Dude I couldn’t agree more
Honestly that would be soooo good
That would be awesome
Yeah
Yes more trail building !!!!!!!!!!!
Lewie Gray I agree
Same bro
That looks like the nicest dirt EVER!
looks like 80% sand
Yeah I’ve never seen such beautiful dirt
Same bro!
Like no roots
And no rocks
can we expect a whole trail building series??
Charles Hazen yes!!!!!!!!
I was actually building yesterday and I messed up on a berm this helped a lot
I was just piling up dirt on the side where I wanted it to be but then when I rode it all just washed out it was too soft
I love trail building nearly as much as riding and although I know how to build a berm, I like seeing how Blake does it and it might help me in doing something different! Also, trail building videos are satisfying af! Nice one guys
Gonna replace the stairs in my house with a berm
Migatron1 hahaha 😆
How about a double
Into a berm
And then a step up
Stick a little tabletop in there aswell
Find you someone that loves you like Blake loving on his shovel.
Perfect timing! Just resumed trail building after winter while off school!
I think I speak for everyone when I say I love trail building... please make more!
Gonna head to my local spot to do some trail building whilst I’m off the next couple of weeks! A shovel and bike is all I need 😎
A Dan and His Bike and approval
Little trail tip here, I’ve been trail building for 6 years now and this style of berm is great, easy to build, neat, fast, solid berm. Except if you live in a wet area or mild weather area these will become a bunch of little tiny ponds. So another more time consuming method is getting dirt from elsewhere or from the backside of the corner if you don’t mind a bit of an eyesore and build the berm on top of the ground with a drainage pipe in the middle. This makes a reliable longer lasting all year round berm👍
This is good info right here! Always have somewhere for water to go to so it gets out of your way
im not first
but im not last
but when gmbn post
i click the vid and like fast
You've got corn on your nose
I'm in quaretine and Blake is the only thing keeping me entertained with amazing videos, keep it up bro
That dirt looks sooh good to work with! I wish we had that here in the middle east, we have a stubborn mix of rock and dry sand in the desert over here. Good job Blake, the berm looks rad!
June was
Thanks for giving entertainment in these crazy times keeping me from going crazy
I love the idea of featuring a bunch more trail building here
That dirt looks soft and sandy, our local trails are like concrete to dig! lol
That means once there built they’ll stay together and need less maintenance.
Mines hard to dig, much more ‘grassy’ and wet like permanently wet
@@benjamind165 same.
This is perfect timing. Finally got some rain and our dirt is impossible to work with when dry. Got some fast flow trails with awful flat 180 turns, they need berms!
Genuinely impressed with how well that turned out. Making the proper arc, slope, and height is an art form! Folks should keep in mind that Blake has clearly been doing this for a long time, and it's not as easy as it looks! I usually have to tweet and re-shape features a bunch before they work this well.
What's an arc
A problem with digging down is that you often create a water-trap. If available one should use tree-logs for support and dig them 1/3 into the ground.
I love Blake's energy. It always gets me stoked.
“Like icing the cake”. Cool stuff Blake!
Blake has a personality of a very wild and energetic dog, what an awesome dude 🤘🏼
I wish I had dirt that good 😭
Same
Same, here in Southern Colorado we have more fine rocky dirt.
Wyatt Cornelius at least you guys have got elevation. I’m out here in Illinois 😂
@@ewan_mclean I second that. Not much elevation in Louisiana either. Lol
Here central mexico dirt gets really hard when is not raining.....and when it rains it turns to mud ._.
Me and my friends found a perfect spot for building! This will really help! I ride BMX and I love MTB.
Will definitely be using this technique in the future. Thanks Blake!!!
Thank you so much Blake! If been building jumps for 2 years now bit I’ve never built a berm so I’m going to try it at the weekend
Great guy, great filming, great editing, PROPER JOB🤙.that soil looks good to work with aswell!
This came at a perfect time! I was already planing on a burm run in my backyard (1/2 acre free and clear). Since I saw this video the other day I made 3, with about 3 to go. Thinking of a wall ride at the bottom... hint hint... next video? lol.
Thanks a million!
Best part of the video was with the romance with the spade. Thanks Blake for the jump and berm vids, been trying to make a couple at home for me and my son to practice. All the best for the rest of the 2020, PEACE!
Surely Blake's most inspirational and entertaining video. But I say that about all of them!
Thank you Blake, I am actually building a berm now and I needed that wideo!
Remember to look at the slope of the land and take into consideration where water will go (and come from!) when it rains. When water flows into the trough of a berm, it brings sand or dirt with it, which becomes a constant maintenance issue... So when designing or planning a berm, stand back and envision where the water will go when it's flowing.
This is probably valid for most everywhere - but especially important where the soil is very sandy.
Blake makes my day “hello you beautiful people” fills me with joy and for the rest of the day I pass it on. Thank you Blake for you support and joy you give us all
I see Blake Samson I click like
thank you gmbn I built this berm yesterday and it is so good
blake is literally a mood.
I live on an old farm with my dad siblings and grandparents. My grandfather said as long as he cant see it and it cant be seen from the road I'm all set. So been doing exactly what Blake told me not to do, just go right the way into the woods and start digging lol
Thanks for the video I’m going to build a mountain bike trail/pump track for my neighborhood because I got permission
And I love mountain biking
I'm off to buy a spade!!!! Great vid dude 🤘🤘🔥
Came here for Blake. I was not disappointed.
