@@DIYDanie I got a 100-year-old dry sink that I made over into my vanity. I made sure that it fit because it's a very small room and it did. You can add a curtain rod and curtain across your laundry area so that you can close it off and make it look just like a powder room when guests are over.
Turning the top dresser "drawers" into flip out/tip out ones would be a great place for floss, toothpaste etc and a way to utilize that normally unused space ❤
I live in a 111 year old farmhouse and have always thought using an antique dresser as a sink base in my bathroom would be perfect. Now I’m convinced! Love what you’ve done with this room! You’re so talented and hardworking!
I love everything about this! If this is your bandaid fix, I can’t wait to see the full reno. Your attention to detail in reconfiguring that dresser is super impressive. Well done! 👍🏻
WOW! The reveal was truly stunning. I love seeing quick, bandaid fixes. They are more realistic for those of us who don't have a lot of DIY skills or are too nervous to take on bigger projects. You've inspired me to make bandaid fixes in my rental!
Love the holiday pressured makeover but more so the grandpa memory!❤- Even something small like an army knife. Grandparents truly play a large part in making us who we are. Lucky I had mine for as long as I did!!
Let's just take a moment to appreciate your amazing DIY skills. As someone who has been following your channel for a while now, it's been amazing to see your DIY skills strengthen over time. It's given me, as I'm sure many others, the confidence to tackle a neglected space in my home. Thank you for being such a light and inspiration.
The dresser is perfect as a vanity. Having something vintage and beautiful being reused and loved, is something I appreciate. I also like the choice of the large mirror. It somehow doesn’t overwhelm the vanity. For me, the fluted light fixture is the perfect touch above the vanity. I really like this makeover! You are so talented. I truly don’t know what it would have looked like without the contractor Kenobi, giving his input. I understand he is also the editor in chief of the videos. It must be hard to compete with such a multi-talent, but you pulled it off!
This was wonderful. The only small and useful addition would be either a wooden dowel w/ brackets or brass towel rod mounted to the bottom of the wall cabinets for a place to hang dry laundry.
that is impressive. not only is this bathroom nothing to hide, it's something to be proud of. you can now show off this bathroom rather that ban people from using it.
For anyone who's ever owned an old house your powder/laundry room has a feel of familiarity. It can be pretty overwhelming to try and figure out how to make it look good without a major makeover. You've done a beautiful job. I'm so impressed with your skills on that dresser, you made it look easy. But I know it wasn't.
Howdy Danie - Great Job!!! I have been a florist for 50 years and only use a Swiss knife for flower designing!!! A real florist only uses a knife NOT a pruner for arranging flowers. Pruners are for pruning. Pruners pinch flower stems which does not let water flow to head of flower. My most favorite Swiss knife is pink.
Beautiful! When you can please seal the top of that vanity. The jointery is called pin and cove. It was used between 1871-1900. It’s an old piece and I hope it can be around for a lot longer. ❤
It's absolutely amazing! So beautiful! The dresser makeover created more storage space and you have enough to store everything out of sight! The color on the wall, the new light, the bronze details are gorgeous! But the most genius addition is the second sink you can use for the "dirty" staff. The DIY curtain is AMAZING! I am inspired by your videos and motivated to try new things. Thanks so much for sharing. You will definitely enjoy this elegant new laundry room!
It looks beautiful Danie! I don't know if you can fit it in but you could also install a curtain or nice shower curtain in front of the "laundry" area that hides everything away when guests are over. We did this in our bathroom and it does a great job.
It's got that vintage modern feel and I'm here for it!!!!! The wash basin............I love the vintage feel with the washboard and the curtain. The moment you put that curtain up it reminded me of Grandma's house.
So happy that I have rediscovered the DIY DANIE channel. I first came across this channel 2 years ago with the DIY SHOWER REFRESH video. We had just moved into our new home and I had visions of reno’s and refreshes, until well, life. So now I am here for inspiration and I am so happy I found you again. I have hope again!
I can't believe the "dummy" drawer that you created...You are amazing! This might be my new favorite video. Also the mess sink was such a good FB Marketplace find. Crushed it.
The hand towel curtains are a great idea. I would not be able to resist drying my hands on them but they’re easy to unclip and there is the washer right beside them. Clever you. The laundry vanity looks terrific!
