  • The CX-5 receives a special treatment with the addition of the Carbon Edition. On the outside Mazda uses their Polymetal Grey to cover the sheetmetal along with black touches including wheels, and dark chrome. On the inside you will find a dark read interior along with an updated infotainment system. Under the hood you will find the 2.5L inline-4 that produces 187HP & is mated to a traditional 6-speed automatic. Why is the NEW 2021 Mazda CX-5 Carbon Edition a MUST have compact SUV?

I've got the CX-5 2019 edition and the driving experience is superb. It handles corners very well without pushing your body towards the side as the car calibrates the balance automatically with the centrifugal force.
Interior finishing is probably the best for the price point that you have to pay for a similar category of the competition.
And what's more, the quietness of the car when it's travelling at high speed on a relatively flat highway.
The safety features are also numero uno as the car automatically did a slight brake for me on time when it sense that I was in danger of a near collision in front of a irresponsible rider.
Moving from a Mazda 3 to a CX-5 driving experience brings me to an excitement level that makes me feel safe and comfortable for both me and my passengers.
    Great job Mazda team!

Totally agree! Their autos are great! Over 10ish mph they completely lock and are almost like a DCT or stick with direct drive, then below 10 mph the converter unlocks for better slow speed on/off transitions. Better driveability down low, better performance, mpgs and feel above that; Mazda is a cool company!

What's really compelling about Mazda designs, especially the CX-5, is the timelessness. These designs look great today, and they will still look great 20 years from now. Most of the other manufacturers' designs will look cheesy a few years from now. They add too many lines and too much "eye junk" that really serves no design purpose except to look "new". The problem is all that "eye junk" gets old quick.

I’m a brand new owner of a Mazda vehicle, a low mileage 2021 Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring. It’s not the awd and turbo version but it is pretty loaded. I’m very happy with my purchase. It’s not as fast as my current car but it is a damn smooth drive. I can’t believe it has heated front and rear seats, ventilated front seats, heated steering wheel, Bose sound system, HUD, rear ac vents / usb connectivity, standard sunroof and adaptive headlights. I’m just not a fan of how close the cup holders are to the rotary dial for the infotainment but it’s a petty thing. 100/10.

I currently own a 2019 Mazda CX-5 Signature. Like all Mazdas, it is a great car. However, while the new "Carbon Edition" CX-5 looks great, nothing beats the Soul Red Crystal Metallic paint for overall looks. That paint color is just amazing, and I am glad I got it on my CX-5. Also, when comparing the normally aspirated 2.5 liter engine to the turbocharged engine, there is no comparison. The turbocharged engine is night and day better. Drive them both, and compare for yourself, you will experience exactly what I am talking about. The 6 speed transmission also works perfectly when mated to the 2.5 liter engine, and not using a CVT is a great choice on Mazda's part. There is also no need for a 10 speed transmission that is constantly hunting for the right gear. I do like the sound of the Bose stereo, but it is nothing amazing when compared to good aftermarket stereo equipment. I also don't care about the size of the infotainment system screen. I guess that is something popular with younger car buyers. I buy a car to drive, not stare at a screen all day. As long as Android Auto (Google Maps) works, and I can get Sirius XM Radio, I am good to go. The interior of the Mazda CX-5 Signature looks and feels like you are in a much higher class of vehicle. Think BMW, Mercedes or Acura. I would buy another CX-5 again in a heartbeat. Being a long-time Mazda fan, I am a bit biased here, but I also call things as I see them. I have previously owned a 2005 Mazda 3, and a 2014 Mazda 6, which were both great cars. My younger brother also owned an RX-7 back in the day. He drove the wheels off that thing, and it just kept on running. I will give Props to Mazda, and their great cars, any day of the week. Note that this is coming from someone that is also a long-time Chevy (Camaro) fan. I have owned plenty of both vehicle brands and models over the years. Gotta love both car types, but for different reasons. However, they are both really fun to drive.

Oooh my favorite daily commuter just got better.
I picked up two 2019's after using one for a quick road trip to deliver junk to my sister from Texas to Virgina.
I found this car to handle more than great. It has such small headlight housings but they work so well! The shape of the vehicle is so great that even maintaining 90mph for an extended amount of time, didn't leave me with much interior road or wind noise... Best part I managed 31.5mpg at that speed.
Space wise...I took my poodle and his cage with me along with all much junk, very spacious.
Thanks Joe didn't know this was coming out now I'm probably returning the two that my wife and I have and leaving the lot with a pair of those. Inexpensive and can't be beat. Also keeps me out of trouble when compared to all of our other high horsepower vehicles...Yeah I've got a stack of warnings for speed. Lol

All I do is drive the Highways all over America and help motorist whose cars are broke down on the side of the Interstate, or flat tires, etc. I give some of them who need it a ride into the closest town. I never ask for anything from them. Been doing this for 3 yrs. I can't sit still! I can't stay put anywhere. I am a Veteran, who admittedly has some issues. If you are rich and want to supply me one of these Mazda Cx5 SUV. I could really use it. My Lexus is getting tired. And I could put more tools in it also. Anyway, I will continue to help stranded and broke down motorists, until my 23 year old Lexus finally dies. It makes me feel better about myself helping other people. I drove both the CX 5 non turbo and turbo (not Carbon). The turbo interior was quieter. Alas, my pet peeve is that all these competitor SUV/CUV designers seem to not consider visibility below the hood line, even when I raised the seat to the max, there was a disconcerting blind spot. I sat in both an Acura RDX and Volvo XC 40, which were worse: if you draw a straight line from your eyes over the hood to the ground, there's ~ a 6ft+ blind spot, which means you could run over road debris (most notable on highways at speed) that could damage the undercarriage. I also drove the Mazda 6 Carbon. I was concerned that the 'red' interior was bright red, when it's really more, as you said "Dark Cherry Red", which looks great, and I appreciate the clean/uncluttered dash and old school analog gauges. I loved the 6s better handling, but the mouth of the trunk is small. That said, I can drop the rear seat and put my laundry basket in the from the side. The Carbon interior and dash looks much richer than the non Carbon. Im torn between the CX 5 turbo Carbon or 6 Carbon turbo

I just bought a 2021 Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring. After watching this video, I just KNEW I wanted the Carbon Edition but when I saw it in person, I felt the exterior color looked a little weird (not what I expected). In my opinion, the color looks best with an overcast but in the sun it looks weird. Overall, I’m in love with my car. I like that it’s not touchscreen because it keeps things nice and clean without ugly fingerprints. One thing I don’t like is the inside door panels get weird white smudges when you touch it. Very odd.

Great review! That shade of red is amazing. I see mazda is taking their 'no touch screen' tought to the max. Which is good to see a brand living up to their words. My second Mazda, Mazda 3, had about 260,000 miles before I traded it in for my Mazda 6. Now I’m thinking of trading that in for the cx5 just so I have more room. I will forever buy Mazda’s. Girlfriend needed a brand new car. We were set on a compact SUV. Dollar for dollar the Mazda felt way more high end and tightly put together. The lane assist and automatic cruise control is very very impressive, quiet cabin with great sound isolation, 31-33mpg highway, and winter ready with AWD. $30k you can’t beat this car. Cross shopped the compass, Rav 4, Rogue and escape. Mazda felt like the Bmw of the litter.
