I had to look up your post and thank you. For my 60th B-day I bought myself an insta pot and started doing bone broth with your guidance. OMG! I can't believe the dif, it has made for me. I work in the wall tower of a state prison, to get to my lofty post I have a 67 step spiral stair. My knees used to get so agree at me, After 2 weeks of B-Broth I have no pain! I can't say thank you enough.

I had Crohns for 14 years. Had several horrible flares. . My doc wanted to remove my colon. I wanted one last ditch effort to save my colon and took this. Doc wasn't happy. I took the probiotic VSL#3DS in the therapeutic dose for 6 months. I have not had any symptoms since Aug.26, 2016 --almost 3 years. Bone broth is a great food, The reason VSL worked is that it crowded out the bad bacteria that make metabolites that harm the gut and promotes beneficial bacteria that make short chain fatty acids including butyrare which is nourishing to the colonic cells. Glad to see you taking responsibility for your health. Hope you have a full recovery.

I am now 28 and working on my future. Diet improvements can really do wonders. And when you add finding the right treatment it can really change ones life. I spent so long going and we've finally found what works. I am so happy.

My daughter was diagnosed with Reiters Syndrome when she was 14. She was prescribed Cell Cept, steroids cyclosporine etc. She had 8 years of misery, contracting many infections because she was immune suppressed. Then we read the studies on autoimmunity, inflammation and gut microbiome. Pre and probiotics block E Gallinarum in the gut. E Gallinarum triggers an inflammatory response. She has been symptom free for over 6 months and no longer prescribed immune suppressants. Bone broth encourages a healthy gut microbiome for the pre and probiotics to thrive.

Because your recipe is for 8 quart Instant Pot, and many of us have 6 qt IPs, I found that after cooking & straining the broth, I can put all the solids back into the IP, add water up to the PC max line again, and make a 2nd batch of Bone Broth right away! Ok to pour 2nd & 1st batches together, it's a good average. Works very well. Delicious too! Store in refrigerator, serve hot.
So delicious that all of the Bone Broth is gone within a few days. 😀 ☕ Oh well, easy to make more!

Sounds yummy. I think a "plain" bone broth is also good as it allows you to use it in different recipes later. If you freeze the plain broth into one or two cup containers, then you can season it with lemongrass and basil for Thai soup, or cumin, coriander, ginger and garlic for Pakistani dishes, or with the "holy trinity" of Creole cooking in Louisiana: onion, green pepper, and celery -- plus garlic, of course.

I didn’t think of adding the leaves during the cooling time. Great idea! Also, somebody commented on immediately making a second batch with the leavings. Another great idea. Oh my sweetheart! My 16 year young son has Cronh’s as well! BUT!!!! LIKE YOU! I’ve been bone brothing for 4 years since his diagnosis and it has changed all of our 3 lives: son, mom, dad 🥰❣️. I use all of your ingredients - easy and yes! It’s all about extracting all of the great flavours for the broth. I use a lot of leeks because they taste so sweet and not so oniony for those who get tired of ordinary onions... I also add garlic, tiny purple shallots, a chunk of peeled fresh ginger, a good handful of black pepper in order to maximize absorption of turmeric. Very important! It is a fact 🤗. I also use turkey,
Beef, lamb bones! We need to change it up right? I also like to add a little piece of jalapeño pepper for a kick - my son loves it. TURRRRMERIC not toomeric. 🤪🤷‍♀️❣️you can add parsley, fresh coriander, a stick of cinnamon, aniseed, you can change it up so much and often to avoid repetition and boredom. Good luck to all of us who heal from within. It takes time, effort, will, research to get it done but once you know, YOU KNOW, you tweak and enjoy...

Madeline! You could cut your veggies at an acute angle to expose more surface area too. Just like you did to ginger. In addition to Bay leaves you could also add crushed Black Cardamoms, just a couple will do the trick. They go very well with soups and anything boiled. Thumbs up for your recipe! The whole idea is to go with what is available locally/seasonally. I don't get Celery and Parsley, I make do with Coriander leaves and stems. The other off white thing(I couldn't catch the name properly). I use turnip, Cauliflower stem and other peels of nutritional veggies. Garlic is always on the higher side for my all soups. Keep them coming!

But with all the Collagen/gelatin and the amino acids proline, glutamine and arginine; Something that excelerates the healing of these is good amounts of Vitamin C and all the other Antioxidants. Vitamin C with the other antioxidants incorporated with the Collagen/gelatin and the amino acids proline, glutamine and arginine - Stimulates the building of tissue in the body - of which the gut is made of.
I didn't know if you have already talked about some of the other synergistic foods/vitamins, so I thought I would put in my 2 cents:) Cheers! Oh, by the way... the tumeric is amazing healing food, I think you could use even more, whether in this broth or in other foods too!

I healed myself from lifelong allergies using tips like you discuss. Note that I use a glass pot that fits inside my instapot, as acids like vinegar can leach nasty doping metals out of stainless. Also, if you are serious about healing, consider including wild edibles. Arthur Haines or Samual Thayer are excellent resources. We really need these wild foods, they have much higher concentration of polyphenol compounds which can be crucial for our health. Water fasting for stretches of 16 hrs to several days (on occasion) is also practically mandatory for gut healing/maintenance. Hope this helps y'all, sure helped me (confirmed by blood work and skin allergy tests. Yahoo!)

This is so awesome of an ideal method....and when I use the chicken feet for making a big pot of pasta sauce a couple time a year, I first fry them in butter & olive oil to a crisp, and smells like Buffalo Wings...and being from Buffalo, it's fitting...then wrap them up in cheese cloth, and dump it in the sauce to simmer over night, or longer. So being that, with your flavor broth, a bit of the feet fried would give it a little kick too!....thanks for sharing!

