"If you don't build your dreams, then someone else will hire you to build theirs." - so true
i don't think everybody's dream is building something.
Maybe building dreams is the problem. What if it’s better to live in the moment and be satisfied with just enough?
@@helloalanframe It depends, if a person lives better than you thanks to your work, takes the merits and earns more money than you, when you are the one who promoted their dream, and suddenly you go through a difficult stage in your life, that person you helped build their dream will not be affected; It will do well, while you will be left regretting why you didn't invest that energy in yourself, instead of "feeling satisfied" and saying to yourself, "I have enough with this."
There is also the situation of investing all your effort and energy in the dream of someone else, someone who shares your same vision but has more resources to realize it. However, you are actually working towards THEIR dream, and if this person ultimately doesn't fulfill it, all your work is wasted, thus wasting valuable time from your life.
@@ElitePortraits this is what I have in my mind these past few weeks, I am unemployed right now and been looking for jobs but this thought keeps entering in my mind. I don't want to work for anybody else, I want to work on my own dream and that is to establish anything that I can call my own because that's what you call an investment in the future.
@@helloalanframe That’s good for YOU. Not everyone wants “just enough”.
"stress is expensive". AMEN. stress will make you pay one way or another
I had this feeling of dissatisfaction, self hatered, and quiting in every job. The moment I quit I always felt the most happier.
i feel you
"if you don't build your dreams, then someone will hire you to build theirs". that's so true.
thank you for watching ❤
This is exactly my situation. I bought a car because I thought it could motivate me to stay in the job I hated. I go out every weekend and be happy for a day until Monday comes again. I always have a mental break down before I start working. My attitude changed so much it affected my relationship with my husband. I always vent and lash out at him. I quit my job this month even if it meant my income would be cut in half and even if I lost a friend because of that decision. I no longer care if I lose the car I just bought. It's just not worth it. I decided to just live simply with a peace of mind.
Glad that your living a more meaningful live now, glad that you have more time to spent with your family and friends because that is what matters the most in life.
You are lucky you even have the privilege to quit and still not have some income coming in. I dont get the people who complain about working 9-5 then quitting when they have the opportunity to do just that yet have a safety net cushion to fall back on aka here your husband. Hopefully youre treating you husband better now since you can take a break and they cant for the time being and you didnt mention anything about after quitting and improvements in the relationship
I just left my job this week, I'm scared of my future, but I'm currently happy that I left. A hugeee baggage was removed from my back. WE CAN DO THIS!!
I’m watching this after writing my resignation letter after having a huge debate with myself . I’m 25 now
Putting in my 2 week notice next week. I'm tired of the abuse from jealous bosses. I realize they're jealous for good reason, I BELONG in the spotlight!
How did it go?
That’s where i Am right now. I just wanted to quit.
"I couldn't handle the gap between my dreamy weekend and the reality."
This resonates with me sooo much, which is why I finally decided to resign a few days ago. Watching your video makes me feel like I definitely did the right thing. Thank you so much for sharing your journey! It's such an important message. ❤
thank you so much ❤ I'm so happy to hear that my message and story resonated with you :)
@@solarydays I agree, I’m very privileged to be born in Japan and have this type of problem. I’m grateful for that everyday.
Just wanted to mention that my starting salary was $1600/mo in 2019, and my parents have nothing to do with my career as they are in education field. anyways, thank you for watching! :)
I m on the same boat
i wish i had the dreamy weekend. i work through the weekend and i dont have enough to save a penny :'( i actually like my job. i just hate not having time or money
so you resigned and now how much money do you make?
Left my 9-5 in January 2024 and I will NEVER look back.
How are you going about it
did you have a plan? money saved? just curious
I love that TH-cam recommends me new smaller TH-camrs. Your cutting and story telling skills are very impressive. Normally this quality. Only 100k TH-camrs do
thank you very much :)
Interesting take with a lot of great points.. I quit my 9-5 about 3 years ago and returned to it this year because I realized that as much as I hated the cons it came with, it still came with a lot of benefits as well.. and I realized having that safety net right now is extremely important, especially when you have people relying on you like a significant other. I learned that we can have a 9-5 and do something creatively, but we just give ourselves excuses to NOT do the thing because we're worn out with our jobs. There's going to be different seasons of your life that demands different things from you and knowing how to deal with them is important. At the end of the day, I don't think there's 1 answer to these complex issues, but I learned to continue and persevere no matter what season I'm in.
