I'm happy that you gave the game a second shot and didn't let the assholes get under your skin.
The food bonus stats are going to be really helpful and watch the skills that the meals will give you. Some make sharpening faster, others make it so when you faint it doesn't count towards your faint counter.
The chef's choice meal will be the one with the freshest ingredients that will max out your health but because of this you can only eat it once per hunt.
The clutch claw will help you with getting faster times because you can weaken monster parts so you do more damage to them but you need to make sure that the monster won't attack at all during the animation or you'll be flung off and take damage. However weapons are split into two categories where some are called 'light' and others 'heavy' the only difference being that for a heavy weapon, you will weaken the monster parts on the first clutch claw attack that you do. 'Light' weapons will knock off some slinger ammo the first time you try and weaken a part.
With the insect glaive if you want to sacrifice your slinger ammo you can buff your kinsect to either gather two extracts at a time or make it so they do more damage depending on what kind of ammo you have. I don't know which does what as I don't play the insect glaive.
I'm sorry if I'm just repeating what other people are saying as I don't aim to be condescending with this I just want to help you a little bit with having a better time with the game so if I didn't explain anything that you didn't already know I hope you'll accept my apologies.
But I hope that the game gets better for you and that you don't play the game solely out of spite towards the nay-sayers. But good luck and happy hunting. Maybe we'll see each other on the hunt sometime.

I recall the game stressing you get all 3 extract but I don't remember if it goes over why, ffor having all 3 they last longer so you need to do it less, and it gives you minor boosts to earplugs, tremor, and wind pressure resistance, this gets pretty strong later on when you get a skill called flinch free that combos with this innate weapon buff. Also when you do a quest that makes you fight more than 1 monster, they do have less health, and another thing monsters have hp ranges, not every Great Jagrass has the same amount of health and even size

To answer your question on the story monsters being harder no they aren't it's just because that investigation required you to kill 2 monster instead of one therefore decreasing the hp of them both nice feature right? Love the content from you and love monster hunter even more it's an interesting community in the fact that most are elitest in their thinking and if you're not playing the game for speed then why play it at all? When folks say. "You're not going to handle this because of defender gear" etc. People aren't explaining themselves correctly I feel. The idea is that defender gear is intended to carry folks to the expansion. So if you as a new player let yourself get carried with the gear without exploring the mechanics and what truly makes the loop tick, its always likely a new player will struggle as they reach the master rank level of the game which comes from the expansion. As master rank is a much steeper difficulty than between low rank to high rank. I do wonder if the guy who said "Barroth" actually meant "Barioth" who is kinda the first "noob killer" of Iceborne, the expansion. For anyone who was trying to be elitist, that by no means represents the Monster Hunter community. I've known the community in being very helpful to newcomers. I suppose comparing Monster Hunter to Dauntless probably rubbed off the wrong way to some as Monster Hunter was the OG for the sub genre for a very long time. Anyways, cool to see folks exploring the mechanics of the game and enjoying it for what it offers.

      @AnAverageJho 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Both Barroth and Barioth are noob killers tbh. Barroth is probably one of the most consistent walls for players since he was introduced. The thing with him is that he moves quite a bit, he has two "states" which forces you change your strategy depending on if he is muddy or not, and he is the first monster that actually hits hard.
Barioth is also a wall, but for mostly different reasons. While Barioth also moves a lot, you actually have to break his arm spikes before you can trully fight him. Unlike Barroth, which doesn't really require a special strategy besides "don't get hit," Barioth requires a whole lot more patience.

