I ended up getting one last month and I am loving it. The biggest factor for me was the power 250 HP/320 lb tq. These numbers blow away it's competition. Granted it doesn't have the space as Rav4, Rogue, Forester, CR-V, I bought the cx-5 carbon turbo AWD cause of the drivability. It so much fun to drive.
The CX-5 space is fine for me, also. I used my new CX-5 to haul (2) 4"x4"x8' posts and 12 bags (40 lb bags) of black dirt to make a raised garden bed for 2 grapevines. On several more trips, I proceeded to haul 50 more bags of dirt (40 lb bags). I also used my CX-5 to haul (28) 8"x8"x16" cement cinder blocks and (10) 2"x8"x16" pavers for the raised bed. It still gets the job done, and gives me a fun drive while doing it.

I bought this EXACT CX-5 (Carbon Edition, Turbo, AWD, black leather) on Tuesday. Only difference is mine came with the roof rails, and I installed the Mazda all-weather mats and cargo tray. Thanks so much for the great review, guys! Definitely helped me with my decision.

This is the one I'm dreaming to own. I love every angle of the the CX-5 exterior and interior. The soul red crystal is my favorite color but the polymetal Grey has a strong presence with the carbon edition it's even gorgeous looking.👍👍👍
I love mine I got the turbo carbon with red seats in December I spent months looking at reviews before buying it I’m 6’5 and was worried about fitting comfortable but I got to say I fit just fine this ride has insane headroom so if you’ve a big guy like me you will be fine
I just bought mine on Tuesday! I love the grill, the black rims and the red leather and stitching interior is beautiful. Drives like a dream and love the Android Auto! Also I find the exterior gun metal color very relaxing.
I didn't hear you mention the Sport Mode. It really launches you and uses the engine to help slow you down. The switch is located to the left of the shifter. Vroom Vroom! I own a Carbon Edition with the red seats. Love it!

My wife just had hers delivered on Tuesday, we haven't driven it yet. But we test drove the Grand Touring and touring. I would advise getting the turbo.
I got mine in December and while I like the look it is missing some simple features that I think should be standard. It doesn't have heated mirrors, backup sensors and remote starter only works with the my mazda app and the car cuts off when you open any door. Looks good and good ride.
they r saving the back up sensors for the signature trim. the sedan version mazda 6 with CE comes with heated mirror even ventilated seats so i chose that.
** IF ** you are looking for a 2021 CX-5 with a Turbo 2.5L PLEASE have it looked at by a mechanic. ALL Turbo '21 2.5L Mazda Models have been suffering from oil consumption issues due to the valve guides/seals leaking. There is a Mazda TSB as well as a CA lawsuit that has been filed. Not sure if this was caused by supply chain issues back then? It was during the height of the pandemic. -Note: Some '21 2.5L Turbo models are unaffected at this time, and the normally aspirated ones so far are fine as well.
carbon with GT package would be nice. you are right about the fuel economy. hoping for CX-50 AWD hybrid. CX-5 needs the CX-30/Mazda 3 upgrade. (door sensor, steering wheel, circular knob.)

did you find the overall ride to be a bit 'jerky'? I have a 2018 cx-5 (non turbo)....and the 1-3 gear shifting isn't all that smooth. Plus, I can feel (and there are forums) referencing the cylinder deactivation feature (which I believe was discontinued in 2021....probably for good reason) that creates this sort of shaking/jerky feel during coasting. hoping the twin turbo and removal of the cylinder deactivation make your ride smoother...
I recently bought the CX 9 Signature and wish I could have gotten the Carbon edition with all the extra features of the Signature. Love the look of these Carbon Editions, just missing a couple extra features.

This vehicle is now back in the hands of Japan and has been proving to be trouble free and I suspect it's because they keep it simple and worry free. Not having the MPH and lane lines on the windshield was a huge letdown for this trim. All I wanted was the red seats in the GTR, but apparently that's also impossible.

Just bought a CX-30 Premium Plus Turbo and for some reason it was on the hyundais side of the lot at Hyundai/mazda dealer and they gave me the 10 year 100k warranty on the CX-30.I also did research and this engine/tranny combo is very reliable.I sold a KIA Stinger and made thousands and decided to get this because the performance for money is outstanding and Mazdas new AWD system is very good--it is on par with my Stinger and udis i rent.NTW the Audi dealer was also in this group of dealers and the Audis were not offered with the 10 year 100k warranty--so that says something about the reliability across brands.This tranny and engine in the CX9 can tow 2000 lbs--so in a cx-5 or Cx-30 it is nowhere near any stress points.I was also wary of reliability but these vehicles are very reliable--many cx-9s are passing 100k with no major problems.

I agree. That’s why I went with the GT model. That turbo and AWD are a must for me. I’m also disappointed with the infotainment we get in Canada but for the price, Turbo and 250hp is still worth it. At least it’s still a touch screen and wireless Apple Car play is available

Does have heated mirrors. When you press the rear defroster button it also heats the mirrors and front windshield wiper defrosters.

I've been having to top up at Abt 3,000 miles after an oil change. Is that what youre referring too or just an Oil leak?

Good choice. The VW handles well but engine not good enough. I rented the VW for a week. Extremely, lacking power.

The signature is soo nice. All u have to do is paint.your rims black and get an aftermarket red interior..thats the only changes!

I agree. That’s why I went with the GT model. That turbo and AWD are a must for me. I’m also disappointed with the infotainment we get in Canada but for the price, Turbo and 250hp is still worth it. At least it’s still a touch screen and wireless Apple Car play is available
