@@ja_9568 , I agree! Tim had the much better voice. And he was also great song writer. It's absoluttely amazing how much he recorded in his short life. Jeff wasn't so creative IMO. I think he did his best stuff when he covered great songs. But I cannot really get too enthusiastic about his original stuff.

This was Jeff’s biggest fear, wrapped up in one video and a bunch of comments below. It’s no wonder he struggled to write that second lp with the critics waiting for him to top Grace and the constant comparisons to Tim.

Is there any evidence to support what they’re saying… Jeff was respectful to his dad because he had to… seems like he didn’t want to talk negatively about his fathers Legacy And the comparisons arent even close… I’ll be rolling in my grave if somebody was comparing me to my dad that wasn’t there .. it just sucks that Jeff can’t have his own legacy without his dad being attached to it.. Tim does sound like he had the heavy jazz influence that Jeff had..Jeff is amazing artist and made amazing music period.

It is very difficult if not impossible to compare the two artists, By the time of his death at age 28, Tim was an accomplished and mature artist, and the sky was the limit for his future musical creations. At the time of Jeff’s death at age 30 he had one album under his belt, and his career was just taking off. It is difficult to surmise what he might have accomplished. He had tremendous potential, but was the victim of a rush to idolize on the part of his fans. This condition was an unfortunate and unintended legacy from his father, which resulted in Jeff’s instant passage into myth after death. And who can analyze a myth without prejudice? A large part of the problem is that most Jeff Buckley fans simply do not grasp the length, depth, subtlety and extensive nature of Tim’s ever changing musical career. Most of his work is obscure today, but without a doubt the man was a genius who was far ahead of his time, then and now. Jeff, like his father, has a remarkable voice and uses it well, but he was not exactly a trail blazer in terms of his sound. That may well have changed, it would be foolish to underestimate his abilities, but we will never know the truth of what might have been.

"A large part of the problem is that most Jeff Buckley fans simply do not grasp the length, depth, subtlety and extensive nature of Tim’s ever changing musical career."
THIS !! I myself was a complete JB elitist 16 years ago. I did not care about Tim's music until after 2, 3 years of absorbing nothing, but Jeff's music. (Luckily) Jeff only had one album, so it's relatively easier for me to move on.... to other brilliant artists. I still love Jeff, but Tim IS really completely on another level ! I still weep, listening to Chase the Blues Away, Once I was and even Buzzin Fly.

Jeff Buckley had a much better band than Tim ever had. I think that's part of the reason Grace was so much more accessible than Tim's albums. The musicians on Grace absolutely commanded every note of that material. Starsailor and Lorca certainly had some incredible moments, but Tim's backing musicians were mediocre and in way over their heads. Nothing on those records ever approached a groove - and at times(Jungle Fire as an example) it seemed like they were chasing Tim and struggling to keep up.