Rushing the game as new player with the defender set made them face tanking everything without thinking mechanically like dodging, which is a big problem in iceborne where the monsters move faster and hit harder especially if you play coop you just drag your team down in the end. I feel this is the exact same people that complain on reddit about how iceborne is too hard etc etc and complaining about bad design and mechanics , unfair and unfun monstera too fast blah blah blah those exaggerating statement, while for me the only "badly designed" monster is only master rank kushala thanks to no counter play and just straight up annoyance whatsoever. It's good to see you giving it another chance, and it's definitely cool to me because the algorithm did indeed feed me your first video on this, so getting to immediately see the transition rather than waiting for it was really cool.
That being said, a couple of things...
I'm pretty sure that bloke meant spend an hour or two experimenting with the weapons, not two hours for each weapon. He also recommended looking up quick guides and rundowns. This may seem like illogical advice to you, but it's common in Monster Hunter and here's why: every weapon feels drastically different from the one before it. There are complicated mechanics to a lot of them that straight-up aren't explained in the training room, and usually can't be gleaned from hands on experience. Bloke was just trying to look out for you and help you find a weapon that excited you enough to want to learn in a way that saves you time. If you're more boots on the ground, so be it, but understand where this advice is coming from.
Secondly, you want want to familiarize yourself with HeyJay and his experience getting into Monster Hunter. He wasn't really into the series either and his first video was a semi-scathing review about Rise and why he's just not into it. It didn't come off as judgmental though, and was more 'this is not for me'. Your video, whether your intention or not, had a serious air of dismissing everything you encountered and just not taking it seriously. I think if the community reacted differently to you than him, you might want to ask yourself why. I'm not saying you did anything wrong but I'm saying maybe you can reflect on your presentation going forward.
That being said, the critiques about your actual playing weren't justified. You're right about that.
Hell, I played this game once all the way through and still wasn't good. I switched main weapons and did a second playthrough, and didn't start learning the most important mechanics of my weapon until halfway through the DLC. Most of us have similar stories of not 'getting' the game or our weapon for a while, and I think the community needs to keep that in perspective.
Anyway, try not to let the negativity give you a bad impression of the community. We definitely have our toxic players, but for the most part we just want to see more people fall in love with this series. I think you'll find if you continue to approach this game with an open-mind you'll be met with a lot of support, encouragement, and tips.
Hope you end up digging it.

I think most of the negative reaction also came from your attitude towards the game. Its hard to know this as a modern new MHW player, but most of the equipment you were using early on in the game wasn't introduced until iceborn was released. Its equipment that almost matches end game stats, making the game much easier and less grindy so that new players could breeze through the main game and into iceborn. Those who played the game without that later introduced equipment had a much more challenging experience and a bigger grind to get the abilities and stats the defender sets already give you from the get go.

If you're annoyed by monsters running when they're low health, that's actually a mechanic and not a problem. If you bring traps and tranquilizers you can capture the monster for bonus rewards and the ability to fight it again in a controlled environment

    • @ulqui2ndblacki
      @ulqui2ndblacki 3 ปีที่แล้ว +23

Actually there is also a really skillfull mechanic involved into that. So when you do a clutch claw attack or a series of powerful attacks to a monster they will drop read it green ammo for your slinger. This ammo is guaranteed to stun them even if they are moving away. What I really enjoy doing is the run against time to grab any leftover ammo as soon as the monster limps away, put a shock trap beneath it and capture it with tranq bombs. Or alternatively go for the kill on the spot, however, they will move away again after a couple attacks.

There are hunts refered to as huntathons that have more then one target monster. Sometimes up to five monsters. The more monsters, the smaller health pool they tend to have. There is also a food skill you can get when you eat at the canteen called weakener that will have a chance to make the monsters weaker. Also when ever you start the mission there is a background mechanic that will set the health pool within a certain range so naturally fights may seem easier or harder then previous hunts. • @TheManWithNoHands

Hey, just a clarification on how Felyne Weakener works as far as I remember: Monsters have a range set for their health pool (don't remember specifics but let's say +/- 10%). For example if Anjanath has 4500 health he can spawn with anywhere from 4050 (90%) to 4950 (110%) health. Weakener defaults anything above 100% down to 100%. So if RNG rolls Anjanath at 4750 health, he instead has his base 4500.
There are also unseen quest modifiers on damage hunter's deal on investigations that I think ranges +/- 10% as well.

