I cannot guarantee my lack of blinking in the future, but Nike was my favorite running shoe brand long before I partnered with them. Being able to work with them is something I really enjoy and I am grateful this opportunity is available to me.
Nike has great shoes for the racing. Vaporfly and alphafly. And crap shoes for all the rest of the spectum. Crap stability ones. Pegasus is ages behing offerings from other brands as daily trainer. Etc. etc. I am glad you can run in those. I have wide feet.. and the geniuses from Nike do not offer wide option. Next time: start the review with some stats (drop, weight etc)
Ok, when describing the wear and tear of the shoes. Maybe do some closer videos of the shoes and edit that shot so that we can see it, not that we don’t trust you, but I think we could perfectly see what you are describing on the shoe. Investing in super shoes is not easy for everyone and seeing things up close makes some people second guess their choices. Thanks Ben, good explanation. 👍🏼
Yes, I would definitely like to do more of that in the future. I'll continue to try and work in more footage that shows better detail for subsequent videos.
I have had great experience with the vaporfly and alphafly shoes as to mileage and race results. I am a neutral forefoot/midfoot striker, so the pods on the alphafly are well suited for me. Hence, I prefer the alphafly for long distances. I agree as to the arch hot spots. My arches seemed to toughen up, so the arch issue went away. I look forward to getting version 3. Both shoes really save the legs for the last few miles of marathons.
Another great video Ben! I’m looking forward to buying a pair of the Alphafly 3s for my Birthday in April in preparation for my Road Half-Marathon in November 2024. I ran my last Half-Marathon in the Vaporfly 3s and in retrospect I didn’t use them enough pre-race due to worries about durability. Excited to see how the Alphafly 3s perform!
Good luck! I think the shoes are more durable than some have said. It's good to get some runs in them before the race to make sure you get along well with them. 👍
Awesome review man! Keeping making videos however you want, I dig it! This will probably be my first Nike racer. Been an endorphin pro guy awhile but always fit well in Nikes so will give it a go ✌🏻
Another enjoyable video 😁 im getting super hyped to try out this shoe roll on January 4th 😊. Thanks for the great clear info. Keep up the great work and happy running
Overall it's much wider than the Vaporfly. It's a similar width to the prior Alphafly, but the plate is a little wider in the midfoot and the arch is smoothed out.
I still think it's likely best for most people to rotate in some more flexible shoes on a regular basis. Helps limit stress on the Achilles and strengthens the muscles of the foot.
I can't wear the Alphafly V1 and V2 because of the high arches, injured after just 5k. Do you think I can wear the V3?? It will be available on Feb 15 online only, No chance to try them. I wore size US10 in V1 but US10.5 in all my Vaporflies 1, 2, 3, what size do you think I should go for in Alphafly V3? Tq, Ben
There is some wear visible on the outsole in the forefoot, but nothing too concerning at this point. About 30 miles were on the treadmill at the point this video was made.
Ap1 had blisters on the arch of the sole of the foot, but I wonder what the arch of the sole of the foot looks like for the ap3. Sorry. I can't speak English
I definitely wouldn’t put more than 150 miles on a carbon plated shoe maybe 200 depending on which one carbon plated shoes can definitely weaken your feet.
@@benjohnson763 thanks Ben. Do you think they would be strain the feet less in a marathon the previous ones ? Always find I they take too much out of me after 20k.
As a teacher and non elite marathon runners who logs around 200 miles per month, having shoes that are a good investment is really important. How do you feel about this shoe as a racer for a certain number of marathons, and then it turns into a long run shoe??
You retire a shoe because the foam losses its properties or other parts of the shoe get destroyed. For example the outsole gets ripped or the air pods explode. If you use the shoe for long runs with the foam becoming rigid, you risk injury because it will no longer protect you. It is like using a medicine after expiration date - you could die or get intoxicated. This applies to all shoes, not only Nike. So: after you retire a shoe, you can use it for walks or in the garden to help plant the flowers. Maybe not those Nike for the garden part as the air unit might get cut. Do NOT use them for long runs
@dorins3787 use my v2 Alphas for training runs long after I don't race in them.. even if the foam hardens up a buy they have so much cushion/foam its not a safety issue at all and there is no other structural issues up to about 1000km so great value esp if you can pick them up with almost no km second hand
@@topofthemountainfitness7245 we have different definitions for retiring a shoe. I retine mine 100 km before foam becomes too hard. In my view, 1000 km is too much. 600 can be ok and safe. I prefer to spend money on shoes than on doctors :)

This was a botched release. Not even considering Nike's inability/unwillingness to sell to actual runners rather than scalpers, but from Nike's side too. They could easily mark the proto colorway of this shoe up to $400 and it would still sell out fast. They're losing hundreds of dollars per pair by not doing this. Further, their next release isn't until 4/4 here in the US?! They are offering it at the end of Feb for UK. To add another slap in the face, the next colorway is a total JOKE. There's a reason why Nike had a terrible earnings report a few weeks ago. They've lost it.
No real runner uses the same shoes everyday, is this guy a nut. My son runs in College and trains with four pairs of shoes at any given time. He never runs in the same shoes two days in a row. Interesting, he finds it good to risk serious injury to test his sponsors shoes.

I just got these. But I will stay with TOPO as my tempo, trail, and long run/recovery shoes. I just love the 5mm drop and foot shape of TOPO

The arch is the only thing holding me back from wanting to buy a pair in the future.
I found the arch to be far more comfortable in this version.
Great review🎉
What about Airpods support?
awesome review! so now we can say that AF3 durability is upgraded significantly?
I think so!
Super Fantastic Review Ben. Best of lucks in 2024. How would you compare AF3 to VF2? Thoughts? Thanks!!!
I much, much, much prefer the Alphafly 3 over the Vaporfly 2. Way more cushion and bounce.
Love the videos, Ben
Great review Ben!!! Is it wider you think v AF2 v VF3?
Overall it's much wider than the Vaporfly. It's a similar width to the prior Alphafly, but the plate is a little wider in the midfoot and the arch is smoothed out.
Alpha fly 2 wasn’t good for people with wide feet - would you recommend the 3’s for wide feet individuals?
Do you mean wide in the mid foot as for wider forefoot people V2's are amazing
Yes wider midfoot :) @@topofthemountainfitness7245
Have you tried driving a car while wearing AF3? How was it? I remember the AF1 to be difficult with the pedals.
🤣🤣🤣
Probably still not recommended 😂 Although the heel is definitely more manageable than the pointy ones on the other Alphafly models.
@@benjohnson763 noted and thanks. I guess I'll have to bring driving shoes to races. Awesome review, excited for 1-4-24 already

Appreciate it’s a race shoe but would it last long for fast treadmill running? 8 mile runs?

The Alphafly 3 has a much lower arch than the Alphafly 1 👍
The arch in the Alphafly 2 gave me terrible blisters … Vaporfly 2 had no issues at all. Does v3 have the same arch problem as v2?
Shoud not because it is a single unit. Bur you need to try. Also maybe do some arch streghting exercises
It's a much lower and smoother arch than in the Alphafly 2. 👍
Do you find it faster/ more responsive than the previous versions??
Yes, I do 👍
How many of those miles were purely road!?
Around 270 miles.
Hows abt sizing? Is it same with vp3?
Yes, same for me. 👍
Has it lost its pop at any point or still pretty close after 300
The foam does seem softer but the pods still have their pop. I think it's still pretty close overall.
Very impressive durability for a super shoe@@benjohnson763
