      Just a tip, when using painters tape don't press so hard, go get clear caulking and put a very light amount on your line, it stops bleeding and it gives an exact edge and you immediately pull the tape while it's wet, you will not get better lines, you'll thank me later.. nice build, I'm working on another piece and I'm jealous of your tools and garage I'm working with chop and table saw only 😩 but I've done it before...

    Take note potential Content Creators, Brad here perfectly illustrates the, "it factor" for making a living doing this. From his humble and willingness to point out the mistakes he makes during his projects, to making fun of himself on his poor previous prepwork while painting his son's room, he show's a genuine honest and humble trait that many will connect with. This will draw people to his video's who might not otherwise be interested in wood work. Great channel!

Holy cow, with a terribly crooked wall the trim work was a bear to get looking right. It’s a lot of work but I have to say, worth it! Thank you. I had a couple of live edge pieces laying around so I made a live edge desk top and it looks great! Looking forward to the next project! Oh and you made me go by the Kreg Foreman. Great tool!

      LOL… Nope. This is how I envisioned the script *actually* was supposed to go:
      Plan A: no backs on the bookcases. “Well 🤬, the walls aren’t straight!”
      But I’m too suave to say this wasn’t in the contingency all along. Hmmm… I’ll make it a ‘teaching moment’ yeah, yeah!
      Plan B (a.k.a., The Teaching Moment): the cases will have backs, painted to match the already painted walls, which will also hide the not-straight walls behind the cases, but not next to the cases.
      Plan B, subparagraph 2: And, oh, by the way, you need to cut another hole in the *side* if you want power to the desk.
      (Let’s hope no one notices they have to cut yet another hole in the desk itself if they want the power actually on TOP of the desk!) 🤣
      👍🏻

    Great build, I might try it but with dadoes (using a router and a track) for the shelves instead of pocket holes, so I don't have to deal with all the hole filling plus it might support more weight.

    I built a built-in bed for my sons with shelves underneath and storage behind the shelves. To make it really fit, I cut the skirting boards. Of course, I saved the offcut bits. A couple of years later, it was time for a change of location. When everything was packed, I realised that there room had incomplete skirting boards. The bits I had saved had gone with lots of other bits I had stored up for “later”. So the night before we were due to drive across half of Europe, I was nailing new skirting boards until 2am.

    For the bases of the bookshelves, do you secure those to the studs or do you just let the weight of the bookshelves hold them in place? Are the screws that are holding the bookshelves to wall and the weight of them enough to hold the base in place?

    Great job matey looks amazing 👍 Unfortunately for me to build this in the UK because of the price of lumber it would cost over £600 about $800 and that's from a lumber yard, would be more from a DIY store. I love this. I was thinking of putting doors on it and making it a pantry for the kitchen. With the shelves pocket-holed, how much weight can they support? Thinking of weight of can goods, pots and pans, etc. Thanks!!

      @Fixthisbuildthat  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't know exactly how much, but that glued and nailed face frame increase the weight bearing a lot. It would definitely hold a full row of large books which I thi k would be more than pots and pans

    Excellent and very helpful video. Do you have a video that shows how you do the scribing against a wall? You rip the edge at an angle to make it easier to cut it to fit the wall… at what point and how? Before you attach the frame or after? (I feel so dumb for asking!) Is there a part of it that we cannot see that still overhangs the wall side of the cabinet? I have a fairly big system we’re doing that has to sit against a high wall, with a top unit sitting on a lower one.