Hope this helps someone!
well said
thank you for sharing your story! I totally agree, there's no right or wrong answer, and having dependents make it so much harder to sustain this lifestyle.
exactly
agreed! I think we just need a mix of good things to make it work: good pay, good management, some aspect u actually like about ur job...but more importantly time/energy to do the things that feed your soul
I am a nurse and I cannot wait to find a normal average 9-5, its been years. It's time. I'm ready
Amen! 🙂
I quit my job 5 months ago, also without any 'real' plan. I'm also turning 29 in 2 months. Thank you for encouraging people to keep going and not losing faith! Greetings from Greece!
thank you for watching :) I visited Greece last year, it was so beautiful I loved it! I would love to visit again!
I totally understood when she said that she didn´t even know who she was anymore. It happened the same for me working as a teacher, so I quit this past week, and now my need is to give myself time to find myself again and follow my gut.
I never knew teachers were underpaid
Me too, totally understood what she mean that she didn't even know who she was, I'd been in her situation too, and that's very difficult it's like losing your own sanity. 😔😢
You won't believe I am an African Man experiencing exactly what You are describing...capitalism made us lose the real meaning of things because everything has been replaced by the pursuit of money...May the supreme Authority of the Universe help us to get back on the track that trully correspond to who we really are...
Do you mean God? God sees everything and He is The only God.
Yes.
❤ I pray for this as well
Why wouldn’t we would believe that?
Because you’re African?
This hits everyone hard when it comes to work
Unfortunately life is a journey. It starts off hard at the beginning but eventually you will reap the rewards.
Glad to hear your story. I just left my career of 19 years in the finance industry. I’m 45 and also thought to my self why am I giving my life and energy for someone else. It’s never too late to make this move. I’ve never been happier, I’m able to focus on my family and my business. Anyone can do it, when you put your mind to it.
Awesome I wanna quit my job of 17 years so bad it causes me tremendous anxiety everyday but I have a wife and 4 kids relying on me I’m also 45 and look forward to the weekend but hate Sundays cause I know I have to go back to work
I want to quit too, what kind of business you do?
Really like that mindset
This is such an inspiring video. I loved it when you said "You are replaceable". Last night I was talking to my friend about how I cannot take a leave because who will do my work andwhe I heard talk about being replaceable,it just struck me that literally everyone can be replaced.
We need to prioritise ourselves.
thank you so much :)
This is absolutely insane... I lost my dad suddenly and tragically I'm Feb. A few weeks later I quit my job that I hated with no back up plan either... I am also 29 as well and I thought I would be in such a different place at this point in my life 🥺😞 but my dad's death taught me that I was taking so much for granted and some things are worth your time and energy and some things absolutely are not. I am now in the process of trying to build my portfolio so I can do a tattoo apprenticeship which is something I've wanted to do for such a long time but never persued because it would disappoint so many people but now I want to live for me. Thank you so much for this video. It acted as confirmation for me❤❤❤❤❤❤
Sending you all the love luck and well wishes from South Africa x
I'm 28 and totally understand you! Be proud of your decision and don't look back, we deserve to be happy ❤
Hi Mako, Keep spreading this message, love it! " you will never be this young or healthy again" - perfectly said. Been struggling with my health for 5 years, finally decided to go plant based and quit my 9-5. My health is turning around for the first time in years.
thank you!!
I'm not yet successful, still in debt, but so tired of my work. I feel guilty that I "hate" my job but I am thankful for it that I can feed my cats and pay my bills. But I still feel so miserable everyday lol. Maybe 1 day after paying all the debts and save money for my cats, I can finally be able to "quit". Congratulations to you. Please take care of your health!
Thank you so much and please take care of yours too! I hope you will be able to find a good solution for you and for your cat!
shout out to you for taking care of your cats, ive got 2 😎
Same 😢 hope I can pay my debts soon and earn enough for my cats before I quit my job.
Try the Dave Ramsey method for debt. I know he's a old white guy, but it could help and light a fire within you to actually achieve that goal of yours of paying off debt and making an emergency fund of a year plus to be able to take off some time. I wish you luck.
Lol people these days need retirement plans for the cats lol. Talking about meaningless life, it seems that the crazy cat lady stereotype is real after all.
