Good luck to him, and in a way willl put psychological pressure on the likes of Max to do the same at some point in the future if he wants to cement his own legacy.. to win with multiple teams and have teammates who are good enough to challenge you.. personally I think it's an inspired move.. Vettle is a 4 time champion because Adrien Newey gave him a machine that all he had to do was get to the front and keep his foot on the pedal.
I dont like.Max but he is a driver, like Lewis, they can get the maximum out of a car, even starting from the rear and climbing up the field. Vettle could NEVER do that, but he has 4 championships to show...

Look at Mercedes, they let Hamilton and Rosberg race when they were competitive (Bottas was clearly a number 2 driver and nowhere near Hamilton's level so he just had a role to play)
If they're at a similar level, it totally depends on if Ferrari will let them race or not. I can't remember a time where Ferrari haven't got involved with drivers battling over race wins though. They get very political as the brand is more important than any of the drivers. In my lifetime the only teams I've seen that have let their drivers do that, are McLaren (Senna/Prost -Alonso/Hamilton) and Mercedes. Agreed that 2026 is a pivotal year and it seemed as though Mercedes was not bought into Lewis post 2025 and he took an opportunity that may not have been available at the end of the year. Mercedes is not the victim here, they were ready to pivot to the future drivers and it was telling that he was not able to secure a Mercedes brand ambassador role. HUGE gamble because I believe Ferraris total package still has so many holes and inconsistencies via a vis RBR and even via a vis Mercedes but as a fan I will trust Lewis. Hamilton never betrayed McLaren as some saw it in 2012 when everyone assumed he made a career ending decision and would never win again. Mercedes was already heavily involved at McLaren and in his career prior to even being able to sign him. It was a strategic move that paid off. Mercedes prioritized Russel over him and used Hamilton as a test bunny even though he clearly gave them advice and suggestions on the car. They refused to listen, causing them to fail in the aero department untill they started to listen. He did not just build a team at Mercedes, he build a brand at Mercedes to the point people became Mercedes fans, just for him. Increased their spending power, increased their overall revenue and profits by millions and literally owns them absolutely nothing, especially at his age. Became the face of Mercedes when they had to let Michael go. Build that team when they were in the gutter and took them to heights (along with Rosberg) they weren't used too seeing for years. People assume its all about cash when Lewis always spoke about legacy, and always held Ferrari and Vasseur in hugh regard. The most succesfull driver in F1 history signing with the most succesful team in F1 history. He doesn't own Mercedes anything and a Ferrari call is something you won't get again at that age. After all, who doesn't want to drive for a team that represented names such as Schumacher, Raïkkönen, Lauda, Ascari, Fangio, Prost, Seb, Alonso and others. People acting like he does it all for money as if they themselves would hesitate if a team like Ferrari called when you're 39 years old. This is not only legendary for Ferrari's legacy but also for his own legacy.

Well if it isn't the LH pompom gang... So now they're going to be Ferrari fans. Watch the space. I don't know that he will be successful there. If Ferrari have a good car, Charles will win because he has a head start on Lewis. Lewis has to learn the car, the style the culture etc. Ferrari is so different from Merc.

Another big reason for the move never came up in the conversation by the pundits. Read somewhere that Lewis wanted an unlimited contract so that he could decide himself when to quit. He might feel that he deserved such treatment after all he has given Mercedes… but that is not how corporate organisations work. Mercedes felt the need to plan ahead and more or less pushed him out with the yearly contract they have given Lewis. He probably didn’t feel loved anymore…

Carlos to Audi, Alonso or Albon to Mercedes, Lewis and Charles Ferrari, 2025 is going to be insane! 2026 will be a depicting year as well, it's always the year after when driver changes happen, but this is MAD! Being a tifosi since inwas 5 years old in 1999, never in my life would I thought they would've actually made that deal, it is truly the most amazing drive story in F1 history if Lewis wins his 8th for the boys in Maranello! It's the most beautiful story next to Michael schumy and he will be the one to not only surpass him, but he's going to do it in a Ferrari, the dream drive of ever racer in the history of Formula 1, assolutamente Magnifico!!!! Bellissimo!!! Sempre ITALIA E SCUDERIA FERRARI, this is a beautiful move for Ferrari, good for their politics on both Lewis and the team, good for Charles to have a competitive vet that will push him even harder and understanding, 2 number 1's is incredible when it works and Lewis is in the point of his career to where he wants to finish it with the most prestigious club there is in racing, 16 championships, and he will get his 8th with them, it's the most incredible story! Already loved Lewis, but I'm Ferrari from birth to death and after but still supported bo matter what as I do all drivers, but my club is my club, and he is now a part of it, I'm in shock and incredibly ready for the years to come, this is like boxing with a crazy heavy weight division like it is now haha I'm impressed in this move, it's good for the sport

The lure of Ferrari, a lack in confidence with Mercedes, money, business opportunities, a new challenge, the possibility of an eigth win. IMHOP: money comes and money goes an eigth win lasts forever. All the toys you buy, the businesses and foundations you create will fade over time. Who knows how long the record will last. Who knows who it will inspire. And perhaps, the sun the moon and the stars will align again and there will be a new Lewis Hamilton. Good for him!
