    During the beta version of the game behemoths were able to flee an area. That was because most islands were a lot smaller back then and only had 3 locations to fight, with 1 behemoth on each island. However since the massive lobby update the devs changed the way hunts work, thus locking behemoths to a certain position on a map. The only way for it to flee now is to get the danger meter to 100%.

      Chasing system have some benefit tho. It gave a time to breath or re-strategize the situation.
      Then comes the massive power creep that makes everyone killing the behemoth in less than 5 mins, everyone keeps whining about chasing them wasted their time. So, the dev just up and destroyed said power creep Instead, thus destroying 100 of hours that people investing in that game. They could've introducing a cap to that system, releasing harder content or nerfing it but the dev opting to delete people progress instead.
      I'm still surprise this game still stand after all that backlashes from the players. These day not even a single person i used to play with are still playing this game.
      Also the server side lag spike problem still exists and probably never gonna go away, which is sucks especially for a game that relying this much on a tight dodge timeframe.

    I actually really liked the "Unstable Monster Attack" system in dauntless. It made fights like the Storm Claw's absolutley amazing. grounding a charging Shriek with a point blank pike blast is a rush I have not been able to find in monster hunter. While certain things like flash bombs do feel similar it doesn't hit the same. Also monster would flee in the old version of the game but they stopped after the hunting grounds were introduced.

    Long time player here to fill some gaps in this videos knowledge
    The game is actively updated. With high developer communication to its fans via social media and a (albeit slightly slow) road map showing upcoming plans, ideas, and backlog of possible content in the future
    There is a total of 7 weapon classes each with their own play style. All being relatively equal in power and excelling at some styles
    The dodge system is a bit confusing at start. Dodge towards the attack at the last second to avoid all damage
    There used to be a system of chase down the behemoth. It was removed in favor of faster shorter fights
    There is a fail state in the modes Escalation and Trials. And technically Hunting Grounds but it rarely ever happens
    If you have any questions feel free to ask and I'll explain to the best of my ability

All the in-app purchases are for cosmetics and battle pass stuff but none of it is necessary, and you can get quite a few cosmetics and special items just by playing the game. All the weapons are available and all the monsters are available so long as your gear is strong enough. Solid game in my opinion.

    10:10 the dauntless battlepass is probably one of the more customer friendly approaches, for example you can keep your battlepass even after the season ends, so you are never forced to play even when you dont feel like it aslong as you bought the pass, in edition the battlepass rotate, the current bp is the same we had back in 2020 with the release of Blaze Escalation

    6:43 They flee 1 minute after the danger meter reaches 100%.. Effectively despawning..
    7:24 You can upgrade the effectiveness of the healing potions in Slayer's Path talent tree as well as the carry capacity up to 8.. I use Iceborne Omnicell for passive lifesteal most of the time.. Koshai Bloom lantern gives temporary lifesteal also.. Then you got the Parasitic Cell (Defense Cell) that grants temporary lifesteal after taking more than 10% of your max HP in damage in a single hit as well as taking a chunk of the damage your would have taken into a slow damage over time for the duration of the lifesteal..
    7:30 Whenever a player is downed, it raises the Danger Meter faster.. As long as there is a player down, the Danger Meter will continue to tick faster than normal.. The Danger Meter is the % amount in the triangle on the right side of your screen .. When it reaches 100% the monster will hit a lot harder and flee (despawn) after 1 minute.. The 1 minute timer will show up in center top of screen..
    8:38 The Slayer's Path is NOT a Battle Pass, it is your talent tree / skill tree.. It never resets.. The Hunt Pass is the Battle Pass in Dauntless..
    9:53 I am basically the same on the sentiment on Battle Passes in general.. The only ones done "right" are the ones you can buy and have permanent access to in order to unlock at your leisure.. If I recall correctly, Dauntless does exactly that with the 2 premium only passes that rotate more frequently, but have no free track.. I never been a fan of the ones where you only have a limited time to unlock everything you paid for or you miss out and wasted your money on a fraction of the product you paid for..

