Took a _computer art_ class in the early 80s. We were all amazed at a sample of how they got a spinning dancer's skirt to wrap around her legs. How time flies!
I actually kinda liked how they hid the faces of the humans in toy story 1 and 2. I know it was because they couldn’t show them because of the technology, but it really just added to the “this story is about the toys” feel to it
In about 5 years. Just look at grand moff tarkin in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. That is almost perfect. I think in about 5-10 years they will look real
The "Uncanny Vally" effect isn't completely an animation issue, it's also a human sight perception/brain recognition issue; when we see something trying to imitate us our brains tell us that something is wrong/weird with what we're seeing, and that we shouldn't be seeing it; So no matter how realistic you make animation, someone will find it creepy or unsettling and some things will have to be even a little bit stylized to prevent the "Uncanny Vally" reaction.
Its like when we were younger, characters, lighting, rendering, all those things didn't matter to us, but now, when we see the improvement of certain things, we think of the old animations "Wow, that animation was way worse."
it's crazy how a big animation breakthrough in 1997 like subdivision surface can now easily be done in blender with the click of a button, and bam, a smooth object.

You can see Boo smashing the table in the background-
Also Polar Express NEEDS TO BE SPOKEN ABOUT MORE
TOO UNDERATED FOR A GREAT MOVIE
Mac Doodles yasss polar express! Best movie ever!
Took a _computer art_ class in the early 80s. We were all amazed at a sample of how they got a spinning dancer's skirt to wrap around her legs. How time flies!
I actually kinda liked how they hid the faces of the humans in toy story 1 and 2.
I know it was because they couldn’t show them because of the technology, but it really just added to the “this story is about the toys” feel to it
Your videos on technologies used in movies are much more valuable than tutorials alone.
Great work.
I swear Soul gonna be awesome, i cant wait
fun fact: you cant look at a word without reading it
Unless you can’t read
Crafty Fox true lol
Unless you don't know the language
Unless you glance at it quickly
WHAAT
If animation keeps advancing at this rate pretty soon it’s probably just gonna look like live action lol
Lion king 2019 exists
13:40 I thought that was a real recording for a second.
"Humans have always been a challenging obstacle for Pixar". Mister, humans are always a challenging obstacle for everybody, including themselves😆
Now i understand why it took them 14 years for incredibles. Wow alot goes in to making a pixar movie
When will we see photorealistic humans that don’t look creepy?
In about 5 years. Just look at grand moff tarkin in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. That is almost perfect. I think in about 5-10 years they will look real
I mean, videogames are alway improving in that aspect. Detroit Become Human had pretty realistic humans
The recent Blade runner movie does have a realistic face cgi that its impossible to notice at first glance
@@ceve So much hate for this game, makes me sad.
Ngl, mama coco has one of the best human skin, toy story 4 also has great lighting
The evolution of animation, of all kinds, is awesome. :D
2:17
That looks like the guy who fixed Woody's arm
I appreciate the simplicity of the old movies they had to be creative in there designs first and foremost
I still remember the golden age of Disney with more better things than today trash remastered
6:23 What my FBI agent sees from my camera every morning
Its like when we were younger, characters, lighting, rendering, all those things didn't matter to us, but now, when we see the improvement of certain things, we think of the old animations "Wow, that animation was way worse."
it's crazy how a big animation breakthrough in 1997 like subdivision surface can now easily be done in blender with the click of a button, and bam, a smooth object.
6:29 Fun fact: You can actually hear this scene even without the character's voice
6:47 when you're actually a lizard person and need to blink
We’re not humans, we’re Pixar
I have Soo much respect for animators. They spend so much time for our entertainment
This was the longest 15 minutes of my life

Cannibalism!!!
