@@alise4377 yeah the job I was offered fell through, they haven't got back to me with a start date but currently working on breaking into tech, working on portfolio rn so I can start applying. Hopefully things work out. And dude same here, most of my friends are employed with cool careers or have successful businesses, I pulled up snapchat last night and saw one of my highschool friends promoting an event he was running while in a frickin Lamborghini Urus, and I'm here sleeping on a sofa lol. It made me depressed but hey, I'm only 23, and as long as I stay consistent and try my best, but at the very least stay consistent I'm sure I can turn my life around and gain a solid career foundation. And I yeah, degrees don't mean much tbh, depending on what you get one in tbf. Like I have a degree and it really doesn't help, in fact it hinders me, as jobs I would like in the degree field wouldn't hire me while lower paying jobs in different fields wouldn't hire me because I was "overqualified". I'd say just get a skill that's high paying and you can learn online for free, preferably in tech as it gives you freedom as well as high earning potential, and get a portfolio and start applying or freelancing. Hope that helps, we can make it out of our situations.

I am and it's overwhelming everytime. You tend to loose confidence, and also feels lazy to work on your skills. Sometimes you are over qualified for job and sometimes under qualified. Also thinking to change the field. Especially change to IT due to high lucrative salary. Unable to control your mind. And then you got headache and you go to sleep and this process repeats.

Idk what to do… I’ve been unemployed for a couple of months now and it honestly suck. I stay with my parents and I don’t want to be a burden to them. I wish a company would just hire me everyday but no hope 😢 I’ve been having headaches and both my eyes feel swollen from the back because of stress. I try to stay positive but that doesn’t work. Been unemployed for 6 years. Living with my parents. It’s a living hell. What’s worse, is being told that everything I want is being paid for. What an arrogant and ignorant statement. Things I’ve wanted have gone out of stock because I didn’t have the money to pay for them.
No travel. No luxuries whatsoever. Expired makeup. No latest fashion. No going out with friends to nice places. I don’t have a penny in the bank. No money for a wedding. It’s a living hell. My worst nightmare. I can’t wait for the hero who’ll sweep me off my feet and get me the hell out of here. I can’t wait to have a job and meet him after work.
Unemployment is worse than death. It’s the worst torture. It ruins your self esteem, corrodes your brain, corroded your skill set and intelligence and leaves you with nothing. Unemployment is not a break. It’s death. You can request a break from work which ensures that you still have the job.
Employed people live the BEST life. They work with like minded people, socialise and travel far more than unemployed people do. There’s nothing worse than boredom. Unemployment and boredom are the biggest curse.
A job is never more difficult than being unemployed. At work, you achieve targets everyday. You know that you’re climbing the career ladder. It’s very difficult to wake up with NO purpose, no achievement and nothing to look forward to.
You become less attractive in the dating world because you don’t live like a responsible adult. You also don’t have any recent achievements. No personal growth which is strongly linked to career growth. There’s no personal growth sitting at home and doing nothing at home. That includes all domestic work. It doesn’t teach you planning or critical thinking. You can’t get a top job by using unemployment or sitting at home, as work experience on a CV.
Having a job and living alone or with your fiancé/spouse, is the best life.
Nothing beats having it all. Top job, a house, love, kids, travel and luxury. Only lucky people get it all. Blessed people are on their 4th and 5th job while some people haven’t gotten their first job. It’s not true that companies aren’t hiring because they never post the same job vacancy twice, which means it’s been filled. Companies ARE hiring.

Six years is an inordinately long time. What have you done to change things up? Any new courses to improve your skills or get into a new field? Have you tried using alternative methods to applying for jobs online, like walking into shops with a 'now hiring' sign? Have you tried doing some online kind of job to freelance? Clearly, something is wrong and you need to make changes.

Jobs are out there you just to be willing to do the work no one wants to.
I was unemployed for about a year in my early 20s and instead of complaining about it I went through about a 100 applications a week every for any and every job I could find.
Found a job building furniture for a police academy for their class rooms and also running Ethernet cables through the walls and ceilings of their offices and class rooms. Had no clue how to do either but I learned on the job and now have two more skills and experience to add to future resumes.
Then I found a decent manual labor job in the agricultural field and it’s been where I’ve been at for years worked went from seasonal part time and worked way up to permanent full time worked straight through covid with it.
Moral of the story is you gotta be willing to do odd jobs you might now have experience in or take jobs you don’t wanna do in order to get work. But every job will add more skills and experience and make it easier in the future.

Hey, If this helps anyone… living with your parents until you’re ready to move out IS OKAY. Don’t worry about the people who aren’t paying you or your bills. Especially if you have a plan, if you don’t, make one. Be kind to your parents, give them rent money to show your gratitude, help around the house and any job even a cashier is a start. Don’t feel shame for protecting and building your financial future in a way that suits you, don’t move in with a room mate and pay $1k/mth for a box if you don’t have to!

What’s worse, is depressed and stressed people who see stress and depression everywhere, because they’re unhappy with their income not increasing and their marriage falling apart, and want you be stuck in your parents house, and claim that you’re stressed and depressed like them. They want to force depression on you, so that you’re not social, entertaining, don’t go out, don’t get a top job or marry an eligible bachelor.
The worst is jealous, unemployed and single people or people in bad marriages, who glorify your unemployment and single life because they don’t want you to be well off and they certainly don’t want you to date an eligible bachelor or marry one.
They offer shit unsolicited advice. Advice that goes against your skill set, sensibilities and goals. What you’re dying for, they advice against. They don’t want you to achieve your dreams. They want to hold you back from being the best that you can be, surrounded by people who are good for YOUR sensibilities but make them insecure.
They want to hold you back so they advise you against everything they don’t have. People show their true colours.
One day, I’ll tell my eligible bachelor about the stupid advice people have me and he’ll be disgusted. One day, when I become super successful and I live the best life, I’ll write a book about all the nasty statements and advice people gave me, which has resulted in me being 33 years old, single and unemployed with no friends and no future.
They wasted my time with their stupid shit. It’s been a shit experience. I’ve lived my worst nightmare. I’ve fallen to the lowest degree possible. It’s only upwards from here and I can’t wait.

What’s worse, is people psychopaths who live with their parents for money and inheritance and claim that you should live with your parents because they’re getting old. So when I finally do get a job and get married, my parents will be OLDER than they are now. They don’t need to be taken care of. And I most certainly am not volunteering.
Leaving behind an adult daughter who has no love, kids, friends or job, is called SHIT parenting. Not good parenting. Luckily, my parents don’t want me to live with them and never asked me to do so.
I’d be embarrassed to have a 33 year old adult child live with me unemployed, single and no social life. I wouldn’t glorify it or parade her in front of people. I’d be ashamed of not doing enough to ensure that she’s independent. I’d see it as a personal failure and curse. Not as a blessing. I certainly wouldn’t get up everyday and go about my day, as if it’s normal to have a 33 year old adult child live with me.
