Their DisplayPort 1.4 uses DSC (Display Stream Compression) the HDMI port does not, otherwise DisplayPort caps out at about 175 Hz @8-bit with 3440x1440. Therefore, to experience 240Hz with no compression and it's latency you can only use HDMI. 2.1. Uncompressed bandwidth 3440x1440, 240Hz @ 10-bit is about 43 Gbps 3440x1440, 240Hz @ 8-bit is about 36 Gbps DisplayPort 1.4 (max 25.92Gbps) : 3440x1440, 175 @ 8-bit is about 26 Gbps
3080 on HDMI 2.1 (included cable) I'm getting full 10- bit hdr 240hz no DSC. People wish it was 4k, but I don't think even the 4090 could handle 4k/240hz.
@@DJaquithFL Yes, no disputes here. Just confirming you will get the full uncompressed bandwidth over HDMI 2.1 on this model and emphasizing 4k/240hz is a pipedream at this point as far as bandwidth. Thanks for presenting the relevant data.
The high refresh rate at 240Hz makes real difference in gaming experience - when the frame rate is more than 200 FPS (at best when 300 fps or more), the gameplay smoothness is way beyond of some 144Hz. Of course that is if your perception are able to handle that many information or frames at same time.
Yes I agree, been using a Samsung G9 for roughly 3 years but you really need to utilise all that refresh rate, at 150fps from the GPU and 240hz screen yeah youll see 0 difference from 144/240hz because the GPU isnt sending all that information, at 240hz with my GPU cranking out 275 its hypnotisingly smooth the gameplay racing
Hello my friend! Do you think this one monitor is enough for simracing? Now i am having triple 32 full hd, should i go for one lg 45 oled? Thank you very much!
Can you set three of these up as a triple monitor setup, or would that be too much of a resource drag for something like a 4080 or 4090 (at, say 140 hertz)?
I ran through a Sceptre 40" nebula 2560x1440 , Innocn 40" 3440x1440 , Samsung G9 32x9 (was disappointed and returned it) , and now an LG C2 42" which is where I stayed. I love it...OLED is really what its said to be. the Nebula 40" Nebula is whats currently on my rig. Like it...but not happy as I want. Might get a 48" C2 for the rig. I prefer 21x9 if large enough or 16x9 for sim racing. The current 32x9 panel sizes are just not big enough for me...as you said Will the loss in height just take way to much from the immersion for me.
Hi will. I’m really struggling with the decision of a monitor. I think I’ve got it down to either a 49 inch ultrawide or maybe the LG ultragear 45. If you were about to press the purchase button on either. Which one would you choose? My primary use is ACC but also play AC, Beam, and ETS 2. I’ve watched every review video I could find and I just need to make a decision lol. Pls help
I have a 49" 5120x1440 Samsung monitor. I am getting some stretching at the ends of the screen that I can't get cleared up. I have checked everything in Iracing and windows. It's not terrible but noticeable. The resolution is right everywhere.
Will, get video! If trying to run triples of this monitor, would I even benefit from the specs on this monitor with the below system specs? I am concerned that the computer would not get the most these monitors. hiya, i've just brought this screen thanks to your review, I have a question for AC and ACC . what FOV do you have as I am struggling to find a good setting for real feel of the car, for example on AC, i turn in and doesnt feel like its turning in like it does when was on the TV 16:9.
I found the exact same result. I have equal pace on my xbox at 60hz compared to my pc at 360hz. The higher hz only helps with immersion and very slightly with catching slides if you go over the limit. My opinion is that 165hz monitors are the sweet spot, given how cheap some of them are now.