I was one of that second wave of watchers, and I had nothing against your level of skill in the previous video, it was more the very down attitude you had that I had a problem with. I didn't hit dislike on the video though, and I'm glad you are revisiting it.
MH generally has a terrible introduction, in that there really isn't a good tutorial system, mostly because of how much information there is, and how much needs to be experienced to understand well (Charge Blade guard points for example). Vital information on how to use certain weapons is at best hidden away in the hunter notes for that weapon. Others usually aren't even explained in the game, such as yellow sharpness or lower having a damage penalty if you don't hit in the correct timing window. You didn't even know about extracts in the last video, even though they are almost necessary to use the Insect Glaive.
Regarding defender equipment, yes you would have had a rough time later on if that is what you went through the game with. It makes the early parts of the game where you are supposed to get smacked around a bit until you learn the visual and audio cues for monster attacks and get acclimated to the weapons you are using much shorter, meaning that you miss out on a good portion of that learning. Then when monsters get faster and more aggressive in High rank you won't be prepared at all, and then again at G/Master rank. I've seen this happen plenty of times in 4U. Players cheat in endgame equipment and/or power through the early game with help from late-game randoms, and are effectively useless in hunts because they don't have the experience to actually hunt at that level.

First, about investigations and monster health, their health on expeditions and in investigations can vary higher or lower than their base (and they also scale to 1, 2, and 3/4 players as well). In addition, investigations may also have varying numbers of faints, shorter time limits, and party member restrictions as well. But as a reward, you generally will get better materials (indicated by the bronze, silver, and gold boxes when looking at it). If you can’t find an investigation for a particular monster, you can always do an optional quest to get materials from it too. Also, there is no way to guarantee a particular monster in an investigation, they are completely random, but you’ll get more of them from picking up tracks and traces from monsters in the field.
Second, I completely understand the monsters running away being annoying at first, but you’ll come to appreciate it later. There are two ways to complete a hunt: kill or capture. Capturing works sorta like Pokémon, where you need to beat the tar out of the monster in order to weaken it enough to be in a capturable state. The monster will limp when it runs away instead of it’s normal run, that’s your signal that it’s weak enough (or if your research level on the monster is high enough after checking in at ecological research, a small skull icon will appear next to the monster on your map). You can then tranquilize it with tranq bombs (sleep herb + parashroom) and capture it in a shock trap (thunderbug + trap tool from provisions guy = shock trap) or a pitfall trap (spiderweb + ivy = net, net + trap tool = pitfall trap). This will then complete the quest, and some quests are specifically capture quests (that is to say that if you kill the monster you will fail). The reason to do this is that you get more materials in the rewards screen, even if you take the three carves you’d get if you killed the monster into consideration. HOWEVER, keep in mind some materials from some monsters you can only get from carves, and vice versa.
Third, your gameplay is already very good, especially now that you know the power of the red buff (and you’re correct, the red buff is most important, and orange is the least important). Your hunt times are already what I would expect from someone who has played a Monster Hunter game before, so I bet some Dauntless skill is bleeding over. I know it did for me when I came to Dauntless from Monster Hunter. A quick tip for learning any weapon in the game, if you open up your Hunter’s Notes from the menu, you can click on Weapon Controls to see everything your weapon can do, no need for a half hour tutorial on TH-cam if you don’t want to. It explicitly tells you what all the colored buffs do, what kinsect dust is, how to charge your kinsect, and more combos than just when you’re in the training room. Take a quick looks sometime once you’re used to the mechanics you’ve picked up so far! There’s always more to learn in Monster Hunter, for better or worse!
Hope that info dump helped, and feel free to ask any other questions! You really helped me as a Monster Hunter player getting into Dauntless, and I’d love to return the favor if I can!