Love these types of videos on trail building
Excellent work and build tutorial!! With some things, ya just gotta roll your sleeves up and make it happen!! Good job!!
LMFAO 15 min to do that where I live would be more like 15 hrs lol.
Yeah the dirt at our trails is so bad. Its like a chalky sticky soil😂😂
So true😂
nice vid lads
Great one ☝️, just build a new one yesterday on our secret trails 🤪🤘
same!!
I'll give you that Blake that is a lovely place to build. My trail is located on the side of a 22degree hill. As you can imagine it's a lot of work to build anything. Im fourteen man, its a lot o work
MTBDREAM it’s an unrealistically nice place to build
@@benjamind165 I agree
Man your diet is so goooood mine is full of rocks like so many rocks and some roots I have to sift all the rocks out
Bro eats rocks 😂😂😂
Excellent, great tips for my 1st berm - thanks!
Just been down at the local woods building another line to ride (there is quite a few already) this video gave me some great inspiration for how to do the berms :D
Yesterday I am looked on TH-cam for a video how to build a berm and today you drop this video thanks a lot
So strange lol
Helped me fix up my burn really improve it and made It easier to ride on
did your burn hurt?
This really helped me a lot! Thanks GMBN !
I tend to use wood and logs underneath the dirt to make berms , however this is still a good method. Good video!
Making a whole new trail rn, so sick
Great tips, thanks just built my first berm today.
Loved the video i started bbuilding a mtb track yesterday i have a pit and a dirt jump im watching at 11:30 at night so i am so excited to get building tommorow
More Blake trail builds !!!!
Blake should have his own feature building channel
cant wait to watch this lads dont need to watch to need to like the video
Same
Thank you so much, i have build a great berm today!
Love this video! Really well done.
I love this dirt
That dirt is so soft! We have to dig through hard clay in Texas! Love the vid 🤙
i love blake always make me happy
Blake the Builder, a show I'd watch
Your work is amazing you inspire me so much to go out and make a compleat track
"Needs more of.. Blake's weight!" Love you! :D
Yesss! Learned a thing or two from this. INSPIRED! Blake, you’re the bees knees 👍🏻🤪
The deer have taken a liking to one of my berms, need to keep fixing it but the other three are pretty solid and well packed.
that berm looks so good
Oh man I wish my local dirt was that easy to dig!
Tru Gear Review MTB. SAME
Thanks. That'll help a lot
blake, you should come ride here in South Africa plz
I heard he is from Zim!
@@Dawa202 yea I know
The_ Phoenixx I would LOVE TOO boet
@@Zimblake Whaaaat, I'm like so star struck right now, you are in my top 3 fav riders of all time
D Villiers I was born in Zim.
Thanks for these tipps 🤙👍
Good stuff Blake!!!!
Nice job Blake I was headed out to build one today 👍
If you have a water source near by, watering in the berm will make it compact faster. Use just enough water that the soil can absorb. I like to water, let dry for an hour or two and then tamp.
Slap n slide technique 13:05 is key to shaping.
But wear ear protection, especially if stoney ground.
That’s some heavenly dirt right there
Impressed with your tips. Wanna make one in Kandy, Sri Lanka.
Blake the Architecture !!!
In NY if you use dirt from less than 1 ft below the surface, you might as well use potting soil
I really needed this video, I’m trying to make a small track in my back yard
Upload it when you’re done
Kkkk I will it should be soon, possibly by Monday
Please more trailbuilding videos 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Hopefully sometime soon!
Been out building last 2 weeks made 2 nice smooth small jump lines but needs a berm at bottom to continue line. I'll try tomorrow 👍
That dirt is 🔥🔥😍
Very good tips 👍
Awesome video!
Thank you I was just wanted to build a berm and thank to you now I can do it
Trail building vids are the best
Blake needs his own TV show.. like a whole mountain bike movie where he acts wild
I actually built a berm with some mates a few days ago, took about 7 hours total tho, we had to remove loads of roots
Near me we are really lucky. There is a woods near by which me and my friends have been allowed to build trails in It's so sick
what about drainage? any tips?
how i usually do it is by making the inside of the berms quite deep and dig a slight slope into them. Then when you are about 1m to 1,5m away from the actual berm, or rather the line you would ride (think of it like you wouldnt ride the berm at the bottom and usually not at the very top but instead quite central), just dig a trench that is about a spade (real one, Blake is using a shovel in the vid :D) in depth and width and follows the curve of the berm.
Now what happens when it rains is that the water will land on the berm, flow to the bottom due to the slope and finally be collected in the trench but because we have it about a 1m/1,5m away from our line, it shoudnt get too soggy.
Keep in mind though, that I used this technique for a dirtjump spot where everything was flat and if it rained heavily it was not rideable.
If you are building a berm on the side of a hill you could likely do the same thing as above but just put one to three tubes below the berm which feed from the trench and go out the back of the berm so that the water is cleared that way. But I havent tried that one yet so not sure how good that works!
Yes more building
Holy hell That soil is so nice! Nothing but rock and gravel in my backyard lol
Thanks so convenient I need to build a berm at my jumps and I need to know how to do it properly
Lots places u can't easily or don't want to dig down...so u can use fallen logs etc as a structure you then peg, and then put dirt against.
