How much does a Goldendoodle Cost? 💰🐶🔴 2022 Guide 🔴

  • 📢 For the last two decades, Goldendoodles have been a huge hit in the dog community, due to their teddy bear appearance and gentle disposition. On top of it all, the doodle boasts some tremendous health benefits for owners, such as being hypo-allergenic and non-shedding. As a result, the breed has quickly become a family favorite and an ideal choice for new and experienced dog owners.
    👉 A Quick Overview
    Goldendoodles can go for anything between $500 and over $4,000! The average cost from a respected, GANA breeder is going to be around $2,100, and that price only goes up if you want a rare multi-colored doodle or toy-sized one, which usually goes for around $3,000. In general, the smaller tea-cup doodles are the most expensive of the breed but be warned that these dogs have a history of health issues that are not only costly but also affect their day-to-day lives.
    Typically, adoption fees are about $300 to $500, but that isn’t considering potential shots, neutering, and more costs that could arise. Still, it is unlikely these costs even come close to the $1,700 to $2,500 for a doodle pup from a GANA breeder.
    💰 So what really determines the price of a Goldendoodle? 💰
    🔺 There are several factors, such as supply and demand which we talked about early and are probably the most obvious and out of your control, but others that you control can also sway the cost in either direction.
    🔺 Breeder reputation is a huge one, and also one that is almost always worth the cost. You want to make sure that you pick a breeder who truly cares about their dogs, especially if you are going to invest in your doodle for the next 10 to 15 years. Health issues such as hip dysplasia, eye, and vision issues, and unfortunately more are common among breeders who are using bad techniques and creating “puppy mills” as they have been dubbed.
    🔺 Location is also important, as a doodle in California is going to inevitably be cheaper than one in the midwest, due to cost of living adjustments. Paying for a dog in a cheaper location will be beneficial in some ways, but be aware you are going to have to pay for transportation fees, and unless you plan to fly there, will also be going in blind on what the breeder’s facility conditions may be.
    🔺 Goldendoodle coat and the color are also something that will drastically affect the price, as things like wavy or curly coats will be more expensive than straight coats. Doodles are also not always hypoallergenic, and so ones that are will be more expensive than those who are not. This decision is because the crossing of golden retriever and poodle can result in some variation. Finally, coat color can drive up the cost significantly, with multi-colored coats or the tuxedo coat pinning an additional $1,000 at times for the uniqueness factor.
    🔺 Finally, size is a huge factor in dictating price, as there are three main sizes, mini, medium, and standard. The smaller doodles can go for an extra $1,500 on top of the average cost, and it isn’t that surprising to see them go for more than $5,000. This on top of the history of health issues almost guarantees you are going to invest thousands into a smaller Goldendoodle.

    My son just got his black miniature goldendoodle from hr breeder in Pensylvania for $575. My son got to meet the siblings and the parents. The mother is a black mini poodle and the father is a mini black goldendoodle. After trying to adopt for a year to meet the size requirements for the landlord and the need for hair and not fur due to allergies, they bought from a breeder that specializes in goldendoodles, bernadoodles and sheepadoodles. The puppy came with paperwork and a 90 day health guarantee. The puppy got all his shots and is very healthy. The only downside is that at night he blends in with his black sleeping mat and you do not even notice he is there. All and all, he is extremely bright and friendly.

    I just adopted a 7 month o!d male Goldendoodle, red, curly hair, I'm guessing he will be a mid size doodle, but I managed to get him for $100,. He is a good looking doodle, seems to be healthy, and playful, going to see the Vet next Monday for a checkup. He is definitely a cuddly type!

    I adopted my standard golden doodle from a small city’s shelter.. I got him by calling in on the day after Christmas. I believe the young, red Christmas gift tore up the first owner’s home on Christmas Eve and by December 25th the frazzled, in shock owner threw in the towel and dumped Watson. He’s now Loki and is still a wild one, but a much-loved rebel.

    Training & boarding is much more expensive (puppy preschool is $600, kindergarten will be $725… i haven’t boarded him, but just daycare alone is $34 for 8 hours). Plus, in the 2 months I’ve had my doodle…several thousands in property damage (my fault)- sunglasses, rugs, couch 😢

    Well now. I've read all the comments here (39 at this point) and I must say I can envision each circumstance! Given all of that, my better half and I were EXTREMELY fortunate with our pup (now 13 months, ninety pounds and FULL of energy). I worked with a lady for almost 14 years. When I retired, she discovered I wanted another dog (almost always had two or three dogs) - all of ours had aged out. We were taking a bit of a break deciding our next move. All four kids were responsible adults so we some disposable income and a 2400 sf home that we rattled around in. Bottom line, my friend's daughter was a breeder and had a fresh litter of SGDs waiting to be sold (out of seven, four males were unspoken for). We went to her daughter's home (which turned out to be quite the nice breeding area). I trusted my former co-worker completely and after a short visit with her daughter, it was clear to us she (the daughter) was a responsible breeder. At five weeks old, we fell in love with the sole female left and put a deposit down on her on the spot. At $900 (total), we paid less than half what the other pups were going for. Vet certification, papers, shots, etc., the whole enchilada.
    After 13 months, I can safely say I've never had a more loveable, smart, energetic dog than 'Lexi.' I'm 76 and am looking forward to many years with this affectionate dog. Since my wife has chosen to maintain her business a bit longer, I'm with Lexi most of the time. She is truly, my 'velcro' dog. I hope I go before she does - I cannot imagine trying to navigate without my shadow...

    I have owned 6 German shepherds. I love the breed but want a smaller dog next. I don’t understand why I would choose a doodle mix over a Poodle. I had one, he was very smart, easy to train, loved me and was friendly with cats and humans. I kept him in a puppy cut. Any comments? GSDs are also smart, easy to train, and keep away burglars. But my boy is 100 lbs and I can’t lift him anymore.

    • @WeLoveDoodles
      @WeLoveDoodles  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. Poodles are oftentimes more stubborn and don’t have the best temperament. There’s definitely a difference between Goldendoodles and full Poodles (even if it is minor). You can’t really go wrong with either though. It’ll be a big change from a GSD though! Mostly no shedding and hypoallergenic is a big plus.

    Totally worth it though. I plan to get a golden doodle soon, but I have ptsd from when I adopted a dog before and it attacked and injured my smaller, now blind, 10 year old chihuahua mix. The things that trigger my ptsd is a larger dog playing with him, or even sometimes if the dog is just standing there sniffing but seems energetic. I get super nervous when a large dog is around Harvey unless the dog is completely calm. And on top of that Harvey is grumpy In his old age and he doesn’t like playing with other dogs as much he just growls at them. Any tips? Lol?

    • @WeLoveDoodles
      @WeLoveDoodles  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey! This is a tough situation. Any dog that gets attacked will be like this. I’d recommend trying to resocialize your dog with other known dogs that are known to be calm. Gradually introduce known calm dogs 1:1 with your dog. It’s going to take a lot of time, but your dog has a lot of trauma he needs to overcome. Best of luck.
