I've been a professional photographer since the 1980s. Shot with lots of cameras, brands, models, etc. Settled on Canon in 1987 when they came out with the EOS system and blew everyone else out of the water. They also beat everyone to High Speed Sync, which for me was great because I shoot people--gr. seniors, models, portraits, headshots, etc. I like the M-50 for a street photography camera, and travel camera, it's excellent for that. I've never been a fan of the rangefinder mentality, where like the Fuji F100V you only get the lens that's attached to it. I find that way too limiting. I don't shoot video so I could care less about video capabilities of a 35mm camera. I've seen award winning photos come from the M-50 in the right hands. It's a great camera. I just bought the R7 yesterday, and have been playing with it. I mostly shoot full frame but occasionally it's nice to have the extended reach that a crop sensor gives you. I also got the 18-150 kit lens with it. I've shot it outside, in my studio, house, etc. with the kit lens and the images are tack sharp. So far, for what it's designed for, I like it. I don't shot birds, sports, or wildlife but for those that do it would have been nice if Canon had made provisions for a battery pack to balance the heavier lenses. Kind of a major flaw but from a still image standpoint it's freaking awesome. Finally, is the M-50 a pro camera? I shoot it, as do many pros that I know, so to me in the hands of a pro it's a pro camera.
Yeah, gear to me isn't inherently pro or not pro, with very few exceptions. There is gear that is used by far more often by pros than hobbyists but that's as far as you can really take it. One of the first cameras I used a lot to take pics that ended up in brochures and other commercial materials was an Olympus Mju or however they write the name of it, yes - I mean that tiny 35mm film camera that came out in 1991. I wouldn't call that a Pro camera really, but technically it can be, and not a bad one either.
Uow, I was wondering if it was possible to make a video that talks about accessories, capabilities and make comparisons of m50 in just one video, and this men just did it!
I have been avoiding the purchase of a camera for my TH-cam videos and suffering through a webcam for the past couple of years. I watched several of your videos this week, which gave me the confidence to go ahead and purchase the M50 Mark II. The camera arrived in 48 hours, and I could use it immediately. My first thumbnail photo was with the remote app. I'm going to have fun now!
I've had a brand new Canon M50 for about 3 years and I've done nothing with it. I want to start using it but I'm intimidated. After your video I've decided to keep it and try! Thank you for keeping it simply. Great video😊
@@30secondsbehind80 Yes..depending on what you're shooting of course but in my opinion, battery power consumes quickly. The "dummy" battery explained is invaluable and one of the best purchases you can make..cheers!
I’ve been using my M50 for years already. Your video made me realize that there’s a “hole” on the battery compartment (which can be opened). Thank you so much!
I have all the canon EF-M lenses and 18-150mm f/3.5-6.3 is my favorite for lense for exploring. It’s so versatile. Wide enough for landscapes and can zoom in for great closeups on people.
Man thats a lot of good info in a short vid. I am beginner photographer but I love the M50 MKII and it delivers amazing photos. I just wish I knew more about the camera itself and all the feautures. I have discovered the night mode and thats so fun but im sure there is so much more to learn about it.
I'm saving up for that Sigma lens. Right now my main wide-mid range is the Sigma 17-50 f2.8, which does good but I still want wider and faster. I recently dusted off the nifty fifty and I forgot how much background separation I get off an f1.8 and how much fun it is, so that 10-35mm is next in my basket for my R7.
@@FulaanCreative It is, I only picked it up because I got it for cheap on auction...$300(can). But I still want to get myself better glass. So far half my lens inventory are purchased this way.
“whoops that didn’t work” had me dead 😂 Great video, I am now today years old learning about the dummy battery, that would have been a lifesaver on a lot of weddings lol but now I know thanks to you
I mean, this camera was designed more for run-and-gun and vloggers. It's a great photography camera though too. Also, I've never really gotten the, "Canon doesn't make lenses in the mount" thing because adapted EF lenses worked perfectly for me. Just adapt!
Yes adapted lenses are great so not a huge issue there. I think some people want to keep it as light and small as possible so they don't want to have to attach the adapter but the thing hardly weighs anything so yeah, I totally agree with you.
How can I buy something for you please.... and I have a little questions..... what do I need to do to use your LUTs???.... like what settings on my Canon m6 Mark ii?
Sony ZV1 vs Canon M50 i vs G7x ii? Which would be better in each question? 1 - record explanatory videos for TH-cam, I'm a doctor. 2 - photos on Instagram. 3 - travel vlogs. Which would be best covering the 3 questions? Thanks for the video!
Thanks! It's just the standard 4k export settings in Davinci resolve. It's most likely the lighting that's making it look nice. I was using a $130 Godox Sl60w to light this video. The monitor and lamp in the background also help make it look nice.
Eh, you got footage of the wrong Viltrox adapter, I saw it and went WUT?! and had to dig mine up to verify. The one for the EOS M series doesn't look like that and says 'MOUNT ADAPTER EF - EOS M' on the side. It's also not a straight cylinder shape, but necked in towards the camera end.
Awesome video! Thanks so much. Now I can upgrade from a Rebel T5 to an M50 mark II. I was looking an R50 and changing to Nikon Z50 but I’m on a budget. 😅
I think I’m gonna sell my m50 and some other stuff .. m50 Camera with 18-150 3.5-6.5 is stm (400 dollar lense ) And 22mm f2 stm (250 dollar lense ) With 2 canon batteries (120 dollar value) For 900, Lmk. Looking to change setup . I didn’t use it a lot either. It’s in excellent condition
great video! very informative. overall do you recommend this camera for vlogging & regular set up? i’m a beginner & im purchasing my first camera but i also want to get a good one so i don’t have to buy another for a while. if you don’t recommend this camera, which one if so?
Thanks! I totally recommend this camera for content creation. Especially for beginners and people on a budget. The other camera that is good in this price range is the Sony zv-e10. It has a few more features than the m50 but the m50 is much more user friendly which is very important when you are first starting out. If you have a slightly higher budget then the new EOS r10 is also a good beginner camera with better features than the M50.
@@FulaanCreative i was thinking of getting the eos r10 but it hasn’t released and i want to get a camera. i was looking into either the canon m50, or (m2), the Canon powerShot G7 X mark III, or the sony zv-e10. Since i am a beginner, what’s your best bet on which one i should get out of the 3? it is so hard to decided lol
Don't get Sigma 18-35 for this camera. Get the Canon 18-135mm IS USM lens. It has a good zoom range as well as wide angle and produces fantastic images. No to mention the lens has 4 stops imagen stabilization
If anyone wants to buy a perfect like new condition m50 Camera with 18-150 3.5-6.5 is stm (400 dollar lense ) And 22mm f2 stm (250 dollar lense ) With 2 canon batteries (120 dollar value) For 900 Never had one issue with the camera and took care of it well, always in a case and in good Dry weather
2 things I wish I knew before buying the M50. They would end up releasing the mark 2 like a month after I bought it. And then Sony would slam dunk on the entire industry and release the ZV-E10 like a year later. Oof. Still the cheapest camera with eye focus, even if it can't do full eye tracking like the mark 2. Don't regret buying it but bummed I'm not an industry follower enough to have known I could have just waited for the ZV-E10 or at least the mk ii version.
could have been nice to segment the video with timestamps. Seems you were rushing thru the script, take breaths etc =} lovely little video, keep on mate
The last camera I had was a 7D from 2011. Would I notice a difference between this camera and the EOS RP or would either one be a big upgrade? The m50 is $900 for me and the RP $1500.
You would notice a significant difference in higher ISO video. If you don't have to have full frame the new R7 is also a compelling option in many ways.
So I can only record Timelapse for 30min? And how is this camera shooting car events like track days both video and stills. I would imagine photos of stills would be amazing in the right light. Thanks. Someone’s selling one for 200. Like new in my Nhood. I’m a Nikon guy but been thinking about trying a canon.
Hi. Is this good for museums and archives: not too heavy, quick shooting, trying to get as many photographs as possible, low light environment? Also, some of the selected images (RAW, JPEG or both?) can be eventually printed in a publication. Thank you.
Thanks for visiting the comments section guys! After leaving a comment you can check out this playlist for more content! th-cam.com/video/mQ1-IIh_h60/w-d-xo.html
I might be too late but hows the color grading on the M50? I havent explore videography as I mainly do photos but I think the M50 dont have logs? Unlike the A6000s of sony that has slogs. Fromt what I know, they are better to be color graded.
You are right there is no log profile for the M50 however s-log in those older Sony cameras isn't very usable due to the 8-bit color depth. It's still nice to have though
Hi, for Canon theres no need to edit the photos compared to ZV E10 right? Im into product photography and dont want to put extra work editing photos to get a sharp and great images. Thank you in advance.
Oh yeah didn’t even think about that, the changing of the battery during production and having that battery door blocked by the gimbal plate. Noted! Thanks. What frame rate was used in this video? And also 1080 or 4k?
Fulaan! Love your content man. I’m about to gear up my M50 and with a Sigma 16mm lens and with the adapter!! But question ….. What camera did you shout this video with?? And what what lens did you use ?? Looks great. 🔥👌🏾