I can see sim racing being different than something like an FPS in that regard. FPSs benefit a lot from higher refresh rates, because of twitch reaction time and pixel accuracy. Sim racing is more of a "flow." You learn the track and learn where the reactions are going to happen, so you condition yourself to a pace. Even going down to 30fps might not impact that pace so much as it's not necessarily twitch reaction times that you're using. There are twitch reactions, sure, like catching a skid, but many of them get input from other places, such as sound or force feedback and the interaction is more intuitive and natural (if you're already familiar with driving real cars). There are instances, like avoiding a wreck, that seem like maybe they'd benefit from higher response rates, but I think these things still happen more slowly enough compared to the reaction moments in an FPS that the benefit is negligible. Personally, I think 120Hz is a sweet spot, but I made that determination years ago. If 165Hz is cheap, now, then that's the new sweet spot. I have a 144Hz monitor and I run most games at 120Hz because I like it better when the game runs consistently at 120Hz then jumping around as I can't play most games locked at 144Hz. On games I can lock at 144, I can barely tell the difference between 144 and 120. I can if I pay close attention, but it's not worth the inconsistent frame times. The only time I can feel a clear and definite difference between 120 and 144 is in VR. anything less than 120 is an absolute no for me in VR, now. 90Hz makes me nauseous in about 10-15 min, but I can do 120Hz for about 2-3 hours before getting woozy. I have no idea how long I could play at 144; I never play for more than a couple hours at a time and it's never caused me any nausea. Only simple games like Compound can run at 144Hz.
@@cozymonk Agreed. I got this high refresh rate monitor for FPS games specifically, and it definitely helps there. Racing games it doesnt help pace, because hooking up a good lap is all about timing of your inputs, which you can see coming as you approach a corner. Only helps in the specific other situations that you pointed out.
As always, great review! Samsung released a 57" 1000R 32:9 that is also very insteresting. It would be great, even if Samsung doesn't ask you to review such monitor, to see how they compare. The 57" might be wide and tall enough to be the ideal screen. Also I have a triple 1000R 32" screen setup and I have to say I'm not so happy about how triple curved monitors are handled by Sim apps. The screen setup works for flat screens while developers should add a curved triple setup as well, because where the side screens curved join you have a way less engle coming from the center screen. The angle is performed by the curvature and not the joining angle alone. If you setup the right engle between curved screens you get a very narrow visual at the sides, if you insert the right overall angle you get a bad transition from the center screen.
@@22Uzbekistan I think just like on the 47'' that would be one of those cases where as a german I would ask my polish friend what the prices are over there, as it would be way chesper, even with postage included. ( We checked with the 47, just for shits snd giggles and the price difference was anout 600 to 900 euros.) If he wants to buy Smartphones though, he asks me for the german price, as they are cheaper.

Brilliant Monitor, there! I'd need this one for my racing rig as well.. but I'm wondering if running this on my laptop would force me to lower down some in game grafics details due to the higher native resolution this device comes with, compared to the one of my laptop which is 1080p...
Yes. You'd struggle to run a game on this monitor from your laptop if your laptop was designed for 1080p. Once you increase resolution, you'll need to think about how you'll manage to run a game for that res. My general rule of thumb is to invest in the rig (PC) first, then the monitor.
I'm also approaching 40 but am super sensitive to the difference in 144hz and 240. I have a Samsung g9 at both my Office /gaming desk and my sim rig. Due to Displayport limitations it blue screens my computer if both get turned on at 240hz. I tried at first running my sim rig in 120hz mode so i could have them both on but hated it. Perhaps its all my years of FPS gaming. Hell back in the 90's I was running high refresh rates in Counter-Strike on CRTs.
I bought 3 of these LG 45's for my sim but I can only get 2 to work. The 3rd won't communicate with my PC (new 14th gen I9 with 4090 card). Anyone know how to fix this? It must be a different setting I'm not aware of.
Think that 240hz would be more noticeable on a larger screen. Got the Benq 120hz projector on 110 inch screen and have been thinking about getting the newer model that supports 240hz.
I understand LG will bring this monitor out in a true 4K, 2160 perhaps in a larger size. This would have many advantages over the Samsung G9 49", which again isn't a 4K monitor. If you're like me, you just can't go back from 4K.
THe tech trickles down over time to more affordable stuff. Remember when we first got our triple 65 inch 4K monitors they were $10K AUD EACH! Now you can get better panels for less than half that.