I just turned 26 last Sunday and I am planning to quit my 9-5 job. Yes, I am scared to let go of this job because I have bills to pay, but I am now ready to embark on a new journey to do the things I really want to do and go out of my comfort zone. thanks for this 🥰🥰✨✨
thank you so much and congratulations on your new journey✨ I hope both of us will continue to enjoy the ride, and I know we will make it as long as we keep chasing our dream 🥰
The irony is... I hate my job and not getting paid correctly. I am just broken inside. crying everyday. feeling burnout all the time.
thank you for watching, I hope you will find a solution soon!
I'm sorry, I wish you well! What was the irony?
I’m turning 29 this year - I used to work in a corporate office 3 years ago, but I didn’t feel like myself, or I just felt really lost and miserable. But I knew I would be more happy if I was doing something creative instead. So since then, I became a freelance illustrator, and it’s been a fulfilling experience 👌 Right now I’m figuring out what more creative things to do (like opening an online store, making merch or digital goods etc)
It’s super nice to hear your story, I relate to your experience 💙 I’m glad to hear that you’re happy and doing something that’s fulfilling to you
in the office ?! hah..u havent tried working 13h/Day at restaurants and washing dishes... thats the real hell im 31 yo now and this job is killing my soul and body
@@project0332 Everyone’s lives are different with different jobs that have different struggles that come with it 🤔 I think we don’t have to compare who’s having a harsher work experience over another
@@project0332 I think comparing each other’s lives doesn’t seem fair if you’re assuming that my struggles in my career aren’t that much 🤔 because everyone is different with different jobs that come with its own difficulties. At the end of the day I think we are all trying to get through life and we have the choice to make decisions that can make us happy in the long run
@@project0332 .. likewise! Me too, I came from a restaurant. There's not enough benefit, although .. I was just a waitress? But, my job was intense, it would make you burn out & mentally exhausted! And, the pay*out well .. even seldom for paying the bills aren't enough 😒! Later on by the end of the day, you'd even feel miserable adjusting? There's no comfort zone when you felt heavy from weighing a responsibility, just for a foolish job!
"It's a pity ..✌️😬!"
@@project0332Right. Everyone is complaining about their nice office job sitting at the desk . I work in kennel. Listed to loud dog bark all day long. Pick up poop and clean diarhea. Go outside with dogs in heat, cold, rain. Have no heathcare benefits and i get paid 16 an hour. Work starts at 6 am. And i am not complaining. Yes work in office its so damn hard 😂😂😂😂😂. What a bunch off loosers.
Your video just got recommended to me and I’m really happy about that. I am turning 29 in 2 weeks and still studying law besides my 9-5 job. I hate my studies so much and hardly pass any tests as I am not passionate about it anymore. My family still wants to see me as a future lawyer, but I cannnot see myself anymore in this position. I developed a huge passion for aviation and want to become an airplane pilot, but I am struggling financially. So I decided to finish my studies and once I get my degree I will quit the whole corporate / law world and do what really makes me happy 😊.
I totally understand how it's like to feel the pressure to continue going on the traditional, default path... but it's amazing that you found your passion for aviation! I'm so excited for you that you are on the road to quit and do what makes you happy 😊
Follow your passion. You can do it. Airline pilots make really good money so your parents should not worry....at least in the USA they do.
I’m sure you’d make a great pilot in the AirForce. You’d make a great officer.
YESSS🙌🏻🙌🏻 I did law school too but pursuing my passion now🥰
Thank you for this video, Mako! Sometimes I feel like I failed because I quit my job without a clear next step. When I see someone successful like you who did the same as me, I feel more confident that things will work out. No matter what the next step is, what's important is that we live the way we want to live
Exactly, we should live the life we want without any hesitation
and how is your life with no income?
i subscribed, please start
I'm also thinking about leaving my 8-5 job. But... we get weekends off, benefits are good, and we get paid holidays off. It's not my dream job, but this job is stable and consistent. I always use my 1 hour lunch to work on my artwork on my tablet.
I believe if your 9-5 is manageable. Keep the job. Use the free time to work on your passion projects, save up, and then leave the 9-5 after you build a safety net to fall on.
Is someone stalking what's going on in my life? Because the timing of YT recommending this video to me is so amazing! I have the exact same thoughts it's crazy! It feels like, finally someone understands what I'm going through. I'm finishing my job turnover in 2 weeks and I can't wait to embrace my freedom! THANK you for this video and definitely will be following your journey. Good luck to us!
