Example, Jurassic Park on the big screen was genuinely frightening in parts and made me cry out at one point; and the part with the frill lizard made most of the cinema leap out of their skin. When we watched it again on the small screen, it felt like a big disappointment, an entirely weaker experience. In light of your words, considering that when I watched Maverick on the small screen and found it sensational, practically leaning left and right in my seat in suspense, I can only dream of what I would have felt watching it as you did. I haven't enjoyed a movie as much as Maverick for decades.

His talent is so deep that he can do villains, heroes, physical comedy, dancing, everything but sing (and I wouldn't be very surprised if he can do that too as learning to sing is routine for actors). Just writing this comment various films of his spring to my mind in which his roles have been incredibly diverse. It's a real shame that he is relatively short or he could even have landed the role of James Bond. He'd have made it work anyway but he'd never have got it.
At 0:27 what are we to make of Hangman's expression? Everyone else is tense and fascinated to see if Mav can do it but Hangman settles back with a smile and folds his hands. Given his extremely cock-sure attitude, I can't tell if he's supposed to be expecting Mav to fail and can't wait to see it or if he is supposed to be confident that Mav *will* succeed and he is settling back to enjoy watching 'the master' at work. Having watched it again more closely Hangman's expression and single word - "Damn!" tell me that he was supposed to be waiting for Mav to fail and was genuinely impressed when he didn't.

I found much of the original almost unbearably macho and the beach volleyball is cringe-inducing homoerotic. Maverick got the balance of everything spot on.
The best scene was when he walks into the restaurant in the northwest takes the glass of water drinks it and asks , where am i ?? And the little boy staring at him sais earth.
The whole aerial fight scene with Mav/Rooster in the F-14, and the "baddies" in SU-57's, all the way through to Hangman blasting the SU-57 Pilot and saving Mav and Rooster, those moments will always be some of the best ever in cinema! To this day they still give me goosebumps and a knot in my throat! I even do a big-time fist pump!!! Great f'n movie!!!!
