to mention the teachers at schools like Cal Arts and Sheridan who were passing on the techniques of classical character animation for many years starting in the mid 1970's , and great animators like Eric Larson at Disney who taught and mentored so many young animators in the 70's and 80's (many of whom went on to become the super stars of the "Disney Renaissance"). Ben Washam (one of Chuck Jones's key animators) used to give animation lessons for FREE in his home to anyone who seriously wanted to learn the craft.
@@MrBongers None of those people released an actual tutorial workbook to the public dude. They talked about some general things but not a step by step process for animation like the Animators Survival Kit, that laid out key poses, in betweens, various types of animations, walks, runs, emotions, everything. Mentoring is not the same as releasing a how to book for animation to the entire world.
Really nicely done! I do feel as though this could have been slightly better by either being just 'The Evolution of 2D Animation", "A History of Disney Animation" or having more clips from other types of animation earlier on in history. For instance, I feel as though Wallace & Gromit could have come in a little earlier, as I think Aardman are very much pioneers of modern stop-motion, taken to new heights by Laika. I think there was a little too much Disney and not enough of much else, it definitely could have done with Tom & Jerry, anything by Chuck Jones or Tex Avery, perhaps some 60s Hanna-Barbera or even 90s/00s Hanna-Barbera. Granted, Disney are quite literally the pioneers of traditional animation, but it'd have been good to see more breadth of who was inspired by Disney. A peppering of more European and Japanese animation would also benefit this. I hope this is coming across as constructive criticism :-) It is good, it's just it could be even better.
Actually, Fleischer animations were the pioneers, but Disney was much better at marketing and claimed they made the first sound animation, however it was Fleischer who did it first, 2 years earlier. Just a little history lesson.
I actually like this setup because it shows the overall evolution. Like its cool to see that ToyStory started 3d in 1995... Then see that there was a boom of 3d in 2001 onwards with 2d being slightly less relevant.

Roger Rabbit was first film to feature both animated and live-action graphics but for some reason they showed only Space Jam.
The moment I disliked the video. They show space jam but not Roger Rabbit? Smh.
@@MrBongers None of those people released an actual tutorial workbook to the public dude. They talked about some general things but not a step by step process for animation like the Animators Survival Kit, that laid out key poses, in betweens, various types of animations, walks, runs, emotions, everything. Mentoring is not the same as releasing a how to book for animation to the entire world.
can we just appreciate how cool the clown one from 1911 was
Winsor Mccay was a true mastermind
Movie name: little Nemo
It’s beautiful how far animation has come over the years🤩
Really nicely done!
I hope this is coming across as constructive criticism :-)
It is good, it's just it could be even better.
Dan Root, U Said A Lot Of Things
The lack of Fleischer animation and cartoons from the Tex Avery era was disappointing.
Lack of TeX is disappointing...