I agree, I feel like someone stalking me. I am going through lots of stress thinking about quitting my job. But I have a family to feed and bills to pay. I think it would be easier if I was single. I am in the process of looking into opening a business. This may not happen overnight but maybe in a few months to a year.
@@kingofall9262 Hugs to you! I am single but prior to me quitting I was the breadwinner of the family so even if I wanted to I couldn't but thankfully now I can slowly breathe because I am sharing the responsibilities with my siblings now. Wish you luck 🤞
"Who am I working this hard for? For someone's dream". Woah, this hit me so hard; we really do have to create our own dream. This video is one of the best videos that shows what reality really is, thank you so much. It has pushed me so much to do something I genuinely love, Thank you!
thank you very much, I'm so happy to hear that!
I'm going through similar thoughts, the constant back and forth, worried thoughts of quitting and not having and job. But the loss time, our age, it makes such a big difference. Congrats on taking a big step (even after 7 months) and I'm happy for you and your future growth as a content creator ❤
thank you so much for your kind words ❤ so glad to find someone going through the same thing. I hope this video helped you even if it's a little bit.
"Being stressed is expensive", was really powerful. Thank you for sharing your experience. It helps me decide what to do in my own work dilemma.
The timing of this video!!!! I resigned from my awful retail job at a not-so-luxury luxury store. Before that, it was doing a degree I hated and my skin condition got so bad, but somehow, it healed itself right after I left the stressful environment. I also realised the same as you, time is the most valuable because it's finite. I thought if I'm placed here on the earth to fulfill someone else's vision that I don't align with, then I may as well end it right there and then. I'm in my mid twenties, and have no intention to let my youth go to waste. All the best, thank you for sharing your story.
thank you so much for watching and for your comment! I relate so much, I can't believe how much money I was spending at hospital/clinics back then... bad skin, losing hair, migraine... its crazy what stress can do to you.
and how is your life with no income?
I'm currently working on leaving my 9 to 5, just turned 27 and I am tired of working. Been working since I was 16 but didn't get my first "big girl job until I was 24. I am ready to do what makes me happy and not dread sunday nights worrying about Monday mornings and the weekday like you said.
that's amazing that you're planning your way out. you deserve to do what makes you happy after all the hard work for 10+ years!
I'm happy you had the realization about how precious life and time really is. Escaping the salarywomen route is difficult and a lot of Japanese people never leave to follow their dreams. I'm glad you did. Keep going!
thank you so much :) and yes, it can be difficult for japanese salary women to decide to leave and pursue a dream but I hope that will change with time.
Hearing you talk about this almost made me cry... i'm in the same boat - late 20s, stuck at a 9-5 job, wanting to quit with no backup plan. knowing you're flourishing and happy gave me more strength
thank you so much
Your mental health is more important....happiness will come naturally
Thank you for this video. I am 28, very well-paid job in legal industry, but in the past months I wake up terrified and sick to my stomach imagining a work day in front of me. Also started having mental breakdowns, also started therapy. Feels like the corporate is sucking out your soul and having any kind of emotion is a weakness. Thank you for sharing your journey, as it is very reassuring to know that I am not the only one wanting to leave what from the outside might seem like a nice stable life.
thank you so much for your comment, you are definitely not alone and it's amazing to see so many people in the comment section going through the same thing.
so quit an go work McDonalds, you'll probably be much happier
Hey how about thinking of starting to work free lance? As a lawyer or an assistant- everything is possible!
I love your video, Mako. Your storytelling and videography is also beautiful! I agree with soooo many of the things you said (maybe because I literally did the same thing haha). "If you can spend 8 hours a day building someone else's dream, you can spend at least 4 hours a day building your own." And have faith - it works out in the end :)
thank you so much, I put efforts on storytelling and I'm SO happy to hear that
Exactly what I am going through. I quit my job a few weeks before graduating from college. I was so unhappy being there and I just couldn’t imagine myself having to spend hours at a job I don’t want to be in. Best decision I ever made.
