I can't believe Lewis really has that much more faith in Ferrari than in Mercedes. Even if you disregard his legacy with Merc and the general lackluster performance of Ferrari, going from a British team to an Italian team is a big change in culture, and with all the politics at Maranello in mind, it's really going to a shitstorm behind the scenes with Charles and Lewis trying to dominate each other on and off track.
@dSlayer6160 Mercedes is based in England, but they’re actually a German team because they’re driving under a German license. When Hamilton (or Russell) wins a race, first the British national anthem is played for him, then the German national anthem for the team. When Verstappen wins, the Dutch national anthem is played and then the Austrian one, while the team is based in England.
Lewis & Charles are Vastly different drivers he’s the goat I hardly think Ferrari would go thru the trouble of signing him if they weren’t prepared to make a few changes to make a 7x World Champion/the most marketable driver on the planet feel at home
it is like a job, after 10 years most people need a change, new oportunities...etc If he is able to get another title, he will definetly be in drivers history.. And in an Italian team...hahaha
I see this a little differently. I think for Lewis, he now probably has a rough idea of when he'll retire. I think this is partly a bucket list move and partly something Ferrari have been able to demonstrate for '26. Then, there's the chance to try to build the team around you when it comes to development, tactics and that whole leadership type thing a champion enjoys taking on. Plus, at Ferrari, there's always a number one driver, and I think, he believes he can take on Charles head to head and come out on top, thereby taking that lead role. Max has that at RB. I wonder if Hamilton thinks that's required to beat him. You know, Mercedes ignored him with the wheelbase Vs cockpit position thing with the zero pod concept. It could be as simple as Ferrari saying : A. We have a good PU for 26, and B: we'll do whatever it is to give you what you need on chassis side. At worst, he ticks off his bucket list before retiring. He's not afraid to go to a team that needs a bit of work either it seems. He better learn good Italian quick though. 😂
It's true, but there's more than that. It's a very big marketing plan. Lewis Hamilton is a brand, combine that with Ferrari brand is very big, and marketing it to a younger and (I know this is a dirty word for some people) more diverse generation. The stock price reaction shows it.
2025 is a whole season away. I will get interested in Hamilton switching teams when the 2024 season is over. And in all this Carlos got shafted. Daniel and Carlos are now auditioning for future rides. Sergio is toast.
Thank goodness Karin is there. This is similar to Seb. It also rings of what Lewis did with Merc before the regulation changes. Also Seb challenged hard for two years at Ferrari, the disrespect he got was crazy there. He is a 4 time world champ.
God... can we skip 2024 season and g for 25 now ?? I so can't wait to see LH in a Ferrari and hopefully win races, that's the biggest match for decades
You can tell Lewis is the last of the oldskool drivers, he knows F1 history (Like Vettel) and you cannot be called the Goat until you drive Ferrari and come out with a WDC. The new school drivers dont care a jot. At their peril. I hope Scuderia listen to Lewis just like they listened to Michael, but going back to the start of F1 so many great WDC have fallen by the wayside when they join Ferrari. At least it wont be a borefest in 2025, I wish it was this year that Lewis goes to Ferrari.
Adrian Newey said on the beyond the grid podcast that his only regrets from his F1 career was not getting the chance to work with Lewis Hamilton and not working at Ferrari... Is this part of a bigger plan to bring Newey to Italy at last?
I am a Max fan,but nobody can deny that Lewis is a great driver and I can not wait to see him in the Ferrari. Just like Max and Fernando it's amazing how they drive
@paulbulk7044 Thanks for your comment. 33 is a wonderful driver... and that is where it stops for me. I was crazy about the youngsters, and my wife and I called them the babies. Unfortunately the "ways and and character" of the RB team put our family in a space of now seeing what a counter model they are... its a pity... AND its Lewis' current €450 000 000 two year pay day speaks VOLUMES of raw talent, tenacity, driving genius, GREAT sportsmanship, very high IQ, phenomenal EQ, and exceptional brand value says it all...
exactly HAM was 1 second off at the end despite being disqualified still a hell of a drive in the US and if he and George were swapped at Singapore I believe he would have won that race
Clearly Hamilton doesn't watch back the races. He doesn't see Ferrari doing their best impression of the Keystone Cops, he hasn't seen them making the worst decisions since Lucky Jim Lucky said: no; I will go on the Titanic, he hasn't heard the radio exchange: what tires, what tires? Yeah, whata tires? We agive you five tires! As James Hunt said: I'd only drive for Ferrari if they were run by McLaren.
The right move for Lewis was to Ferrari. I was expecting this move 3 years ago but it seems the timing was right now. There are so many factors if we want to analyze in length about Lewis' decision. I think it was a straightforward decision. Lewis wants to win with Ferrari before ending his career. He has accomplished everything that an F1 driver could dream of. This a mega excitement for him and F1.
I love this . All thease years i have been ferrari fan , after michael and jean todd ferrari have been on vacation ....and we ferrari fans have seen what lewis did to all our drivers idols . Now if he takes his eights title in ferrari i would love to see that
alex clearly doesn't want to be a second driver again. hes doing well w williams atm and they are pretty set on being a contending team again. makes more sense if alex wants to stay and build up with williams
Albon will be #1 driver..... at RB (Visa Cash App RB) with Liam in the 2nd car in 2025. Albon has a 3yr offer from RB ✌ Now THAT will be a great pairing. And the new car will be much better than the AT was with full new bosses/ high technical employees added to the team 👌
They didnt have Fred as principal. And the Scuderia is public ownership, Ferrari are like the English national football team, anything they do the politicians and basically all of Italy are involved.
It is absolutely shocking but I am getting so much goosebumps in dreaming of Lewis winning the 8th championship with Mercedes in 2024 and then leaving them. It would be a farewell like no other. I am still believing that James Allison's W15 will be a strong contender for the championship this season. Lewis winning 8th with Mercedes and 9th with Ferrari is what I am dreaming of now. Let's have our fingers crossed and see this 2024 season to finality.
From McLaren to Mercedes and now the icing 🧁 on the cake 🎂 it’s Ferrari Three of the best teams ever to race for. Good luck Lewis👍 wishing you all The best👌🏼
I doubt Alonso with join Mercedes.. The only reason why he is successful in turning around Aston is because they are listening to him and building the team around him... This was the main reason Stroll brought him on board. But with the structure of how Mercedes is now the team, management & company.. They will not be able to do this... It will be Alonsos downfall and end of his F1 carear if he joins Mercedes
I am utterly gutted that Sainz will not be racing in a Ferrari from 2025. I hope he wins the championship with them this year, and gets a really good and competitive car for 2025 onwards.
In the GOAT discussion the only way for Hamilton to convincingly be listed above Schumacher is by winning a championship with Ferrari. I believe this is the main reason. Then he can be on top of every possible evaluation - whether stat driven or emotion driven.
Hamilton has way better stats than Schumacher already. 105 wins is insane. Plus let's be honest, Lewis won 2021, the race director just decided to break the rules to give the championship to Max after Lewis obliterated Max in the final 5 races.
Yeah I agree Lewis has moved on due to the constant underperformance from Mercedes but let's not forget the amount of times the team made the wrong decision when it came to orders from the team with pitstops etc
It's gonna be funny watching Sky Sports Mercedes F1 now gradually shifting their obsession with Mercedes to Ferrari just because Lewis is gonna be driving for them. Their whole coverage just functions as a Lewis Hamilton cheerleading cast.
Lewis Hamilton reminds me of John Sutrees even though their both 7 time world champions despite the fact , that Surtees won on both 2 and 4 wheels having most of his wins on 2. It's amazing how a British driver is racing for an Italian team. I wonder what Enzo Ferrari thinks of that.
Good for Lewis... Team wasn't listening to him as much commensurate with a 7 time 🏆 champion. Russell was fighting him tooth and nail when possible. Protracted contract talks wasn't a good look as well..
I believe merc was building the car around Russell over Hamilton even though in the media they say they want to help Hamilton win his 8th title. It was kinda fishy they gave Hamilton the 2nd car and then he went with narration how hes going back to his karting days with the yellow helmet and gloves. Maybe its just a conspiracy who knows.
People need to chill out about Kimi. The lad is 17. Him going to Mercedes is more like a possibility for 2028 or later. The big 3 teams don't sign rookies. Albon is the favourite IMO.
Been a Ferrari supporter for 40+ years. This feels so wrong. Leclerc/Sainz was a perfect line-up. This will tear Ferrari apart. Fred cannot manage two strong personalities. He is no Jean Todt. Bad decision.
Even worse if you believe it's true that it was Elkan who went out of the way to sign Lewis and this wasn't really a decision made together with Vasseur.
@@prateekgill27 couldn't agree more, Lewis is legendary. But, he's a lot younger than Fernando. And when you have Seb who is younger than both Alonso and Lewis, then why not bring Seb Back? you know the German Factor.