    • @apexpredator1699
      @apexpredator1699 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      On your comment about battle passes and the time frame to earn what you paid for, I disagree. You can simply not purchase it until you’ve hit max rank and then buy it and get all the rewards. And it’s a guarantee. Or if you don’t fully finish it but still feel the rewards are worth it. Go for it. The actual problem is ppl buying it the day it drops. Not knowing if they will be able to complete it.
      Edit: I’m one of those ppl by the way lol, but I guess it does drive me to play the game more cuz I have another goal on top of any I have with said game.

      @Masquerade404 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@apexpredator1699 True, you can wait until you finish the free track and then buy it, but not all games do that.. It is the games where there is only a premium track you cannot progress through without buying it first.. Those are the ones I have a problem with.. I do agree that it does give you an extra goal to set your sights on.. Which, by the way, is a good thing as it helps mitigate the "burnout" feeling of playing and not getting anywhere..

Sure lady fortune challenges exist but not everyone wants to actually try them and just play it more casually. I really love the game but I just think that many things feel missing and they should add a proper endgame challenge to keep ppl entertained.

The only reasons I play dauntless over MHW is that I find the skills more interesting, I like dauntless' theme more (I'm more of a futury kinda guy) and I like gun-type weapons, and the repeaters in dauntless are more fun to me than the bowguns

  • @toskbrot5635

    I also just want to add to this that the battle pass system is actually quite fair and rewarding for the players. If you buy the main hunting pass for 950 platinum or whatever (basically 1000 platinum so 10 euro or dollars cant remember) you will get all the platinum back if you play through the entire pass because that exact amount of platinum is included in said pass. So if you buy the pass just once you can get the next one for free if you grind through the pass, effectively having infinite passes for one buy.
    I also played this game a lot (212h is a lot for me but I am sure that there are people who have played more and also easily have more game knowledge then i do) but not recently so maybe my information is flawed, just as an disclaimer (but tbh I dont think they changed this system)
    My Problem (and my friends problem) with the game is that although they are updating the game frequently, the updates often dont feel exciting or meaningful because they often dont add that much content to it. Now, this may be a hot take a lot of player disagree what i can totally understand. I just wanna say that phoenix labs really likes to remake their systems rather then adding new stuff that actually keeps you going for a bigger goal. Because of how cells and the effects of weapons/armors work you dont really ever need to change a build once you have optimized a perfect build.
    f.e. a new monster comes out but the weapon/armor you can craft from said monster will have any of the pre-existing effects on it that you have already seen in this game before. There is no real identity attached to the stuff you can craft from the new monster except from the cell slot and the element, therefore taking away from the excitement for crafting new equipment. When I slay a monster in monster hunter f.e. im excited to see what the new armor or weapon set will enable buildwise.
    I know this might sound confusing if you dont really know what i am talking about but i hope that the people who do get what i am saying.
    why even hunt a new shrike variation if there is nothing to gain from it, no need for grind attached to it. Sure its fun in and of itself to fight a new monster but that alone wont keep you on for another 3 months or so.
    I dont wanna offend anyone btw who played this game a lot and still enjoys it a ton. i just wanna say in my opinion the endgame could use more meaningful content especially for the long time players.
    However if you never played this game before I think it is definetly worth your time. the gameplay feels great (a lot less clunky or slow then monster hunter), the hits, part breaks and interrupts in particular feel very good. the escalation grind is very fun once you get a hold of the amps and the progression system plus the rewards with the escalation specific behemoth weapons also are superbe (escalation weapons are the best in the game and the only ones with unique abilities except for a few epic weapons). Also the Dev team actually listens to its players quite a lot.
    All in all i really love this game but i am also dissapointed by it. For a lack of better words i leave at that. Thanks for reading my comment even tho it may be long, confusing and all over the place. Again i dont wanna offend any hardcore experts, my knowledge/opinion might be out of date but last time i checked (around the time radiant escalation released) i still felt that way about the game.

    the main 'fail safe' in dauntless is if the behemoth is too strong and you can't kill it by the time the Danger meter (the triangle shaped percentage icon underneath the behemoth icon) reaches 100%, the behemoth will flee and you don't gain anything from that fight.

