    Yes, disconnect the battery and wait for about 10-15 mins. You are working with a explosive charge(the air bag). Other than that good video. Remember safety fist!

      The 1A Auto Parts video, right? They make great videos, but when dude was like, "just rock it forward" and his whole assembly came apart like butter, I was sitting in my car trying to tread the line between forcing it and being paranoid going, "whyyy???!!! It's only a 2012! It shouldn't be this stuck!" So yeah. Thanks @Dullah for explaining that step.

    I was just waiting for that airbag to explode in your face, do not do this everyone! Disconnect the battery and touch the positive terminal to the negative terminal to dump the capacitors and it's a good idea to wait a few minutes after to remove the clock spring. I've seen it happen a few times to guys in my shop and its always a Nissan or Infiniti.

    What to do when one spring is stuck so you can’t remove the steering wheel completely ?

    Hi, why with the car on? I've seen people disconnect the battery first before they start

    • @original__gmebvy
      @original__gmebvy 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Probably because you can’t turn the steering wheel without the steering wheel locking on you. You can only turn it all the way to the left or to the right when the car is fully turned on

    • @iloveemmiable
      @iloveemmiable 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@original__gmebvy You're right that you need the key in/on to turn the wheel but you do not need the battery connected--apparently it's fully mechanical. I have a 2012 Nissan Versa and was able to unlock my wheel and fully rotate with the battery unplugged for >10 minutes and everybody other than this video says you should remove the negative terminal from your battery before attempting this for airbag safety.

  • @jakeflane2218
    @jakeflane2218 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    So, just to be clear, you didn't unplug the car battery? I have unplugged clips in the past with no problem, I am assuming it's just like that for these clips?

    • @iloveemmiable
      @iloveemmiable 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Do unplug the battery. He didn't reply to you here, but he did respond to PJV1201 and said that while it shouldn't go off either way, it's a good precaution. Also, every other video and tutorial on this topic, or removing the steering assembly in general says to do it (see the A1 video, or posts on Nissan Forums, etc., etc.)

    Is their a code to put in? For the airbag

  • @PJV1201
    @PJV1201 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    So, it's safe to do this without disconnecting the battery? I've seen other videos where people were scared stiff of removing the airbag connection because it may go off, even with the battery disconnected. You were working on it with everything switched on so I'm confused! 🤔

    • @DULLAHGOSOHARD
      @DULLAHGOSOHARD  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Once there is a fault with the airbag system the computer automatically disable all of the airbag but i would recommend that you disconnect the battery
