    Why only 32 bit version of Chrome?

    • @amsatt
      @amsatt  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      perfect question to ask from Google or Lenovo :). The Mediatek chipset is 64 bit so it can run 64 bit Chrome OS.

      @@amsatt It's crazy , I snagged two 64gb's when these first hit Walmart at $249 , for my kid & mom, never noticed this until yesterday. I read a comment somewhere, someone was saying the 32 bit version is less work for the chip.. idk.

    Regarding external monitor resolution, get a USB 3.0 to HDMI adapter with DisplayLink support and plug it into a USB-C hub connected to the Chromebook. With that setup I was able to get 1920x1080 at 60 Hz on a 15” portable monitor with the Duet. (I don't have a CM3.) I bought the CableCreation USB 3.0 to HDMI Adapter (with DisplayLink) from Amazon.

    Think about this - Google introduced the Chrome browser in 2008, and hardly anyone has used any other browser ever since. Let's be real about this. It's like Windows OS. So, if you need a portable device just to browse the web, and access your favorite online (browser delivered) entertainment, then you'll STILL be using your Chromebook in 2028 unless it breaks, or its storage capacity can't be upgraded. Tablets still exist because their screens are bigger than our phones, and it makes it more fun to watch a movie, or play a mobile game on them than in a tiny screen. So buy either of these with confidence. Good review!

      Hi, between these two and the Lenovo Duet 3 (W10/8/256gb), which would you think is the best buy for a compact tablet? I already have a Ryzen 5 laptop but want a more mobile device working around the house while managing the kids. Never used ChromeOS but open to it. Thank you.

    • @amsatt
      @amsatt  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      in a long run, your battery will degrade. But most importantly is not to allow the battery to drop to zero and not to charge it to 100%. This is a known fact. This is more important than fast charging with different chargers. Keep your battery level between 20 to 80 percent and your battery will not degrade as fast and you can use it longer. Even with a higher Watt chargers.

    I like your in-depth format which compared the features of the two and included comments on how those features perform in real use. I held out from buying the Duet hoping that the ASUS would address the Lenovo's drawbacks. The CM3 does have a bigger screen and less cramped keyboard (but just barely), but sadly, it has the same processor. I ended up buying a used 2018 HP X2 for $240 instead (was $600 new). It has a 12.3 inch screen and Intel core m3 processor and addresses the drawbacks from these two tablets. Its performance will outlast the Chrome OS support expiration of 2024.

      @@amsatt I don't think you will see much dirt/dust in these devices which slows it down due to heat issues. The only bottleneck will be the slow eMMC storage and the lack of RAM, if newer Chome OS releases will need more of these resources or CPU performance. But in fact of RAM Chrome OS uses zRAM, which is quite helpful. So time will tell...