    If I remember correctly the battle pass can be unlocked by the in game currency, which I believe is platinum. So when you unlock the paid battle pass you're actually paying for the Platinum and completing the battle pass will basically reimburse you all the Platinum back. So the next season's battle pass you can just unlock if you save your platinum for that, so you don't technically have to keep buying it over and over which I think is a nice feature. Of course I haven't played in about a year so that might have changed but I do remember doing a couple battle passes and I would just keep making the Platinum back to pay for the next one

Huge respect to you that you gave Dauntless another try. In my opinion, Dauntless is great for new players and casual players, its fun, fast, and engaging. As an avid MH and dauntless fan, I can say that much of dauntless isn't like monster hunter where you refine each build perfectly, it's really quite easy to reach "peak" strength and doesn't take nearly as long as it does in MH. The difference however is when it comes to how you interact with your endgame and build system. The builds are not grindy, and because of this, you are encouraged to try as many as you can, changing cells (perks or decorations) as you see fit. The real dauntless endgame is really a speedruns competition. The new gauntlet mode pits guild against each other to get as far as they an in a sort of endless timed mode. The smallish playerbase had my guild and I really seeing results on the leaderboard after out time invested into the mode, and we had a fun time whilst doing it. (It also made all of us much better at the game after dealing with all the absurd level modifiers (yes vitality I'm looking at you)). The true endgame is very self driven. You'll never get anything to improve your loadout from Dauntless difficulty trials or late levels in the gauntlet mode. The endgame is refining your skillset to a tee, memorising behemoth attack patterns and hitboxes, experimenting with new builds that anybody can make.

    To the people who will see this video and go "yEaH i KnEw tHiS wAs A ChEap MoNsTeR hUnTeR rIpOfF". Let me cover some of the things he missed. So for one dauntless is a free game, pretty much every free game nowadays has a battle pass. Like you said it is just something that has happened in the gaming industry and that's just a part of it now, the other bottle passes he mentioned is just a less expensive couple tears of cosmetics that were recycled from past updates. AKA if you missed the Ninja set from the second season of the original launch there is a chance that you might eventually get it. The combat system is also way more involved than he makes it out to be, there is one thing that he completely neglected to mention which are cells. I would hardly call these mediocre stats considering there's cells from everywhere between giving you a little bit more health, to "hey you're able to one shot the thing now".
    There are also different game modes in dauntless, it's not just enter a map, kill shit, leave, repeat. There are game modes where you can fight one really strong monster with a bunch of modifiers to the mission from anywhere between the behemoths will stay enraged from 50% health to death, to the behemoth being able to one shot you, to it literally being able to flash bang you. Also we know that these monster hunting games enemies are pretty much all bosses. But dauntless has actual bosses, in escalation mode you fight through a gauntlet of behemoths of a certain element while sometimes fighting multiple at once. And if you do well against those behemoths you will be able to fight a giant boss. Being anywhere from a literal gigantic fucking dragon, to Randall from monsters Inc. and there is so much you are able to upgrade with different weapons and armors having different kinds of cells. And you can make pretty much whatever build you want, yes build. The character building in dauntless can very much be just as complicated as it is in monster Hunter. There are also wildly different abilities that each weapon can use. There's a weapon that's essentially boxing gloves, it can have a super ability that either a giant clap that deals a lot of damage. All the way up to essentially a Kamehameha. And every single weapon in the game does have multiple of these supers and other mods that you can hook onto each weapon. Some weapons in of themselves are just different than others, in the sense of he was using a pike throughout the video and he was showing off the shooting mod. However there is a exotic weapon in the pi category called The God hand which turns your missile into a giant laser beam. And there are multiple exotic weapons with their own backstories, oh yeah speaking of story. There is a story to this game, it's just not as front and center as it is in monster Hunter. If you want to see the full story you're going to have to look into item descriptions, character dialogue, etc etc. Think of it like the dark souls style of storytelling. This game is a constantly updating free to play that as someone who has played both monster Hunter and dauntless (and is very excited for rise coming to game pass). I would honestly say that I would prefer dauntless to the monster Hunter series. There are a lot of distinct differences between monster Hunter and dauntless, it's just that if you only play for 2 hours while just having monster Hunter on your mind then that's all you're going to see, the combat alone is very intricate in different ways for each game. Do you want your giant hammer to support your allies with its buff? Go ahead. Do you want that hammer to have less shells (yes shells, the hammer in this game is also a shotgun) but have those shells be more effective for whatever mode you use? Go for it. Or maybe you want to do the opposite and load more shells into your hammer to have a less effect but wider striking area or more snacks to a buff. There are all of those things and much much more and that alone is just the hammer. I do recommend that anyone who was a fan of monster Hunter to actually play for more than like 2 to 3 hours. Get into the game and unlock shit, and I guarantee that you will like it. Maybe for its similarities to months or hunter, maybe for its many differences from monster Hunter. Either way I can guarantee you will like it if you actually give it a chance.
    If you actually read towards the end thank you, this is a game that I am really passionate about and is absolutely amazing. This game has an amazing community and very active competitive scene. The people are very welcoming and you will find even a lot of monster Hunter veterans who picked up this game and loved it. In a way he was kind of on point with the whole description of "monster hunter like" this game isn't really a copy of monster Hunter but they are similar enough to have the same thrive. I can only hope that you will give this game a chance and if you're reading this far hopefully you've had your interest piqued by a veteran. Once again it's free so you have no downside of trying this.... I hope you give this wonderful game a try and I hope to see you in the hunt. So long slayer