I'm on a similar journey. Quit my corporate job 3 years ago in the middle of the pandemic and moved to a new city. It took me 2 years to heal from burnout, stress, and PTSD. I'm still working to getting back to being healthy but it's so much easier now to tackle problems and get back out there to try to find my new path. I'm creating as well and so excited I found your channel to follow along!
thank you so much & that is amazing that you are working on your creative project! great to find someone going through a similar thing.
corporate ?!! office?..... hah..u havent tried working 13h/Day at restaurants and washing dishes... thats the real hell im 31 yo now and this job is killing my soul and body
@project0332 all jobs are crap until you find one that you love and it will never be like work
Good luck
I get it. I’m 50. Quit my 9-5 job in 2023 because I felt like I was being bullied. I went on stress leave for a few months before giving notice. I didn’t realize how stressed and burnt out I was until I saw a therapist. I spent my days crying, but I know leaving my job was a good decision for my mental & spiritual health. I refuse to go back to corporate life. I want to work on something more creative. I pray for you and hope you find the path that God has for you. God bless!
How did you make money without job I need help
Thank you for sharing your story. The growth that stems from 24 to 29 was condensed into this video really well and I loved hearing how wise it has made you. Looking forwards to more content, all my best.
thank you so much, I'm so glad that you could see my growth from this video! :)
I’m 39 and I decided to quit my job. I totally resonate with you that time is the only important thing in our lives!

I think it's so crazy how at the end of the day we are all humans seeking happiness and fulfillment, no matter how different our culture and location in the world is. I'm Brazilian and I felt the exact same way as you did, I quit last month with no backup plan either, and making that decision was probably the most scary but most freeing feeling that I have ever felt in my life. I don't know yet what I love to do, but I am honestly not worried about it right now because I'm finally free to explore my passions and live a simpler, meaningful life. Thank you so much for this video, it's so heart-warming to know that others feel the exact same way. I wanted to tell you to keep pursuing your passion, you are very talented, and I know for sure that pretty soon you will be making a lot of dollars from it. I'm a Japanese girl as well and you're going ahead of the path I want to go! I can't describe how thrilled and amazed to see this kind of video by Japanese person! your storytelling, little clips inbetween, editing, and sounds are all so cool. I'm so proud of you choosing your life how it matters to you.

so grateful to receive a positive comment from a japanese person! I feel like it can be difficult to find someone who resonates with us in japan... I put lots of work on storytelling and b-rolls, so happy to hear that you liked them ❤ best of luck with your journey :)
You explained everything so accurately in this video. I faced a similar situation and quit my job a few days ago. I kept at it due to social pressure but I started losing myself in the process. I cant wait to see what the future has in store for me. Thank you for this. I hope you are now monetised whilst living out your dream ✌🏻
This video is the embodiment of what I’ve been reflecting on. I’m in my 20s and I know I have time, but still feeling so lost. I love your take on this. Felt like older sisterly advice I needed ❤
"Felt like older sisterly advice I needed" this made me so happy, thank you so much ❤
You made me cry 🥹 you’re right!! We will never get our time back! You are so brave ❤
Thank you so much 🥹
I love this video. This is exactly what I go through and think daily. I’ve been dedicating less passion to my 9-5 that overworked and undervalued me, and now I have been dedicating more time to building my skill set and finding different ways to make money. I know that in order to realize my full potential, I have to quit my job and put in the same work ethic into myself.
i feel you! this was me 3 yrs ago during the pandemic. I felt so lost and empty. it’s so refreshing to know that it’s not an isolated situation, that some people somewhere are also feeling the same thing. I’m grateful to know that we both overcame those worst days and now are still alive and enjoying life the way it should be. I quit my job as well, as I believe that if it doesn’t give me peace of mind then it’s expensive. Btw, you’re awesome for doing this. thanks for this video ❤
"being stressful is expensive"
I love this honesty❤ You help so many people who feel the same about their lives, thank you
thank you so much ❤
I'm happy for you! I cant imagine work life over there - so many hours each day! I just quit my day job after 8 years, deciding I would do what makes me happy - which is to help others find happiness. And most people have actually gratulated me when I told them, which was quite surprising. I take it as a sign that following our inner voice and happiness is something more and more people are waking up to the importance of 🙏❤️
Thank you and congratulations on your new journey!✨ I agree, it’s becoming more common to prioritize your happiness & I think it’s an amazing trend! ❤️
This video is one of the best I've seen in the "why I quit my job/quit my job" type of videos. Thank you for sharing this, I love this :)
thank you so much!
