I was thinking the same thing, I was thinking a whale tail, but a shark fin instead of it being straight. So like a whale tail berm? That would be really cool.
Drainage idea: at the bottom of that bowl drill a hole and put like a metal sheet with lots of holes in it cover it up a little. All the water should go into the hole but if you make it to small itll overflow
Matt, idk if this'll help but Seth from Seth's Bike Hacks has used a mechanical packing tool for a couple of his builds... That might help you get stuff done faster 👍🏻
a wacker plate would work but a mechanical one wouldn't work with the British soil because its so tacky it would stick to the machine too much like in one of seths videos when he used more of a clay like soil. Good idea with he wacker tho
@@jackscheffel1509 i think they may have one at woburn for the jumps but thats sand not clay, plus idk if matt will be able to get his hands on one with the lock down now :(
doing the same exact thing! Throwing a couple doubles and a left handed shark fin over my moms rose garden🚵♂️ Cheers from the US! Love your videos you’re a legend! “Bruv”
Can’t wait to see what this field looks like at the end, you should get a dirt compactor rent/buy would make it a million times easier for all those jumps
Back when my life revolved around riding BMX I spent summers on summers building up the trails in my back yard. Grass/shrubs/moss are a game changer in terms of maintenance. When you plan your next feature, if you cut the grass into cubes and dig out the grass in the general area of your feature before laying down new dirt you can put the grass aside and when the feature is finished you can place the grass down on the sides and backs of your feature. This allows for keeping good moisture and it helps for the stability of the dirt. You've got a killer space and I'm pumped to see the progress!
First time I ever watched mat was when this popped up in my recommended when it came out been hooked ever since this was the prime of lockdown love your content bro keep it up
Collecting the dirt with Sam was filmed over a week ago but I didn't make enough digging progress for a full video. I should have explained that in the video. Ben has moved in with me
Looks cool dude carnt wait to see what you do along the way. :) you should make a jump over a burn then as you land you go straight into the berm you just jumped over (your jumping over your future self)
And maybe later in the track you can build a similar feature to the one that was at crankworx. A jump into 270 berm where you go under where you jumped over
@@harleyjai6539 i feel like on a non mtbing (well non sport in general) people would say something like: "it's called a toilet bowl you idiot get it right" just to start an argument so it's nice to see stuff like this😅
Matt mate absolutely loving the content recently. If I were you I would build the jump and everything around the edge of your land so you have a full track and loads of space in the middle. Keep up the great work
Finally. I have been waiting for you to start this. Just build what you want and be creative, just please please keep it going I need this in my life ATM.
Its a 3 meters long jump into a angled landing that leads directly into a 90 degree berm. So you probably jump into the berm. At the end of the berm there's a small sharkfin. The best of this feature is, thatbyou can generate a lot of speed when you pump the jumps and the berm
I am so excited for this project!!!! Please keep making videos like this! I think you should make mix of dirt and wood features, like wooden rollers and jumps.
Please please please keep these coming, lockdown is hardcore and these edits are helping. Hats off to you. Maybe an S berm after the first hip to generate more speed for the next bigger feature?
Soo stoked for this series! 🤘 Spending my days digging some jump lines to contain my sanity during the day... And watching trail building videos at night 👌
'self isolation is important' unless you need to build a jump and get 1 of your mates to help you sat on his lap in his tractor then to top it off you invite ben round on multiple days to help you build.... i love you matt but practice what you preach bro 🤦♂️DONT MEET UP WITH PEOPLE YOU DONT LIVE WITH #STAYATHOME