    Some things used to be a lot more like MH. You’d embark on a quest for a single behemoth. You and a team of up to three other players would land on the island, and you’d have to search around and actually find the behemoth, then throw a flare to let everyone know where it was. As you fought it, it would retreat to different parts of the map.
    You also initially required a lot less materials to make gear. Just needed to hunt a behemoth a handful of times to get the full armor set and a couple weapons.
    But they realized these systems didn’t work good for a long running live-service game, so they made the grindfest hunting grounds, and made gear take a ton more materials to make, so you really have to grind for just a single piece of gear.

    Thank you for this review. Some things I wanna say as I do have a couple thousand hours in the game. First. Is the more mid to end game stuff. Once you reach the mid game, the game expands a pretty decent amount. You unlock a lot more challenges and hunts along with really cool behemoths. It reminds me how I felt when I played monster hunter rise. I played dauntless years before I played my first monster hunter game which was rise. Now. My absolute favorite thing to do in dauntless are escalations. Those are so fun. They work a bit more like normal hunts in monster hunter. You still have 3 self revives but once you run out you either have to be revived by a teammate or, if your soloing, you simply fail and have to restart. But if you make it to the end you fight a keystone behemoth which is basically a legendary behemoth. The weapons you can craft from these behemoths are so cool and have special abilities unique to each one. So far there is one keystone behemoth for each element besides neutral. That being said. The end game.. there really isn't anything left to do.. once you level all the escalations. And fought every behemoth countless of times it just kinda ends. But not really? I dunno. But with the most recent updates it is keeping me playing which is surprising. But as of right now. They are making something out of end game very slowly. Also.. some behemoths hotboxes are... Bad.. to say the least. With behemoths like drask and charogg. While these aren't hard behemoths to fight it's just kind of annoying to be standing on the complete opposite side of a behemoth and it still hit you. Most noticable with charogg. You're attacking he's left arm and he'll do a swipe with his right and it will just hit for no reason. Other than little things like that. I just really enjoy the game personally.

