I just got my second Model Y. First was back in 2021. When I ordered in 2021 it was super easy, but 2 years later it was even more simple. Ordered on a Sunday picked up on Wednesday. Ordered online and then basically everything else done through the app (including the financing). When delivery day was here they told me the parking spot. Synched my phone to the new Y, looked it over for a few minutes and then drove off. During the whole buying process I didn't have to speak to anyone. Nobody pressuring you for anything. Had some text exchanges and signed paperwork through the app. Like you, I've had horrible experiences at dealerships. Typically buying vehicles at a dealership is an all day experience and they've used the bait and switch on me as well. The Tesla experience makes me not to want to go to another dealership again which means the only vehicles I will ever buy in the future is Tesla. I don't mind waiting for the vehicle as it's the exact one I want. It's possible through a dealership you can get a car that same day but it's rarely ever the exact one you want and sitting in a dealership for 5 + hours listening to their sales pitch and waiting on their financing BS just isn't worth it.
Everything you said is exactly how I feel. I can't wait for the refresh of the M3!! I am going with the performance. Anticipation is killing me😢😢 I test drove it !!! I fell in love , the car was so planted to the ground and the acceleration oh the acceleration !!! No words , I was not expecting it so literally for the first second I got nauseous😂 I can't wait
I am totally done with dealing with car dealerships. They are so outrageous. Over charge as much as they can (it is their once in a life time due to the damn covid). I will order the car from factory from now on. So I either will get tesla or some others but only directly with mfg. I picked up the model 3 in 10/31 and Y in 12/3. I needed to pick up the Y as they won’t allow to push off anymore. So I won’t get the EV credit but I do get the ‘discount’ 3750 from tesla to take delivery in December. Actually, in total, I get about 4k lower because the discount is on the car price so it directly lowers the sales tax as well. I took the loan from Orange County’s credit union for both cars. They don’t offer the best rate like some online banks but I feel they are reasonable and I also like to be able to access the branch to speak w the staff if I have questions. They are local in where I live.
The other thing is, you don’t really need to wire any deposit to Tesla. For both of the deliveries, I just took 2 checks - one is from the bank on the loan, and the other one is the deposit. Since you got double charged on the Y, I knew I would not want to link the payment app to my bank account. For the business write off, that is the very great idea. I will need to study that and will be grateful if you can do a ‘s-corp’ setup 101 video.
@@EverydayChris oh yea honestly try get a sponsor with them or something lol, not in the market for a Tesla currently but I put DCU down in the trusty notebook when I’m ready to pull the trigger.
Moss Bros Honda is also my worst car purchase experience ever! Bait-and-switch once you arrived at their dealership after triple confirming the deal over the phone and text. It’s not worth the drive or the frustration. I feel sorry for people living in Riverside county for having limited dealerships options.
Hey Chris, you seem pretty connected within Tesla. I’m trying to get my story out to those who are considering buying a Tesla. If one has never been through this experience before it can be pretty straightforward or a confusing mess. My wife and I went to Long Beach to pick up our leased Tesla but once they showed us the vehicle it was in terrible condition. They attempted to clean up the vehicle paint issues but what we didn’t know right away was that the delivery center doesn’t have water available to detail the vehicles. What they showed us on their second attempt was worse than the first attempt. The rep/sales man said they could just do a VIN swap but we would have to wait a few hours (scheduled us for the last appointment for the day). The second Model Y wasn’t really any better but we were told we can just sumbit a service appointment to get the issues addressed. So we said OK. That service appointment for a brand new car was two weeks. Well the main issue is that when they cancelled the first set of lease documents and created the new set of documents the monthly lease payment went up $90 per month compared to the first car we were supposed to get. Keep in mind the vehicles were literally identical; same color, same options, same mileage, same year, same wheels,, same down payment, same lease terms, same day. Everything was idenitcal including the sales price and all associated discounts. When we asked why the monthly payment was different the sales rep stated he wasn’t able to pull the first set of lease documents after it was cancled and that we could only see the second set of lease documents. I also pulled up my Tesla account and could only see the second set of lease documents. I ended up calling Ally Auto (the lender) because they had me listed with two accounts for those two leased vehicles. Well that was no good. And also they stated they didn’t have the different lease documents, actually they told me they didn’t have any of the lease documents. I was told i had to get that from Tesla Finance. I was finally able to get both sets of lease documents from Tesla Finance but they told me it was outside of their lane and that i would have to talk to the delivery center. i did that but they kept going back to the lender. A total circle jerk. What happened is that the residual value of the second model Y was more than $3,000 less than the original car. Please keep in mind that i signed both sets of lease documents on both of the exact same vehicles on the same day within just a couple of hours of each other. When i asked what the differences were they couldn’t tell me because the delivery center sales rep stated he didn’t have access to the lease he just canceled. I was only able to compare the documents a couple of weeks later after Tesla Finance sent me the two sets of documents (even getting those documents took me more than two weeks, several phone calls, and several emails). The purchase price of the two cars was the same, the down payment was the same, everything should have been the same but they are now charging me more than $3000 more for the exact same car signed for on the exact same day. This feels underhanded and more like a bait and switch or a criminal act. The sales rep that day told us that 5 different people refused delivery of their expected car because of how poorly those cars were prepared. I can only imagine this same screw up with their paperwork occured with them as well. Now i can’t say they were all leased deals but if they were that would quite possibly mean that delivery center scored and extra $15000 or more by those of us who ended up having to have their lease papers redone for a different car. Sounds pretty lucrative if you ask me. This situation is not cool, criminal is how i feel. I’m still trying to get resolution on this but am really losing any hope in being able to do so. I am going to post my story everywhere i can in hopes of esnuring this does not happen to anyone else. i know i can’t be the only one who got scammed by Tesla. I don’t type that lightly. I feel scammed.

I have a question. Since Tesla is opening up the Supercharger Network to all EV’s (some people even report waiting in line for other non-Tesla models) would you swap the Model X with something else? I personally am in love with the Rivian R1S.

Hi Chris I’m n Australia & have had an M3 Red / White LR on order from June with delivery showing Feb - May 2023. At a recent Supercars event (Aussie version of NASCAR) ironically Tesla had a stand that was really popular. The guys there showed me there was some M3’s coming in inventory so I decided to change my order to a Black / Black saved $5K & am getting the car in the next month. I don’t love dealer trickery either but found the Tesla experience of ordering a car then CRICKETS frustrating! Even now I have a car allocated & currently on a ship in port in Melbourne ( I’m in another state ) they still cannot tell me of a delivery date! As I hadn’t organised finance not knowing when I would get my original order it’s now a race to secure finance before my car arrives. Not the greatest experience but am looking forward to delivery day experience. Love your channel.
Hi Chris! I'm going to be purchasing a Model 3 Long Range in the next few weeks and going to pay around half for a down payment.
