- This is a clip from the film, The Devil's Violinist. This may be my favorite music scene of all time! I absolutely love it! The film is about the Italian violinist and composer Niccolò Paganini. Paganini is considered the greatest violinist of the 19th century. Playing Niccolò Paganini is the German violinist David Garrett. I am a huge David Garrett fan! This scene inspired me to learn the violin. Let me know what you think.

Dam if the girls went like that for playing an instrument nowadays I would be happier
They still do, it's just that security guards are present now😅
Modern girls would look at their phone in such occasions
Ya gotta be as majestic as him first😏
@@b.994 majestic😂
Some of us still do
He bought the whole violin and used the whole violin, crazy.
Well you can't only buy and use part of it. That new hood slang is the worst
@@dongiano What the "hood slang" 🤮 means is that most people will never truly utilize an instrument to it's fullest extent and Paganini is one of the few who does. It's not difficult to understand.
um.. as a violinist yes you can if you dont use all aspects of the violin and just play scales you wouldnt be using it to its full potential especially is you only play in first position as many do that using the whole violin utilizes pizz, harmonics, chords, aswell as getting into the higher register and so much more pagannini caprice 24 is an excellent example of using the whole violin, and that is not "hood slang"@@dongiano
went straight from Concerto no 1 to Caprice 24
They were in a rush.
From a concerto without a soloist and a solo piece with an orchestra
😂😂
I like how the other violinist told him at the end , I am selling my violin, after what I saw I cant play it anymore.
Iam here
I honestly wish playing the violin in modern times would be as seductive as Paganini in the film is making it seem.
40 hours a day practice doesnt pull anyone:(
@@AjayTheBard :(
Know your audience and be really not ugly and you can do it.
hahahahahaha😓😨😰😢😭
I watched David Garrett in concert in Bucharest, and believe me...girls were crazy for him! I'm a grown woman and I got crazy for him too...he was magnificent! Played like a God!
"paganini non ripete" is still nowadays a figure of speech in modern italian language... this shuold give a measurement of the power of this man and his music
I adore and treasure this film despite what people say about it! The magnitude of Paganini’s genius, the emulation by Garrett musically and physically is beyond exceptional.
I agree!
What’s the name of the film ?
@@EnglishdreamwithValeriya the devil's violinist
Paganini was the equivalent of a Punk Rocker at the time. He used chords and melodies that were only supposed to be allowed for the church and put it in "common" music. Which was super metal. The church did not like it.
Better than when he played in orchestra live. Film is much much better IMHO. Just love this presentation.
This guy had the tastes of a modern rock star with the exception of his time unlike ours. His music, his style…
Part of the reason people were so in awe with his skill is because nobody really plucked violin strings, they pressed them. Him pressing, plucking, and the bow is part of what made him so amazing
Plucking was relatively rare, but not unheard of (it's still relatively rare). What makes Caprice 24 nuts is that he's plucking with BOTH HANDS. It's hard to see if you don't know what's going on, but you can't pluck a violin that fast with just your right hand doing normal pizzicato. Caprice 24 involves left-handed pizzicato, which was practically unheard-of, and is still extremely rare. So your right hand plucks the strings while your left hand both fingers the notes AND plucks the strings.
Paganini's Caprices were not just amazing for their time either. There are certainly a lot more people today who can play Caprice 24, but that's mostly just because competition for music schools and orchestra spots has become so fierce. It's still among the hardest existing pieces of violin music.
@M0du5Pwn3n5 I feel like a schmuck now because I didn't even realize that he was doing that. Watching it again, I do, but initially I didn't realize he was using both hands to pluck
The song is not written as plucking with both hands…… it’s written as staccato with the bow and a hammer on and pull off with the left hand to make a unique sound. It’s not pizz with both hands. You can watch Hillary Hahn do it the correct way as this is not it…
From the fawning fangirls to the contemptful violinists in the orchestra to the violinists in the audience just trying to figure out what he was playing, the closest thing we have to Paganini today is truly Yngwie Malmsteen.
Have a gander at paul gilbert and Joe Stump
@@collumjiggas I see your point, but with many of Joe Stump's songs, it is obvious which Yngwie song inspired it (so strongly that one might be tempted to use the term rip-off), and while Paul Gilbert has got the most impressive chops, he isn't as purely a neoclassicist like Yngwie. I'd mention Impelleteri before Gilbert.
JASON BECKER
@@kreatorsepultura6818 You are not wrong. But I find Becker and Friedman to be sort of like Shakespeare's Rosencrantz and Guildenstern: There's really no reason to distinguish one from the other... For that reason, I can't see Jason Becker as being a tremendous influence on the whole of the rock guitar community when he wasn't really even unique within his own band. As much as I like Paul Gilbert, the same might be said about him and Bruce Bouillet. But I admit Jason wasn't just all chops... he played some nice tasty stuff and didn't really get credit for his musicality, in the same way that people who haven't really listened to much Malmsteen sometimes critique him, too.
Paganini: I bought the whole violin, I'm going to use the whole god damned violin.
Paganini was one of the most extraordianry Composers and Performers in what is related to Violin, ever.
Actually I more impressed with talent of guys who able to write down his play in notes… actually it’s super amazing
David is seriously the incarnation of Paganini. He's perfect for this role🙏🏻😍
I agree although he is a bit handsome to be paganini, but I will suspend my disbelief. but great movie altogether.
@@kronoscamron7412
Have you seen it in English by any chance?
I've only found it in Russian....no subtitles 😿
If only he could act.
@@kronoscamron7412 I agree😅😅
@obbzerver you ain't lyin, the movie is great and he's an amazing musician, but yeah his acting is just not very good
3:25 The terror in the violinist face next to him LOL
Incomparable. Wonderful!
Every generation has its pop music thank goodness,I wonder what will be remembered the most?
Kto takoy Paganini? Vy evo znaete???
So Amazing and Beautiful 😍
Thank you for sharing
No wonder you don't hear this more often. No one can play it. Stunning in every way.
Back then classical music was for the people what modern music is to us today. They usually cheered during and between movements. In fact, oftentimes musicians like Paganini only performed the first movement of a concerto as it was the most popular part. And they usually ended their performances with salon pieces to show off with their skills. Furthermore, artists such as Mozart or Beethoven improvised a lot (cadenzas, for example). I guess, all the classical composers would be somewhat shocked to see how the conservatory-trained musicians of today replicate their music note for note without adding anything personal to the compositions. Unfortunately, most of them were not able to do that anyway as they had never learned to improvise. And they would never dare altering one single note, either.
Thanks for giving this interetsing context info👍🏾.
I do not agree, there are young people who create and play their own cadences, see for example María Dueñas.
For improvisation, now we have the jazz.
NICOLO PAGANNINI ES EL MEJOR COMPOSITOR DE VIOLIN QUE HE VISTO EN TODA MI VIDA...
Absolutely exquisite.
Impresionante David Garrett ♥️♥️♥️

I had never heard of this film until I landed here. When I read your comments about it being so great, I was skeptical. I am now convinced! Awesome scene. Best violin scene ever!

Yes, one can understand that Paganini is a genius. He is a genius. But you can't treat people badly. You have to respect people who treat you well!

It is musical genius, for sure and the added theatrics enhance it. My daughter too played, performed, this but it would be almost impossible for me as father to bear for her; never the les, it's utterly superb entertainment.
I honestly feel that this movie leaves us a lot to think about and I loved that movie too much. At the end it was very emotional but the movie is very good and I recommend that you watch it and the ending