Fulaan what is your taught on Canon R7? After M50 and M6 mk2 it will be my next purchase hopefully very soon and Im looking forward to use it, it looks promissing and also it doesnt have that 30 min record limit...
Yes it looks good. İ am waiting until both the r10 and the r7 come out to just check the footage, make sure there is not excessive noise in the shadows and check if the İBİS has wobbles or not. Once i do that then I'll decide between r10 or r7.
2 ปีที่แล้ว
@@FulaanCreative I think R7 would work better for you. R10 seems kind of entry level camera and you have more skills to use.
Love your content. May I ask your help? Recently retired and received some horrible health news. Take solace in photography but I want to up my novice skill. Love both street and landscape. Thinking of getting the Canon M50 with the 32 mm/f1.4 to cover street and low light. What would you recommend to cover landscape? Really appreciate you and totally open to suggestions. Thank you🫶🏻
Thanks! The Canon 22m f2 is a bit wider than the 32mm although the 32mm is a better lens. If you want something wider than that you could grab an adapter and use the EF-S 10-18 mm f4.5. It's relatively cheap and pretty sharp. Not the best aperture though
Have you had that problem where the M50 goes completely dead, and you must remove the battery, lens, and SD card and allow it to sit overnight before the camera comes back to life? It's become such a deal breaker that I've basically retired the M50 and want to sell it. I usually shoot interviews with 3 cameras, currently the M6II, 90D, and R10.
@@FulaanCreative After looking into it, it's a somewhat common problem among certain Canon models - I've found a few videos addressing the problem. The only solution is to allow the camera to completely power down.m
thanks for the recommendations bro! I just got the canon M50 so I'm excited to start using it - I'll definitely be picking up a dummy charger! p.s. I don't think either of your video recommendations are showing at the end - not sure if you are able to add them in
Thanks man! I appreciate that. Yeah unfortunately the video recommendations don't show up on Iphones for some reason. Let me know if that's the case or if they are not showing up and your using android. Thanks again!
@@FulaanCreative hey dude I'm sorry. I only just realised that I wasn't seeing the recommended videos because I'm using an extension called 'Unhooked' which blocks it. I've turned that option off now and I can see it 👌