This resonated with me 100%. It feels like I am listening to myself talking about her feelings.
thank you so much 😭
I clicked on your video right after logging off of working a job that brings me stress and frustration every day... it's so nice to see someone take this leap and choose joy! I hope that I can soon do the same :) Thank you for sharing your story!
thank you so much, I hope you will be able to do the same soon :)
This video really spoke to me! I’m 31 and going through the same thing. I’ve began hating myself too and feeling like a failure. So sick of corporate America and being trapped in the typical 9-5, I want to be free to make content and build up my YT channel, work from the comfort of my home (that’s my happy place/sanctuary). I want to build a life I don’t want to escape from. I don’t want to dread Monday mornings. Have to get last bit of debt paid off, catch up
On some bills & get some money saved
So truth corporate life sucks, we are only there for the paychecks, it is good to take a career break once in a while to unwind from the Bullshit in life, don't you agree ?
I literally am in the same position. I have this awful pit in my stomach come Mondays. I have never felt this level of hatred towards my job. I spend moments everyday dreaming of quitting.
@@QuickFactsJibs You should quit if you find that the job is not right for you, doesn't matter what other things as your happiness is your main priority in life.
I’m glad I was able to bump on your video 🤗 honestly everything you said totally made sense and i can totally relate.. 2 months from now i’m turning 30 the immense pressure of an unseen force seem to shaken me but i’m trying my best to keep it together 🙏🏻 hope things will get better and will fall in to right places 🙏🏻

Thank you for sharing this video. I’ve felt the same way just like you after living in Tokyo for 10 years and actually quit my 9-5 job and left Japan!! What you’re talking in the video is really relatable and I’m so happy for you to live “your life” once again! Keep it up :)
Thank you for watching :)
I’m rooting for you girl!! Also ur channel is so underrated, I’m a TH-camr myself too and when watching your video from an editing perspective I think your video deserves so much more recognition. This video is very insightful and well put together❤
thank you so much!! it's great to meet another creator here on youtube
Even with a family of five and doing work I loved, I can relate to this. I left my corporate job last year and it was more sudden, I decided to quit within hours of what sparked the need to change. I cried watching this video because your words and framing of these lessons resonated with me, especially the way you spoke about earning that first dollar. It feels much more significant than any amount of dollars a corporate job could ever pay us.
I just found your channel and I can relate 100%! I also quit my job, and for many years I felt like a failure for not having a corporate job… until I opened my YT channel (after procrastinating for 10 years out of fear) and I love creating content even though I still don’t make a penny! 😅 I’m so happy for you, your content is great! ❤
I appreciate that you speak up about this topic as a Japanese person. Being a German who studied at a Japanese University for a year, I got the impression that I would never be able to connect to people because all too many of them were so deep in this mindset of “grind until you die”. It’s considered so normal there. It was frightening
Thank you for watching! It can be difficult to find someone who understands this type of perspective in Japan...
I can see your channel going from 100,000 -> 500,000 -> 1,000,000+ subscribers. This is such valuable information, bless you!🙏🏾❤
thank you so much ❤✨ makes me so happy :)
Can’t believe other people going through the same thing I went through. I also left my corporate job after 5 years and focused on my self skill studying and picked up on my art again. Thank You for this video, it made things so much more clearer for me.
i have no words, just immensely grateful that I came across your channel. i'm in the same situation too and just submitted my resignation letter last week. thank you for your words of wisdom and for sharing your experience.
This is amazing to watch. I've been having the same thoughts and feelings that you had. I really dislike my job and every time the weekend is over...it's back to the job because it's a responsibly as an adult. I had a serious medical condition that I recovered from and been thinking more about actually living my life versus just going through it. Hats off to you! I am still scared of what might happen but I'm getting closer and closer to leaving to be happy.
thank you & I'm so happy to hear that you are getting closer and closer to choose happiness!
Thank you for sharing.
You are so brave and inspirational!
I relate to you so much. As you were sharing your experience and how you got to the breaking point I started crying because it's exactly what I went through a couple of months ago. Left my 9-5 job as a permanently stressed data scientist at a huge unicorn in Latin America.
No backup plan, no severance, goodbye to my medical insurance and other benefits, no huge $ savings.
It's the best I could have done for my mind and and body. I haven't fully recovered yet but I feel like a plant that needed water desperately and it's finally receiving some rain.
As part of my healing journey I will go on a one month-long trip in your beautiful country next month, which has always been my life-long dream. Afterwards I will figure out what is next for me in life.
I wish you a happy path towards recovery. You've made the right choice. New adventures await for you!
Oshiete kurete arigatou gozaimashita :)
thank you so much. It warms my heart to hear that my story resonated with you. and you're brave as well for making the decision and I'm so excited for you to go on the adventure! arigato gozaimasu!
