    Middle and upper class people talking about what it's like growing up with nothing will never come close to solving the problem.
    It's been the same since the 90s at least and probably for all of human history.
    People in power have no idea what it's like at the bottom of the pay scale and that's the issue that needs to be sorted out.

      Yet they follow a party lead by Farage and Tice, both millionaire privately educated men. Your point makes little sense unless you support Corbyn, where as the people supporting the riots agree with Reform.

      The "we were so poor we put down the cats" trope is tiresome.
      I grew up on a council estate in the 70`s. Everyone was poor. Almost everyone had a pet, usually a cat or dog.
      Their thoughts on poor people are exactly that, middle class musings on living as the working class.
      They have not experienced being poor. It is someting they read about in a book while at university.

    Plenty of working class kids & youngsters who are not going out destroying their own or others communities and possessions. Not terrifying peaceful citizens around them. Children’s Commissioner didn’t focus on the root of the issue - bad, poor or absent parenting. Where is the national debate about this core issue in this country? The destructive impact of this can be across the country. It cannot just be blamed on low income. It is at heart a cultural issue.

    So you accept it when police state that the Rudakubana murders were not an act of terror even though he was in possession of an Al Qeada training manual, and clearly, his act struck terror into the victims. But you won't accept the ruling that the riots weren't fueled solely by far-right attitudes. Perhaps people are fed up with what's happening on our streets and the general apathy displayed by the police or the way that they seem to be very selective about who they're actually policing and how they carry out their duty? You justiry injustices based on the narrative you're trying to push. You cant have it both ways.

      The definition of terrorism isn't just every act that instills terror in the victims, or that would include virtually every violent crime.
      Rudakubana was obsessed with violence. The Al Qaeda manual was just part of a generalised interest in extremism and violence, he didn't have any specific political ideology driving his actions. So while his actions are _terrible,_ they are not _terrorism._

    • @YTMrB
      @YTMrB 2 วันที่ผ่านมา +12

      If you understood what the actual definition of Terrorism was you wouldn't be surprised at the charges. School shootings strike terror, doesn't mean they're defined as terror attacks. Juvenile convictions do not follow them around for the rest of their lives juvenile cautions will not show up on a DBS check and most court convictions are said to be “spent” after 5 years and would not have to be declared. If she is asking for this you would think she would have researched it.
    Or of course she may know and is just lying about it.

  • @keithd26
    @keithd26 2 วันที่ผ่านมา +4

    That's a hard sell that the policing isn't 2 tier when we all saw police fining the public thousands of pounds during covid, yet stood outside no. 10 with parties knowingly going on and only investigated after being forced by the media and even then only giving minimum fines.
    I realise you're talking about racial dividing lines here and I'm talking social status dividing lines but you didn't explicitly say that so I'm taking advantage.
    But thats not the point, actions like that give the perception that the police are against you so of course its easy then for bad actors to then manipulate that, because the trust is gone.
    Just look at the Sarah Everard case then look the rioters in the eye and tell them that the police are on their side.
    Fact is, as a society we've failed by not holding our governments and police forces to a higher standard, and its always the young that suffer.

    What do authorities expect from young people? Playing fields sold off, childhood games outlawed, like conkering. Indoctrinated instead of being educated. Taught to seek external validation and not to grow internally, infantilised adults is the end result.
    I can't see how this report deals in generalisations, considsring someone was well paid, and well placed to add nuance.
    Being young, you are keenly aware theres something more to life than work and taxation. I left school in the 80s and we nelieved we were part of building something, we were a voice that sought a hearing too.
    Youth arent attacking policing in general, they’re attacking abuses of power, authority and bad policing tactics. Kettling has now become a social control tactic. Gaslight the public about events, dismiss and denoince all forms of criticism and concern. Stamp on the outrage once the public mood reaches a boiling point.
    Every act and communication is a play on pressures, frictions, and tensions. Behind all eords and thoughts theres an underlying expression of atress, we have not heen taught this about the English language but it'sa truth to which there is no argument or counterpoint.

It’s listening to the children, sopping to their infantile, ticker tape, click bait sponsored opinions that got us into this BS in the first place! Children should be listening to parents, parents who are responsible and adult not trying to be “big brother/sister or bestie”. Most of these kids are just bored or over hyped on video game violence, they have barely had a minute of their lives when they haven’t been overstimulated! Like addicts they need the next fix of excitement so they get involved in these riots and demonstrations for the buzz, most of them not even knowing what it’s all about! Neuroimaging studies have shown that the amygdala, the tiny almond-shaped brain structure that mediates fear, is larger in people with more rightwing views. It is more active in those favoring strong protective authority and harboring a suspicion of outsiders and of people who are different. This is a telling finding, because we know that the development of the circuitry of the brain is decisively influenced by the child’s emotional environment in the early years.

      In an analysis of two large-scale, nationally representative United Kingdom data sets (N = 15,874), we found that lower general intelligence (g) in childhood predicts greater racism in adulthood, and this effect was largely mediated via conservative ideology. A secondary analysis of a U.S. data set confirmed a predictive effect of poor abstract-reasoning skills on antihomosexual prejudice, a relation partially mediated by both authoritarianism and low levels of intergroup contact. All analyses controlled for education and socioeconomic status. Our results suggest that cognitive abilities play a critical, albeit underappreciated, role in prejudice. Consequently, we recommend a heightened focus on cognitive ability in research on prejudice and a better integration of cognitive ability into prejudice models.