    This is a good review👍but I feel it is unfortunate the game didn't keep you long enough to delve into the Omnicells system though. You're missing out on what can be the best mechanic Dauntless has to offer. They are a bit deep into the midgame so I can't blame you for making a review before getting to them it's a big problem that Dauntless waits so long to introduce you to a core mechanic.
    I consider Omnicells to be the most fun part of the game and I wanna talk about one of my favorite concepts it brings to Dauntless that kinda flips the whole meta playstyle and builds of the game on its head.
    The Tempest Omnicell gives you a stack of a movement speed buff upon each successful dodge, you can sacrifice one of these stacks to perform a short lightning dash. Each 1% of movement speed you have increases the damage of this dash by 5%.
    This Omnicell is so influential it encourages you to change your entire build and playstyle to revolve around it, stacking every situational movement speed buff together in one build and trying to get them all to line up and trying to bait the Behemoth into being as aggressive as possible to farm stacks which is directly opposed to the current meta of the game.
    With interruptable attacks("boops"), staggers, part breaks and paralyze effects there are 4 different ways to stun a Behemoth in Dauntless which can easily be chained together to keep a Behemoth unconscious for the vast majority of the fight, this has been the optimal way to play the game for almost half a decade now and at times can get very boring but Tempest completely goes against that and in some cases it can actually outperform meta DPS stunlock builds and make even the sweatiest way to play the game an absolute blast.
    Most of the other Omnicells also bring fun ideas that change up your playstyle, but this one shines above as an example of what the mechanic can be and what I feel you're missing out on as an early game player.

    7:55 this is only in the hunting ground, in escalation and trials once you lost your thrid revive you will not get a new one, also the more times you get downed in the hunting grounds (and not get revieved by a player) the longer your recharge will take and when a behemoth reaches 100% danger it will flee, causing you to effectively fail

    As far as the passes go. The main pass will always refund you the full amount if you previously bought it. The Slayer Commisions are 900 Plat and they give you 900 plates in return. Meaning you can buy the next one that comes around. So quite a few ayers only ever bought enough just to endlessly have the elite track of it every season since they wouldn't have to spend more. Unless they are like me and want certian cosmetics from the other passes them yes you are gonna spend the money. But I do think it's a wonderful system for a pass that upu just have to buy once and it always gives you the amount back that you spent initially

    7:50. There is a fail-state... sorta. While you're hunting you can see a danger meter on the right side of your screen. This will progressively build as the fight goes on, building faster the worse you and your buddies are doing. If it reaches 100% you will have 1 minute to finish off the behemoth or else, it will flee. During events the behemoth gets empowered during this minute and begins one-shotting everyone it hits. This only ever really happens if you're taking on a behemoth that wayyyy outlevels you (or if there's a few randos on the hunt with you that really shouldn't be in that area yet).
    In conclusion: it's a lot like MonHun's fail-state on an expedition: you could technically get downed as many times as you want and slam your forehead into a monster that you're not ready for, but it'll leave in about 50 minutes.

  • @darthplagueis13
    @darthplagueis13 ปีที่แล้ว

    Behemoths used to flee battles, but that was before a pretty major rework.
    Simply put: Originally, Dauntless hunts were a lot like Monster Hunter. You reach a locale, find your target critter, fight it for a while, it runs away, you pursue and eventually you kill it and the hunt is over.
    However, with the Reforged update, this old system was replaced by the hunting grounds: Big free-roam areas, each map with an individual selection of behemoths to fight and events you can play, sectioned into a bunch of smaller arenas with one behemoth each.
    This is also where the fail state thing comes in. Originally, if you died too much you'd just be sent back to the main base. But I guess they didn't want to forcibly end hunting grounds runs, so instead you can inly fail encounters, but not the entire hunt.

  • @GamCine
    @GamCine ปีที่แล้ว

    In hunting grounds, the down system is more like, if all are weak, and go down often, the danger meter will rise fast to 100, and once there, you have one minute, or the monster leaves. In escalations, the "real" dangerous hunts, there are no time mechanic, and if you run out of revives, you have to be revived, or the hunt will fail with all down. As danger meter rises, monster get tougher, and at 100 in escalations, there are no revives, and whoever is standing, has to finish hunt, or fail it.