hey, matt i’ve watched ever single one of the lockdown trail builds and i just finished watching the 1st one after watching the last one and you’ve made so much producers 🤘🏼
Big left berm in the corner where the wooden ramp was laying to generate massive speed further down the line :D Keep the great content going, lots for me to learn in these diggin' vids
I'd reccomend using some used cooking oil to help pack and keep the ramps together if you can get your hands on some. We use it on RC tracks to pack to dirt down to keep it smooth and in place
Triangle style course, Large hip roll in into 2 jumps berm left into a 3 way, right sends you into a quarter, straight sends you into a double, left sends you into a right banking shark fin. The 4th jump has a dirt spinebuilt between the gap. One more jump and you can hip the roll in or ride up it.
Hey Matt, you asked us to give you ideas for different jumps so me and all my mate decided on a whale tale we all think it would be sick and give you a lot of opportunities for later videos. Thanks Matt keep it up 🤟🏽
Really good video! Can’t wait for the rest of the series. I think that after the first take off you should put a reverse shark fin into a berm round the small corner just after the take off like there was in dark fest. Loving the new intro by the way!
can't wait until its finished gonna be so sick, i think a gator pit into a massive lip step up trick jump which sends you to the moon. Something like the darkfest step up but on a much smaller scale but enough air so you can back flip and hopefully 1080
Hopefully this isn't to late but I cant help sharing my vision for the line: Make the hipped landing also a berm, curving to the right staying along the shrubs to save space in the yard, also saving space for more lines in the future. Coming out of the berm is a little berm transfer gap. It would be sick to make a left 90 degree left hip once you get to the corner. These types of features would be smaller and flowy saving dirt and space, providing early variety and speed for possibly bigger jumps along the line.
Dear Matt. I recommend you to use a rose in yours watering can. It helps a lot to dose proper amount of water for building and watering jumps before ride.
Some wood features would save you quite a lot of time! And I'd love to see shark fin cause it's not something we often see on trails! Have fun building it! I'll personally go back to my cave to wait the lockdown to end in front of my jump bike...
I just came back to this after he has started releasing the re-build series, and I will now re-watch this entire series because it brought back so many memories
There should be a split line so when you do a train of riders some can split off and do a different couple of jumps and then come back into the main line.. It would look so cool... Loving to videos every time I watch them makes me want to build my bikes back up and get out there again.. Keep it up mate keep safe.. Cheers Carl martin
After the right hip jump you can build some rollers or table tops. Then you can build a left shark fin jump to turn the jump line left. That would be sick🤟
You should build a berm that goes through the gap of a trick jump. You can get some sick shots of someone roosting the berm while someone else flips over them.
Build a wooden roll in structure to get speed
Great idea!
yeah, I was wondering why he didnt do that in the first place.
Yes!!!
Insane idea!!!!
Ben Macpherson lets gooooo
Feature Idea: A shark fin since the one at Woburn never worked out.
Techy Bikes also he should build a whale tail
I was thinking the same thing, I was thinking a whale tail, but a shark fin instead of it being straight. So like a whale tail berm? That would be really cool.
build a jump that has the landing under ground level (sort of like a dirt bowl) then you jump out the other side
Kiwi mtb Brown good idea but that presents drainage issue living in England that will fill up and be unrideable most of the time
Good idea I think you could put a burm landing and then do that awesome
That would be sick
Drainage idea: at the bottom of that bowl drill a hole and put like a metal sheet with lots of holes in it cover it up a little. All the water should go into the hole but if you make it to small itll overflow
Borrow old mate and get him in an excavator dig a trench run a Polly and one of those drains they recess into concrete and Bob's ya mothers brother

this series fed me life during lockdown. thank you so much matt you're such a good person!!!!
You should make a split line where the 1st jump is
Yea that would be amazing
Replying so e sees this
A hip to the right or Something like that
It definitely has to split somewhere. So there's more than one option, especially if it leads into bigger features!
Yea that would be amazing
Ah the good old days 😔
Matt, idk if this'll help but Seth from Seth's Bike Hacks has used a mechanical packing tool for a couple of his builds... That might help you get stuff done faster 👍🏻
Jack Scheffel a walker plate I think
Waker plate

bro i loved this series
Have the 'impossible' feature, like a step up to skinny, double height roller etc
that would be crazy, imagine how nervous you would be on every single run
Just started rewatching the series
you should build a whale's tail or a wooden on/ off feature
You could also build a big wall ride
harrison murphy wooden features wood be cool
Whale Tails are rad!! That needs to happen, thanks bro!

Self isolation is important unless you need Sam's tractor and piles of dirt...
And Ben to film it
so true...
Not exactly modelling good practice.
At least the rollers are more than 2 metres apart!
Collecting the dirt with Sam was filmed over a week ago but I didn't make enough digging progress for a full video. I should have explained that in the video. Ben has moved in with me

@killian toner haha I just came from that vid aswell lol looked like such a fun feature

Haha seths bike hacks lmao
And maybe later in the track you can build a similar feature to the one that was at crankworx. A jump into 270 berm where you go under where you jumped over

Yeah the toilet bowl! I'll need more speed but that's an awesome idea. Hopefully I can get more dirt delivered to help build the larger features

I think a "grave" hole with a stepdown in and kicker out would be cool
Decided to watch this lockdown series again from the beginning. Needs must!
A step up - step down in that corner would be pretty sweet. It would also help build speed.
I'm so stoked for this. I'm building my own track and this will be fun to get ideas and see what happens with all that BLANK CANVAS!
I'd love to see a jump into a berm and a sharkfin out. Have one of these at my local spot and it rides great👌🏻
do you jump into it and out of it again straight away? That would feel so cool once I'm going fast
Its a 3 meters long jump into a angled landing that leads directly into a 90 degree berm. So you probably jump into the berm. At the end of the berm there's a small sharkfin. The best of this feature is, thatbyou can generate a lot of speed when you pump the jumps and the berm
