Catholic OCD: Mindfulness. Not a trick but very helpful.

Even though it sounds like some kind of "New Age" technique, living in the present moment is an orthodox and very Catholic spiritual practice and discipline. It is particularly effective in learning how to manage the compulsive and repetitive responses to the triggers of OCD.

Thank you for this. I cannot explain how much it means to just hear kindness and non-judgment from a catholic priest. I know the kindness of God in my heart and the Church sometimes has trouble succeeding in communicating this. The strong emphasis on sin and a fear of getting it wrong doctrinally have made me feel that entire parts of myself are unacceptable. Thank you.
