Hey, Justin. I wanted to thank you for your videos on reselling. I started watching over the last couple weeks and your channel has been a very good resource. In fact, I just made my first sale earlier today! Will continue to watch your videos among others to learn as I go. Thanks!
@@lionheart830 that sounds very freeing! Good Job! I love to thrift so I will probably never not have a few totes (death Pile/money pile) but I really strive to keep it to only a few totes. I know how quickly those piles can make us feel crippled.
I'm about halfway through the video, which I found just as I was sorting boxes & boxes of inventory that I'm FINALLY getting out of my house - going to either auction houses or donation. I'm niching down my reselling, and it's about time. Learned the hard way by doing the typical "new reseller" thing and buying everything I saw that was an good or amazing deal. Now, I'm going to focus on what will still make money, but also what I myself really ENJOY. Sneakers? Nope. Electronics? Uh uh. Random old things that I bought just because they were old? Absolutely not. BYE FELICIA! I'm turning over a new reselling leaf. Can't wait until all this extraneous stuff is gone. I wish you much speed & success with clearing out your death pile! 🎉
I have never had a package lost, dropping it off at the post office, but I have seen a delay in it being scanned. I use 1 of 3 post offices depending on which direction my errands or work takes me. One post office I use doesn't seem to scan when I use the drop box. I tried it a few times before work, so it was there early and figured it would be scanned. Each time I used the drop box it was scanned at the regional location either late night the same day or the next day. At the same post office I drop it off at the counter and it is always scanned the within a few hours.
I used to get receipts from the post office but at the time our closest PO was in a very rural area and never did any intake scanning. So if you dropped off a package without a receipt most of the time the first scan would be at the regional facility a day or 2 later. They were also only open 4 hours a day so the inside staff person could help deliver mail in the afternoon. I am very lucky now to have a post office that I can drop off packages by the IKEA bag onto the back dock and leave knowing it'll all be scanned in within the hour.
I always keep receipts, occasionally you get impatient buyers bothering you with "where's my item" Qs. So messaging to them through Ebay a scanned image of the receipt allows you to say "I've done my part in all this" & it's down to the carrier now
@@justinresells I have just ONE question 😁about your response at 2:26:34 to the seller whose buyer wants to return scuffed shoes - he said eBay “made” him send a return label & are holding funds until he refunds the buyer. You gave advice on how the seller could handle the buyer, but what I wanted to know is, in this type of situation, shouldn’t the seller be trying to handle eBay instead -? I realize we don't know the reason why eBay "made" him send a return label, but to me, regardless of whether the seller has a return policy, they shouldn't be forced to allow a return because an item was damaged in shipping. Isn’t that the carrier’s fault, and shouldn’t the buyer have to seek recompense from THEM instead? Unless there are eBay rules about this I'm not familiar with, if I were this seller I would be arguing with eBay & their decision first, rather than the buyer. Would love to know your thoughts. Thank you!!
Hi Justin, not to be redundant, but I enjoy your videos and they have helped me, even though I’ve been a part time reseller on eBay since 2007! Question. You and others emphasize the importance of consistent listing. When I bulk edit to “sell similar” a dozen or more older listings, does eBay recognize those as new listings for that day? Thank you. Joan in CT
i have a blender that Ebay said was a violation- I checked the serial and MY listing was NOT one of the recalled blenders. I reached out to Ebay to give them proof that mine was not a violation and they asked for photos- I sent photos over a month ago and waiting on a final determination... meanwhile. SEVERAL of the exact blender have been listed and sold... frustrating.
Keep your post office receipts at least 6 months (the minimum time someone can do a chargeback), maybe up to a year (I believe Amex allows up to an entire year to do one. possibly others do too.) I wouldn't waste time bringing package to the post office and waiting for a receipt UNLESS you are shipping a packages worth a lot of money (the risk may be worth the time spent). Most people are better off scheduling a USPS pick up daily for free, if possible (I know it is not possible for everyone.) The time and gas to go to the post office daily adds up and can be substantial over the course of a year.
Hi, Justin. Thanks for all your videos, I appreciate how much time that must take! My wife and I have a goal of being on the road in an RV for months at a time. I have more inventory in my workshop that I can take with me not to mention all the shipping supplies. My question is, what would be a way to take my current inventory offline, without closing my store and having to relist everything from scratch when we’re back home, preferably having the ability to list and ship a smaller inventory while we’re on the road? What Would Justin Do?
Justin I love your information you give in your videos, I really want to get my ebay store to thrive, I promote, I do sales, coupons. I just dont know how to drive the traffic to my store.
Hey Justin love the videos as always! Question, I accepted an offer on one of my listings and it was sent back to the buyer as counter offer as the same offer I accepted. Have you had this happen? Sounds weird to me. Thanks for you’re time and keep up the good work sir.
