I never had an issue with Vista. I like all the little flourishes tbh

It was, it is, a very beautiful os❤

installed it on my hp Compaq 8300. With sp2 runs really well. It's so beautiful. Pretty. I got Vista Ultimate back in 2007 so i have the ultimate extras. With dreamscene, i chose the waterfall one, and i run that with a program that has nature sounds.

It ran quite nicely on a half-way decent core 2 cpu provided you had enough ram and a current GPU. Never really had a problem with it but never tried using a low spec pc to run it. So much easier on the eyes than XP and worked so much better too. Windows 7 worked even better but was a bit sterile by comparison

you really needed a good duel core system for vista to run smooth and also a mid GPU.
at the start of the year the Core 2 Quad Q6600 was out and later in the year if you waited till November/december to get a computer in 2007 you could of gotten a Phenom X4 9500/9600.
it's interesting when vista came out they stared to push for quad cores and next year in 2008 came all of AMD Phenom X4/X3 cpu's
tbh if VISTA never came along, i think Quad Cores would came a bit later.

Very few people ever even saw windows vista, so it didn't really factor much with the quadcores becoming common. AMD sold so little that it didn't really affect anything, you should keep in mind that business customers are 70%+ of the market, and AMD sold almost zero there.
The mistake microsoft did is to aim Vista just for home users, which is less than 30% of the PC market. Zero business users ran Vista, because the initial release was full of mediacenter garbage and it assumed that you had 3D accelerator hardware, and MPEG decode hardware, which no business PC's have. It was simply a stupid release by microsoft, predicated on home users having some influence on business which they of course did not.
Just FYI I own 2 licenses of Vista Ultimate, I have the retail DVD versions of it, and have it installed on one of my PC's. I also worked in IT for 10+ years as a software developer.
Software development had a degree of influence on Vista not doing so well, because it has features that "break" software functionality easily in a way that requires a bunch of work to fix. Primarily UAC was borked in Vista.

@@noth606 Very few people ever even saw windows vista?
then why is there so many videos of people talking about using it when it came out? why is it that i remember buying windows vista home premium 32bit upgrade for my old dell dimension 8300 along with meany other people who tried the upgrade path on there system?
on top of that i didn't get a duel core system till i got one for free in 2009 from my best friend when he gave me his DELL E521 as he upgraded to a dell studio xps 435t/9000
The problem was that Microsoft and the OEM's were not communicating with each other and put out under powered systems and pushed out an OS that should have been delayed to give the industry time, on top that, the system requirements for the Minimum Supported are as followed
800Mhz CPU 32-bit/64bit, 512MB of ram, 20GB HDD with at lest 15GB free.
if anything the Minimum requirements were too low even the recommended requirements
      1GHz CPU 32-bit/64bit, 1GB of RAM
      like why 1GB?
i had 2GB in my old dimension 8300 in 2007 and fast IDE drive at 7200RPM.
if anything the whole computer industry (home or business) at the time was stagnated, it took till windows 10 to drop 32bit that should be saying something right there.
32-bit should have been done when windows 8 came out not lasted till windows 10.
as for talking about UAC where did that come from i wasn't talking about it, a lot of people knew that it was broken even me, why do you think people remember windows vista?
all i ever herd about in chats and forums was vista's UAC problems this and that an how slow it was, vista was ahead of time and at the wrong time at the same time.
but today's hardware is still moving forward at a good pace but software? they haven't learned a thing since then.
windows 11 is so unoptimised and the WEB too and GAMES it just bad.

I've used every Windows version except 3.0 and ME and the only one that was noticeably unstable was 98. I used Vista on a dual Xeon ASUS board and didn't have any problems with it at all.
I've never seen any of the videos included with Vista 😀
Only one of my six machines is supported by Windows 11 but they have all ran it. One was converted to XP Pro x64.

@@joshwa1234 nothing lol! oops. i guess i kind of forgot about that. but i know where and where not to go on today's internet. if you find one, that keeps up to date let me know! :) I've been running like this for couple years now. I know with Xp the minute u connect to net, there are several naughty things that run in background; i think they start with the letter s. can't remember. even when i have xp on i'm okay. But yeah let me know if you find one. I have all the updates install, whatever there was available, using Legacy Update. Today's systems are boring; back then you can have desktop themes with sounds, screen savers, different colors. I loved using Microsoft Plus! for windows. I have Plus! for Xp that has the Aquarium theme, with the relaxing screensaver with sounds. People would probably say that these themes bog down system resources; i don't have issue, and it helps me relax. :)

I bought a new core2 duo dell tower, that was preinstalled with Vista. It was unequivocally shite. Eventually I put windows 7 on it, and it ran so much better on the exact same hardware. Vista was crap.

Vista didn't really offer that much more besides the visuals compared to xp. A better version of vista was win 7. It asked for a stronger pc. Was it that bad? Well did you like win 8 or 11? Some do. For every good os Microsoft made, we always got 1 "bad" one after it before releasing a good one again as the bad ones are visuals 1st. Microsoft never learned to listen to users feedback. Win 98 (se) was great so we got millennium after it which was a horror, to get xp after that, but then we got vista, to get the lovely win 7. Well win 8 was horrible, while 8.1 was half decent. But win 10 was great to get win 11 after it. Is vista that bad? Probably not with all the updates and fixes, but that does not make it a great os. It still didn't really offer much extra compared to xp, like i don't feel the need to go from win 10 to win 11 on my main pc.

Vista, ME and 8 all get a lot of unnecessary hate, they were all pretty good once the issues were worked out.

Vista was mostly out of ignorance in most cases

    • @noth606
      @noth606 3 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

Well, the criticisms they got were not for issues that didn't exist. The criticisms were not due to bugs, they were due to people hating what those OS'es changed versus what was there before - so it's not "unnecessary" any more or less than any other "hate" is. People thought the things Vista brought were crap, for many people the criticism was VERY understandable and warranted since Vista broke a lot of software functionality and worked in a counter intuitive way with a lot of things. You do understand that for a lot of people Vista kept getting in their way and blocking them from doing what they wanted to on their computer, right?
Could it be made to behave? Yes, but it took hours of work to get Vista to get the fugg out of the way and just do it's job, and most people had no patience for it. And Windows 7 coming out without all that irritating crap is proof that Vista was stupid. Vista was/is an attention whore, which no one in their right mind likes once the newness of the thing wears off.