I personally own the Corsair Flex which is the same essential technology and to me the 800R is the perfect curvature, but I too can make my screen flat. My three complaints are no DisplayPort 2.x, PPI is clearly noticeably low in comparison to its counterpart that I also own the 175Hz Alienware 34-in OLED and lastly, ideally I'd like to have seen an Nvidia Ultra version. However, clearly even the RTX 40 series lacks DisplayPort 2.x which completely blows my mind because both my RTX 3090 and RTX 4090 can easily saturate DisplayPort 1.4. Ideally we're all heading towards 1kHz 5K-8K wide ratio, large screens and the technology is certainly available at least from monitors. It may take another one or two generations to drive them at high refresh rates. However, monitors out last GPUs by at least two generations if not three or four. I play FPS games and I need the responsiveness. CPU-Z JJU8GT CPU-Z 9MM3CZ
i'm 41. i can tell the difference between 60 , 144, 240 hz monitors in CSGO , CS2. i'll know after a couple of seconds. Mind you i have been playing counterstrike for 20 years. In Simracing i can notice a difference between 60 and 144 hz but i didn't notice any difference on 240 hz. i would focus on a good GPU which keeps your fps above your refresh rate. don't use vertical sync , it causes input lag. Also if you have a good monitor you have settings that allow you to combat ghosting/ screentearing if u notice any
i´m rocking the 38GN950 which is 38 inch and 3840x1600 res and 144 (160)hz ips panel. why they make a 45 inch with 3440x1440? PPI is way to low imo... give me that 45 inch with higher res and i´m in.
@@kolysion164 nice for u. still, going up in size with even smaller res is kinda braindead to me, but ye... switched to 49 inch g9 (32:9 with 5120x1440p) and i will never think about buying 21:9 agian^^
Can't wait for later in the year when the Samsung 57" Ultrawide gets released, and hoping Boosted can test one before I ditch my triples in favour of one.
that is also a perfect monitor/tv for a triple setup ! not soo much pixels then 4k, and it has display port input, because the most of gpu has 3 display port
I would love to buy a triple of these but VR is also progressing and the next Pimax Crystal shall be the way to go if you’ve got 4090. Expensive monitors will be a thing of the past in a few years.
I would love to see him review slightly less expensive products more in the mid range. The monitor is cool but you can buy 5 decent monitors for the same price. I'm sure these reviews are for someone but definitely not for me. Keep grinding though.
You can’t really feel the difference in 240 hz unless you play FPS games as Cs Go and similarly ones.. in cs go the biggest difference is not only the smooth imagine flow but it’s also hitting the targets much better .. so 240 hz is mostly not FPS games not those that use G-Sync or Freesync
The ppi though...... I saw one in best buy and oof.... The fuzziness..... I was quite interested in this panel when I saw it announced, until I saw the resolution. I'm sorry, I feel that the ppi for this size is horrible and noticeable, even from a distance. I already have a 34" 3440x1440 and it just stood out and once seen I couldn't unsee it. LG has announced a 39" for ces this year, but I'm waiting on the 2160p versions, I think the 45" might actually be too big for my taste, but a 2160p 39" ..... I did the math and at 5120x2160 that's 134 ppi... Yeah buddy. My panel is still going strong, I can wait until those are released

Is it going to shave second off , no but it will shave a tenth or two and make you more consistent and in the long braking zones from higher speeds it is much easier to brake exactly on the point you need to.
my only issue with this display is the resolution is incredibly low for a 45 inch display. it's a hard sell for me. It is simply too large.
i want this monitor BUT the only problem with it is the Oled . Im not just a gamer , I wanna use it for music production therefore My concern is the burn in screen.
what you guys suggest or think ?
thanks !!
Uncompressed bandwidth
3440x1440, 240Hz @ 10-bit is about 43 Gbps
3440x1440, 240Hz @ 8-bit is about 36 Gbps
DisplayPort 1.4 (max 25.92Gbps) :
3440x1440, 175 @ 8-bit is about 26 Gbps
3080 on HDMI 2.1 (included cable) I'm getting full 10- bit hdr 240hz no DSC. People wish it was 4k, but I don't think even the 4090 could handle 4k/240hz.
@@MissingNumb .. Did you read anything that I said? Why don't you try to reread it.
So. I have a samsung Neo G9 and always want a taller screen because of the FOV. So, what you guys think about switching from the G9 to this one ?
What's the best Fov for this monitor mate just picked it up in I racing?
Hi! Mind sharing what your setup is for surround sound? Do you use a sound bar?