Oh, and I completely forgot! Poogie is the most important NPC in Monster Hunter (no he doesn’t have to have a function to be important!). He is very picky about how he is pet, though, it’s sorta like a QuickTime event. You have to press the pet button when the big red exclamation mark appears above his head. Between quests, give him a snuggle, and after a few rounds, he’ll be right there with love and affection when you return from a quest every time, win or lose! Also, once he loves you, you can pick him up and carry him around town. Watch for when he starts wiggling in your arms, when he does, put him down he can find items for you! From materials for crafting, to vouchers, to new costumes for him! Remember the number one rule of Monster Hunter: Poogie comes first!

6:43 What gives is that you're getting better at the game lol.
Knowing where to go, spending less time hesitating to remember controls, being able to better aim your attacks at better hitzones, etc.
11:00 Quests that have multiple monsters that you have to hunt scale their HP down a bit. Also, raw damage is king in MonHun; you can use very dedicated builds to get elemental damage to compete with raw damage, but in most cases element is only worth considering if the monster has good hitzones for that element AND has decent raw as well. So your Tobi Kadachi glaive was probably still doing good damage just because its raw was good enough.
I certainly have my gripes with MonHun World/Iceborne, but I hope you stick with it and enjoy it.

Also while you do story healing kinsect is worthwhile. Hope you enjoy the game bud, no wrong way to play a PvE if you’re enjoying!

A week late, since I just got this recommeneded just now, but its good that you didn't go with the defender armor this time, really helps with learning the game and getting to experience the base game. The defender armor itself is there to boost you from base game all the way to iceborne, with those comfy skills it comes with and bow strong the weapons are.
That said, 1hr of training room with each weapon is a tad overkill, at the most getting a feel for it with a quest against a monster you find fun would be better. Way better than the 1hr of training room.

11:00 To answer your question, there's a simple explanation: quests with multiple monsters downscale their HP so the quests don't take 10+ minutes per monster

  • @DaShikuXI
    @DaShikuXI 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

To explain a bit on elemental damage, since you mentioned it in the video:
Your weapon has both raw and elemental damage on it. If you hit Tobi with a thunder weapon, the elemental part deals 0 damage. The raw part however still deals full damage. Most of the time, especially in the early game, the elemental part of your weapon is irrelevant since it barely deals damage anyway. Elemental doesn't become relevant until you actually build for it with armor skills. Just pick whichever weapon has the highest raw value, regardless of element.
To get a bit more mathy:
8:05 Your Tobi glaive has 90 thunder damage on the weapon card. You have to divide that by ten in MHW to get your 'true elemental damage', which is 9. So whenever you hit something with your glaive you can do at most 9 thunder damage to it. This 9 damage however still has to go past the monster's thunder resistance. Pukei-Pukei is weak to thunder damage. Its head has 70% resistance against thunder, so you will deal 30% of the true elemental damage. So against a Pukei's head you would deal 9 x 0.3 = 2.7 thunder damage per hit.
In other words you really don't have to worry about elemental damage right now since even if you exploit the weaknesses you get 3 damage extra per hit, which in the grand scheme of things is nothing.

Monster Hunter's creatures are based off of basic, reusable skeletons most of the time for the exact purpose that you can *just* manage to see various species being offshoots of a single ancestor or two, which gives the game some neat realism.
They really nail it on visual appearance and sound design. The realism is usually thrown out the window for crazy design ideas when you get to the Elder Dragons, though, look forward to them! (Though World has some of the tamest designs from the series, except for one glowy boy)

The "runaway" feature is kind of an indicator for its health. Monsters usually move after a certain damage threshold until you eventually force them to flee towards their nest, where they will sleep and regenerate health. You'll know they're near death when they limp and a skull appears on the minimap.
It was annoying at first, but once you get to know where the monsters usually go you can use the downtime from their escape to restock items or change certain equipment back at camp, then head straight to where you know they'll be at. Most areas have their own environmental traps so you'll have more to work with that help the hunt go faster.