    I was in the closed Alpha and Beta and I played a lot during that time, stopped a bit after release as no major changes were made from the tests.
    Played again a few months ago and for all it's improvements it has some major issues now. Some bugs, but the thing that kills it is the massive amounts of grind and you can't even target the monster you want having to wait or kill other monsters you don't care about for a chance the monster you want spawns and an even smaller chance you break and get the part you want which you likely need multiple of.
    If you have a friend group and you will play together it's easily worth a try, if you're solo/random I think you will get tired of it fairly fast

    There is actually a "fail state" in the game. That little meter that fills up under the behemoths' health bar in the top right corner is the fail state. It builds up slowly over time and builds up faster when teammates are down. If it reaches 100%, all revives are disabled for the rest of the fight

    overall dauntless's battlepass isnt too bad, they tend to last a few months and you get all of you currency back if you just do the main pass. they also give the currency on the free path (lesser amounts) but after 4 or 5 passes you can buy the main pass forever as long as you play.

  • @raur4862
    @raur4862 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

    9:50. I actually really like the battlepass in Dauntless. I've never bought it and have always used the free battlepass, but I can see that they're very fair with the pricing. First, the free battlepass gives you platinum, which you can use to buy the paid battlepass eventually. Also, completing the paid battlepass awards you with enough platinum to buy next season's battlepass, which is nice because you only have to earn the platinum once. Second, buying the battlepass is retroactive, so you can wait until you've compelted it before you buy the paid battlepass, meaning you're not out of luck if you miss a season. Which brings me to my third point: seasons are VERY long. You've got several months to complete each battlepass, and it does not take that long if you're playing consistently. If you played a few hours each weekend you could probably finish the battlepass with a few months to spare. If you play during the week, you'll get it done even faster. At the end of the day, if you don't want to complete the 5 free seasons to earn unlimited paid battlepasses, it's only 10$ to get the platinum for unlimited paid battlepasses. By far not the worst battlepass I've ever seen.

    I've played Dauntless for years and I guess I'm missing out because I've never played Monster Hunter?
    When it first came out I enjoyed it originally but it became too tedious with the crafting and even when I unlocked better armor or weapons I was being ruthlessly punished so I stopped playing.
    I came back after the reforge it had and I fell in love with it. In my eyes they improved almost everything because you no longer were subjugated to fighting a single behemoth and crafting new gear took a lot less materials. I started to see improvement in my build instead of being constantly beat down by behemoths.
    I think this is a great game and I've seen a lot of developers leave their games to sit and expect it to take off on its own but Phoenix Labs does a great job of putting out new content and bug fixes every month or so. This game still has an element of being repetitive but it's an endurable amount that I think the rest of the game makes up for.
    I recommend it wholeheartedly! Besides it's free, you've got nothing to lose in trying it out.

    Wow there's a few things to point at.
    Monsters in hunts used to be able to flee back in pursuit but now that's gone, dodging is weird but it also depends on what weapon you use, chain blades being more of a dash than a roll, the revival wait gets about 15 seconds longer every time and can't be used during Max danger.
    The battle pass is currently trash because they've been recycling past passes for a while now, tho I haven't played since the last Nevermore event which was pre-gauntlet. And as for the frequent updates don't be fooled they're mostly just bug fixes and minor patches.

It is possible of course to get it all back with their new prestige system thing but personally I just quit. Wasnt worth it anymore. And I don't know if they are back but since they added the wild areas they took out pursuit hunts (hunt a single intentional target you pick like a regular quest in MH) since they did that waiting for the kill I needed to spawn in the wild areas was irritating. I also suffered from better game syndrome even while I was playing dauntless and enjoying it.