All the best!!
Thanks for sharing your journey Mako! I just left my past job of 10 years in engineering in the US after a lot of stress and burnout. It was a hard decision to leave, but not having purpose in that career anymore helped me finally let go. I am now visiting Japan and love exploring so far, while trying to reflect and figure out what's next through a lot of walking and reading. It is cool that you found joy and purpose already with content creation, I hope it opens some great doors for you in your life!
thank you so much for watching! I hope you are having a great time in japan :)
I NEEDED THIS THANK YOU 🏹🤍✨💠💎🩵 YOU DESERVE ALL YOUR FLOWERS AND ALL THE BEAUTIFUL THINGS THIS LIFE HAS TO OFFER 👑💐
I love your San Francisco map on your wall, and your small office/ whatever it is that the video is taking place. It feels "homie/ comfy," even watching it through a video.
thank you so much, I'm so happy to hear that :) I used to live in San Francisco, and I needed it to put in on the wall!
the way you embrace your dreams with enthusiasm is truly uplifting.
thank you so much
This video is the best thing I've come across today!! I really love your perspective and how well you've articulated your points. The editing and cuts are also so good and entertaining. Even if some of us may already know we made the right decision, sometimes we second guess ourselves and we need motivation like this.Thank you for sharing and good luck on your journey!!❤
So inspirational! Thank you! 🙏. So many people get stuck and they have the power to make changes. And sometimes the first step is to stop caring as much about your job and still get paid or to decide to reduce your hours and go part time so you can spend the rest of your time doing something you enjoy.
I quit working in the Corporate world 4 months ago with no back up. I couldn’t continue with the stress. I have 3 children, 1 has special needs and I’m in my 40s. I’m trying to build a digital training course to hopefully start an income stream for myself, but it is hard and I’m still stressed, but not nearly as stressed as I was when working. I think you can only do what you can do and we need to be kind to ourselves if we can’t keep up as the demands are impossible. The benefits are not enough to cover the loss of my wage, so I can’t stay here long, just wanted to say well done for following your heart and thank you for sharing your story. It’s helped me. Good luck to you x
Wishing you all the best. You got this, stand in your truth and could you do both?
Don’t give up! I also quit with a baby and 3 months of backup to start a business. I’m never going back to the corporate world. The stress I have now makes me feel alive, the stress at working at a job I hated made me feel dead. Good luck!
Your video is amazing!! I really resonate everything what you said! I also studied in the US and came back to Japan. I started working for 9 to 5 ( but reality, it is more like 8 to 10). In the corporate world, I felt the more you accomplish, the more work you would get as everyone thinks you are capable. With that, you will be the one to be assigned all the tasks or projects. I was good at my job and expected to overachieve and this lead to burnout. So I left my job and it’s been 6 months now. I am much much happier now. I also want to leave Tokyo and move to Fukuoka, hopefully near the beach like you ❤ keep up the great work 応援してます!
Thank you so much, I'm so glad you liked my video✨ Moving to Fukuoka sounds so much fun, how exciting! 素敵なコメント、ありがとうございます!
wow, this is so true and you really put it out there... hats off to you, and all the very best for your amazing new journey....
I support you and that’s how I felt when I was at my corporate job. Many would say I had to be stable and safe because now I have a baby but I was born an entrepreneur and if I want to leave something meaningful to my son is for him to know that there’s always a way to make your dream life come true if you have the guts to take the shot. The stress I have now makes me feel alive, the stress I had working at a job I hated and my life back then made me feel dead.
Anyone feel so stressed or worried at work that it affected their health in some way?
I relate to you, my health was in such a bad condition back then...
Yes....in fact my doctor told me that my job is making me sick. Of course, I am looking for another job, but the processes are soooooooooooooo long.
Yes. My father used to work as a security guard for a local prison. It stressed him out so bad, he ended up getting diabetes. No job is worth putting health at risk 😞
Yes. Even when I'm working almost part-time and the job is fairly easy, the coworkers who practically hate me make it all that much harder, plus, im living with my boomer dad who doesn't believe in freelancing or remote work. If I don't get yelled at by my coworkers, I'm getting lectured by my family. I'm literally surrounded by crabs in a bucket here
Hi Mako, TH-cam recommended this video to me, I have to say this video healed me, because I'm thinking about and actually planning to quit my 9-6 job(used to burned out for it so many times...) without a clear or specific backup plan. I'm also afraid to tell my mother about this, but I will still do it cause I know it's time to move on, to change my life and it's never too late.
