Calvinist brothers and sisters in Christ, I am not a Calvinist. While I respect an element of predestination, I am curious about how the story of Jonah fits into Calvinism. God told Jonah that He would destroy the city of Ninevah (and I don't think that God lies). Yet, when the people of Ninevah repented upon hearing the message brought by Jonah, God relented and spared them from the destruction that He said he would bring on them. What is the Calvinist point of view on God changing His mind? If God can change His mind (as I believe He can from passages like Jonah) then isn't it wrong to write off those who were not born into the elect? Alternatively, if you are against the viewpoint that God changes His mind, why? Thank you!
