Between Cromwell and the Victorians, a lot of the original structures across the UK were either rendered useless, or redesigned in the 19th Century. (Not to mention Goering!) Yes, It was a spur of the moment thing so I was using my phone to video (Hence not knowing where to look) and as you rightly point out I was inappropriately shod. There's nothing like a bit of planning eh? - that'll learn me :)
