Diggin' your videos. I recently decided to start selling the cards I collected as a kid from the seventies into the early eighties. A lot of Baseball, Football and movie cards including the original runs of Star Wars, Close Encounters, Empire Strikes back and more. Just loading them all into my eBay store now. I got the bug though, already bought some "newer" cards from various spots and got some of those in my store. Really enjoying getting back into collecting.
Right now, I am currently buying out collections at my shop. But I love going to shows and picking up stuff from value boxes. That’s really how it started for me.
@@bobcanbeatyou I go looking for them at tag sales, flea markets and so on. But most of the time, people come to my shop and ask me if I buy cards. So they bring in their collection and then I go through it it with them, make a fair offer and most of the time I end up getting it.
A lot of what you talk about in this video, I have adopted or figured out myself. I really need to buy some collections but I can't seem to find any. Great video as always my man!
I like cherry picking in bulk at shows; recently bought 90+ cards of Brady, MJ, Kobe & Jeter for $120 & 7 cards so far total $90+ so I called that a win. Solid value provided in this episode, keep em' comin'!
I have snagged some good lots on eBay and Facebook as well. You have to be patient for sure. My favorite is still to bargain box dig at card shows. A lot of times though, I now go to shows to set up and makes it harder to go around and buy.😂I actually track my lot purchases on a spreadsheet where I record the cards I list from it and track the purchase price vs net sale price to track when I break even then see what I make as a profit on it. Fits my spreadsheet nerdism along with my collecting nerdism🤓. Thanks again for the insight and advice once again brother!🤙🏻
Love your videos. Just getting back into cards after I sold most of my collection for $15 total several years ago. The game sure has changed since I used to collect.
JMac I sure learn a lot from you. I have started my EBay business and have made to 100 plus listings so far. I watch your videos and always learn something. Keep up the good work man. Thanks for sharing
Great video! I honestly thought that was Mike McCarthy in the thumbnail for a sec! Anyway, another idea is to go on a forum like Blowout Cards and just let people know you’re willing to spend, say, 75% of comps. You will probably get sarcastic comments like “wow, so generous!” but you will also be surprised how many people are ok with selling at that discount.
JMac thanks for the shoutout! Glad I could buy the Lidstrom card from you! He is one of my all time favorites! Adding to my Red Wings collection! Great job as always!
I have a huge collection of sports cards (tens of thousands). All from 2016 to current. In football, basketball and baseball. If you would be interested, let me know. I literally have an entire bedroom dedicated to storing them all and would really just like to make room. They are taking over, LOL!!! I have always organized them well and kept them in great condition. Barely dipped my toes into ebay selling and it is tedious and painful to sit and do card after card. I have way too many great ones. I just don't have it in me to spend that kind of time on. I am starting to sell on the Whatnot platform, hoping it goes well, yet to tell. I know the value in them, and I also know you have to make a profit as well. Anyway, just let me know. Nice video as well.
Love the hat! I just found your channel today and I’m loving ur content it’s extremely helpful for myself trying to get off the ground with all my cards. Thank you
Cool video thanks for the information. I’m a collector, but I’d like to get into reselling at some point. I bought a few things on Facebook marketplace and it was a nightmare 😂
Glad to hear I’m not the only one who thinks only maybe one or two collections found on Facebook marketplace are worth it. I’ve only gotten three in the last year. First two were worth it but nothing super insane. Second one was a little better. And this last one was the most expensive. 2k but had three Jalen hurts raw auto RCs in there. That was a lot of money back instantly. Still haven’t gone through the whole lot so hoping it pans out.
I tried FB once. Bought two boxes of basketball cards from a guy, Venmo'd him the money. Even asked him to email me a letter stating intend to send me what I was asking for. A receipt basically. He got the money, never sent the boxes.
Your awesome man. There is a big card show coming up June 10th at mohegan sun casino, in Connecticut. I know that's a long way, but it's a beautiful casino, and going to be an awesome show. Would love to meet you.
My ebay store is extremely similar to yours with ~13k listings. I enjoy your videos and we may bump into each other as I’m down in Florida and hit all sorts of shows in the south.
That’s awesome, yeah love meeting other sellers that are hitting it hard. I talked to a couple this weekend at the local show I went to, definitely say hi if you see me and we will chop it up and talk shop!
For anything that is not junk wax, do you list it in your store using CDP even if it is a common? Or, do you have certain criteria for things that get scanned in? I don't have that trained eye yet so it takes me forever to see if an item is worth it. I have a collection I bought that has alot of junk wax, but also alot before 86 and after 93. I was thinking anything that isn't junk wax I would scan. But, if it was in 86 to 93 I would only look for RC or HOF cards. The rest I would sell as lots. Is that a good strategy ?
How concerned are you with card condition when buying collections? I see mostly loose cards in boxes and binders. Is their condition going to be good enough to resell? Thanks
What do you do when you feel overwhelmed with how much unlisted inventory you have. I have close to 25,000 cards and list 10-20 a day and just feel super overwhelmed.
Macro sort/organize the unlisted inventory as best you can. By sport first so you can decide which sport you want start with depending on current demand. Then find the boxes that look like honey holes and start there. While you are posting the honey hole box fill a new box with commons that are not worth much to deal with later. Also find and make sets to move multiple cards at once. Rinse and repeat.
Jason, what things do you look for in cards when sourcing? Certain sets, years, sports, players??? I find cards I like, everyone already has. What's hot changes daily, and many cards are over produced. I focus more on graded cards, I don't have the space time to store bulk cards and sell dollar cards. I don't bother with yard sales or estate sales, they are mobbed with collectors and usually want too much money. Have you done any self storage auctions? I'm glad you mentioned finding a good card in a dud lot. I have had that happen several times, often its hard to come up with an accurate price and its not difficult to overpay. But I also have found rookies that made up for it.
No don’t smoke don’t drink (anymore) used to as a young adult, these days I put on Cross movement and praise the God of the Heavens and the Earth Jesus Christ! All the best!
Naw, just need to have a plan on how you are going to reinvest what you make from what you initially put up. Personally I try to put what I paid for something plus 40% of the profit into my store savings account. This covers the 22% tax on profit plus allows me to grow my bank account for future purchases. Because I do this on a spreadsheet, I can’t allow myself to cheat it. And once you factor in business expenses, the 22% tax is more like 17%
I love how people immediately make statements like this to dismiss taking a chance. That’s why you won’t be successful bro, and always be reliant on someone else’s success for that paycheck. Where there is a will, there is a way. Arbitrage, reinvesting and creative budgeting are all ways to start a business and scale it without debt or heavy initial capital investments.

I’m in the Conway area. Do you have a store front or are you only online?
Online only, I go to shows occasionally (been to Conway show a couple times)
J Mac when do you decide to sell your high end cards for example, 2003 Topps Chrome Lebron James RC?
I just list everything that I’m selling on eBay and field offers on higher end stuff until I’m tired of holding it then I just run them on a auction
