I think he was referring more to the Alpines than to Max especially in light of his later comment that Max would have lapped them all if he had started from pole.
Fact is that Max knows how to drive in the wet, Lando apparently doesn't: so my advise to Lando: start practising and maybe you'll get another shot in a few years time , in the meanwhile follow some workshops with Max.
@@johnkochen7264 Even so... with a McLaren Norris has no excuse for not getting past those Alpines. There's only an explanation: the McLaren isn't good enough to make up for the Lando Norris deficit.
Not just a little harsh on Lawson there. He made a couple of small errors but kept it clean & in 1 piece, defended very well against Piastri, Perez & Hamilton in superior machinery. Putting him in the same bucket as a guy who wrote 2 cars off is a little absurd in my opinion.
Norris should have been given a 10s penalty 23 May 2007 - 4 seconds to go: if the start is aborted, the drivers will have to do a second formation lap five minutes later. c) If any other problem arises, and if the Race Director decides the start should be delayed, the following procedures shall apply: i) If the race has not been started, the abort lights will be switched on, a board saying “DELAYED START” will be displayed, engines should be stopped and all Competitors will be informed of the likely delay using the official messaging system. Once the start time is known at least five minutes warning will be given. Why don't we see false starts in F1? Is there some ... Because the drivers get penalised for false starts. The penalty is a drive-through, which looses the driver about 30 seconds (give or take, depending on track). But Haas did fall foul of a stewards' investigation with both their cars after it was ruled that the team's messages at the end of the formation lap telling Magnussen and Grosjean to pit for dry tyres broke 'driver aid' radio rules. Both drivers were. While Magnussen dropped behind Sainz, Grosjean slipped a place to 16th behind Alfa Romeo's Kimi Raikkonen.
Zero mistakes. Passing cars in the wet where no one else would, 6 of those on lap 1. Seventeen fastest laps. A true tribute to Senna's statement all those years ago: "the rain makes the cars equal, but not the drivers". Even better than in 2016, if you ask me.
Liberty Media need a close finish to the drivers championship, so they got together with the F.I.A to sabotage Red Bull and Max, notice the penalties to Red Bull are heavier than for other teams/ drivers. Rigging the Championship so viewing figures are maintained is also dangerous, drivers getting away with dangerous driving just to keep the championship race alive. Max has been hammered by the British Media, an absolute disgrace. During the race the British commentators were crying as Max drove through the pack, took the lead and then they just talked about ANY other driver rather than MAX. Then after the race the British Media flew out of Brazil, MAX calling them out.
This drive from Max was not only the 5th drive from 17th or lower position, it is in the current period where the cars are much more equal than before.
Roeland, it was bad luck for Norris with the red flag and not bad luck for Max during Q as there was no luck in play during Q. It was almost deliberate screwing Max, so no bad “luck”
Max is an absolute legend.. It's hard to hold your foot down in the rain. He had the balls to go TAKE a 4th title in the rain in one of the best drives of all time..
Ian said Bearman, Colapinto and Lawson looked like F2 drivers. Please explain what Lawson did wrong in the race? He had one small off in Q1, qualified 5th, got tagged by Piastri (who admitted fault) in the race causing him to spin (which saw him lose two places), got passed by three much faster cars (Verstappen, Leclerc and Piastri) and managed to hold out Perez then Hamilton for many laps for 9th place.
Agree with Ian that the rookies, Franco, Ollie and Lance all looked out of their depth. But I disagree about Lawson, only spin came curtesy of Piastri's front wing, passed cars, held off Lewis and Checo and finished 9th. Alright for a rookie on a new track in the pouring rain I'd say.🤨
And Piastri showed to be a class act by apologizing to Lawson during the red flag and post race admitting the penalty he got was deserved. Personality wise and as a driver he is better than Norris. I even think Piastri has a bigger chance to become world champion than Norris.