Pls help
I got it for 1000 will pick it up tomorrow. First time owning a monitor and of this size. Have always played on my TV
Intel® Core™ i5-13600KF Processor
NVIDIA GeForce RTX™ 4070 TI TUF Graphics Card
ASUS Z790 Wi-Fi Motherboard DDR5 for Intel 13th Generation Processors
240MM CPU Water Cooler
32GB of DDR5 6000MHz
I don't know whether to go with this or the Samsung Odyssey G9 Neo. I am completely torn between the two

This. G9 is trash
@@IwinMahWay have you used one?
hiya, i've just brought this screen thanks to your review, I have a question for AC and ACC . what FOV do you have as I am struggling to find a good setting for real feel of the car, for example on AC, i turn in and doesnt feel like its turning in like it does when was on the TV 16:9.
Did you configure 12ppc colour in NVIDIA Control panel? It adds much and reduces colour banding. Try it if you have not already.
Yep I did.
@@cozymonk I pretty-much agree with every word you said.
I have no idea how to mount to my TR120. My screws arnt long enough to mount onto rig! Any help?!
Yeah that’s always been my concern with curved triples. Good to have that confirmed. Thanks.
That 57" is not released yet, is it? I have not even seen a price for it.
@@22Uzbekistan It has been announced, there's a page for it but I haven't seen it around yet
It was shown at CES apparently but no further details on pricing or availability.
@@22Uzbekistan I think just like on the 47'' that would be one of those cases where as a german I would ask my polish friend what the prices are over there, as it would be way chesper, even with postage included.
( We checked with the 47, just for shits snd giggles and the price difference was anout 600 to 900 euros.)
If he wants to buy Smartphones though, he asks me for the german price, as they are cheaper.
Great review mate
I have a 45'' LG monitor as you have here, i run a 4070 ti super and on ACC i am having issues finding the best settings to run at, can you please give any advice if you don't mind on how to set it up.
Hey man just wondering if you have a review for the new Track Racer TRX in the works?
Austin Evans did a crazy video where he made a triple screen set up with 3 of these. Imagine combining that with a sim rig...
I think the size makes a ton of sense if you want to maximize immersion and real estate. It's nearly as wide as the 32:9, with less compatibility issues and more vertical space. Feels much more immersive than a narrower, but slightly wider 32:9, in my opinion. The 32:9 monitors look cool, but not as practical as 21:9? Diminishing returns, I guess?
Does it run 4k 120hz smoothly on windows and in gaming ?
Brilliant Monitor, there! I'd need this one for my racing rig as well.. but I'm wondering if running this on my laptop would force me to lower down some in game grafics details due to the higher native resolution this device comes with, compared to the one of my laptop which is 1080p...
Yes. You'd struggle to run a game on this monitor from your laptop if your laptop was designed for 1080p. Once you increase resolution, you'll need to think about how you'll manage to run a game for that res.
My general rule of thumb is to invest in the rig (PC) first, then the monitor.
@@JoeJacksonGT3 Yes, thank you for the informations. I think you're completlely right..! Unfortunately.. 😜😉
beautifully shot video will. stay real man :)
What was your fov in iracing for this monitor
I bought 3 of these LG 45's for my sim but I can only get 2 to work. The 3rd won't communicate with my PC (new 14th gen I9 with 4090 card). Anyone know how to fix this? It must be a different setting I'm not aware of.
Think that 240hz would be more noticeable on a larger screen. Got the Benq 120hz projector on 110 inch screen and have been thinking about getting the newer model that supports 240hz.
excellent as always. Keep it up
Did you try hooking it up on a ps5 and give gt7 a go ?
Flickering whit gsync ?
Hi is this compatible with ps5 because of the Gbps
I understand LG will bring this monitor out in a true 4K, 2160 perhaps in a larger size. This would have many advantages over the Samsung G9 49", which again isn't a 4K monitor. If you're like me, you just can't go back from 4K.
Can this monitor be easily removed from the stand and mounted onto an VESA 8020 rig like Trak Racer? Anyone with this screen done this?
He said the price and my brain turned off I need monitors to drop in price
yea the top of the line stuff gets a bit ridiculous
THe tech trickles down over time to more affordable stuff. Remember when we first got our triple 65 inch 4K monitors they were $10K AUD EACH! Now you can get better panels for less than half that.
