12:31 if you go to settings, can activate the touchscreen when it is moving, I just got 2 weeks ago the carbon edition 2024 and I saw that on other TH-cam video and did it, it works now.
22 cx5 signature here. You are going to love it.! it doesn’t compare with the competition when it comes to sport, the quietness of the interior of the cabin and touch everywhere
They’re both not bad at all. From test driving a CX5 and now owning a CX50. I’d say the 5 is like little smoother driving quality but not by significantly much tbh. Both feel really great on the road overall.
1 tried the cx 50. If you 6" 2 and over, you cannot see out as well. The build quality and interior is much better in the cx 5. The steering is sharper in the cx 50. Hower, the cx 5 is faster and the ride is better.. depends on what is important to you😊
It was a hard choice but I took the RDX A-Spec over this exact color and trim , but the fact that even with the big price difference it was close, says a lot about this car.
I regret you doing that only because your missing heated rear seats… That’s a 50k in the trim level you got in your car. I get you got the RDX. I just miss heated rear seats on the A-SPEC especially for 50k. Happy purchase on RDX! ❤
I wanted the rdx too but even a slightly used rdx with around 10k miles was still 10 grand more than the cx5 brand new. The mazda wins for value alone.
Surprised to see there’s no exterior sensors on this. I think in my country it’s only the very basic entry level that lacks them yet can be optioned in. In my opinion the steering is not at all heavy, it feels perfect. Suspension is great just be sure the tyre pressure is no higher than the specification. I found using high octane is best to avoid a very brief acceleration lag I was getting on standard. I’ve also found lack of touchscreen to be no issue at all. The command dial works great and voice commands for Apple Music and maps works well. Yes seats are a bit hard so you might need a seat cushion to keep your butt happy.
Who those who care, the difference in 0-60 between a turbo and non turbo is about 2 seconds. The difference between a CX-Turbo and a Rav4 Hybrid is about 1 second, and a RAV 4 Prime is about a second towards the Prime. MPG differences would likely matter more than 0-60 TBH Unless you do alot of highway passing the NA CX5 Grand Touring would check most boxes.
Love the CX-5 in general, but a pure GDI turbo engine driven with a lot of stop/go city miles and/or short trips is a recipe for carbon sludge buildup. Also, if you aren't changing the oil in a turbo engine every 3K miles & plan to keep it long-term, then good luck.
I recently was Mazda shopping. I was drawn to the CX-50 because I do love the coke bottle body shape. I decided to test drive both the CX-50 and the CX-5 though… and found the interior of the CX-5 much, much nicer in terms of design, premium feel, and seating position (and comfort). I really wanted the CX-50 exterior with the CX-5 interior. That would have been perfect. I really stewed over which to get (liked them both a lot), but since you spend way more time inside a car driving it than standing outside looking at it… I went with the CX-5 (being built in Japan didn’t hurt either). I ended up going with the Carbon Edition (Polymetal Gray w/ red leather interior) to step things up even more inside (for hardly any more money). Right choice for me… can’t blame anyone for digging the CX-50 though… it’s great as well… but the CX-5 just sooo brought the goods on the interior that it swayed me to the CX-5.
You did not mention kr use the different sport off road . . modes. My 2016 when turbo was not available yet and no paddles. I like the easy sport mode for short Zoom Zoom acceleration. Get up to 32 mpg higbway and 28 everyday. The 20 split rear allows long items like tools and still carry 4 people. As you mentioned this is not a 5 seats like a Rav 4 - they should be in different size categories.
I'm trying to decide between THIS and the CX-50 and I LOVE the LOOK of the CX-50!!! I"m coming around to the Turbo-- and although I knOW they wear an engine out sooner-- whatever I buy this time will most likely be My LAST vehicle ever... as to my driving (due to health reasons).. so not so worried about it going out. I might get the CX-50 naturally aspirated and install a SUPER CHARGER (much better than Turbo--- cooler- no engine wear- and power is gental across the full pedal range- and simpler- much easier to repair and WON"T wear it out sooner!!
Good idea, how much would something like that cost? And what would be the improvement to HP? May you be blessed with good health for many years to come :)
Great video on the mazda cx5 turbo carbon edition between the mazda CX5 turbo or cx50 turbo which one would you choose personally your respond looking forward stay safe.
9:50 For 2025, the non-turbo Premium Plus & all of the turbo trims starting with the Carbon Turbo FINALLY now have a 360° camera & front & rear parking sensors 🙌🏽!
Better to get the STANDARD and ADD A SUPERCHARGER-- MUCH better for the car- MORE power- almost exactly the same mpg 0r LESS due to not having to push the pedal so hard to get the boost as with a dumb turbo.. Cost about the same to get installed- but to repair if needed-- simpler and MUCH cheaper.. and won't harm the engine like a turbo will.
Touchscreen is atrocious and not safe nor practical. Do you use touchscreens on your home pc? Do you like gunk on the screen? Do you like damaging your screen? Do you like replacing your screen due to wear? Do you like stretching our your arm and keeping it steady and missing buttons while driving? The wheel that Mazda uses is without a doubt, the absolute best way to navigate the screen. I don't even own a Mazda, but had a previous vehicle that had the wheel. It was so intuitive and easy, I miss not having it on my other vehicles. Sorry but I always see these comments on touch screens, they suck and should be a secondary option at best.

Because Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are designed for touch. Apple and Google understand user interface better than Mazda, sorry.

We tested a CX-5 (though not a Carbon Turbo) a couple of weeks ago. We were unimpressed. There was nothing exceptional about it; it was too small inside the cabin & trunk given the price of the car. And although you and everyone continue to tout Mazda interiors as being "premium," we did not get that impression at all. In fact, it seemed very dated, especially with that tiny stuck-on screen with its push-button rotary knob control on the floor console. We bought something else. Mazda seriously needs to update this car. We also tried the CX-50, but after sitting in it in the showroom, we didn't even bother with a test drive as it was too uncomfortable for us.
It's tech and layout is dated... Or some may say simple. What feels premium is the materials of the interior : It is mostly leather and soft touch, which is better than most cars of its class.
Not very confidence inspiring hearing something named “carbon turbo” when politicians are trying to showcase net 0 by 2050 and 100% carbon free passenger vehicles by 2035. 😂
Dude, Stanley Thermos, really? That's real bullshit. Also, Mazda knows touchscreens are dangeroug while driving, so theyve provided a smart and functional option to keep your eyes on the road. Duh.
I just can't fathom spending almost $40,000 anymore for a vehicle that would get anything less than 33 or 35 miles a gallon. These days, just plain naturally aspirated or turbo engines just don't have a place anymore in my mind, unless performance was pretty much the only important thing to me
For low mileage drivers like myself, the turbo 4 makes a lot more sense. I just traded my low mileage 2021 Venza Limited Hybrid on a Turbo 4 Highlander. Like the turbo much better. The 10 year warranty on the hybrid would expire with 45,000 miles on the car. If you had a choice between buying a 10 year old hybrid with no warranty on the battery, or a 10 year old ga# turbo, which would you buy?