Not To Mention I Was First Exposed To Dauntless Before Monster Hunter (Which Is Ironic Since MH Was Around Far Longer Than Dauntless But I Would've Stuck To It Regardless Due To It Being *FREE* And I'm Very Poor Than And Still Somewhat Now)
But I Enjoyed Both Games (Yes I Have Both, Yes I've Beaten Monster Hunter World & Iceborn And Yes I've Played A Lot Of Hours Into Both Games And Considered *DECENT* At Best In MHI & Dauntless) My Only Problem Is Fully Mastering The Games And Managing Myself Properly To Fully Improve On Both Games, Still Working On One Of The Two Games For That (Data Is Also Limited On Wifi Despite The *"Unlimited Data Plan"* I Was Set Up With But Not Everyone Is Here In Alaska With Me, With Slow Internet That's Like Watching An Old Person On The Verge Of Dying But Just Won't Stop Until You Hit Them Hard One Way Or Another)
Ok, I'll Shorten What I'm Saying At The End Here.
Dauntless & Monster Hunter? Both Good. Are They The Same? Used To Be But Dauntless Is Trying To Be It's Own Game Now (No Longer Being A Free Knock-Off Variant) Is It Worth Trying Both Of Them? Absolutely, Just Know You Have To *AT LEAST COMMIT TO THE GAMES* To Be Able To Enjoy Them In The First Place (I Have A Friend Whom Also Had Both But Didn't Even Beat The First Main Creatures Of Both Of The Games, Just A Waste Of Money And Data If You Ask Me)
Now, Hope That Clears A Bit Of These Things Up For Some Of You. *If You Wanna Say Something Negative, Just Don't Say A Thing At All* Because Not Everyone Wants To See The Same Old *Human Vs Human* Disputes We've Been Having For A Few Million Years (Give Or Take A Few) When We Could Literally Do Something Better, Like Actually Learning The Differences Between The Two Games.
In Monster Hunter, You Don't Just Hunt Monster's And Become The *"Hunter"*, You Learn Their Attack Patterns And Personalities, How They Act Upon Seeing You Or Other Monsters, Keeping "Balance" In The Whole World Of Monster Hunter. Dauntless Is Literally Just Haunting Monsters Because The Powers The Behemoths Obtained *CAN* Erase Humanity If Left Unchecked, The Behemoths Only Have A Singular Goal, *"Kill Any Human Within A Certain Area."* They Don't Let Anyone Get Close Without Getting Triggered To Fight, They May Hesitate But They'll Fight You Regardless Even If They Know They'll Die For It.
Alright, *I hope You Read All Of It Or You Won't Know What You'll Say That May Or May Not Be Correct, Regardless If You're Being Polite Or Not Since Not Two Humans Are Exactly The Same, And Thus, Will ALWAYS React Differently To HOW YOU'LL RESPOND TO THIS COMMENT.* And If You Did Read It All And Have Learn A Few *GOOD* Things About Me And The Games, Have A Happy Life Ahead Of You. Monster hunter historically has been known for how much of a grind it. Yes, as you go through the story, you fight new monsters. Now, it's not as easy to make an armour set the moment you fight a new monster. You must repeatedly fight that monster to gain materials not only for its armour, but its weapons. The materials might require you to fight other monsters, gather bugs, mine ores etc. There is typically a material for an armour piece in the set that has a super low drop rate (3-5%), which means even more grinding
Now, once you finish the story, like many games, that's actually where the game starts. Monster hunter is a game where typically the story will last you about 30-50 hours, however, the endgame content takes you all the way to 1000+ hours. This is to say that there are MANY endgame activities, and typically anywhere from 60 to 70% of the monsters in the game are found in endgame. Different mh games have different endgame activities. I will not go into them so as to not spoil you if you want to play in the future, but just know that beating the game is only the tutorial. Expect hundreds upon hundreds of endgame (im personally on 1.2k hours in mh world plus its expansion)
This also isn't even to mention that mh world in particular followed a live service-type post launch support where they regularly dropped in new monsters, event quests, seasonal events, sieges, armour etc beyond the game's release and even beyond the endgame. There's just so much content you can sink your teeth into. There are many side quests that help you unlock certain tools in a hunt, there are minigames such as photography, treasure hunting etc.
At this point, I think I'm overselling the game. My point is, your comment about mh being a story game (lmao) is as far from the truth as can be, and I was trying to explain to you all the different activities you can engage with. I encourage you to play the game.
      Happy hunting