More than his race, the absurd decisions by FIA, clearly favoring Norris, changed the tide in favor of Verstappen. Just a fine for driving under suspended session and red lights, in a dangerous track and without a safety car, putting all drivers at risk? "Nah, it will be (a) fine". If it was Max, it would mean immediate DSQ.
Lando was schooled in the Gp today and his reaction in the media interview says it all, blaming Luck and Red flags for the Max win !?!?!? Funny Lando have a problem with a red flag now ???? As far as I know a red Flag cost Max to miss out in Q2 ...Also Lando's first win in Miami was because of a Red Flag ....what was Max's response, actually defending Lando from the press ... "You win some you loose some, its part of racing" Then I'm not even mentioning Lando wanting to pit 7 laps before he actually did but his team said NO .... He would have lost 27s in that pit stop and wouldn't even be in the points !!!! You Lando are the epitome of a hypocrite !!! ....... Max broke Checo in Miami 2023 and he has never recovered from that!!! Lando looked a broken boy in the media Pen ....was this the last we saw of Lando ???
WHAT extenuating circumstances??? On Lando’s onboard you read the matrix lights: aborted start. This a gross mistake by the FIA who have been screaming safety safety safety and then a driver driving off when a cars is beached and marshals on track. But THIS is just $5k fine. It is a joke!!
Skysports seem intent to ruin the viewer experience with their BS commentary. Lando has a cool racing personality, but they make it difficult to like any Brit
I don't think even Max's haters can hate on the performance he put in. And the best part is that the Stewarts tried to not let it happen, and they still failed.
This was the beat f1 performance i have ever seen from a driver. But 2016 max in the rain was a revelation and showed the world what a legend max was going to become.
Verstappen flipped a giant bird to the ever so biased English F1 analysts at the exact right time. With all due respect, but it is high time the English tone it down a bit, in all sports, not only F1. The sheer arrogance and false sense of privilege is becoming unbearable. And no, no world championship trophy is coming home, ever, as world championship trophies do not have a country as a home.....
Refresh my memory. What did Liam Lawson do to warrant being thrown in with Colapinto and Bearman for looking out of his depth? I just remember him spinning after getting rear ended.
The way the rules are being interpreted has turned F1 into a jury sport. Infringements that are entirely similar are explained as serious endangerment even though no driver has been injured when it concerns Max, and as procedural events when Lando is involved. New rules have to be invented to stop Max passing others, but Lando gets away with leaving the track and maintaining his position, even though he clearly has had a major advantage from taking a shortcut.
That was insane.. other drivers had to take evasive action when he rejoined and still no penalty. Not to mention the baffling starting error which pas "penalized" with a $5000 fine. He literally drove on a track where marshals were still working... unbelievable.
it's strange to me that nobody mentions bazil 2016. max was not WC back then he just started. in a car that surly wasn't the fastest car either in that year. Also the save coming on to the strait just keeping it out of the wall at +200km (if i remember the speed correctly) to use a well know qoute "simply lovely".
Max's greatest F1-victory will always be his first time in the Red Bull car in Barcelona 2016. He won his first GP the first time he raced in that car. To me, that is just the greatest thing you can do in the sport.
Max - what can you say? Champion sums it up - simply amazing drive. But i admit, i liked the final 20 laps the most - 17 best laps ending up he reclaimed the 20 seconds the stewards stole from him in Mexico. KARMA at its finest.
Rain is the great Equalizer that negates the differences in car performance. It showed who the great drivers are. Alpine drivers on podium, Albon’s amazing quali, Max P17 start to win.
17th to the win, in the rain, at Senna's home. This was the greatest drive I've ever seen. Max had the perfect drive, he was in total control every second of the race. Alpine in second was also special, the happiness of Ocon and Gasley to be on the podium was priceless.
His best drive, for me, is still his win in Spain, 2017. It wasn't just keeping Raikonen behind him on driving skill, but his knowledge of the Ferraris engine he knew when and how much he had to recharge his engine. 17 years of age, first time in a race winning car, all eyes on him and he wins that race...