Justin. Thank you so much for your videos. I love them and started reselling in September. Through my first month, I listed 163 items and sold 56 of them for a gross of $1,549 and a net of $421. My NPM is only 27% due to I started buying smaller items with thinner margins to get the hang of it. Flipwise is also fantastic and great. Question, and sorry if you have covered this, but when do you (if ever) run a sale? I've seen where some people start doing 5%+ off after 30 days. Im not looking to move inventory fast, I'm looking to increase NPM. However, as Im getting started, should I consider more quick cash through discounts? Thank you for your time and videos - Lee
I dropped my USPS packages at a UPS store because I had to go there anyway and it saved me a stop. It took 2 full business days before there was any update to my tracking numbers. They sat in “label created” status. I was thankful I kept that receipt just in case it came back to bite me. So maybe get/keep the receipt if you aren’t familiar with the drop off location.
Thanks for your content. Odd question, I know youve been selling for a long time. Have you ever paused, sold / got rid of everything so you could get a clean state? Curious on your thoughts about the best way to get a "fresh start". Thanks!
Flipwise question. I bought a handheld game to resell. When I got home I realized it wasn’t a dead battery issue so I trashed it. Where do I record this in Flipwise? I see I can mark existing inventory as damaged but this isn’t an inventory line item. I don’t see a button to add inventory directly in Flipwise. Thanks!
hey, I had a question. When buyers select priority mail you know you usually use ground shipping and it’s $20 more, do you think the customer has an expectation of priorities shipping when you always do ground
My Goodwills no longer reduce prices by color of price tag. They're so swamped with items and are so short-staffed, they can't reprice anything and can't bother with sales other than their Instagram 50% sales a couple of times a month. If something doesn't sell within a few months, they just toss it.
Justin, I go to the post office with my my prepaid package because I want my proof of the weight that I am sending out. I'm always afraid of a customer saying that there was nothing in the shipment. Have you have any incident like this? I haven't yet.
Just in the past 3 months, I've dropped items in the chute at the Post Office, without getting a receipt and within 4 weeks. 2 items were never scanned and never delivered. High value items too. Unfortunately, I always get it scanned by a human. 😐
I got a message that ebay had an issue with the buyers account and the order was canceled. The buyer had already paid and ebay said to not ship the item. I've had one other experience where I had already shipped an item and ebay had frozen the buyers account, but I still kept the money and buyer received the item. Should I just ship it out anyway? Since the buyer has already paid.
Hi Justin: I am doing Uber in my free time, and one of my passengers forgot the iPhone in my car a year ago. I reported to Uber and gave my personal phone number to reach the customer but didn't get any response. My question is that can I sell that iPhone with the locked password on Ebay? Thank you.
Question: Every so often I have a item in my ebay store that gets zero views after a week or two. Is it bad for the ebay algorithm to have these items in my store and should I delist them, or should I keep the listing up, in case someday someone will buy it? Thanks
Someone tapped the heart on the thumbnail while scrolling through items on their phone and didn’t actually click on and open your listing. Has happened to me too!
I DO think it matters how quickly we respond to messages, I was looking at my shop from a customer view, and it said “responds to messages within 24 hours” 😳 so I’ve started checking and answering messages as quickly as I can.. I’d think that makes it apparent that it matters.. 🤷🏼♀️
Regarding the return for the guy who bought it for a part. Don’t they have to return the entire item they purchased? You can deny a partial refund and just say “please return the whole thing”. If they don’t you should win your case with eBay if they investigate. Seems sketchy
I get almost all my boxes for free from Dollar General. They are already broken down flat so I just keep them flat and store them in a spot near my shipping area.
as a newbie to resale.. this was an amazing watch! Appreciate Justin!! Keep the videos coming..

Me TOO
Got rid of my death pile. Listed everything. (Never want to thrift again). Felt like a ton of cement was lifted!

The best, most informative Ebay channel on YT. Thank you, Justin.👍🏻
3 hours? Oh hell yeah!
My thoughts exactly 😂 been listening to this on every car ride for the last 48hrs.

A man of many shirts. Thank you for all your info.
I love listing. I spend 4_6 hrs a day except for picture day. I hate finding my items and shipping them so i"m working on shipping.
I always keep receipts, occasionally you get impatient buyers bothering you with "where's my item" Qs. So messaging to them through Ebay a scanned image of the receipt allows you to say "I've done my part in all this" & it's down to the carrier now
Also with checking comps, the soldering price graph is awfully handy. It's excellent indicator of median price sold
Post office receipts are date time stamped which are perfect to use for travel expense records
Was not expecting to find myself leading off with the first question, lol!
If you keep submitting questions I'm going to have to do a Jason-only compilation video.