Part of the "problem" with your previous MH episode is that many weapon types in Monster Hunter incorporate mechanics that are ... difficult to spot by yourself (i.e. without advance explanation/tutorials), and the "war pike" is ABSOLUTELY one such weapon. On the other hand, if you want to try a weapon whose mechanics are straightforward and intuitive, I'd suggest maybe Great Sword (hits slow but hard, hit-and-run playstyle), Sword & Shield (fast and versatile), or Lance (slow but persistent, "tank" playstyle)

I was sitting here thinking... "How tf did you bounce so much on Barroth and and Radobaan?"... But then I remembered. I started the game as part of the Hammer gang. I literally did not use another weapon besides Hammer till post game. Bouncing has RARELY, if ever been an issue.

hey man, just wanted to say, the fact that you tried it out again, despite the negative stuff the first time around, is really cool. MH games in a nutshell really requires you to understand everything. From monsters, to the fucking menus istg. In Dauntless, it's a much more basic approach, but I think it also has its charms (I have been having a blast playing with friends through the game lol).
But anywho, thanks for giving MH another chance! Looking forward for your MH journey updates! I also subbed because, again, I play Dauntless and I watch sum of your vids lol.

  • @TheNervousMedic
    @TheNervousMedic 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Wha- I can't believe people were disliking it! It's a video I specifically looked up mostly because i wanted to see weather Dauntless players would enjoy the game even if playing it as a completely blind newbie. Your reactions were amazing, and I enjoyed the video so much, there aren't any others out there like it and I'm STILL super excited to see you play more!!!
Edit: watched the rest of the vid! :D
Duuude, what a good sesh. The monsters aren't easier you're just getting better at the game! Though that being said quests with multiple monsters do make both the monsters a tad weaker.
The game is even multiplayer, maybe if you have other Dauntless mains in your friend group you could convince them all to give the game a try? >w> I would be fucken pumped to see a full crew do a bunch of quests together.

  • @flisboac
    @flisboac 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I'm still halfway through the video, but...
1:14 No, that's a lie. The vast majority of watchers were complaining not because of your skills or about the gameplay, but because of your attitude towards the game, or about the general disdain and lack of interest you showed on stream. The fact that you're a beginner, or is not playing "correctly" (whatever you mean by that), has absolutely nothing to do in regards to why people disliked your first video. If you're going to give Monster Hunter a second chance, at the very least go in with a good mindset, so that the experience is good for both parties (you, and your audience; unless your intended audience are Dauntless elitists, or MHW haters). If you try to "force" yourself to play MHW again just for views and quick/dirty jabs at it, you will surely repeat your mistakes yet again, and your dislike ratio will go up accordingly.
EDIT: About the "try all weapons for an hour or two": bad wording there, I wholeheartedly admit, but I understand where the person is coming from. Each weapon plays out very differently from each other, overall, and the game doesn't explain much about them (apart from the hunter notes). His intention (I think) was to encourage you to get the feel for each weapon, not to be proficient with each one from the get-go. Perhaps you'd be more comfortable with another weapon, but for that to happen, you need to try it out for some minutes, or perhaps do a mission or two with it. Most players start with a weapon, but end up maining a completely different one (like me). Hence why the person suggested that. I see you did just that (try weapons out), and that's really nice!
Having said all that, I look forward to more Monster Hunter videos from you! It's always nice to watch newcomers to the series!