Max goes close to Piastri near the end of the virtual safety car, gets a penalty, drops a place. Lando did a false start, and other infringements, no penalties. Hulk, car helped by marhalls, Black flagged. Mercs break rules by adjusting tyre pressure..a fine. Doesn't quite look fair does it? It reminds me of when Jean-Marie Balestre was FIA president and Prost won because of Sennas ridiculous penalty
14:26 It’s procedural but a it’s kind of a false/wrong start. Correctly positioning is also a procedural thing. If not correctly executed you get a time penalty like Perez. It’s the FIA biase in my opinion.
Saying that Lando had bad luck glosses over the fact that he was particularly lucky in qualifying, both by getting out of Q1, and by Max missing on setting a time through no fault of his own.
Besides that, Lando kept asking to pit when other drivers, and Max and Esteban (and/or their teams) in particular, were clever enough to understand that there was a big chance the race would be red flagged. But with the faultless drive and incredible pace of Max he probably would have finished before Lando anyway.
It was a repeat race born in 2016 in Brazil...also in the heavy rain......@ such a young age already.....he started also from position 16......and got 3th.
Winning race strategy at Brazil: Go long and wait for the inevitable red flag. Three drivers chose this strategy. After the red flag, those three drivers finished the race 1, 2, 3.
Brazil reminded me of Vettel in 2012, when he beat Alosno for the title. rain, rain and more rain, was wrecked fell to last place, huge hole in side of his car, 5 pit stops, fights back thru the field to 6th.... wins the WC.
I want to see Max in a midfield car. It will show us all even more how good he is. Like Vettel winning in Imola in a Torro Rosso. Ironically, if you look at Perez alone, the Red Bull is a midfield car right now. Yes, that sounds very silly.
That wasnt rain. Those were johnny herberts and Damon hills tears 😂😂

@@johnkochen7264 Even so... with a McLaren Norris has no excuse for not getting past those Alpines. There's only an explanation: the McLaren isn't good enough to make up for the Lando Norris deficit.
Must rank as one of the all time great drives of f1 (1950 - 2004). Well done Max.😮
Fastest laps galore for MAX
Not just a little harsh on Lawson there. He made a couple of small errors but kept it clean & in 1 piece, defended very well against Piastri, Perez & Hamilton in superior machinery. Putting him in the same bucket as a guy who wrote 2 cars off is a little absurd in my opinion.
Johnny Herbert needs to be REMOVED from the Steward role!!!!
Norris did get lucky that he only got a 5k fine. Should have been a time penalty
Norris should have been given a 10s penalty
23 May 2007 - 4 seconds to go: if the start is aborted, the drivers will have to do a second formation lap five minutes later.
c) If any other problem arises, and if the Race Director decides the start should be delayed, the following procedures shall apply:
i) If the race has not been started, the abort lights will be switched on, a board saying “DELAYED START” will be displayed, engines should be stopped and all Competitors will be informed of the likely delay using the official messaging system.
Just a fine for Lando for wrong start procedures and Mercedes also just a fine for tampering with tire pressure?
Because they are Brits.
Incredible rulings by FIA, absolutely incredible. George was disqualified on a technicality in Belgium, what happened here?
as long as it involves British drivers there are barely any penalties of course.
Johny the jealous herbert should be fired !
Zero mistakes. Passing cars in the wet where no one else would, 6 of those on lap 1. Seventeen fastest laps. A true tribute to Senna's statement all those years ago: "the rain makes the cars equal, but not the drivers". Even better than in 2016, if you ask me.
Perfect, I agree.
Amazing max absolutely Amazing congratulations alpine
Great talk but a bit harsh on Lawson. He still ended up in the points with Piastri spinning him around and keeping sir Hamilton and Perez behind him.
This drive from Max was not only the 5th drive from 17th or lower position, it is in the current period where the cars are much more equal than before.
Damon hill shut his mouth pretty fast this weekend 😂
How is it NOT bad luck when Max gets screwed by the red flag, but TOTALLY bad luck when it's Norris? RN365, your bias is showing!
