I really don't care when your nuslocking the alola games they intend for you to use the adrenaline orb to access some Pokemon so because it is an intended game mechanic, I do not care if you use it.
I'd argue that using an Adrenaline Orb to get a legitimate, SOS-only encounter is equivalent to using Poké Balls-technically it's using an item, but it doesn't give you any edge in battle and it's important/necessary to obtain a Pokémon, so it's all good.

Honestly, the amount of dark/bug moves in Alola is insane. It reminds me of how brutal gens 5-7 were for rock/steel types simply because every second mon had a random fighting/ground move coverage against them.
So technically you can still get Kantonian Exeggutor in these games by evolving Exeggcute in Ultra Space, which you can access at any time after reaching the Altar, but I have to admit using the eggs with an eviolite was much funnier.
First time commenting that you should do a "Using Pokemon Wrong" Hardcore Nuzlocke! This would be a Nuzlocke with no encounter restrictions* but for any pokemon you want to use, you have to exclusively use the lower of its two offensive stats (or your choice if they are equal*). Basically, if a pokemon's physical attack is higher than its sp. attack, even by a tiny bit, you cannot have that pokemon use any physical moves in battle. This will be especially fun and challenging for pokemon with an obvious preference for one over the other, and I think it could reverse your opinion of some of the franchise's most abysmal learnsets in the earlier games and show off pokemon you haven't appreciated before! I'd recommend a game post physical/special split so you have more diversity in movepools, but you do you! *Optionally, you could elect to deem pokemon with equal Sp. Att and Physical Att ineligible encounters. Could be fun.
This is so creative! I think it could work with the regular nuzlocke encounter system or maybe pre-selecting the mon on each route that has the biggest difference in stats or something.

Just fun new information in case you didn't know, In the Ultra Games you can evolve Pikachu, Exeggcute, and Cubone into their normal non alolan evolution if you evolve them in Ultra Space. Meaning you could have evolved Exeggcute into a Psychic type Exxeggutor. Probably wouldn't have come in handy that much, but still something that could potentially come in handy for future nuzlocke attempts.
Hey did you know? You could have evolved your exeggcute into the Kantonian Exeggutor in USUM! If you are inside of an ultra wormhole, any non-alolan forms can be evolved into! This works for normal Raichu and Marowak as well!
My best headcanon is that Alola relaxed it and made it Psychic. A lot of Kanto-Raichu Pokédex entries mention how stressed out and angry it is. So maybe the chill environment of Alola and chill lifestyle (eating pancakes) mellowed it out enough to unlock latent psychic abilities (Pikachu has been able to learn Agility since Gen 1). Or maybe I’m a nerd and it means nothing.
Yesss the Alloa representation. Honestly USUM might be my favourite mainline Pokémon games to nuzlocke, since it’s so challenging and yet has so many options for team building.

That baltoy chain was super unlucky, honestly props to you for sticking to it for THAT long, I would've given up long before that. And the fact that you still didn't get it is unfortunate.
the closest i ever felt to your baltoy experience was chaining a salamence. not only did it take forever to find a bagon to begin with, i then had to spend hours to get it to call a salamance. i tell a lie, i had to find SEVERAL bagons, BECAUSE THEY KEPT STRUGGLING TO DEATH ON ME.
using Oricorio in Violet made me realize it's actually an extremely good Pokemon for in-game runs. it gets so many tools. it doesn't get secondary STAB for a while, but the defensive flexibility from form switching is great. though the Flying/Psychic one is definitely the worst and you want to be using the other three forms.

For me it wasn't Baltoy, it was Goomy. I chained for so long! To rub salt in the wound, on another playthrough, for whatever reason, I tried to get Goomy again. It showed up on the second call. USUM are my absolute favourite pokemon games, and I've played since gen 1. They're actually legitimately challenging! Also, you can evolve exeggcute into regular exeggcutor. If pokemon evolve while in the ultra wilds... they evolve into their kantonian forms since you're not in Alola!

the haina desert sos section resonated with me on a spiritual level. i did a mono ghost run (not a nuzlocke) of ultra sun last year and golett is the counterpart to baltoy. i got 11 KLUTZ GOLETTS IN A ROW before getting one with iron fist. i lost the coin flip 11 times in a row. insanely unlucky odds. these krokoroks felt scientifically engineered to be as hostile towards ghost types as possible too. embargo preventing me from healing made me wipe a handful of times. it was an absolute nightmare that i wouldn't wish upon my worst enemy. easily the worst experience i've ever had in a pokemon playthrough to date. great video as always!
Always love watching your USUM runs as they are really challenging, but with a wide range of team mates showcased for the perfect blend. Next time you do a monotype in USUM I’d highly recommend the ice type. Most of the heavy hitters aren’t available until the third island but you get enough early on if you don’t mind catching more than one in each area. You might be surprised that Delibird was actually instrumental to beating a few early Totems thanks to Z move bounce.
Your final team was phenomenal FlygonHG you show that you don't always need the most overpowered pokemon to enjoy a nuzlocke run 😁❤️ I definitely would love to see you do a randomized nuzlocke of BD/SP or Randomized Sword/Shield run.
I’m currently doing a professor oak challenge of UM and witnessing your struggles with Baltoy reminded me of trying to get a smoochum to call for a happiny holding an oval stone. But since it’s a professor oak challenge and you can’t get adrenaline orbs until after completing Melemele Island I had to INDIVIDUALLY encounter one smoochum after another for hours over multiple days to finally get one ON TOP of using a compound eyes Butterfree. Mind you, happiny has a 10% encounter rate and has a 50% chance of holding this stone. I have no idea why it took so long - also I know I could’ve gotten one from calling pichu but I struggled to find them without leading with a static Pokemon and when I did lead with one they’d call pichu more often. Plus the Pokemon where Smoochum can be found rewarded higher xp to train while looking