My brain didn’t switch off. I really appreciate Wills input and thoughts and enjoy drooling over cars and tech I can’t afford. 👍🏻
Do you really expect leading edge tech to be cheap? C’mon…that’s just being intentionally ignorant.
We need more affordable options.
Dose not look very bright can you increase the brightness
It’s plenty bright enough. I have to run it at about 60%
Is this available in the UK?
Have mine for a few days, love this monitor 👌
I was in trouble to find how found Real Fov with this curve but i will found 😅
I personally own the Corsair Flex which is the same essential technology and to me the 800R is the perfect curvature, but I too can make my screen flat.
I play FPS games and I need the responsiveness.

i'm 41. i can tell the difference between 60 , 144, 240 hz monitors in CSGO , CS2. i'll know after a couple of seconds.
It would be interesting try it out in a Flight Simulation----X-Plane 12 or MSFS 2020....
Weird LG make 49", 41", 27", but no 32" at 240Hz. Samsung does a 32" 4K at 240Hz, though not as an OLED.
As a new sim racer, im surprised people dont talk more about HDR.
HDR can truly change the experience, and if you have an OLED, its night an day
Yeah but you need a 10 bit panel 4:4:4 than you can display some real HDR. Anything under HDR1000 is pure marketing.
Can U Play PS5 On It As Well As PC
What about how it runs ps5 and xbx series x?
And question of Burn-in?
Can't wait for later in the year when the Samsung 57" Ultrawide gets released, and hoping Boosted can test one before I ditch my triples in favour of one.
that is also a perfect monitor/tv for a triple setup ! not soo much pixels then 4k, and it has display port input, because the most of gpu has 3 display port
The old 35" would of been good if it was a 1440p, most likely had 1080p giving you a more zoomed looked at the same size screen
Did u have any burn in problems
Used daily and none so far. I’ve always been very careful to turn it off whenever I walk away though.
Are you still using it was looking at it as I don’t have room for triples just concerned about burn in it will just sim racing
Me - Goes to Big W and spends 900 bucks on a no name brand 85” 4K tv and is stoked
I watched a review of the Neo G9 wow that really popped amazing colours. The LG dose not pop amazing blacks
Why would you test this monitor on a open wheel racing -_-.... Can you try it on a GT car or any car not open wheel
You can’t really feel the difference in 240 hz unless you play FPS games as Cs Go and similarly ones..
in cs go the biggest difference is not only the smooth imagine flow but it’s also hitting the targets much better .. so 240 hz is mostly not FPS games not those that use G-Sync or Freesync
drinking the oled cool aid you can never go back.
I'm not sure that a blind test would be the best solution to try a screen... 😅
Lmao. Blind as in not aware of what the refresh rate is set to. 🤣 I knew someone would call it out. 😝

Why can’t we have a true ultrawide 4K gaming monitor. I been waiting 3 years for a proper 21:9 4 k gaming monitor
Nice looking monitor. I don't need one but I want one.
Same with me. I had both the Alienware 34” and the lg c3 42”, and returned the Alienware. Even at 34”, I found the 1440p to look res compared to the 42”.
Has anybody run this triples for racing sims?
For me 60-144hz you see the difference, 144-240hz is more of a feeling of more smoothness rather than seeing it, you feel it, when playing shooters
Yep. I completely agree.
I agree with you. Had a 60hz Asus gaming monitor and upgraded to 144hz and the change was crazy!
Really would love to see you get the sponsorship to show and review this in Triples

Just.. Be CAREFUL if you use OLED as a main pc monitor. Gaming wise you've no worries, but with DESKTOP use, burn in is VERY important to remember... Taskbar for long extended sessions for example.. I didn't catch if you mentioned this though.
No it wasn’t mentioned but you’re right. One thing I noticed is the screen does a special sequence when powered down to supposedly reduce this.
I’m using a 48” LG C1 since 2 years its on my main PC and i have 0 burn in. Its the same false believe as with plasmas: in normal usage case you don’t need to worry at all. Only extreme tests with 24/7 usages for months have reported it might show burn-in. And mine is working 8hours a day like myself since the pandemic ;)