I highly recommend you look up a channel called SkySensei for his MHWIB IG guide. He mains IG and he also plays on PC so you won’t have to worry about translating the controls, he will explain everything that you need to know about the weapon. Especially the mechanics that the game doesn’t tell you about and that you more than likely won’t figure out on your own(not a dig at you, MH is known for not explaining everything about its systems. Especially the mechanics around weapons).

yea you are right, monster hunter is not easy to get into, but once you learn it and put the time in its so fun. Everyone always complains how boring dauntless combat gets in the endgame because the combat in daunless is pretty basic. This is diffrent in monster hunter. The combat in monster hunter is so in depth that it will take newer playrs 100+ hours to get somewhat decent at it but if you do the the game is so fun for so long. In my first mh which was 4u i had 2200 hours and only stopped playing it because a new one came out but it was still so much fun and i was no where near of getting bored after 2200 hours.

Really glad to see the restraint from using the Defender gear and weapons. Still not a problem if you wanna use em just for fun, but ultimately they are indeed a crutch set implemented when Iceborne dropped for people to play catch-up. Yes it’s definitely helpful for people making a second and or third character till they get good decorations and other armors with the proper mix-and-match potential and to help with getting those secondary and tertiary characters into Iceborne, but it’s just more or less taking the easy route to Iceborne. People are certainly welcome to use that gear, but in my honest opinion it takes away from really experiencing the game and going through all the “hardships” of it and feeling great and relieved about beating certain monsters and getting past certain parts of the game. Yeah a lot of stuff in it can be a pain, some stuff more than others, but ultimately it’s all part of the experience. Really hope you’re enjoying the game so far man. I never really knew about your channel till the 2 MH vids, but quite frankly it’s because I never much cared for Dauntless so I never followed any channels for the game. But I can say that I’m glad that because I watch a lot of MH vids, from fellow speedrunners, and from those who aren’t that are just playing and or reviewing the game, I was suggested the first MH vid you did because you were coming from Dauntless and trying out MH. It’s great to see people trying the game out for the first time, even if World/Iceborne is their first MH game they’ve played from the series. Because more often than not, they wind up going back and playing and experiencing the older MH games and really getting into this great series. Hopefully playing this one does the same for you, if you like this one enough.

Monster Hunter places a huge emphasis on monster ecology and the human's (hunters') relationship with nature. In fact, *we* call them monsters, but they're basically just animals. That's why they run away, because like animals, they don't want to die. Like in real life, some animals are harmful to the balance of the environment and must be weeded out, hence why we hunt them.
I like that they run away, narratively and mechanically. It shows that they're not just big bad evil creatures and actually have complex lives that they live, and also it gives us time to restock and maintain our gear in between fights.

Ok so here it goes, Im currently thinking about picking up dauntless after spending over 2000 hours in mh titles and figured, why not xD
So the video title of the previous video was immediately intriging, because its really the other point of view literally.
BUT .. after the first couple of minutes I got the feeling you came into the game already not wanting to like it and with a really negative mindset so I turned the video off again..

I'm surprised you got so much hate and discouragement. The MH community is usually a pretty chill / positive community (a guy called Hey Jay! hated on the game at first, the community encouraged him and gave him some suggestions and now got a whole series on the game) probably the really negative feeling tone of the video triggered some people. I'm sure a lot of this will have been answered, but I might as well throw in my two cents.
The monsters running is a mechanic for capturing them, it can be a bit tedious but is less of an annoyance later on in the game.
Quests with more than one monster reduce the health of the monsters (or their damage resistances, idk MH has complex damage calculations) so it's less about killing one strong one and more about defeating a gauntlet of them
With stuff like the Paoluma, it encourages you to look into armor skills and really learn a monster to kit yourself for it. It's sort of a thing with MH that half the battle is learning and preparing for the monster itself.

    @philippaction9143 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    1. Yes make sure to always eat :)
    2. If a Monsters HP is low enough it runs to its nest to sleep. It depends on your damage and the monsters state when its going to run away, so that way you unfortunately always had the cases, that you kept it in the area for so long, that the "running away" mechanic kicked in when the monster only has like 50 HP left. I hope that was kinda understandable.
    3. In a quest or investigation with several monsters, each monsters HP is lowered, thats why it felt faster.

