Great video and supplemental info. 2 things I would like, are your pack weights since you listed the pack inventory, and your moms cheezy fundito burrito frecipe.....
I just did the 3-day Texas Pass-Cirque-Jackass Pass loop and I wish I had seen this video earlier. What an awesome route, and doing it with your mom -- priceless! Also, great video skills! Thanks for posting this.
Jon, this is an unbelievable video! Absolutely gorgeous footage, super filmic, perfect cuts and timing ... So we're going to do this trip in 2 weeks; we'll let you know how it goes! Best wishes!!
Well, I'm just in the middle of the video while writing this comment and I have to say that you've done a great job! I'm talking about the quality of the picture and camera work, nice voiceover, infographics. Overall, it's really great content you make! And I also enjoyed the information given. Have to say that this is the very first video of yours that I've seen. Keep it up. :)
Thanks for sharing! Spent a summer back in college studying in Laramie, and fortunate to do a 40-day backpacking trip in the Winds. Hardest thing I've ever done physically and mentally, but one of the most rewarding. The wind river range is no joke - unmatched beauty and can go days without seeing anyone in certain areas.
Ya they're tough. Hardest one I've done so far. On the 4th day crossing Hailey Pass the wind was lifting my Mom, steep drops on the side of her. I didn't capture it too well because I needed my hands. Ended up taking some stuff off her and tying a rope around each other. It was rough. But super fun too!!! 😂 You understand.
Your mom is awesome! Kudos to her! I hope to get out there soon; subract some miles and add more fishing. WRR doesn't seem to need much protection at this time. It's out there and it's rugged. This isn't RMNP, amirite?! Thanks for sharing your adventure!
Linked the south buttress of Pingora with the wolfs head traverse last year. Best trip of the year. I always tell people that even if you don't climb, this place is worth seeing. Part of what makes it great is the commitment it takes to get there. Mostly only people who love nature go out there and because of that you don't have to see trash on the ground and swarms of people.
Wow! What beautiful way to document the adventure you & your mom had while hiking the Wind River Range. Agree! This is some of the most spectacular nature scenery in the US! Great job capturing it! Enjoyed the sunset to astrophotography. This area is definitely on the top of our must hike list. Found your channel while visiting Idaho a few weeks ago. Watched your Alice Lake video prior to hiking it and found it to be helpful in knowing what to expect. Thank you! 👍
Jon! I’m such a fan, love your videos, but this one by far is my fave. The Cirque was my very first backpacking trip. Ever. And came to it right after moving from sea level (Olympia) to Laramie. Go big or go home, right? Yes, my friend. The wind. Holy crap the wind. That was almost 30 years ago, but after watching your video we are so doing this this year. And oh yeah, the bears. Thanks for all your inspiration. Hope to see you on a trail or somewhere around town- Boise is home now. Cheers!
My wife and I just backpacked to the cirque in September this year as well. I think we had better weather though, but it still kicked our ass haha. Sending love for the awesome channel from Idaho Falls.
I think we had "good" weather? It's all relative up there. We only had rain once, but the wind was wild. I assume that's normal since they're named the Wind River Range.
Well made! I often tire of people talking a lot on hiking videos but you are so handsome and entertaining I enjoy it. Here is a tip for the only flaw in your film. Put a yellow postit note on your gopro lens and focus your eyes on it. You were always looking to the left. Other than that, it was first rate. I am subscribing. I do videos myself... not hiking though. I do talks.
I've backpacked and camped in the Winds a number of times with my brother and my cousin. Before that I attended the Wind River Wilderness Camp when I was in Jr. High School many years ago. My understanding is that there are Grizzly Bears in the northern part of the Winds, is this true? Or are they only further north towards Jackson Hole and Yellowstone?
@@JonConti I am in McCall Idaho and a bunch of us have our own rafts. It is a permit system during the summer but we usually float it late Sept or early October after permit season. 4 days usually from the dam to Pittsburg Landing. Couple class 3-4 and several class 3-2 rapids. The Small mouth bass fly fishing is awesome. There are several outfitters that you can go with as well.
Great video 👍 does you mum have a TH-cam channel? 😁 I’m super inspired by her. As life kicks my ass with a life threatening illness, it’s very motivating to see such strong women. My dream is to be fit and do such hikes even when I’m really old and that dream is really getting tested right now. It’s uplifting to see her be ‘a boss’. 👍😊
Just found your channel. Great content and editing. I’m still learning how to do this video documentary. What time in Sept did you go? I’m thinking of heading out in early Sept.
I saw you guys had campfires. I looked up Cirque of the towers and it said you can't have campfires. Planning this trip or the teton crest trail in august/sept time frame. What are your thougths on which trial?
When we went you could have campfires. I think it was October? I know during the hot months they aren't allowed. Never done the Teton crest trail. Sounds cool, do them both!
I enjoyed your video! Our family has been going to the Wind Rivers and the Green River Lakes since the 1940's. I made a video describing my family's history with this beautiful area of the world.
The hunger out there is no joke! 😂It's not like I stop and have lunch and most of the time I don't even eat breakfast. It's like two granola bars & coffee for 12 miles with a pack through that place. I just went with some guys on a 26-mile and one guy from Austria was with us. He would stop and cook full on meals on the trail and the rest of us looked at him like "what are doing?" He was like "In the Alps we eat constantly." It's like o ya, we're the crazy ones. 😀
List of Mom's backpacking gear along with the trip itinerary can be found in the description. How to Hike Livestream Wednesday at 7:00pm.

