      Trivia note: The real life woman who was the inspiration for Mama Coco died last October at the age of 109.
      16:03. For the Gabriel Iglesias scene.
      22:58. There's a saying that basically goes "Everyone dies twice; the 1st is after their heart beats for the last time, & the 2nd is after their name gets said for the last time." It makes you wonder how many of the billions of people who have died have no one left alive who remembers them?

    Fun facts, I read somewhere, I love to point out
    1. “Un Poco Loco” was originally written by Hector as a song for Imelda
    2. Miguel’s resemblance to Hector helped Coco maintain her memories of her father
    3. In the “Remember me” lullaby flashback, the girl who played toddler Coco is none other than Hector’s voice Actor Gael Garcia Bernal’s daughter in real life, which I found even more touching.
    3. Hector’s guitar is a gift given to hector by Imelda. People may wonder why Imelda didn’t suspect anything wrong when Ernesto became famous with the instrument and Hector didn’t, this is because of Imelda’s strict ban on music, she probably disassociated herself from ALL music media to the point she never noticed.
    4. On the way to get Hector’s photo, when Ernesto said “Do I know you?” to Imelda, it makes more sense if you think about it: Ernesto seemed to have familiarity with Imelda, he possibly came into contact with her before he and Hector left Santa Cecilia, makes sense since it’s his former best friend’s wife.

      also if you look at what everyone thought was De La Cruz guitar, there's a gold tooth on it. And Hector has a gold tooth. So that was kind of a hint that Hector was the actual great great grandfather.

  • @justinperez2057
    @justinperez2057 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +44

    As a Mexican, this film and Encanto were both beautiful.
    Also, you can see the differences between Ernesto and Hector’s performances of Remember Me. Hector, as you said, was subtle and full of emotion.
    Ernesto’s performance was loud and bombastic like “Notice me how awesome I am.” It is quite narcissistic.
    Also, from the very beginning, there were hints that Ernesto was a phony. For example, the guitar has a golden tooth which is something that Ernesto does not have. We have been getting foreshadowing since the very beginning.

    • @twist58
      @twist58 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      Coco and Encanto tie in terms of not just being of Latino culture or musically inclined, it’s also the importance of family values and embracing who you are.

    23:59 I realize that Hector didn't want Miguel to sing remember me because Hector made that song for Coco. Also I think since this was when he still thought Miguel was Ernesto's grandson that he probably didn't want him to sing it at all because it would remind him on how Ernesto stole his special song. We eat like kings and we loved her very much. Sadly, we got a phone call from my dad’s relatives and telling us my grandmother had passed away. That was in the year 2003 and I was thirteen. This movie is among those that made me think that maybe Science Fiction and Fantasy movies and shows should be animated and not live-action. They can simply do so much more with the same budget. As difficult as it was to animate the land of the dead here, it would have been a nightmare to do the same with the same impact with live-action.

    Something interesting about when Miguel finally gets his blessing:
    1. It's from Hector, his great great grandfather, who he set out to get it from in the first place.
    2. It didn't have any conditions attached to it. Because THAT'S what familial love is supposed to be. Unconditional. You can't force someone to live your way, because that would kill them in the long run. And here, that's taken literally.

    Looking back on everything Hector said before the reveal, it all makes even more sense:
    His disdain for remember me comes from the fact that a song he wrote for his daughter got turned into a Mexican pop song, and he's all on board with Un Poco Loco because that's actually a song he wrote as a crowd pleaser.
    And also confirmed by the creators it was a song he sang with Imelda when they used to tour.

    This movie is just simply stunning because of the gorgeous animation and it is also such an emotional roller coaster as well 🥹 no matter how many times I’ve seen this movie I always get tears in my eyes 😢 because of the plot itself and the fact it reminds of my family and and then the surprise reveals like Ernesto was the bad guy all along and he is the one poisoned Hector truthfully I did not see that coming and then later on revealed that Hector is the real Great Grandfather of Miquel all along. Also the music gets you also especially the parts of either Miguel or Hector are singing Remember Me to Coco and then she starts singing too both beautiful scenes ❤️❤️ I think it’s so awesome you reacted to this movie again because it’s definitely one of my favourites and can’t wait what you think of the Book of Life 😊😉👍

    Coco realmente es una gran pelicula! And the ending moves me, when Hector is finally able to cross the bridge and is reunited after many years with his daughter Coco
    What I liked most also was that Hector and Miguel, besides to being friends or buddies to the beginning, when they find out that they are family also :D..In addition to surprising me, it also teaches about family love (which goes beyond death), respect for the deceased and in reality one dies when one is forgotten.
    DeLaCruz is one of the worst villains, having murdered Hector to keep their songs (even Remember me, that Hector had written only for Coco), he just wanted to return home to his family, and DeLaCruz made him earn the hatred of his own family by never returning.

    A slightly sadder note about the holiday:
    The day before is called Dia de los Angelinos, for all the children that passed away.
    Story goes that the children were so excited, they ran ahead of the adults and arrived a day early