    The game actually has a fail state, its the danger meter, it is kind of an enrage mechanic, once you reach 100% you can only ress using the personal instant ress you have and the monster deals more damage. The way the meter increases is over time and if a player is downed it increases by 5% give or take and if there are downed players it increases quicker over time.

Hell I still get constant help with SOS flares, MH rise has such a simplified multi-player system and the fact that it is nintendo exclusive makes playing with a full part very constant. • @karaarcadia
    @karaarcadia ปีที่แล้ว

    During the beta, the game was much more akin to monster hunter with a mh style quest system of hunting. Back then behemoths would flee pretty frequently, once or twice per hunt. If someone fainted with no more self revives and had to be revived by someone else, this would deduct time from the game’s original form of a timer where the island you were hunting on would slowly crumble away plus you would come back with much less health every subsequent revive. If the timer (a % based timer) hit 100%, you would fail the quest.
    I also have this gripe with the new hunting grounds system. The game’s combat is (on a casual understanding, I am happy to be wrong here) based on exploiting elemental weaknesses. So I had several armour sets, one to counter the opposing element, but with the new hunting grounds it slaps in multiple different elemental behemoths, of course I could just change armour based on the behemoth right? Well because the game has limited supply drops per hunt and to get more you would need to pay real money to do so it felt like all my time was robbed.
    The behemoths also just don’t have enough health for the hunting grounds in my opinion. A behemoth appears, I fight it, several slayers join in, the behemoth dies in under 2 minutes. I had no time to really enjoy the fight before it even ended. They just don’t have enough health.
    I also just had a horrible experience when the game swap from beta to the 1.0 update. All the time I spent grinding for materials the week before were completely erased and I got nothing to replace it so I generally have a horrible outlook on dauntless even past all the microtransactions. Game has great combat, the new update movesets are cool but without single behemoth hunts I just don’t get that same spark monster hunter did with me.

    I played dauntless day one it released to consoles, end game there is nothing to do, you already have all the gear the escalations are super easy (even heroic) and trials are repetitive. It’s hard to have fun now that I’m at the end. I have played mhw for the last 3 years and I still haven’t gotten tired of it. Can’t wait for rise to release on the 15th.

    I love monster hunter well I love games in general. It’s a decent review but there’s more to the game I feel a review should delve into every aspect a game as to offer you missed the cells(skills) that come on and slot to armor and weapons, the Omnicells, escalations, escalation skill trees, trials, new end game gauntlet mode, and quest you can unlock for more free cosmetics. For a free game it has a lot to offer. And I’d recommend dauntless for someone just starting in a MH type game or to someone taking a break from MH to look at something else or similar. Ps And for those that love lore it’s got lore in most aspects of the game from the characters to the behemoths and even locations.

    They can flee if you let the danger triangle thing on the top right get to 100 o4 dangerous and then it has a countdown and then it flees or liken1.0.0 when it could go to a different place

    It’s definitely a 7 out of 10, great for beginners or for those that find Monster Hunter a little too hard or also if you want to play with someone that’s not a big gamer 👍🏻 great game for it being free!

      Dauntless is a really good game for it being free and also there are 30 million players across all platforms since it’s cross play every month but yes monster hunter world is better but it can take a lot more to hunt down monsters.

    It's true, it's a monster hunter like, but not monster hunter. I remember a period in witch I switched between mh and dawntless because they are similar, but also different, so they give me a different kind of fun. But the pass before was autopayed (you buy the pass and then you just play the game, make more money and buy the next one with the currency you made in game), but now it's very different and I don't quite like to purchase it anymore. But it's still fun free to play

    I used to play this game almost religiously for like 2 and a half years and then I hit late game stuff and it lost all of its appeal and new stuff wasn't being added to the game fast enough for my liking, so I just uninstalled and moved on to different games. It's been a good while since I've played it tho, so I might need to go back and check it out, see how much it's changed since I've been gone 🤔

    I will say this about dauntless compared to monster hunter, no weapon in monster hunter feels as satisfying to use as the pike in dauntless. That's just my opinion.

