    My mother always shared a story about one of her poor cousins who was raised by his mean stepmother. The stepmother would always make soup for the family and give the meat and solids to HER children but then only give mainly broth to the stepson. Well, he grew super strong and healthy while her own children looked sickly. And so, the virtues of broth passed down to me from my mom many decades ago

      Any type of broth makes one strong and healthy especially the chicken feet beef bone cow feet and the fish head and bones from the fish. My mom learned this from her grandmother and aunts and pass it down to us. It really strengthens and gives longevity to the body most of my family lived a 100 plus years my grand aunt died 2019 she was 100 my great grandmother lived 103 so am hoping by the grace of God to live long like them. Soup and broth is good for the body I love it. It’s a must have enjoy blessings to all.

    No one should give you grief about the ‘organic versus nonorganic’ food topic. You Mary, are correct to say what you said about this. Everyone has to eat, while staying in their respective financial limits, to which others cannot judge. Some can barely afford to buy decent groceries, and are doing the best they can.

    ONE thing I love about you, Mary (I adore many things), is how you tell ppl to stay in their budget. I think that is very wise. Even though I can afford organic products, there was a time when I could not and keeping up with the Jones' can ruin some ppl financially.
    Just getting ppl to make homemade food with health benefits is a huge and important things so do not listen to the naysayers.
    Not everyone can afford top of the line or grow their own.

    I have been making bone broth since I was 12 years old. Using vegetable scraps makes it so much easier. I also make my own egg noodles and we eat the broth as a soup. It's so soothing when you have an upset stomach. Thank you Mary. Happy cooking, Debbie

    I feed the broth in jello form to my 9 month old, lol. It’s faster than helping her drink it in a sippy since she’s still learning how to use one…she doesn’t seem to mind that it’s cold! The last batch I made with 5 or six feet and two carcasses…I’ve gotten two gelatinous batches so far, and the bones are sitting in the freezer waiting for me to have time to use them again. 😄

    I found chicken legs on special. My bone broth turned out very gelatinous! 2 step: On in AM, then debone in PM. Then broth to jars. Then put bones, skin etc back in crockpot, and simmer til the next evening. Very tasty.

    I am so glad I learned how to make this from you a while back. I add extra peppercorns and turmeric to mine. And I wanted to add that my 12 yr. old dog has seen the benefit of having some bone broth in her food every day. She went from a not so quick dog anymore to almost like a puppy again. Thank you so much for your videos.

      Be careful with turmeric: it’s very high in oxalates, which are a sneaky but very powerful health destroyer.

    Thanks to your regrow video, right now I have 3 full heads of romaine lettuce, 5 whole regrown gorgeous celery plants, and 3 heads of regrowing cabbage in my garden! Only 2 romaine lettuce plants went to seed, but the other three are ready for salad!!! I started rooting them inside and transplanted them into a cold frame in my garden during winter! We're soon going to be re-eating them! My daughter was shocked to see the celery I used for Thanksgiving stuffing has regrown and can be eaten again! 😂 She's planning to try this herself come fall! ❤

    Wonderful video. And thank you for saying that about staying in budget. I’m a stay at home mom now and recently left my career as an NHC for Natural Grocers. Between inflation and losing my income (and discount!) I’ve had to make the switch to non organic. It’s been hard but also liberating in a way. I can’t believe how much cheaper my grocery bill is now!

    Thank you for this tutorial. I have necks/feet in my freezer from processing our chickens last fall and was unsure what to do with them.
    Also, I see the Blessed Mother and St. Anthony in the background. One of my boys’ name is Anthony. 🙂

    My dear in Mass didn't find chicken feets for twenty some years even have had are looks bad or been some where so just started using pork bone instead but thankfully you have very interesting Vegas for all together some wisdom to it it very good happy to meet you love sincerely appreciate

    I am very happy to have come across your channel. You have excellent content. I love this bone broth video and since I use a lot of garlic, onion and carrots I will keep them and just add the chicken feet. I grew up eating fried chicken backs so they won't make it in the pot 😆

    I usually pour what I can through a strainer into a jar, then mix what's left in the pot with boiling water for a bit and pour that into another; The second one is usually still gelatinous enough to solidify in the fridge.

    I use chicken leg quarters. I bake them slowly in a deep pan with a small amount of water and apple cider vinegar. Once the chicken is cooked, I de bone the meat, can the chicken meat and use the bones and the gelatine for a broth or soup. It is great for cooking rice, add fluids to stews or, as you said, just drink it. I am learning so much about cooking "nutritionally dense foods" and am using it for both me and my 2 working dogs, one who just recovered from a severe liver infection! He knows how long it takes to cook rice for him and will wait patiently until it is finished!

    I love your videos Mary! Thank you so much for inspiration! I started making bone broth a few years ago (thanks to you!). Today is the first time I am making one using chicken feet (in addition to chicken bones that I collected in my freezer). I used to make it in a slow cooker, but then it broke and I got the instant pot, which I like a lot and still get the gelatinous bone broth.

    Hello, Mary. I’d love to hear your opinion on James Hoffman’s experiment where he made stock from juiced vegetables. The finer the chops - the more surface area - the more extraction of flavors. He basically took this idea to the limit and, according to him, this resulted in a much more concentrated flavor. So due to efficient extraction one can make stock with less produce.

    Mary thank you for your channel. I’ve known around my little town as someone who cans anything they can get their hands on! So my question is how would I go about canning some of these homemade broth. Is there some guidelines for how long the process etc. I appreciate all of the complete information that you give when you present a video. You’ve said several times that it runs long but the bottom line is it’s important to know all the details. So again thank you very much it’s a pleasure to watch you and listen and learn.

    Hi Mary! I love your idea of saving eggshells to add to our bone broth. I was just wondering, how would you recommend storing them? After use, should we rinse them out to remove any leftover whites and then add them to our scrap veggie bag in the freezer until we’re ready to make bone broth? Thank you!

    ..they loves them chicken flavored veggies, including the deboned chicken bits
