22:49 - The NPCs in Alola EV train more often than not. What taught me this first hand was my first fight with Plumeria in Moon. I went at her with a Crobat of a slightly higher level and her Golbat cleanly outsped me.
My first surprise was my Crobat vs Nanu's Alolan Persian. I had fully speed trained Crobat and just assumed they outsped even with EVs on Persian. Nope.
Yeah, is being talked how Guzma's Masquerain is terrifying because is fully EV'd and have a good nature (Along with his buff base stats from 7 gen balance). Some trainers use competitive like Pokemon making things more difficult
True, I forgot about FlygonHG. Still, that´s some elite company to be in. Most people just use Toxic, a Focus Sash and Protect. This was refreshing to see.

I’m actually doing my first nuzlocke right now and granted it’s not a mono run but I’ll tell you I have not had a single one of my encounters over half way through have a good nature in fact it’s usually the opposite and bad iv’s to top it off. It’s been fun but I’m also ready to pull my hair out
It's awesome how Litwick nearly beat every enemy or got the kill with the last hit. It's one of my absolute favorites it's so cute and its evolutions are so cool

Other than the first encounter being a bit sus (hand picking the encounrer), trade evolving the Phantump (connecting to another game) and using a totem pokemon (not really against the rules but they're kinda op), this was a great classic Silph run. The names weren't themed, you didnt use the non viable pokemon before they evolved, had some mad strats against the tougher opponents and you didn't need to hack the game for any encounters. More of this please my man ...like a fighting type run of XY, it's fun and difficult.

Cool to see a nuzlocke of my favourite type on one of my favourite gens. I’ve been playing through a similar nuzlocke on ultra moon which i think is generally better for ghost types so u can get a dusk stone to evolve a doublade/lampent before olivia’s trial. Sadly though you miss out on Golurk and Totem Marowak but Chandelure was a monster in my run so i felt it was worth :)
I've got 4 years of experience playing this game. I know it's a nuzlocke, but I couldn't get past the teacher unless I was at level 16 or higher. Also the type you chose is awesome, but you don't get it till you're past the trainer's school which was technically the beginning. Just a heads up. For ultra sun / ultra moon nuzlockes. I've got the types for the beginning of the game. Dark, poison, bug, flying, steel, and normal. Fire, water and grass are available too, but in gen 7 you're rival chooses the starter that's at a disadvantage and he isn't a challenge till the 3rd island. I'm still working my mind around these 3 nuzlockes since you're supposed to make you're rival challenging for yourself
Seeing Mudsdale at 3:22 made me happy. As soon as I saw Mudsdale I knew I would use it, and it VERY quickly became my favorite, surpassing Chandelure, Magnezone, and Houndoom. Even though Ground isy favorite type, I NEVER thought anything would replace Houndoom. I was wrong and I honestly couldn't be happier. Also, I love that my favorite is pretty unique as compared to others.
Hey Silph! Long time viewer and fan, I have a run suggestion I haven’t seen too much of. A ground type run on hg/ss BUT with totodile as the starter choice. Viable early encounters but the grass type rival makes for a very fun challenge, plus there’s some fun encounters throughout the game! Great video!
Fun Fact: I am pretty sure the files for HMs in Alola are still in the game, but don't show up anywhere.. by using "Totally Legit" means, and getting every TM possible.. the HMs that were changed to TMs appeared for a second time at the very end of the list, but they were unusable (No pokemon were compatible). it still said TM before the number though. it was just the next numbers after the last normal TM
I was just reminded that I asked for this run on the Black Water type run. It so cool to see it come to fruition and an excellent showing in such a notoriously difficult game! I was so happy that you made Bertrand your starter. I think you would have won the run if you had gone for the name Rawls over Rand.
Unless I missed something, you totally forgot to bring Decidueye back to your team after the Necrozma fight. Did I miss you mentioning it's death somewhere? I think it would've tipped the final fight in your favor and made the end easier.
Love the video as always silph. You’re the man. Ever consider making more of the let’s play walkthroughs you did with Pokémon red and gold? Those were great, and it could offer more consistent content. Either way I’ll be watching any nuzlocke you put out💪🏼 have a great day!
Bummer that the run failed at the final challenge. Been there. But you did really well for such stacked odds and it's safe to say that was won with slightly better luck. Hope to see more gen 7 runs!

Having done an Ultra Sun run with Ghost types myself in my free time, I can understand the strain of EV training and doing calcs to come up with a plan. It's pain, but you tapped in a lot of resources to see what can be done, and I felt for you on all of those missteps! D: To answer the Lycanroc out-speeding, I don't know where you got 39 from after a singular Bulldoze. Maybe you thought it lowered its speed by 2 stages and not 1? I used the Showdown calculator and the speed run docs, and got a value of 50 at -1 myself. Also, how did you get the Dawn Stone from the youngster at Royal Avenue if he gives it to you after defeating Necrozma? But yeah, Alola is freakin' tiring. Respect for pushing as much as possible with the E4 team you had x)
This came out at the perfect time. I'm stuck in the hospital after surgery and am gonna miss Halloween this year but at least I get a taste of it with this video!
I am deadass doing an Ultra Moon playthrough with a Mono ghost Team as we speak! I've been really pleasantly surprised with Sableye, she's been good for coverage and is a little scrappy. Love it.
yoooo silph playing gen7 les gooooooo oof, shame your first attemp at gen7 ended up as a loss, specially in the very final stretch of the run. i would say with slightly better luck you would have suceeded, but i can see the early game is brutal with that teacher fight (couldnt you get a litwick before that fight though?) hope you try this gen again in the future, its a really nice change of pace despite people heavily criticising the games excessive cutscenes. also its possible to make some runs that are otherwise impossible in pretty much every older gen including ice only.

I learnt from one of FlygonHG's videos that one of the ace trainers before the first kahuna battle has a fully EV trained Butterfree.
Btw I forgot that it has 5 or 6 IV's too, so is a perfect competitive pokemon
The Ace Trainers and the "route kahunas" are pretty tough, the latter use competitive items too. The Alola games are actually pretty tough.
I think you're the first nuzlocker to not use Toxic stall against Ultra Necrozma. Mad respect.
I've seen a couple of FEAR (Focus Sash, Endevour, quick Attack Raticate) tactics before, mainly from FlygonHG

I'm pretty sure Olivia's Lycanroc has speed EVs, which would explain why you didn't outspeed it with Trevenant even after the speed drop.
I always figured with Lillie and Nebby she's not actually carrying Nebby. Nebby is floating and is just hiding in her backpack