Nothing better than watching DIY Danie 8 min after she drops the vid! So excited to see this revision!! I got my coffee and my green, snuggled in my chair. ❤🎉
Danie first I would like to suggest put a little tray under the soap dispenser because I did the same to stop dropletts going on the wood top (which they did in mine and discoloured my top) and mark the beautiful wood. Any water splash also ruin the wood. Maybe even put extra varnish on the top. Story about the Swiss knife I did gifted my brother in low many many years ago. He use to drive buses for work and one day the knife slipped out of his pocket. He was so upset. He told one of his co workers what has happened so the hunt for the knife began and luck was on they side they found the knife and hand it back to him. He was so happy. After about 20 years he still have it and take it everywhere. 🎉🎉🎉 Now your little makeover must say even if you never do anything else with the place looking fantastic and really don't need anything else. You should be proud of yourself. Wondering about how Jeff feeling to have an incredible handy wife.😊 🎉🎉🎉🎉 Just read your comment👌re poly sealer.😊
Hm, I all of the sudden remembered my dad used to have a Swiss knife. It will be the first holiday season without him. Thank you for the memories Dani.
Dani, you did such an amazing job on this!! That mirror fit perfectly above the vanity, and the mix of vintage with modern was 🤌🏻 chef’s kiss! And the little pops of burgundy were just enough to add color without going overboard. LOVE ❤
25 yrs. ago when our first grandchild was expected we repurposed a dresser and nightstand that was not only oak but they actually matched. but also free....a side of the road find. We already had a rocking chair from our middle son who was soon to be that first time dad. Because the nursery was a little on the small side we decided to not only to re-do the dresser but add a new top that would act as a changing table. Well three months later not only had we sanded, painted and stenciled a border around the room but I found material that was the exact copy of the stencil and made curtains, a crib skirt and chair cushions for that rocker. They and we couldn't be happier with the results. Fast forward 17yrs and a move to another srate , that much loved and used dresser became our new vanity. We later had the joy of 5 more grandbabies and continued the remakes for each of their nurserys. We still search for road side treasures . Love your remake The mirror and light are perfect.

i just wanted to say that i love you. i'm so stressed right now and watching your video just makes me feel so calm and happy. i really appreciate you. ♥️
Love when an eyesore space transforms this much vs. simple re-style. That's a good looking metaphorical "pig" . Sink conversion alone was impressive. Sidenote: credits for the song with female vocalist? I like.
I thought the kit from Home Depot were some modern art for the bathroom. The art looked, well interesting and then I found out what it was.🤣 Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
What a great makeover! Love the new vanity. Such a good find. The little towel curtain to hide the bottom of the wash basin was inspired! Well done, Danie 👏👏👏
I know I’m late to this video but this was great! And that joinery for the drawers is called Cove-and-pin joinery. It was only used between 1871-1900. So that dresser is mighty old!
I own 2 Swiss Army Knives… one has almost every imaginable item on it….the second one is much smaller that I have on my keychain…I basically inherited them when my partner/boyfriend died. I can’t imagine life without them …so useful 🤗
I was going to mention a serious waterproofing, then saw your comment. You really should waterproof/seal the ENTIRE piece. There will be splashes - on the front, and on the toilet side 😳, in particular. The room turned out beautiful! I love it!
Congratulations! We are proud of you, too. Lovely. What I liked the best was how you showed us exactly what you were doing -- by show and not telling with the voice, just typed words and very good camera angles. Thanks for showing how you use your Siss Knife. My grandfather had what he called the Swiss Army Knife. Why? Well, he used it in WW2. Then, he passed it down to a grandson. Hopefully, you will continue to use the knife in all your "back work" with us along to watch and learn how to use ours. Thank you.
I'd recommend a little tray underneath that hand soap dispenser, just to keep the wood top from getting a ring underneath it. Make sure you have a cute little collection of matches to go with the candle within reach of the toilet so it's easy for guests to light.
I have bathroom envy. My bathroom in my old home was so bad and my husband hired a couple of guys to remodel. Oh my...what a catastrophe. So...I had a PRO come in and rip out the whole thing and created a bathroom that I love. I do a lot of diy but that was out of my league. I would have loved to had a vanity dresser such as yours. You should be proud.
I love this bathroom/laundry room makeover! Years ago I had a similar pig that I slapped some lipstick on. I hung a closet rod from wall to wall in front of my washer/dryer and hung two pretty curtains so I could hide the washer/dryer when I wasn’t using them. It looked like there was a shower behind them and it was a great way to hide my appliances. The mirror in your makeover is everything! It is gorgeous!
Such a beautiful dresser! Maybe you should consider sealing the top with a few coats of polyurethane or something so it doesn't get any water damage! Friends of ours did not do that and deeply regretted their decision, because they had to redo the top entirely 😢 Thanks for your inspiration every Saturday!
