Even with this C-Mel I can recognise it's you playing Michael, from all those videos of you playing lots of tenors and mouthpieces from all different eras and countries. A real reminder of how much of the characteristic sound comes from the player, when they're a good one.
I find a lot of inspiration from your work. As an old newbie 2+years on saxophone journey, 71years of age, I have a C, Tenor, Bari. I very much like your "Crazy" I too am working on that have a ways to go. I'm also working on "Ashokan Farewell" found it on my octave mandolin tabs search, learned how to transpose to F so it would fit on my horn. I would love to hear you play it as it's a very good fiddle tune that sounds very nice on horns, I would love to hear what you would do with it. Thanks again for you inspiration.
Hi Sammy, thanks for your warm appreciation. Meyer 8 is a fine mouthpiece, no doubt. If it should be a little more typical for tenor you should perhaps try a Berg Larsen 120/2 or so. I also find the Jumbo Java Vandorens very good mouthpieces concerning the variety of colors you can get out of these. And last but not not least: The Rico Metalites are always worth a try. Hope this is helpful for you. Mike
This solo made me tear up Michael, for all of us there is someone in our lives, that have left for reasons not done intentionally like death, my fathers face came to me when you began to play this piece, it's amazing how music can bring memories to one, your playing is phenomenal so inspiring thank you :)
Beautiful sound! I'd love to buy such a C-Melody...I wonder why they stopped producing them...btw. is it a Lebayle 9 Tenor or Alto mouthpiece? Thx for your reply...
Do you have any of your recordings available? I play C melody, soprano and tenor and I started following you tonight as I discovered you playing the Bari, which I am looking into purchasing one in the next few weeks or so. I was looking for someone that I could model my sound after. I've had this sound in my head for a long time and when I heard you play tonight... I thought, I think thats it... the sound that I've been looking for! So thank you for posting these videos. If you have CD's I would love to know! Beautiful just beautiful! Awesome!
Hi Mike, lots of respects for what u are doing with those horns. I wonder if you can help me with my OPUS Tenor horn to sound like a proper tenor sax. i need to know what mouthpiece or reed will give me the proper tenor sound. I currently have a Meyer medium tip opening 8 metal mouthpiece metal. Your professional response will be highly appreciated Mike. Thanks alot. Sammy.
Very Nice!
I have come back to revist this and find myself no less enamoured - absolutely astonishing
Thanks for your comment. It's been a long time since I played that 🙂

Thank you so much Veronica. That's what music is all about - emotions. And a musician has to be thankful if he reaches peoples minds and hearts.
Música lindíssima! Execução, timbre, sonoridade... igualmente lindos!!

Gute Idee :-)
Wow! That was magical i insanely enjoyed ur playing am a brand new player thinking of Alto? Wht do u think of Tenor or C starters, any luck? Thanks :)
I would go for a tenor - but then I'm mostly a tenor player ;-). IMHO more flexible as the alto. C-Melody occupies more or less only a niche.
Eres la luz y la musica en mi vida.
Gracias Carmen, gracias!

Hi, have already considered it ;-) Type Harlem Nocturne and Vibratosax and you will find it.
A Killer Amazing Grace Version ?
where can i order a Aquilasax C-Melody saxophone???
Afaik they are out of business. But Thomann in Germany still offers C-Melody horns which I believe are nearly the same technically.
Ist ein Tenormundstück
.... wundern derf se niemand, daß i woan ...
HI would you consider Harlem nocturne Thanks......TJ