Looks like horner was right, the Hamiltons were fishing around for a contract. Even if it was a brief chat
Same happens every season if you are top tier! Nothing new.

@dSlayer6160
Mercedes is based in England, but they’re actually a German team because they’re driving under a German license.
When Hamilton (or Russell) wins a race, first the British national anthem is played for him, then the German national anthem for the team.
When Verstappen wins, the Dutch national anthem is played and then the Austrian one, while the team is based in England.
Lewis & Charles are Vastly different drivers he’s the goat I hardly think Ferrari would go thru the trouble of signing him if they weren’t prepared to make a few changes to make a 7x World Champion/the most marketable driver on the planet feel at home
it is like a job, after 10 years most people need a change, new oportunities...etc
If he is able to get another title, he will definetly be in drivers history..
And in an Italian team...hahaha
I see Charles having the edge in qualifying? But race pace is where Lewis comes alive! Just give them a competitive car and wait for the Fireworks 😳
Don't think he has that much more faith in Ferrari than Merc. He definitely just want to try something different, which is no problem.
Just when I thought I was done they pull me right back in .. my Favorite team and my two favorite drivers in that team god .. I just can’t wait !!!!
This definitely feels like last dance for Mercedes and Lewis, will make an interesting documentary
I was wondering if I had slept for 2 months and it was actually April 1st!
Remember all the greats (except Senna) have driven for Ferrari. It’s a great bucket list item.
Max also never drove for Ferrari
Jim Clark???
@@daarom3472 He’s only 26. He could well drive for them in the future.
@@daarom3472 sure it will
@daarom3472 and never will, without redbull and gianpiero lambiase, he is an average good driver.
Maybe, just maybe Lewis wanted to retire with McLaren but Lando signing an extension made him go for the 3rd best car in the grid, after RB and MCL
Fred, what kind of truck am I driving.. Lewis I know the car is bad, just drive it.
Watch Kimi Antonelli wipe the floor with the F2 field this year and Lewis’ replacement will be self explanatory
He won't get Mercedes seat straight away if we have super license. He will have first year Williams.