Love the video, thanks for sharing your experience.
Thank you so much, If you decide to go for it, I hope you will get to enjoy your new journey :)
Your story resonates so much with me. I’m at that point where I don’t enjoy my job, every weekday feels so heavy on my shoulders and I just want to leave and run. I hope you achieve your goal. Subscribed!
Thanks for sharing your story. It’s made me know that I’m not alone. Let’s work hard towards our dreams. There’s so many things and people in our lives who will find us more worthy than we thought we were! ❤️
thank you for watching ❤️ we got this!
Thanks a lot for sharing your story. I was also experiencing a mental breakdown from the corporate life, and decided to quit early this year.
Still on the soul searching phrase and wish we could both find the meaning of our life soon
thank you so much, wishing you the best with your new journey :)
I left my job 4 months ago without backup plan. Right now I don’t know what to do, everyone asking me “Do you looking for a job? What are you doing?” I have no answer.
Thanks for the video, it helps me get through this setback.
thank you! I relate to you so much, they never asked me "what's next?" when I had a corporate career lol
Asia as English teacher? So in demand there…
Thank u! I needed that video so bad rn!😭💕 I am current in that situation and I see myself in you so much! Thanks for that reminder 🥰
I am so happy and proud of you for taking this leap of faith! You’re glowing with happiness 🥰
Thank you 🥰
So inspirational. I’m preparing to quit my job, and work on creating content as well. I found your video very encouraging! Thank you so much!
Thank you, wishing you the best with your new journey 🫶🏼✨
I needed this, its so relatable. Thank you and I am really happy and admire you and your insight. Hope you much happiness and fulfillment on creator journey!
thank you so much for your kind words! so happy to hear that my story resonates with you :)
Hi Mako. I resonate so much with this video. Thank you for sharing!
very inspiring. thank you for being vulnerable and sharing your experience. keep going.
Thanks for sharing! All your thoughts are so relatable to how I am feeling about my current situation. Been thinking about quitting for months, maybe even over a year now..! Trying to justify and plan out every single detail before I take the leap, but I think that is what is holding me back. I will check out that book - maybe that will give me the extra push. Anyway, great video, editing, and message :)
Thank you so much for your kind words :) I’m glad this resonated with you! I felt like I needed to know everything before quitting so I totally understand how you feel. I hope the book will give you the one last push! :)
Today,i just uploaded my first content on TH-cam. I always wanted to that but now i am happy that i have taken my first step.I am also 30 yr old.
Congrats! 🎉That's amazing, I started about a month ago now on a whim, and it has been a time consuming but interesting process! Keep it up and in a year, you may have a small side income depending on how consistent you are with it.
amazing! it gets easier and easier after the scary first step :)
Thank you so much for sharing your story. I identified with so much of what you said. It’s taken me a year to work up the courage to finally quit but I’m so happy to say TODAY is my last day!!! I wish you so much luck with your content creation, you deserve to be happy and make money doing what you love.
Thank you so much for this amazing video! I relate to it so much, and it made me tear up in the part you were talking about your breakdown from being so overworked. I think it's amazing that you are living life on your terms now. I lost my job this week and am currently feeling lost, but starting to realize that maybe it's okay for me to not have a direction immediately. I have room to explore!
I like to believe that everything happens for a reason. I hope you will enjoy exploring and finding yourself again :) Thank you for watching!
I'll be back here again when you hit 1M 💜
that is so sweet🥺 thank you 💜
you're such a wholesome creator, I love your attitude towards life! Subscribed straight away!
thank you so much! means a lot to me
Thanks for your video. I agree with you 100%. Finding your happiness is the most important in life.
This was a really thoughtful video. I was really impressed with all of the different shots and editing.I also quit about 7 months ago! For me it wasn't immediate relief but I'm slowly getting there after traveling more and embracing the freedom and uncertainty that comes with it. I really related to that feeling of dread on Monday morning and am so glad to not have that anymore. Looking forward to seeing more of your videos!
thank you so much :)
I lost my job few weeks ago, I admire you know what u already know u want to do, I wish I know what I want to do as I'm still figuring out, thanks for sharing ur thoughts & ur journey, wishing u the best in your journey =) 😊