I want to save size and weight. I'm happy with it. The main attraction is the viewfinder, the Mike Jack and the articulating screen. Cheers.

“whoops that didn’t work” had me dead 😂 Great video, I am now today years old learning about the dummy battery, that would have been a lifesaver on a lot of weddings lol but now I know thanks to you
Haha! Thanks Man! I appreciate it.
I learned A LOT about M50 and then some. Great video, man.
Thanks Tomas. I appreciate the kind comment.
You're good. Thanks. Just got my M50.
Thanks! Great to hear that.
Very helpful, thank you! I’m getting one of these Canons soon
Nice! Great cameras for sure.
Ya..I like this guy..purchasing the dummy battery some time ago was a life saver🤘
Thanks!
Simple, concise, informative, awesome!
Thanks Dude!
Thank you for these tips. I didn't even know I needed them. Definitely going to grab that dummy battery. That's almost a must-have

How can I buy something for you please.... and I have a little questions..... what do I need to do to use your LUTs???.... like what settings on my Canon m6 Mark ii?
Best review out there!!!!

I'd go for the New Canon R50. It's an interchangeable lens camera meant to replace the M50
Bro your video quality is top notch, please share your export settings
Thanks! It's just the standard 4k export settings in Davinci resolve. It's most likely the lighting that's making it look nice. I was using a $130 Godox Sl60w to light this video. The monitor and lamp in the background also help make it look nice.
@@FulaanCreative thank you bro, and what body and lense are you using?

It's a great camera for the price.
Another amazing and resourceful delivery Fulaan. Awesome and great works, please keep up the great work.
Much appreciated!
bought the dummy battery. thank you
You are welcome
Thx for the video. I like your style.
I appreciate it
Eh, you got footage of the wrong Viltrox adapter, I saw it and went WUT?! and had to dig mine up to verify. The one for the EOS M series doesn't look like that and says 'MOUNT ADAPTER EF - EOS M' on the side. It's also not a straight cylinder shape, but necked in towards the camera end.
Good observation!
Getting ready to buy a used M50 and your video was incredibly helpful.
Awesome! Glad I could help.
Did you buy the used M50? I just came across one and debating if I should get it….
@@RondasBlog I did not buy it. Bought a new Nikon Z30 instead
@@RidiculousRocketry I hope you like your new camera… just got the RP to start with!!!
One of the things i wish i knew before buying is that it only films 4k in 24fps mode.
It still does 60fps in lower resolution though.
Yeah for real. Still awesome for the price though.
Awesome video! Thanks so much. Now I can upgrade from a Rebel T5 to an M50 mark II. I was looking an R50 and changing to Nikon Z50 but I’m on a budget. 😅

I have the same problem
See the response to Giselle101
@@FulaanCreative i was thinking of getting the eos r10 but it hasn’t released and i want to get a camera. i was looking into either the canon m50, or (m2), the Canon powerShot G7 X mark III, or the sony zv-e10. Since i am a beginner, what’s your best bet on which one i should get out of the 3? it is so hard to decided lol
@@giselle1014 I would wait for the r10, it is supposed to be shipping any day now. If you can't wait then the M50 would be my next choice.
Don't get Sigma 18-35 for this camera. Get the Canon 18-135mm IS USM lens. It has a good zoom range as well as wide angle and produces fantastic images. No to mention the lens has 4 stops imagen stabilization
Interesting. I never used that lens yet. I'll have to check it out if possible.