As an insect glaive main I will say upgrading your bugs helps a lot more than you would think, also there is some stuff later that really helps with damage output that I won't spoil. Eh don’t pay attention to those who say you shouldn’t play, or call you trash. You have to learn and eventually you just get better. But I won’t lie I did scream inside when you picked the defender gear, but it’s logical to pick when you don’t know why it’s there, although I think it shouldn’t be there in the first place.

You'll be in the low ranks a little longer until after zorah magdaros again, right now your in low rank, high + 5 special assignment monsters & that's base game, admittable world is similar to original monster hunter, icebourne is closer to what the series is like so I hope you get to it
If you have iceborne that means when monsters pause & show their sides it's an opening for clutch claw for damage but careful, they enrage faster when you do this
Also btw you might wanna check out the list of monsters for the series, your kinda right, plenty of reptile & wyvern but they do actually have a wide array & use the skeletons to vary

hey! Some advice if i may:
learn to catch monsters (more loot, faster hunt)
use bombs and flashbugs, they can make the hunt way faster if timed correctly (flashbugs can stop a fleeing monster)
use demondrug, demon powder and the fruit itself as they give you a nice damage boost and they stack
dont worry about upgrade-ing your armor as those pieces will be irrelevant later in the game and upgrade spheres are not that easy to come by
and would recommend trying out other weapons, its a big part of the game

Tips: when a monster roar try to time roll to get the where you don’t get stagger.
When the monster is limping away is basically they are dying you can see a skull icon on the map, they will always run away to their resting spot to sleep and get some health back.
Claw clutch is quite useful like you can temporarily make them get knock down by sending them into a wall but you need slinger ammo also claw clutch allow you to wound a body part and make it easier to do damage or part break.
When the monster enrage you can see on the right of your mini map that the monster has a red eye icon and cannot be claw clutch launch and will be a bit tougher to flinch.

This is a great video =D TOo bad the last video was received so bad, but I watched it too and it was not too great! I rather enjoy this type of videos however, so I wouldn't mind you making more =D
Also, a few more interesting things you might want to try out:
When a monster is limping, and it get's to its sleep area, you can actually capture it with some capture device and sleep Bombs! This will get more rewards, and sometimes even rewards you usually cannot get by carving (though there is also stuff you can only get from carving, so it is not always recommended, but most of the times!) you can actually see in your Monster Journal what gives what rewards, if you got enough monster tracks and encounters =) But that is mostly important on High and Master Rank, but it is absolutely good to know!
other than that I say you already did a great job =D keep it up!
And about weapons: Just stick with the glaive! The Longsword is damn good, but if you are not into counter attacking and stuff, then there are better weapons. And the glaive can jump and attack monster Parts the Longsword usually cannot reach =)
Also, about the Element: Technically you can use every element weapon on any monster (with very few exceptions), since the most important stat is the RAW Damage! There are exceptions for some weapons, but you should get the details for yourself! Also, some Elements can have special effects on Monsters, for example a Water Weapon get's the mud of an Jyuratados or an Barroth easier off then other weapons! just as an example =) You have to literally trial and error your way through this game at times!

10:49 it's because your weapon has hi raw atk both your raw AND the weapons element are calculated for total damage against monsters that being said it's usually faster to slay a monster with weakness element than the elements that the monster has resistances against.🤨🤔🧐

You can consider picking up a new weapon as an extra challenge in this game, you will always need to put in the time to learn it, to get to the same proficiency as your other weapons and some weapons like the bow or bowguns are really dependent on your skills, thus will always be easier to pick up in the late game. However, they do give you the opportunity to get a unique angle in a fight and some monster matchups are just way more enjoyable. But it is entirely possible to solo the game with just one weapon type from start to finish.

U can stop the monster from running away using flash bomb or any projectile that flinches. Early monsters are quite meh, the game gets more fun against higher tier monsters.
