Woodturning Gnarled Oak Navajo Bowl

This piece of Red Oak wood had a big bulging knot that I hoped had some interesting twisted grain that would make interesting looking bowl. I don’t usually turn Oak wood. I’ve made a few but it’s not one of my favorite woods to work with. This piece and several others were part of a large oak tree that fell on car that belonged to some dear friends of mine. Some of the nicest people I know. The car was crushed and I saved a few piece of wood to make some turned piece for them later. That event was a couple years ago and now I’m finally getting these pieces finished.

Dry oak is hard to turn but usually doesn't warp much but green oak is easy to turn and warps like crazy. Your bowl turned out great!👍👏