    On dauntless the battle passes are actually decent and not really predatory. You charge only once money for a battle pass and once you finish it(which is easy to be done since you play the game on a very chill manner) they give you more than enough platinum to buy the next battle pass. The extra ones are for cosmetics only, that if you really want them.

    What made me quit dauntless (i was one of the players in the early alphas of the game) was that they changed some stuff that it may look "dumb" but it was a big deal for me, at the start the monsters didnt have a visible life bar, you had to pay atention to the way the monster was moving and behaving, looking at its visible wounds, the monster would flee more often if he was at lower health, but now there is the little heart in the top right and they dont see to flee that much during battles, as i said it can be considered minor things but those were things that imo added depth to the hunts and the gameplay

    I played this game for several months (maybe between 4-8 months, I forgot), I actually enjoy it. Tho with that being said, the games has its ups and downs... I like the deco system (I forgot what's called here), and the omnicell, it makes the weapon played in a variety of ways possible unlike in MH where you'll stuck in just one way of playing it (pre rise). Downside is, the map feels like empty, and the crafting system is too simple. Also monster feels like soul less, unlike in Monhun where even after fighting Diablos 250+ times and I still get it sometimes, here in dauntless after fighting a behemoth 5-15 times, I can perfectly fight it without getting hit. It's hard to explain, but it's kinda like fighting a MMO boss where you know the sequence of their attacks. Also weapon's movement looks smooth but it's moveset kinda clunky

    the legendary weapon the hunger sword was very epic in dauntless it's still my best weapon
    for me the game was lack of maj because when you did everything
    the game was not good enough to let me play it so i don't come back and this is bad because if they made more maj with more behemot i will return but now i did everything so compare to monster hunter
    i definitively play monster hunter with iceborn extension

    Behemoths will flee a minute after the "percentage" hits 100 in the top right under the health of that behemoth.

    I have played dauntless for a few years now, and I still really like the game, even If I dont play it as much as I used to. I expected this video to be like ChilledTiger's video where he just dogged on the game without giving it a chance 💀
    But this video was really good actually, definitely missed on a lot of things like calling the slayers path a battle pass, when its just a skill tree. and I agree battlepasses are just something we have to deal with whether we like it or not sadly. but the battle passs on the game are fully cosmetics and dont expire at the end of the season (but tbf the free armor from the cache is infinitely better than battlepass equipment anyways.) Also no mention on cells and omnicells which is one of the most fun parts of the game. as well as the legendary weapons you can obtain from the keystone behemoths, which are essentially bosses, all with their own unique ability that can range from, an AOE revive, rewinding time, falling from the sky like a meteor, and a bunch of other things. and thats not even mentioning the fact that you can change your weapons in ways to change the playstyle completely, like the sword alone can either be a basic sword with an upgraded form, spin to win, or a counter weapon depending on what. and the mod system that adds a lot of depth to the weapons depending on your play style. and the unique weapons that have their own unique skills tied to that weapon alone.
    Dauntless just suffers in the early game, which is where most people drop it. But most of what the game has to offer is in late game. like the keystone behemoths, in the escalations, or the raid boss-like monster, The Chronovore. they tried to expand the early game content by adding savhit, but I feel like most MH players that try it usually quit before reaching Aulric's peak. It's been one of my biggest issues with the game for a while ngl.
    But if I have to be completely honest, this is a great video, my biggest pet peeve with most of the reviews of the game is that they're done by either people that compare it too harshly to Monster Hunter, or have barely played the game enough to criticize it's systems properly (not naming any names but hollow from Ragegaming's video about the game was kind of annoying because Josh and Cotton are more fitting to review dauntless considering they're way farther than him in the game and are actually grinding in the endgame 💀). but good vid nonetheless.

    Tried playing it but the thing that made me quit really is how the UI looked and how they designed the area you fight in. I prefer exploring or chasing monsters around specially scaling really high zones. I never felt any of that in Dauntless. Also the UI. Made me feel like I'm playing mobile games for some reason.
