Oh my gosh, I was there when I heard it live.(I went on the first day) This was the highlight of the night. As stated previously, I went on the first night, and no one was expecting Chloe to play it solo since the programme book only stated Paganinia and nothing more. But then, after wrapping up the fifth piece, Issac just left the stage, and everyone in the audience was dumbfounded. I was seated on the balcony, and I could see lost of ppl turning their heads ard to look at their friends as if to ask,'There's no way she's gonna play solo, is she?" But then Chloe just stood there on stage and started tuning her violin. The concert hall was so quiet except for Chloe and her violin, it's like watching an Olympics match. Then Chloe squared her shoulders, planted her feet into the ground, and took a deep breath. The concert hall was so tense, but Chloe absolutely shredded that tension when she started playing Paganinia. Also, when she's playing the violin alone in the concert hall, you can literally hear every sound it makes. All of us in the audiences were 110% focused on Chloe's playing. When she finished playing, the whole concert hall applauded so loudly, and everyone was just cheering. (And it went on for a while) When my friends and I were living in the concert hall, there were lots of ppl saying,'What am I doing with my life, man' or 'what just happened, that was insane' because a lot of us were still trying to process what was going on. Afterwards, when I asked my non classical listener friend on her thoughts, even she was blown away. I will definitely remember this concert, specifically this performance, for a long time to come. This was the third Chloe's concert I went to and I'm so glad that I managed to watch it live.
Have been partially deaf for about 6 weeks (tinnitus, no overtones, etc.) and so ceased all music. But today by some miracle things went back to normal and this one appears on my YTube screen. Of course she is famous for her exceedingly beautiful intonation, but let me tell you just how this sounds after weeks of nothing : Jaw dropping, absolutely stunning. Thank you and Brava! Stunning.
have others by Milstein, Veriko Tchumburidze, In Mo Yang, Guy Braunstein to mention some, and now ofc chloe chuas recording which is really impressive!!
4 years after Chloe Sensei taught Brett and Eddy this piece, we finally get to hear it in its entirety. Singaporeans have been so lucky to have had her live performances all these years and the SSO has done a superb job of supporting her. After daily practice routines which include Paganini caprices, Paganiniana is a walk in the park for Chloe. I am sure she will continue working on technical virtuosity, which she has in abundance, but as she continues her education, a deepening understanding of music generally will help her in the area she wants and needs to become a better musician. She already is, as a number of people have commented, a world class violinist. She will get even better if she continues on this trajectory. Thank you for this upload!
It WOULD BE LITERALLY ABSOLUTELY IMPOSSIBLE for you to be MORE RIGHT IF YOU TRIED!!!!!!!!!!! (When I use block capitals it is to emphasize what I say, not shout.) Julie Gill, Glasgow, Scotland.
Thank you Chloe! To call this performance "flawless" would be insulting - between "flawless" and this amazing performance is an unbridgeable chasm, separating "lack of mistakes" from supreme achievement. This performance sets a high mark that perhaps nobody else will ever exceed. The perfection of technique is beyond imagination, the tone of this violin and the audio recording are amazing.
Eddy and Brett, are you watching? This piece could be one of little more than superb technique and virtuosity. Ms. Chua adds layers of interpretation, of beauty and musicality, that make it so much more. I am so grateful to be able to listen to this.
Yeah, take a bow little one, that is some incredible playing! she is no longer a child prodigy/ virtuoso anymore, she is a bona fide one of the best violin players on the planet.
Bravisimo!!! Chloe, no matter how many times I watch your performances I am ever in awe of your refind skill and moreso in the the passion and interpretation of eveything you perform. I am deeply touched and moved. And as your success and noteriety have exploded over the years, you remain humble and appreciative and that makes you even more special. Thank you for your tremendous hard work and for sharing with the world the blessings God has given you. You are truly so many lovely things wrapped up in one and you make a difference. Thank you!! As well, a special thanks to the SSO for showcasing Chloe's talent in the Symphony by bestowing her as the Resident Artist and for unselfishly sharing your stunning recordings for the world to admire. You are deeply appreciated.
Unbelievable playing. You have absolute mastery over phrasing, intonation, and sound. You have been chosen to play the violin by God's angels. Practice alone cannot explain your control over this very difficult instrument at such a young age - like Heifetz, like Ricci, like Menuhin - an incredible prodigy.
Desde hace años q la voy siguiendo y siempre maravillosa. Exquisita musicalidad y una técnica asombrosa pareciendo que todo es fácil. Su integra personalidad lo hace todo exquisito. Un placer maravilloso escucharla. Gracias ❤
it doesn't get any better than this. this is one of the best violin performances that I've ever heard, and I have heard many. I have never heard the beginning of this piece (the theme) played better than this. she just keeps getting better and better. bravo Chloe! ❤️
Beautiful!😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍 Thank You, Violine Queen, Empress, Goddess, Warrior! I love all your Performances! You are "A Gifted Goddess"! 🙏 Happy New Year 2025.
Chloe had been playing for 70 minutes before she gave this magnificent performance. We now have the Vitali and Veracini with which she began the recital. Hopefully the rest - the two works by Tartini and the Locatelli violin concerto - will be posted too.
Chloe stands head and shoulders above all of the young violinists in their twenties who are making a name for themselves in Gramophone with big publishing houses. It isn't even close. The difference in class is a chasm.
I put this on to fall asleep I was so very wrong There is so much punch and energy with this piece I am fucking pumped up I feel like fighting a whole people This is so incredibly powerful Goddamn
Very solid techniques. And I like her tone. The final product is not a showing off one but a beautiful arts work which is very important. I hope I can hear her Bach solo works and Mozart sonatas in the future as I think these three composers' violin works are the most difficult ones except Schubert's fantasy.
She plays every note confidently with a full tone, observing every dynamic while adding her own individual phrasings, rubato and expressions, in a performance filled with energy and momentum. Magnificent.
Of course Chloe is a prodigy and one of the greatest violinists in the world who legally can't drink. I play this piece, albeit despite that I am older than Chloe's parents, I do not play this nearly as well as she does in some parts. Ok, a lot of places! I could see just a few passages where it was about 98% clean, just minor catchings of a string with the bow, and around 5:50 there is a different spiccato bowing in my music, where some of the notes are grouped in 4 to the bow stroke which she played separately. The vast bulk of this was excellent with the highest level of performance, in which she really conveyed what the composer was trying to express. Overall she was wonderfully smooth. Stylistically I would have done a couple of things differently....in the first variation some of the chords could have been a little shorter spiccato, and maybe a little more volume in places on the second variation. She caught just a little extra in the beginning of the third variation with chords....not as clean as the greats would play it, but, amazing for her age. She is a master with flying spiccato with chords (that is my way of describing fast moving chords with that bow stroke). Could have made things a little more dramatic around 6:45-6:50 with greater intensity, but her playing is beyond exceptional. I would like to see greater volume on the run ups around 7:25-7:30, and a little more energy around 7:40...you don't blast those notes but put more into it, and then for the start of the finish I would have come at that with a bit more strength and passion, and really put some more into it the last 15 seconds. To me it is almost like she is too calm when the piece is coming to a really great finish. Her technique is beyond massive, and she plays this as easily as a good violinist in their first year of high school would play a relatively easy concerto by Bach or Vivaldi. If I were giving this incredible young woman any advice, it wouldn't be with the violin (yeah, being old I have some feeling of interpretation and my preferences for how to perform pieces like this), but the advice I would give, would be for Chloe to spend time with her friends and to pursue some other activities. Do whatever cardio is enjoyable, have some stretching, massage, and light weights (nothing to screw up the arms or shoulders, but, many violinists who don't do this, when they hit their late 40's or 50's, they can have a lot of pain and a tough time playing), see movies or concerts with non-classical music, go shopping, have fun, and get plenty of rest a couple of days before a performance. I can't even imagine how incredible she will be in 5 or 10 years. Well Chloe reminded me of how this piece should sound, and that I need to practice it a bit more! Ok...a lot more!
Incredible clarity, dead in tune, and such a beautiful sound. She has that slight edge/bite on the start of each note that gives the clarity and works very well in Paganini. The glorious cantabile phrasing she can create is another great part of her playing.
Whoever came up with the idea of the thumbnail needs a raise 😮💨