Wow - rivals Idaho’s Sawtooth. A must!
No doubt!
Awesome filming Jon! Your mom was a fun addition to this video!
Thanks!

You took Mom again! Good for you! Your videos are without a doubt a visual delight.
Yep took Mom again 😀

Love your content. You have a serious knack for storytelling and cinematography.

Love your videos man, just randomly found you, wish I could do things like this with my mom!
Thanks James!

@@JonConti You are welcome, Jon. I come from the Czech Republic, the middle of Europe, do you know the country? :)
Really loved the video! You got great. Story telling skills. Winds are tough to beat! Need to get out there in the fall sometime!

Excellent video. Thanks for sharing! I am hoping to do this next summer, and appreciate the information.
Great video! Beautiful editing. So cool you got to see the Cirque with your mom.
Great video. Awesome trip for you and your mom. More people should get off the couch and do this.
Amen
Cinematic! Love it. Great shots, great views! Looks like an epic adventure. I'm headed there end of June and look forward to sharing my adventure too!
Thanks mate have fun ✌️
Love this video!!! I’ve watched it a few times now. Following your itinerary! And go mom!!
Well put together video. Big props!!!
Thanks
What beautiful cinema photography! Congrats on making it back alive after that encounter with the bear.
Thanks!
Nice job ! Hi mom ! Love the Winds it’s a beautiful place. Merry Christmas
Hell yeah🤘incredible mountains!
✌️
Your mom is a trooper!
Wow, amazing views. I am adding that trip to my bucket list. Thank you both for inspiring me.

Love your video 😍😍
+1 for loving Schitt's Creek!
Sweet some one picked up on that!
Nice filming and editing, not to mention the windy adventure! Props to your mom and dog for following you on this. Or perhaps you followed them?
Thanks Tom! I was the navigator but the dog is incredible. I think he just uses his nose and follows the scent path. He knew every turn before I did.
Another great video.
Thanks man! Appreciate it ✌
great video of you and your mom and the cute dog

👍👍 Great footage, man. Beautiful saturation. Did you grade it?
Ya I shoot in slog so it all has to be graded. Every video always gets a slightly different grade so they're all unique
@@JonConti the extra effort really comes through. 👍
I have floated it but never hiked it. Great place for early season hike. Did you try fishing for small mouth bass at all?
How did you float it that sounds rad! Just float the green river? I didn't try fishing for bass, only trout. I don't really have a bass setup yet.

Any chance you can post your mom's burrito recipe, that looks awesome.
Do you have a recipe for the cheesy burritos?

Did that burrito really disappear in three bites? Nice to have mom to cook for you. And I will be the first to say it. Your mom is a STUD-ETTE…..

Truth in advertising... they called it the Winds for a reason.
Excuse my language but fuck yea! Them words at the end, thanks so much, just go out and find out for yourself 👊 Tu Mamá though 👏 👏 ♥
😂 your language is fucking excused 👊✌️
Beautiful hike, but kind of boring video.
Kudos to mom and yourself for getting out there.
What did you want car chases and explosions?