Roeland, it was bad luck for Norris with the red flag and not bad luck for Max during Q as there was no luck in play during Q. It was almost deliberate screwing Max, so no bad “luck”
Also the time he got back is never mentioned.
@@WeAreQuestionDutch Yep
Max is an absolute legend.. It's hard to hold your foot down in the rain. He had the balls to go TAKE a 4th title in the rain in one of the best drives of all time..
Hill had to eat humble pie in the post F1 show when interviewing Horner
Why did they not punish Max Verstappen for finishing first!
So Max got fined/penalized worse for swearing than Lando did for not following the rules and putting another driver in danger. Make this make sense?
Easy. You know the answer. Lando has a British passport.
Agreed
Your comments on Lawson are shocking and yes, the stewards need to be replaced.
My thoughts exactly. What did he think Lawson did wrong today? Plus he qualified p5 for the sprint…..
And Piastri showed to be a class act by apologizing to Lawson during the red flag and post race admitting the penalty he got was deserved. Personality wise and as a driver he is better than Norris. I even think Piastri has a bigger chance to become world champion than Norris.
Sainz is getting a pass it seems?
So that went well for Max - J. Herbert
Lando is a toxic mix of hypocrisy, insecurity, incompetence, narcissism and bad humor to cover it all up.
Lando has the extenuating circumstance of passport.
I mean Lando cannot read, so that is extenuating circumstances.
What did we watch today, what a drive!
Absolute masterclass!
@RN365COM yes why love f1 have for 30 years and congratulations to alpine needed that had difficult few years.
It's was simply lovely 😊
Max agreed it was his best race
Skysports seem intent to ruin the viewer experience with their BS commentary.
Lando has a cool racing personality, but they make it difficult to like any Brit
Huh. Lando hinself is making it hard to like him.
If you think Lando has a cool personality, other scammers would love you to.
@FrancisFjordCupola
i was careful with my words, I said racing personality.
I don't think even Max's haters can hate on the performance he put in. And the best part is that the Stewarts tried to not let it happen, and they still failed.
You'd be surprised
@@abdulwahabal-maliky9129 Perhaps I am underestimating the irrational mind of a hater. You are correct.
They can still dsq someone in front of Lando to give Lando +2pts,
Well, basically they made it happen
@@DarkLordAzagthoth They can but then the blatant corruption Will become even more obvious and I doubt They want That on their hands.
Max showed them all how to win a championship
This was the beat f1 performance i have ever seen from a driver. But 2016 max in the rain was a revelation and showed the world what a legend max was going to become.
Hill looked in the post race interview as if he had shitted his trousers 😂
Verstappen flipped a giant bird to the ever so biased English F1 analysts at the exact right time.
With all due respect, but it is high time the English tone it down a bit, in all sports, not only F1. The sheer arrogance and false sense of privilege is becoming unbearable.
And no, no world championship trophy is coming home, ever, as world championship trophies do not have a country as a home.....
Refresh my memory. What did Liam Lawson do to warrant being thrown in with Colapinto and Bearman for looking out of his depth? I just remember him spinning after getting rear ended.
so did Albon in quali
You know Max is the best because no other driver in history caused F1 to change the rules as often as they did in order for them to stop him.
it's strange to me that nobody mentions bazil 2016. max was not WC back then he just started. in a car that surly wasn't the fastest car either in that year.
Also the save coming on to the strait just keeping it out of the wall at +200km (if i remember the speed correctly) to use a well know qoute "simply lovely".
Shame Max' throwback meme didn't get noticed.
english pasport ... no time just a 5000 slap on the wrist ...
Lawson finished 9th…did you not noticed?
They notice nothing. Broken eyes.
What a sore loser Norris proved himself to be, I couldn’t stand him before , I can’t stand him even more now
Agree, he is acting like an entitled Mercedes driver!
Rain is the great Equalizer that negates the differences in car performance. It showed who the great drivers are. Alpine drivers on podium, Albon’s amazing quali, Max P17 start to win.