I raise rabbits and use them for my bone broth. I have a 23 quart Presto pressure canner that I use for both cooking and canning my broth. When you can it with a pressure canner, there is no need for refrigeration until you break the seal on a lid. My canner holds almost 6 gallons of liquid, but it will only hold 7 quart-size mason jars. If you're using four cups a day, seven quarts should be a two week supply.

I have been diagnosed with Chrones, Diverticula, IBS, Acid reflux, hiatal hernia, and no stomach lining. The no stomach lining is somewhat very scary can lead to cancer. Anyway ... I got the INSTANT POT so I can do this more often. It's about the only thing I take in that does not cause pain. I eat organically as much as possible, but no matter what it still causes pain. I also take Enzymes and Probiotics which have not helped much as I hoped for. But I was prescribed drugs for these issues that I been taking for a number of years, which I now believe just made things worse to the point of having an emergency *dead* (not due to stones) gallbladder removed. I recently started taking HCL with pepsin and (Ox Bile due to gallbladder being removed) which has helped more than anything. I also started eating more organic fermented foods like Pickel, Kimchi, Sauerkraut ... etc. And I am now able to cut back on prescription drugs. I have gone to many Doctors and Specialist that pretty much only treat such issues with drugs. I have come to the conclusion ... "You have to be a better Doctor than the one treating you!" TU on the video!

Pork and chicken bones are different you need to cook pork longer
Chicken bones are smaller then pork so 2hrs in an IP is a good amount of time

Bone broth is good for cold too. It's good when you fast on liquids ( Keto Coffee in the morning then+green smoothies+ fresh pressed juice during the day). I never thought of Pressure Cooker for bone broth. Probably we could get much more nutrients using this pot. Thanks for the information and nice video.

I use everything except chicken feet, because well if you drink enough I suppose you can avoid eating those and parsnip. The turmeric I use is ground. I’m definitely going to try the parsnip.
I add a lot of garlic: 2-4 heads/bulbs (not the little cloves.
I use organic free range chicken carcass after cooking and also source quality beef broth and soup bones.
I also add red pepper flakes and jalapeños and use a good bit more sea salt and pepper because it tastes good.
It is super good to sip on all day. Especially in the winter. It’s even good in the morning.

Hi! I have a diverticulitis since 2015 , had an exlaparatomy,
you mentioned you have chrones d.
Need help. Its my first time I'll be drinking bone broth. I'm using beef bone.
    May I ask questions?
    1. how much ml/ glass do I have to drink everyday?
    2. I heard chicken feet is more gelatinous? Should I change beef to Chicken?
    3. I'm drinking slippery elm, are you familiar about it?
    4. Has it heal your symptoms/ Disease?
Had a colonoscopy mid month of march and a biopsy done. I'm scared. Want to know more ...your daily ways of eating habit.

Hey Michael! I completely understand the overwhelm and fear that can come with a "big" diagnosis and prognosis. My first suggestion would be to really look into stress management. That is the #1 thing that can trigger gut issues. I HIGHLY recommend the book You Are the Placebo by Dr. Joe Dispenza. What self-care practices can you incorporate into your daily routine to reduce stress and create a new positive mindset? My go-to is meditation daily.
As for the answer to your other questions:
      1. Therapeutic dose for bone broth is 5-6 cups a day. That's a LOT (which is why I supplement with dehydrated broth). But if you can just get 1-2 cups a day that is a HUGE start!
      2. Chicken feet are definitely the best! There are benefits to both beef and chicken broth (and fish and lamb, etc), so I try to mix it up, but I definitely drink mostly chicken.
      3. Yes, slippery elm is great! I use it when I'm having a hard day and I find it really comforting.
      4. Since starting this diet (and HUGE mindset shifts) 6 months ago, I'd say that my digestive symptoms are about 70% improved so far... which is HUGE for me! They say it takes a month for every year you've been sick, so I'm well on my way. Since you've had symptoms for much less time, you could heal much faster!
You can totally do this! One step at a time :)

Madeline, I saw one of the comments talking about your beautiful teeth but the thing I noticed about you immediately was your skin. You have the most beautiful skin I think I have ever seen. You glow like a light bulb. If the bone broth is doing as much for the inside of your body as it seems to be doing to the exterior portion of your body then you must be doing damn fine.

I enjoyed your video Madeline. I also have crohn's disease and am doing specific carbohydrate diet on my journey of trying to do the most I can for my health and try to avoid medications if at all possible. I've had crohn's for about 25 years and tried most of the common medications. I'm just not satisfied with the level of health that I have with the medication route alone. One thing that I've recently found which makes my digestion superb is taking a fish oil omega 3 supplement every day. I recommend anybody with crohn's/colitis try it. I saw drastic improvement after taking it for a couple of weeks. I hope to get a scope and crp test soon to see if it's putting me into clinical remission. I am optimistic based on how I feel.

Chicken broth takes 4 to six hours and beef bone broth 6 to 8 hours on low heat on the stove top. Start all bone broths in cold water and bring it up to a low boil, then turn down to a simmer, barely bubbling. Always add onion, celery and carrots and bay leaves,. Add spices, whatever you prefer..
Cloves and cumin, fennel seeds, juniper berries, bulk peppercorns.Strain and discard all, just keeping the broth. Salt and pepper to taste.
      .

Almost the same ingredients I use in mine except I haven't managed to source chicken feet yet. I save the trimmings from my aromatic veg and dump it in my freezer bag with my bones. I find it easier to store by reducing it right down and freeazng in ice cube containers. Then I pop a couple out and add water to bring it back to it's former glory..