Agree! Her live performances are just… 🥹🥹🥹
That sounds super cool fr
I went on the first day also 😊
You are so super lucky to have experienced that live!
The fact that this released publicly just after TwoSet said goodbye... she's still Chloe Sensei to TwoSetters.
Her tone is so rich it's genuinely insane

Stunning.
Until then we only had Hilary's version, now we have another version to look forward to, this performance will certainly reach millions of views
Milstein's own performances of the piece are wonderful!
have others by Milstein, Veriko Tchumburidze, In Mo Yang, Guy Braunstein to mention some, and now ofc chloe chuas recording which is really impressive!!
only Hilary’s? Yeah if you don’t count the many others that we’ve had for years
bro only knows hilary hahn
milsteins in the best, he wrote it after all.

There are many great players, but Chloe is one of the rarest for she does not just play, she communicates.
She played it so musically that I forgot how insanely difficult this piece is👏
Yes, the musicality is stunning, particularly in the slow variations.
same I was thinking...wait is this piece really that hard. Then I was like YES😂
Stellar and expressive performance that makes the music so full of life!
Next generation of great violinists are here. Chloe is the clear leader.

Lingling.
I can't stop replaying this!!! 🔥🔥🔥
Im not sure why this brought a grown man to tears, but it was just so overwhelming... I've never heard anything like it, even from her.
The technical skill that you need to play this is off the chart, and Chloe makes it look easy. This performance deserves 5 million views easily. 😤
Yeah, take a bow little one, that is some incredible playing! she is no longer a child prodigy/ virtuoso anymore, she is a bona fide one of the best violin players on the planet.
Humble perfection - inventive musicality - Mr. Milstein would be proud!
She's a force of nature 👏👏💕💕

Simply breathtaking. One for the records for sure.
Dammn it, now I need twoset to react to this but they retired 😓
De toute spendeur!! Au bout de quelques secondes, j'ai la chair de poule ...

It isn't easy to choose a favourite, but yes, these past few years Chloe's performances are invariably at the very pinnacle of the art of violin.
ボウの位置が変わらず素晴らしい❤
音の迫力もあるしいつか聞いてみたい。
The slow parts give me goose bumps. That fast parts are perfection. Wow.
Bravo..!!! Wonderful, Chloe..!! Congratulations from Santiago de Chile..!!

I could learn to like Paganini if I listened only to you play his music. Thank you for the marvelous interpretation.
What a magnificent talent.
Mechanical precision and yet played with nuance and emotion.
I would not have believed it possible without the evidence.
Best Christmas gift EVER!!!!!!!!!
Thanks, Chloe!
This performance is one of a kind. It is so intricate yet, musically enduring and clear.
Chloe stands head and shoulders above all of the young violinists in their twenties who are making a name for themselves in Gramophone with big publishing houses.
It isn't even close. The difference in class is a chasm.

Even the bow string couldn't keep up with her. 🎉 Damn sick.
I had the opportunity to listen to this live. It's great to finally see it uploaded here.
Esta violinista🎻si es talentosa y muy bonita😊
How not love her playing.