I hope Seb is coming back and driving the Mercedes. That would be awesome
God... can we skip 2024 season and g for 25 now ??

It was about time something had to change in F1. L44 in Red wow.
Natalie - “Mercedes didn’t look like threatening for a win all year”
Singapore GP and US Grand Prix - “Am I a joke to you?”
exactly HAM was 1 second off at the end despite being disqualified still a hell of a drive in the US and if he and George were swapped at Singapore I believe he would have won that race
So sky will now be all about Ferrari and wont have to listen to the Mercedes dribble just different colours
The right move for Lewis was to Ferrari. I was expecting this move 3 years ago but it seems the timing was right now. There are so many factors if we want to analyze in length about Lewis' decision. I think it was a straightforward decision. Lewis wants to win with Ferrari before ending his career. He has accomplished everything that an F1 driver could dream of. This a mega excitement for him and F1.
So Horner was talking facts when he said he received a call from Lewis's father called him, lewis was looking for another seat for sure
Yup Horner told the truth,LH LIED. LH even accused Horner for lying, remember...
I love this . All thease years i have been ferrari fan , after michael and jean todd ferrari have been on vacation ....and we ferrari fans have seen what lewis did to all our drivers idols . Now if he takes his eights title in ferrari i would love to see that
I'm betting Alex Albon gets the seat when LH leaves. We shall see. But I'm sure Alex has an eye on it now.
Merc needs a star like Alonso! Fernando will get the gig!
Bottas back ;)
alex clearly doesn't want to be a second driver again. hes doing well w williams atm and they are pretty set on being a contending team again. makes more sense if alex wants to stay and build up with williams
Looking forward to seeing Lewis in Red

It is absolutely shocking but I am getting so much goosebumps in dreaming of Lewis winning the 8th championship with Mercedes in 2024 and then leaving them. It would be a farewell like no other. I am still believing that James Allison's W15 will be a strong contender for the championship this season. Lewis winning 8th with Mercedes and 9th with Ferrari is what I am dreaming of now. Great coverage of this - thanks sky team.
They got so much wrong.
Better off away from Ferrari, they never treated him very well. Can’t stand Ferrari, ever since Todt was in charge, nothing but complaints.

In the GOAT discussion the only way for Hamilton to convincingly be listed above Schumacher is by winning a championship with Ferrari. I believe this is the main reason. Then he can be on top of every possible evaluation - whether stat driven or emotion driven.
Hamilton is already statistically above Schumacher and he didn’t even need to cheat to achieve his accomplishments
Hamilton has way better stats than Schumacher already. 105 wins is insane. Plus let's be honest, Lewis won 2021, the race director just decided to break the rules to give the championship to Max after Lewis obliterated Max in the final 5 races.
Drive to survive gonna have a great time with this 😂
Yeah I agree Lewis has moved on due to the constant underperformance from Mercedes but let's not forget the amount of times the team made the wrong decision when it came to orders from the team with pitstops etc
"a team they speak Italian" , as everyone knows Eddie Irvine and Kimi Raikkonen became fluent in Italian after many years in Ferrari
He was stupid for that comment! Being able to speak Italian hasn't helped LeClerc to win anything has it 🙄
It's gonna be funny watching Sky Sports Mercedes F1 now gradually shifting their obsession with Mercedes to Ferrari just because Lewis is gonna be driving for them. Their whole coverage just functions as a Lewis Hamilton cheerleading cast.
At least they don't have to change their colour scheme.
Lewis is Brazilian
Good for Lewis... Team wasn't listening to him as much commensurate with a 7 time 🏆 champion. Russell was fighting him tooth and nail when possible. Protracted contract talks wasn't a good look as well..
I believe merc was building the car around Russell over Hamilton even though in the media they say they want to help Hamilton win his 8th title. It was kinda fishy they gave Hamilton the 2nd car and then he went with narration how hes going back to his karting days with the yellow helmet and gloves. Maybe its just a conspiracy who knows.
I hope Sainz outscores Charles by 100+ points next season.
Can you imagine losing your job after being the only non RB driver to win a race last year.
Aswell! Both are quite acciddnt prone though..