Why is time allowed to run away in qualifying when someone caused a red flag? Its a stupid rule, stupid FIA !
Greatest victory is Brazil 2024.
Greatest drive was Brazil 2016
Not just Colapinto, Lawson and Bearman looked as F2 drivers, but Lance looked worst and made a F3 mistake.
Max Verstappen is not losing the Constructor’s Championship.
Max is so stunning w/this race , a perfect driver performance
17th to the win, in the rain, at Senna's home. This was the greatest drive I've ever seen. Max had the perfect drive, he was in total control every second of the race. Alpine in second was also special, the happiness of Ocon and Gasley to be on the podium was priceless.
His best drive, for me, is still his win in Spain, 2017. It wasn't just keeping Raikonen behind him on driving skill, but his knowledge of the Ferraris engine he knew when and how much he had to recharge his engine.
17 years of age, first time in a race winning car, all eyes on him and he wins that race...
Good story. Unfortunately for you it was Spain 2016 and he was 18 years old
Max goes close to Piastri near the end of the virtual safety car, gets a penalty, drops a place.
I think this is one of if not Max's best victory. It was clinically precise and frankly showed a massive amount of "talent".
14:26 It’s procedural but a it’s kind of a false/wrong start.
Correctly positioning is also a procedural thing. If not correctly executed you get a time penalty like Perez.
It’s the FIA biase in my opinion.
Lando shouldn't have said what he did about talent and luck...
MV the goat
Do away with DRS & see how these drivers battle out on skills
Saying that Lando had bad luck glosses over the fact that he was particularly lucky in qualifying, both by getting out of Q1, and by Max missing on setting a time through no fault of his own.
Forget a bout Verstappen 's luck. If so Landon Norris should gave come 2nd at least. But he made theberrors by himself loosing track with his car ..
Besides that, Lando kept asking to pit when other drivers, and Max and Esteban (and/or their teams) in particular, were clever enough to understand that there was a big chance the race would be red flagged. But with the faultless drive and incredible pace of Max he probably would have finished before Lando anyway.
Not his greatest, but for sure a epic drive in F1 history. Masterclass it is.
After they let Lando finish quali under yellow flag
It was a repeat race born in 2016 in Brazil...also in the heavy rain......@ such a young age already.....he started also from position 16......and got 3th.
Absolutely max champion again 💪
You said the rookies looked out of their depth. But Sainz crashed twice and nothing about his terrible performance.
Just above 2016 Brazilian GP, this was the drive of the last decade.
Congrats max
You can all blame me. After the disastrous qualifying session I prayed for rain and a repeat performance of 2016. I got my wish and then some.
I prayed for a win for Max and not so good race for Lando🤭...🙏🏻♥️
Donington Park 1993 And Interlagos 2024... To the two best performances I've ever seen
Winning race strategy at Brazil: Go long and wait for the inevitable red flag. Three drivers chose this strategy. After the red flag, those three drivers finished the race 1, 2, 3.
Max , simply the Best.🎉
Brazil reminded me of Vettel in 2012, when he beat Alosno for the title. rain, rain and more rain, was wrecked fell to last place, huge hole in side of his car, 5 pit stops, fights back thru the field to 6th.... wins the WC.
While a great drive on its own, the pressure of constantly losing points each race raises this to the next level.
Fia thinks it is irresponsible that Max drove so fast in bad weather conditions
Believe me, Two people said that Max was irresponsible for driving like that.... I swear!
Max is Dutch, this means two things, first you speak your mind, second, act normal, you are weird as it is.
And those are some of the reasons why I'm learning Dutch
@@zaciswierd8739hoe gaat het zover? Kun je al vloeiende zinnen spreken?
He was driving like the track was dry compared to the other drivers
I want to see Max in a midfield car. It will show us all even more how good he is. Like Vettel winning in Imola in a Torro Rosso.
Ironically, if you look at Perez alone, the Red Bull is a midfield car right now. Yes, that sounds very silly.
Stroll and Perez are the lucky ones to still have a seat