Oof, this was a rough one. Honestly, i really appreciate Flygon continuing to play these late gen games even though they’re long and tedious and obviously not his favorite. Sun and Moon was the first game I played since third gen when I was a kid (my parents wouldn’t buy me a gameboy DS when I was a kid) and it got me back into the franchise after a decade away. I’ll always have fond memories of really enjoying the gen 7 games and love to see play-throughs of them on this channel.

Wait a sec. You can get Kantonian Exeggutor by using the Leaf Stone in Ultra Space, and you can Island Scan for Delphox on Poni Island. But that Necrozma fight makes that alright in my mind.

Hi, former S.O.S. encounter farmer here, I once attempted to get king's rock from slowbro/slowking to evolve my poliwhirl, with slowbro having a 10% chance of appearing from an s.o.s. call from slowpoke while slowking had a 5% chance, and both had 5% chance to hold king's rock, which was boosted to 15% by my butterfree on front, but it took me LITERAL DAYS to just get one king's rock, and the chance to get slowbro was decently high, around 1 every 15-20 slowbros, but I only got 1 slowking encounter from that entire torture session (which was around 2-3 hours). It was... a lot
I wonder if your Pokemon levels influenced the Myserious Absence of Baltoy. It doesn't say whether or not they're involved, but I want to know why it happened, too! Otherwise, I loved this video. It's been a while since we've seen things go so wrong for you, and Mimikyu is establishing itself as a run-murderer. Ultra Moon was my step back into the series after not playing since gen 4. Having played every gen now, I can say I got lucky. The Ultra games are amazing.
For future reference, evolving a non alolan form pokemon with an alolan evolution in an ultra wormhole can get you the original evolution. That would've allowed you to get kantonian exeggutor and can also get you kantonian raichu and marowak.

Always love watching your USUM runs as they are really challenging, but with a wide range of team mates showcased for the perfect blend. Next time you do a monotype in USUM I’d highly recommend the ice type. Most of the heavy hitters aren’t available until the third island but you get enough early on if you don’t mind catching more than one in each area. You might be surprised that Delibird was actually instrumental to beating a few early Totems thanks to Z move bounce.

I’m currently doing a professor oak challenge of UM and witnessing your struggles with Baltoy reminded me of trying to get a smoochum to call for a happiny holding an oval stone.
But since it’s a professor oak challenge and you can’t get adrenaline orbs until after completing Melemele Island I had to INDIVIDUALLY encounter one smoochum after another for hours over multiple days to finally get one ON TOP of using a compound eyes Butterfree.
Mind you, happiny has a 10% encounter rate and has a 50% chance of holding this stone. I have no idea why it took so long
- also I know I could’ve gotten one from calling pichu but I struggled to find them without leading with a static Pokemon and when I did lead with one they’d call pichu more often. Plus the Pokemon where Smoochum can be found rewarded higher xp to train while looking

Oof, this was a rough one. Honestly, i really appreciate Flygon continuing to play these late gen games even though they’re long and tedious and obviously not his favorite. Sun and Moon was the first game I played since third gen when I was a kid (my parents wouldn’t buy me a gameboy DS when I was a kid) and it got me back into the franchise after a decade away. I’ll always have fond memories of really enjoying the gen 7 games and love to see play-throughs of them on this channel.

Fun fact- if you evolve exeggcute, pikachu or cubone in Ultra Space, they will evolve into their Kantonian form. I guess bc you’re technically not in Alola anymore.

Wait a sec. You can get Kantonian Exeggutor by using the Leaf Stone in Ultra Space, and you can Island Scan for Delphox on Poni Island. But that Necrozma fight makes that alright in my mind.

Hi, former S.O.S. encounter farmer here, I once attempted to get king's rock from slowbro/slowking to evolve my poliwhirl, with slowbro having a 10% chance of appearing from an s.o.s. call from slowpoke while slowking had a 5% chance, and both had 5% chance to hold king's rock, which was boosted to 15% by my butterfree on front, but it took me LITERAL DAYS to just get one king's rock, and the chance to get slowbro was decently high, around 1 every 15-20 slowbros, but I only got 1 slowking encounter from that entire torture session (which was around 2-3 hours). It was... a lot

Ultra Moon was my step back into the series after not playing since gen 4. Having played every gen now, I can say I got lucky. The Ultra games are amazing.
For future reference, evolving a non alolan form pokemon with an alolan evolution in an ultra wormhole can get you the original evolution. That would've allowed you to get kantonian exeggutor and can also get you kantonian raichu and marowak.