Never had one issue with the camera and took care of it well, always in a case and in good Dry weather
Great video! Thanks for the info!
Thanks Sonya! Glad it was helpful.
Nah, don't sweat it man. Your not missing out on too much. Almost identical to the Mark II and in my opinion better than the zve-10 overall.
Here is a video where i compare the M50 to zve-10. There's many categories where the M50 wins. th-cam.com/video/6dKlfE-Vt54/w-d-xo.html

So helpful. Thank you.

Great Channel keep up the good work
Thanks Jared. I appreciate that.

Thank you.
For Low Light the Sony ZVE-10 will probably do a little better.

im using m50 with speedbooster and recently i bougth 17-40 usm f stop goes doen 2.8 so happy days
Haha! I know what you mean man. Gotta have that bokehliciousness for sure.
Didn’t see the download for the raw footage cinestyle

Hey man, if you have tried Sony ZV E10, which camera clicks better photos - Sony ZV E10 or Canon M50 Mark ii?
For photography I prefer the M50 due to Canon colors and evf.
Hi, for Canon theres no need to edit the photos compared to ZV E10 right? Im into product photography and dont want to put extra work editing photos to get a sharp and great images. Thank you in advance.
Great video. Can the Drop-In ND be paired with Viltrox Speed-Booster?
Thanks. Unfortunately you can only use one at a time.
Oh yeah didn’t even think about that, the changing of the battery during production and having that battery door blocked by the gimbal plate. Noted! Thanks. What frame rate was used in this video? And also 1080 or 4k?
Glad it was helpful. It was 24 fps. I don't recall if it was 1080 upscaled to 4k when rendering or if it was shot in 4k.
Fulaan! Love your content man. I’m about to gear up my M50 and with a Sigma 16mm lens and with the adapter!!
But question …..
What camera did you shout this video with?? And what what lens did you use ??

Thanks! I appreciate that. I made a video about the camera and lens I used. Here's the vid th-cam.com/video/plX5ck5A9fs/w-d-xo.html
@@FulaanCreative I think R7 would work better for you. R10 seems kind of entry level camera and you have more skills to use.
Amazing use of transitions in your video editing, what program do you use to edit your videos?
Thanks! I use davinci reslove
@@FulaanCreativehey do you use the free or paid version?
can i use this for professional wedding photography?
I think it would do fine as an entry level option.
As a beginner i am thinking of getting a M50 ii. What are your thoughts or what should i start with?
If you have a little extra cash I would grab the R50 instead.
How 18-35mm works with speedbooster for photography is it usable?
18-35 doesn't work with speed booster as it's an APS-C Lens. The speed booster is for full frame lenses.
@@FulaanCreative did you try? i heard it works
Tnx for the headsup! 👌❤️🇵🇭
No prob!
Great comments. Thanks. I have an EOS M50. What long lens would you recommend? Something for wildlife, etc. TIA
Thanks! I really like the EF-s 55-250. Amazing value for money. You'll need an adapter to use it on the M50.
@@FulaanCreative thanks.
Is Canon M50 good for moving objects?
I never had any problem with moving subject on the M50. So I would say it's not top of the line but works great for pretty much 99% of scenarios.
I've never encountered that. Sounds like it's malfunctioning to me.
@@FulaanCreative After looking into it, it's a somewhat common problem among certain Canon models - I've found a few videos addressing the problem. The only solution is to allow the camera to completely power down.m
Do you prefer this or a Lumix?
I prefer my S5II but that's a whole different price category of camera.
Hi does this camera fit with sigma 170-500
Hello. If it is an Ef or EF-S Lens then yes it will fit but you will need the commlite adapter.
That Uludag mineral water
I know... I'm addicted. I go through a 6 pack per day. Good stuff!
Would I need a mount adapter if I’m using the canon EF-M 15-45mm f/3.5-6.3 STM zoom lens on my canon m50?
No you wouldn't need an adapter for that or any other ef-m lens.
which one is better, M50 or 200D?
I prefer the M50
Hello question what camera do you really recommend to get! Thanks
If budget is a concern i like the M50, and r10. If budget isn't a big factor the R7 seems like a good move.
Thank you
You are welcome Raymond.
