These are two of my favorites as well and the Alphafly 3 is way more versatile across race distances now for me. I wasn't an Alphafly person before but it combined what I liked about v1 and v2 (and some of the Vaporfly) to make it the best version for me yet. These two, the Vaporfly 3, and the Metaspeed Edge Paris are my top group. I seem to usually have pretty similar preferences to David.
As soon who's had both It seems the endorphine elite is so underrated. I ended up giving my Nikes away I have a high volume foot and the fit didn't feel as good and for some reason the nikes felt less stable for me and my endorphine elite just more snappy and faster. Definitely going to get another pair of the elites
EE fits tts. Good toe room. The heel sling hangs low, but locks the heel well in place. Feels unsecure, but is completely secure. For lockdown, EE is perfect for me. Got voluminous feet. Damn, I say, the EE is so aggressive, I would call it violent. I did 100m in it, and it bounced me like crazy. It is hard to control IMO, kinda hard to keep it down to Marathon pace, but it makes it easy for me to run 20sec/km faster than my Marathon pace. Compared to VF2 at least. And the heel is firmer, what is necessary as a heelstriker. (AF could never be my shoe, as heel is softer than forefoot, low/negative drop on last 10km ruins everything.) Due to the crazy nature of the EE, i chose not to wear it on my sub 3h attempt. HG is slightly firmer than LSP. Softer than FF turbo original IMO. My shoe for 3,06 MPB and this year, is Clearly the Nike Tempo Next%. Illegal yeah. My 2nd choice for Mara would be Superblast. For half marathon, I will try my EE 's. More stability and aggression, punchier than the VF. For shorter than HM, maybe VF still.
Love the Endorphin Elite! Beat my previous marathon PR I set in the Asics Metaspeed Sky Tokyo, by 1 min. (So basically equal in my eyes). Would love to see an Endo Elite vs Metaspeed Paris comparo as well.
Best review I have seen about these shoes... I was really split for my marathon which shoe I should use. And there fell the phrase I needed to hear "falling into rythm..." exactly what I need. Still worried that it might be a bit too firm for me and maybe "too fast" for me.
I haven’t tried AFs but Endorphin Elite can put u in a rhythm it is true that shoe does shine on HM/M paces tried it on 5K paces you must work to get those paces, VF are best for 5-10K Race 😅
Would love to try the Endorphin elite, my issue with it is, that it’s the ugliest shoe of all time. Looks like Swiss yodler clogs. Saucony also gets underrated because they don’t have the budget to get onto the top athletes feet. Saucony wins absolutely nothing on the competitive scene each year, rarely ever even podium. I don’t think that reflects the quality or performance of the shoe, but rather that they get B-C tier runners (comparatively at the top). Having the best tier runners matters from A running perspective. The Alphafly always sells well because of its winning pedigree.
These two are the shortlist for my next marathon in less than 4 weeks! Very hard to choose, they’re both so good 🙈 Very similar in many regards, yet very different as well. I haven’t been able to test the elite on a long run yet and I’m not sure how comfortable they’ll stay: to me they feel quite a bit more aggressive than the Alphafly.
I've found the AF V3 is the closest to the Tempo Next% yet. Own 3 pairs of Tempo's, LOVE that shoe. Ran marathons in both the AF V1 and V2....8 weeks to go on testing the AF V3 at the marathon. But so far, the V3 has been such an amazing blend of V1/2, I don't find it nearly as bouncy as the V1/2 more....natural, smooth.
I've worn the alpha fly 3 for 2 marathons; great shoe, but the alpha fly 3 , for me, needs a slightly bigger toe box. By mile 20 in my runs, my feet want to splay out more and I can feel the shoe tighten, its not bad, but its also not ideal so now im looking for a wider toe box race day shoe -- suggestions appreciated!
I was too slow or something for the Endorphin Elite. Did not work for me at all. Felt super firm. Returned. VF/AF previous versions have worked great for me in the past. AF 3 for me.

Do they fit true to size?

Very helpful review!!

Both are very similars on ride feel. Very smooth ride. Elite is more stable and more rockered shoe. Asics is lighter and a bit soft.
Thanks! The vs I was waiting for.
Thanks David, love the Endorphin Elite. Kind of nervous about v2 after the photos that came out of the dev model.
Love the new framing with the camera!

David, what did you end up choosing for your 5000?
I ended up going with the Metaspeed Edge Paris! It was good, but I think I am going to go back to spikes. At least for busy high traffic 5ks.
Thanks for the reply. I’m looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the Brooks Hyperion Elite LD!

I need the AF3 now
I would like to try the EE. And I do wonder how the forefoot of the AF3 differs from the Nike tempo next% in feel?

There are two more EE on the shelf to the left… I think this says sth too. How many pairs have you had David?
How does the Elite stack up against the new Edge Paris? In my mind I imagine similarities because if the plate and rocker geometry…

What was your pace?
@@_Don_P 6:55-7:00/mile for the marathon
Glad that Nike gave up on the plastic heel cup in the alphafly 1
