If you ever woke up one day in the world of ice and fire... find Davos. He's the one character in the entire series that could keep you alive and unharmed.
Francesca Heather-Hayes Jon is quite interesting in how you can trust him. Obviously he wasn’t exactly trustworthy when talking about the wildlings as he betrayed them (sort of) but when talking about a dance with Dragons he schemes against Stannis’s back with the help of Aemon to protect Mance Raider’s son. Honestly Davos is the only person you could really just trust, alongside Stannis and Ned.
I swear everytime i read davos chapter i always cant wait which part he talks people into joinig him and stannis. One of stannis greatest feats was getting davos loyalty. He is his ace in the game of thrones.
I agree! Just imagine Stannis sitting on the throne and Davos as the best Hand of the King advising him! Furthermore Stannis always listen to Davos because he knows he always speak truth, holy shit that would be a much better westeros.
When Stannis accused him of treaaon because he saved that boy's life, he replied "Same treason you've commited to Aerys when your brother rebelled against him?" That sort of a man is our Davos
Do you mean in a Storm of Swords when he discusses if the people sworn to Celtigars should be trested like traitors? Stannis says it's every mans duty to remain loyal to the rightful king (Stannis) and Davos blurts out "as you remained loyal to Aerys when Robert rebelled."
What amazes me about his character is that even when he lost his sons, he did not lose himself. Any lesser man would have given in to grief but not him. He remained dutiful and still continues to do the right thing even after all that he has lost.
I'm guessing he's early fifties. At least 40 years on sea, starting at younger than 10. Having a number of sons with at least one around 20. I like this character because he's providing the perfect stannis perspective in the books. (The whole reason this character exists of course). Adding that extra layer of mystery with millesandra in the mix. He's also very much a grey character moral wise and reflects on this frequently which makes him that much more human. Love his chapters.
Wimpiethe3 I agree! But in TWOW, he will finally have his own journey (that I won’t spoil in case), and Asha Greyjoy. Ow provides the Stannis POV. Also *melisandre
He isn’t a grey character at all. He’s written as a good guy. Martin fans are so obsessed with calling every character he writes “grey” that it’s absurd.
@@trevorwilson6683 He describes himself as a bit good and a bit bad to melisandre. Not strange if you consider his background. A truly 'good' character would not have become a smuggler. We could get into the whole 'is it even possible to not be at least somewhat grey debate,' but the fact he describes himself that way validates the statement in my opinion. An example of a one dimensional 'bad' character would I think be joffrey. Because he's basicly a psychopath. In a way its the ultimate grey character depending on the enviroment he's put in. Whatever is the most profitable course of action most calculating psychopaths will take, but joffrey is an unstable one so that would make him more prone to abuse others. And this is the rabbit hole...
Technically Davos rose from being a Common born smugler to Lord and the best friend Stannis ever has in the books, I also like how he is always honest towards Stannis while other Highborn only want to take all of the glory and wealth and eventually descend into madness compared to him.
Davos had come too far with Stannis to play coy now. "Last year they were Robert's men. A moon ago they were Renly's. This morning they are yours. Whose will they be on the morrow?" And Stannis laughed. A sudden gust, rough and full of scorn. "I told you, Melisandre," he said to the red woman, "my Onion Knight tells me the truth." "I see you know him well, Your Grace," the red woman said. "Davos, I have missed you sorely," the king said. "Aye, I have a tail of traitors, your nose does not deceive you. My lords bannermen are inconstant even in their treasons. I need them, but you should know how it sickens me to pardon such as these when I have punished better men for lesser crimes. You have every right to reproach me, Ser Davos."
Davos best Hand of the King ever, even without fingers! xD Just think it for a moment, one street orphan born in the poorest place of all Westeros, becoming Hand of the King, the second in comand of all Westeros for his own achievements as a good adviser, not for being a noble like EVERY other player on this history (besides Varys). Thats one of the things that make me say "Stannis is my only king!".
I really enjoyed this vid, thanks. I find Ser Davos more interesting as the story proceeds. His character is I think more complex than the show was able to portray. His love for his wife and sons for instance. Yet this simple boy from flea bottom holds his own with high lords. I think there may well be some interesting surprises for us before his story ends!
I always got excited in the books when reaching a Davis chapter. He provides an interesting insight as one of the few low born main characters and has tons of great interactions and dialogue. Plus hes just super likable
If i had a choice between watching Dumb&Dumber season 8 again or be severely tortured to death Bolton style, i would run into Ramsays arms crying with joy.
S H Mate, you’ve obviously never come near being tortured lol! I’d take Season 8 and bow and scrape with gratitude if necessary, rather than become the plaything of sicko Bolton! 😂
One of the best characters and on the show only Tyrian can best him in speeches and that’s only early on in the last seasons Davos gave the more compelling monologues
Ooohhh! 🎶 Who delivers the onions across the sea? DAVOS SEAWORTH! A hand to the king who's not so friendly? DAVOS SEAWORTH! His nautical smugglin be somethin ye wish! Especially when, there's just no more fish?! DAVOS SEAWORTH!
smuggle food into the city and save everyones lives and house and then get your fingers cut off? nope. would have gotten alot more out of the deal if he worked for the tyrells in secret and maybe smuggled in poisoned food or wine etc to weaken the garrison even more
The child from Flea Bottom will reach even further. Davos is the embodiement of Lightbringer (He brings the Light against Melisandres Darkness) and will be the King of Westeros.
Rokkfel To me, I think two former King’s who clearly don’t like one another and have differing views on everything and while assisting Jon, build up their own power base once more, is a much better dynamic then two former second in command of Kings who enjoy following a better leader.
Diego Rodriguez no I get that I really do but I also feel that torment and Davos have a lot to play I mean there’s a reason they’re the seconds to their leaders I mean I can see davos being of a semi advisor to Jon (if he even gets resurrected) and well.....Tormund is Tormund not much different from the show except he’s more blond then Ginger
The Talisman Yeah. That would make sense. If Melisandre tells Devan or the Queen to do something, odds are they’ll do it. I don’t think the Wildlings will be coming to Jon’s rescue, seeing as how they’re “leader” at the time in Tormund is at Hardhome and unless Mance is a teleporter, there’s really no one that can lead whatever is left of the Wildlings on the South of the Wall.
The Talisman I think Rickon will be playing a much more important role in the books then he did in the show. If GRRM hadn’t already confirmed there would be no new POV’s, I would’ve bet money Rickon becomes one in TWOW
To be honest I don’t really rate Bronn much in the books. He just seems what he is - fighter for hire, though a quick witted one to be fair. I didn’t think he was anything like the sexy Jerome Flynn version on the show lol!
@@tzaph67 I havent watch the show after the season two and that was like 2013 so I cant really remember but I think that Bronn is like an open book so far, very honest. Don’t get on his ship at the Blackwater though, in fact just don’t go to the Blackwater.
Also he probably wouldn't do anything unethical while keeping you alive.
I’d like to find him and maybe hang out w Tyrion
Unless your last name is "Baratheon" or "Targaryen".
Nah if I was in the World of Ice and Fire I would squire for Jaime Lannister.
Davos is deadass one of the most under appreciated characters of all time. Love this man. LOVE HIM
Easily my favorite character.
The onion knight is the only person you could trust in the world.
Manuel Moreno not even Jon Snow? (I do trust the Onion Knight, but I trust Jon Snow too - and probably Maester Aemon too come to think of it!)

Possibly my favourite crossover ever! Jesus I can't wait for Elden Ring.

@Vice TOLUCT I mean they do have some similairites.
Dark Soul's Onion Knight is most likely to be a reference to Shakespeare's Falstaff.
