      Maybe building dreams is the problem. What if it’s better to live in the moment and be satisfied with just enough?

    • @ElitePortraits
      @ElitePortraits 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@helloalanframe It depends, if a person lives better than you thanks to your work, takes the merits and earns more money than you, when you are the one who promoted their dream, and suddenly you go through a difficult stage in your life, that person you helped build their dream will not be affected; It will do well, while you will be left regretting why you didn't invest that energy in yourself, instead of "feeling satisfied" and saying to yourself, "I have enough with this."
      There is also the situation of investing all your effort and energy in the dream of someone else, someone who shares your same vision but has more resources to realize it. However, you are actually working towards THEIR dream, and if this person ultimately doesn't fulfill it, all your work is wasted, thus wasting valuable time from your life.

      @@ElitePortraits this is what I have in my mind these past few weeks, I am unemployed right now and been looking for jobs but this thought keeps entering in my mind. I don't want to work for anybody else, I want to work on my own dream and that is to establish anything that I can call my own because that's what you call an investment in the future.

    This is exactly my situation. I bought a car because I thought it could motivate me to stay in the job I hated. I go out every weekend and be happy for a day until Monday comes again. I always have a mental break down before I start working. My attitude changed so much it affected my relationship with my husband. I always vent and lash out at him. I quit my job this month even if it meant my income would be cut in half and even if I lost a friend because of that decision. I no longer care if I lose the car I just bought. It's just not worth it. I decided to just live simply with a peace of mind.

I dont get the people who complain about working 9-5 then quitting when they have the opportunity to do just that yet have a safety net cushion to fall back on aka here your husband. Hopefully youre treating you husband better now since you can take a break and they cant for the time being and you didnt mention anything about after quitting and improvements in the relationship

    Interesting take with a lot of great points.. I quit my 9-5 about 3 years ago and returned to it this year because I realized that as much as I hated the cons it came with, it still came with a lot of benefits as well.. and I realized having that safety net right now is extremely important, especially when you have people relying on you like a significant other. I learned that we can have a 9-5 and do something creatively, but we just give ourselves excuses to NOT do the thing because we're worn out with our jobs. There's going to be different seasons of your life that demands different things from you and knowing how to deal with them is important. At the end of the day, I don't think there's 1 answer to these complex issues, but I learned to continue and persevere no matter what season I'm in.
    Hope this helps someone!

I am also 29 as well and I thought I would be in such a different place at this point in my life 🥺😞 but my dad's death taught me that I was taking so much for granted and some things are worth your time and energy and some things absolutely are not. I am now in the process of trying to build my portfolio so I can do a tattoo apprenticeship which is something I've wanted to do for such a long time but never persued because it would disappoint so many people but now I want to live for me. The timing of this video!!!! I resigned from my awful retail job at a not-so-luxury luxury store. Before that, it was doing a degree I hated and my skin condition got so bad, but somehow, it healed itself right after I left the stressful environment. I also realised the same as you, time is the most valuable because it's finite. I thought if I'm placed here on the earth to fulfill someone else's vision that I don't align with, then I may as well end it right there and then. I'm in my mid twenties, and have no intention to let my youth go to waste. All the best, thank you for sharing your story.

I'm Brazilian and I felt the exact same way as you did, I quit last month with no backup plan either, and making that decision was probably the most scary but most freeing feeling that I have ever felt in my life. I’m trying to build a digital training course to hopefully start an income stream for myself, but it is hard and I’m still stressed, but not nearly as stressed as I was when working. I think you can only do what you can do and we need to be kind to ourselves if we can’t keep up as the demands are impossible. Don’t give up! I also quit with a baby and 3 months of backup to start a business. I’m never going back to the corporate world. The stress I have now makes me feel alive, the stress at working at a job I hated made me feel dead. Good luck!

    Your video is amazing!! I really resonate everything what you said! I also studied in the US and came back to Japan. I started working for 9 to 5 ( but reality, it is more like 8 to 10). In the corporate world, I felt the more you accomplish, the more work you would get as everyone thinks you are capable. With that, you will be the one to be assigned all the tasks or projects. I was good at my job and expected to overachieve and this lead to burnout. So I left my job and it’s been 6 months now. I am much much happier now. I also want to leave Tokyo and move to Fukuoka, hopefully near the beach like you ❤ keep up the great work 応援してます!

    I support you and that’s how I felt when I was at my corporate job. Many would say I had to be stable and safe because now I have a baby but I was born an entrepreneur and if I want to leave something meaningful to my son is for him to know that there’s always a way to make your dream life come true if you have the guts to take the shot. The stress I have now makes me feel alive, the stress I had working at a job I hated and my life back then made me feel dead.

      Yes. My father used to work as a security guard for a local prison. It stressed him out so bad, he ended up getting diabetes. No job is worth putting health at risk 😞

      Yes. Even when I'm working almost part-time and the job is fairly easy, the coworkers who practically hate me make it all that much harder, plus, im living with my boomer dad who doesn't believe in freelancing or remote work. If I don't get yelled at by my coworkers, I'm getting lectured by my family. I'm literally surrounded by crabs in a bucket here

    Hi Mako, TH-cam recommended this video to me, I have to say this video healed me, because I'm thinking about and actually planning to quit my 9-6 job(used to burned out for it so many times...) without a clear or specific backup plan. I'm also afraid to tell my mother about this, but I will still do it cause I know it's time to move on, to change my life and it's never too late.
    Love the video, thanks for sharing your experience.

    Thanks for sharing! All your thoughts are so relatable to how I am feeling about my current situation. Been thinking about quitting for months, maybe even over a year now..! Trying to justify and plan out every single detail before I take the leap, but I think that is what is holding me back. I will check out that book - maybe that will give me the extra push. Anyway, great video, editing, and message :)

I think it's amazing that you are living life on your terms now. This was a really thoughtful video. I was really impressed with all of the different shots and editing.I also quit about 7 months ago! For me it wasn't immediate relief but I'm slowly getting there after traveling more and embracing the freedom and uncertainty that comes with it. I really related to that feeling of dread on Monday morning and am so glad to not have that anymore. Looking forward to seeing more of your videos!
