I was there that night. My friend and I were the only people jumping and dancing so the bass player ran up to our side of the stage and danced with us. It sounded unbelievable.
This is amazing. It should have been released on a Blu-Ray or something with official audio and video

I just listened to the version by The Hold Steady, and now with this.....I never thought the harmonica on this song could be matched, but I guess it just took some trumpets and a sax. The overall vibe of the song is helped by the fact that the performers here are clearly having a blast doing it.
This video doesn't do it justice. I was there in Camden and this was the finale with all the acts. It was FANTASTIC and one of the best shows I've been too, and I've been to mmmaaaaaaany concerts since 1977.

This is a really good cover, they've done the song justice, personally I don't think it can beat Bruce's own New York live experience. But it's incredible all the same.

I laughed to myself once while Bruce was playing on the radio. One of the major news stations ATTEMPTED to discredit Bruce by highlighting his wealth as if it divorced him from his well founded appreciation.
Literally said out loud, "I dare you to stand on a bar at the end of a night in New Jersey and yell, 'F@#$ Bruce!' and watch what happens.
So...yes, they did own this song. But, I wouldn't yell it at a bar in Jersey. Lol!
Here's a "Rare Hidden Gem!" I only knew one Mumford Song and have set up two huge concerts for them in Calgary, two years in a row now. So, I thought I'de check them out! This is on of my Favourite,"Springsteen Songs," and this is a very impressive cover! It even makes me want to rock out, on my Accordion! I didn't get the other girls name, but she is an up and coming, "Chrissie Hynde,"

It's hard to knock Bruce bit levon has more stirring version. This one's flat
Bruce was 31 when he wrote this. The band are all in their mid to late 20’s here. Not making an argument either way for the quality of the cover but I don’t think age is necessarily a factor. Then again Levon was in his 50’s when he covered it.
best band on the planet and i love all music from biggie to led zeppelin but these are so diverse from folk to rock they wear the crown .its a shame i havnt been able to listen to most of my music since the split with the ex but im taking my music back AND IT DONT HURT NO MORE
The girl who sang the 2nd verse is from Haim. And they are gaining popularity.
Doesn't give her the right to add words to a song. No different than when the Foo Fighters, as good as they are, changed lyrics in their cover of Baker Street by Gerry Rafferty.

A cover is a different take on the song... I don't see what's the difference between changing the musical arrangement and changing the lyrics. You don't need to listen to it if you don't like it. Different versions can only enrich the overall legacy of a particular song.

a) Townes Van Zandt is dead. Good luck getting tickets to *his* next concert.
b) Bruce Springsteen was only a few years older than these kids were when he wrote this song and was probably already five times as rich.
c) They’re smiling because they’re doing a Springsteen song *in* New Jersey. That would make anybody in rock & roll giddy. Get off their ass.

Not bad, but I prefer Justin Townes Earle's version.
This cover isn't bad, it's just boring. If you're going to cover an icon at least bring something new to the table. Apart from the soloing this sounds like they tried to copy Springsteen's version to the note. Going through the motions doesn't make it a good cover.
+MuppetsFan1 Mumford has done a much more stripped down version of the song. You should check it out if you haven't already. I disagree though, the cover was meant to be a tribute (They were playing in New Jersey), not something they should make their own.

Ok cover, bruce springsteen mostly mumble the song really can't here what he was saying when singing, but no one does it better than the "BAND"

THE ORIGINAL IS BY THE BAND CALLED "THE BAND", NOT BY THE BOSS.
Springsteen wrote the original and released it in 1982...it was covered by The Band in 1993.
It's a THE BAND COVER..THEY made the song a classic