Dania, my only suggestion is to hang a burgundy velvet curtain on a brass rod hanging from ceiling in front of your washing machine/dryer and sink area. You could close it if you wanted to make it look more chic for company. Then open while you need it for laundry and diy. As always you did a great job. By the way, we ALL have areas of our homes that we don’t show to company!😂
Small makeovers like this just have my heart 🤎 it looks amazing - even just the paint was a game changer. I can’t wait to one day see the full on reno!
Danie!! You are so ingenius! How you come up with/decide what to do with whatever. Making a single drawer into 3 cubbies, the piece on the back of that GORGEOUS vanity. The overhead lightening - VA-VA-VOOM! Wondering how that would look in my one-and-only bathroom. I am scared of working with electricity, esp since I am not sure if mice or squirrels damaged the wiring of my overhead light. May have to figure how not to hard wire and use a remote system instead. Could you and Jeff come to my house to "play"? I promise not to be in the way!!! Enjoy your Saturday and have a fab weekend!!! PS: No one has the right to judge what you do or don't. When they do, they are probably sitting at home doing nothing, but criticizing, never attempting even the slightest bit of renos. You and other influencers, please, do not let these small minded people affect you in any way. You, my dear, are truly amazing!!
The makeover looks wonderful. Here’s my two cents regarding using anantique dresser as a vanity: in my last home, there was an antique vanity in both the master and guest bathrooms. The guest bathroom was not a problem, as it wasn’t used as much as the master bathroom. Here is what I experienced: the drawers were too shallow to efficiently hold any of my beauty products. I had to lay them down, and no matter what I used to keep them from dripping, nothing worked. Also, the prior owner who installed the vanity, put tile and grout on the top and after a while, the tiles came off. In addition, the act of opening and closing the drawers multiple times in a day caused every drawer pull to ultimately break. My conclusion is that I would never use this type of vanity in a master bathroom, it cannot withstand normal wear and tear.
great refresh. It looks beautiful. Since I hate the look of any washer and dryer, I may have put up a curtain to cover the whole washer area. A colorful floral curtain in all the moody, beautiful jewel tones you use. This may require sliding the upper floating cabinet to the left a bit so the rod could run wall to wall. Curtain can be easily slid to the side for laundry access but hidden away when guests come. The space above the laundry sink would be a good place for another rod to be used for hang drying items.
Great flip!!! I was hoping you could use that second drawer for storage as well!! And I love that we were thinking the same thing about the space beside your washer being a utility sink area, and just running water from the washer to the sink!! And that circle joint was the sweetest!! I wonder what the name of it is? I'm definitely looking it up!! Ideas: By the utility sink, you could add a light fixture with a battery-operated light bulb; then you could add a rod to use some curtains to cover the washer and drying area if you would like!
✨UPDATE✨ a poly sealer WAS added to the top after the makeover was complete to ensure no splashy splashy would ruin the wood 🎉♥️

Small makeovers like this just have my heart 🤎 it looks amazing - even just the paint was a game changer. I can’t wait to one day see the full on reno!
No further reno needed...this is perfect!
Absolutely stunning! That vanity turned out amazing, I LOVE it! Fantastic results Danie!!🖤🖤🖤
Beautiful work! I’m always impressed by Dannie’s work and aesthetic ✨
The large mirror combined w the new light and paint realky brightened the room. Wonderful redo!
That’s quite the bandaid fix! Your guests will be awed! 🎄⭐️🇨🇦
I give you credit as I would be totally overwhelmed, with cutting the dresser to fit the sink. Turned out fabulous. Love brass accents. You rock.
Glow up for real!! That's one pretty bandaid!
I love that Danie calls this a “band aid” makeover when it’s more than I could ever wish to accomplish in a room😂
great refresh.
I absolutely love how this lipstick on a pig came out, perfect shade of lipstick, I might add!!! ✌️&❤
I like how the mirror mimics the shape of the sink.
My 2 year old has become a huge fan of yours and gets excited when I put your videos on 😂 win-win for me, I'd say!
wow this was a fantastic transformation- the vanity chest is beautiful- the curtain detail was excellent idea- I loved this video very inspirational
Much better than a bandaid fix I would say; it turned out fantastic👍 big pat on the back!
Beautiful job!!
The best part of make overs like these is they buy you time before you take in a major renovation. And ....so much of it can be reused
That was such an awesome transformation! Beautiful, stylish, yet functional. And I Love the extra drawers!
Amazing transformation, Danie! You did an excellent job creating that beautiful dresser into a vanity; I love it!
The vanity turned out beautifully. Definitely transformed that bath/ laundry room. Good job!!
