Breathtaking scenery. We're headed there next week and appreciate the footage. We're not doing the full loop (not going over Texas Pass, stopping at Lonesome Lake). We might take that side trip to Deep Lake though. First trip of this kind for us and we live at 900 ft so going to do what we can over 5 days in the backcountry.

What a great hike, thanks for sharing. I especially like you name all the lakes so that I have an idea what to look for. I am planning to go there but not the loop. Is there any place to camp just blow the Jackass Pass on Day 1 instead of Big Sandy Lake. Then submit Jackass Pass on day 2 then back down to Trailhead.

Hi, I would say your best bet is to find a place around North Lake. Probably where the trail drops close to the lake or right before it drops. I am not 100% positive as I did not look for a camp site while I was going though North Lake heading to Jackass Pass, but I think there is a pretty good chance you find a spot for a tent around there. Enjoy the Winds.
